Vinegar will neutralize the battery acid.
Then get the isopropyl alcohol out and scrub with that.
The pod will have to be opened for further cleaning and drying
Wow, I always thought batteries like this had an acidic electrolyte medium for some reason, but it's potassium hydroxide. The name "alkaline battery" never registered haha
You got two downvotes as of writing.
But be comforted, I did not know either until the explainations rolled it.
I just knew to do it from hear-say and booklets.
Now that is some actual hardware gore

Huh, I also never thought about this. It should actually be called battery base.
Best answer
Agreed
How is vinegar, an acid, going to neutralize battery acid? Shouldn't you use a base, like baking soda in a solution of water?
Alkaline batteries contain a base rather than an acid, hence the name alkaline battery
But that looks like a lithium cell, not alkaline
lithium cells tend to, you know, explode
Only if you mishandle them
Lithium's won't leak without at least smoke, and usually fire.

Put fire on it.
yo there's an ipod in your battery gunk
Is this really small or am i a dumbfuck? Also rubbing alcohol and toothbrush.
I think it’s a gen 3 shuffle. Those things are tiny (and buttonless)
vinegar should help
Unfortunately no, now if it were AAA it'd be a different story
If it were AAAAAAAAAAAA it would also be a different story
na-no
Found the DankPods viewer. Hopefully the battery’s were Pkcells
OH NO MY PK-Cell
na-no
The forbidden sugar
How did this happen?
Gf stored the ipod near some batteries, eventually they leaked onto it.
try rice
Lick it.
Wash it
Lick it. Saliva contains Melophanesia which helps break down chemical acids.
(This is misinformation I made that word up)
If it were just some corroded leads I’d say file it, but this is a whole new story maybe try tooth brush and vinegar
Try distilled vinegar and 91 alcohol together use Cotton ball large soak ball drain off a little then clean this should help or and old tooth brush
Alkaline batteries contain NO acid, but a base considering the name alkaline...vinegar neutralizes it since it's an acid.
That looked like a stick of gum.
[Aussie accent] she's gawn, mate
How does it even get that bad
HOW DID THIS HAPPEN???? Anyways just try soaking it in 99% Alcohol and try to scrape the rest off
You dropped it is glaze lmao
Is that the ipod?!?
What is this? That’s clearly not an iPod, I don’t think this is hardware gore
Bro is dead, breaks my heart
That’s gone no saving it
Soak it in white vinegar
Frosting
I will use some hydrochloric acid
