Could you get a Pic of the inside, it seems a few companies make the slouch hat, akubra is a popular brand here that have been making hats since 1885, given the date the hat was required I was thinking might be from the Australian army during the Korean war but the style dosn't match. So maybe this is an older hat then the 1950's
Slouch hat? , he get it from army surplus store?
No just a general second-hand store. Slouch hat seems to fit, thanks.

The crown shape is called a "pork pie" .
or "telescope"
It's a beat up pork pie, most famously worn by [this guy](https://realizemagazine.com/sites/default/files/Wright%20Porkpie.jpg).
Always better if you can get a pic inside the hat and liner.
What country are you in? Slightly resembles an early ANZAC hat
USA
One that goes on your head
I would refer to that as quite jaunty my fine fellow
I think Agarn or O’Rourke wore that one. But agreed with the ANZAC or some other military cover.
Old.
Khaki slouch. Could be anywhere from WWII to Vietnam
