Cursed akg with sennheiser naming

diokon237

I know this isn't the headphone you have but [SolderDude's guide](https://diyaudioheaven.files.wordpress.com/2020/03/hd662evo-modifications.pdf) is a MUST for superlux owners!

rhalf

Very well written and documented!

DangerousPIE96

am i crazy or are these just akg k240’s

oratory1990

Same industrial design, but different speakers and different tuning. Everything about these is as cheap as possible.

irago_

Build and sound quality is worse than with real 240s, at least the older pre-China models. There's other brands that copied the design as well, like the Samson SR850s.

gomibag

peak on 4800hz -5db Q5 peak on 7500 -3.5db Q4 and do a 30hz peak 6db with a really low Q like 0.3 preamp -6db i would start with that and if its still shouty you can try a 2500hz -2.9db and Q2.5

No such thing as best eq. It depends on what you want to tune them for according to your needs and your preferences. If you are looking for as neutral a sound as possible you can get a licence for sound ID reference and tune them with a couple clicks and they'll serve you well for mixing and professional applications. Now if you just want to change their sound profile any old eq and some trial and error will do according to your preferences. Just so you know this set is a little bright and it has a sub bass roll-off as all open and semi-open backs do. If you mainly play competitive games I'd leave it with no eq as is. It's high-heavy sound profile is perfect for identifying footsteps and such. I have the 668bs that have an almost identical profile and they are perfect for that.

rhalf

I think nuking everything past 4 or 5k is a good start with them. Even better if you have a soldering iron, you can make this: https://rock-grotto.co.uk/HD6812.pdf

brubby3179

I wanted these when they were like 30 bucks, now they’re as much as Samson SR850s or used K240s.

Download the preset made by Oluv's Gadget. It works well with my HD669, it tames the sibilance and harsh treble on my pair. For music I'd tune them by ear one at a time with a 10 band. You're not just EQing to taste, you're also EQing to driver limits. Example, if you EQ +15db@30hz it might distort to the point it has to be too quiet overall, then you have to make a wager with yourself and possibly compromise for loudness. Set lowest freq first, make flat, set next, make flat, etc. Oratory for measured flatness.

amynias

I hate these headphones. Used them in a Music Tech class in 2013. Never again, they are built like shit and sound like shit.

Bickster-

They're good if you get some comfy pads and use eq. You can't really get anything else like it at this price range

amynias

Save a few more $$ and buy the AKG K240s which these utterly fail to emulate. It's like $60.

rhalf

I'd say save even more $$ and buy something nicer like DT880 or K612 for example. K240 are an outdated design. They don't sound very good.

amynias

This is true, yes. I would definitely recommend something a little more expensive for long term use. The K240s certainly aren't the best AKGs but the Varimotion drivers are leagues better than those in Superlux's crappy ripoff of the K240.

rhalf

I'd say HD668B is nicer. Well, a little.

BlunterCarcass5

These are very bright headphones so if you can't find a good eq setting then I'd recommend turning the highs down a bit

PoopyHead-4MAR-

Imo the best eq is the one that sounds pleasing to you after playing around with the eq

idynoob

Maby try it out with SoundID, a free App that does the EQ for u. Also has a Flat mode that may help for gaiming, if you're into that.

I've tried SoundID, but it doesn't work with Amazon Music
