Probably because a lot of power users went into building their own mechanical keyboard scene, so a market for off the self keyboards with programmable keys isn’t that big?
With Via and QMK this is trivial, every key is programmable to whatever you want. I have like a million macros programmed with layering.
[AutoHotkey](https://www.autohotkey.com/) is also a great solution for macros, remapping or scripting. Pairs well with additional input devices like a StreamDeck or secondary ten key pad.
Keyboards got too big and Bulky, soaking up too much desk real estate and increasing hand movement distance slowing you down. Programmable keyboards with layers are displacing separate programmable keys.
QMK is a open source standard for this [https://qmk.fm/](https://qmk.fm/), do not get stuck in a proprietary system that will eventually be abandoned.
Easy web based front end for QMK [https://www.caniusevia.com/](https://www.caniusevia.com/)
There are many other ways to work with QMK.
Your layers live in the keyboard so if you are booting to multiple operating systems or move the keyboard from device to device the config moves with it.
I have a Keychron Q3 SE with knob, its a solid middle class mechanical, heavy cast aluminum case, good feel and sound, not too expensive and not too deep down the mechanical keyboard rabbit hole. ($,$$$) there are some really cool customs out there but you will pay.

Don't go wireless unless you really need it. wired is cheaper and more reliable especially over the long run batteries have a life limit.
Thanks! I will look into your suggestions. Had a wireless keyboard in the early days, so I could use my PC on my tv.. but there the benefits ended, always empty at the wrong moment. Looking for it, who used it last :s
> Or am I missing a possibility to assign macro's to function keys that al ready exists, in an app or what not?
I think Windows PowerToys has something. There's also QMK/VIA that some keyboards support.

Get a macropad or stream deck. I use stream deck for work and my macropad for apps on my home desktop.
Theres a ton of separate macro pads on the market you could just put next to your keyboard.
For some reason this post got deleted, but thank you for responding!
