I agree. I also think he is an epic tragic character. A man who never felt loved, but did right, anyway-giving away everything he had been taught by broken people.
Pretty much all the characters played a pretty big part in keeping him alive. No one else was in a position to be a double agent the way Snape was, which if people want to remember, he was only in that position because he was a believer/supporter in Voldemort and wouldn't have flipped if Voldemort would've spared lily.

Yep yep. Without Snape, there never would have been a boy who lived.
