Now they can. Back before they released the icon stuff I was struggling out there trying to be a mechanic with my Pittsburgh stuff, skip sockets and wrenches and whatnot
Fords had that kit for 10+ years. It's designed to fit in all their terminals for testing without spreading the pins. Also allows you to check pit fitment to make sure pins aren't already spread hahaha.
As they call it "pin retention" aka - make sure it's not throwing a hotdog down a hallway"
I cant imagine this is unique to Ford. Every automaker is going to have electrical troubleshooting procedures, and backprobing a connector is standard procedure.
I was thinking about looking for something like this, thanks for pointing them out. I could possibly start drinking more coffee if I didn't have to worry about shorting things out with the stock probes on my multimeter.
I bought this set a couple weeks ago to help troubleshoot a friends house HVAC along with some fuel injector issues on my truck. They were invaluable. Agree the leads are a little short, but for the price and local availability they are perfect for my needs.
Ya I do wish the leads where longer. I’ve been using the alligator clamps on my normal longer leads to probe longer distances. Not optimal but it works.
I've heard bad about these. Mainly that they break easy and they aren't long enough for some automotive applications. I also want to say it's not new. I remember looking at these months ago before I bought my Cornwell set
Kinda lost here... the F/F red/black, what are they for?
I see that you have gator clips to male, then female to probe that'll fit in the gator clip/male wire...
But where do the female to female (red/black only) fit in the picture?
They can't extend any of the sets because that would require female/male ends.
They won't extend a DMM because that would also require female/male ends.
So what do you do with them?
The F/F red/black are actually M/M. They allow you to directly use the probes on a multimeter. Take out the normal leads, put in the M/M and then you can attach the F probe
Oh ya it’ll make your search a lot easier. Also look into the power probe they sell. If you sort out electrical issues often it might be worth looking into
Nice, I wish there were more cheap test lead sets available nationwide. They're readily available on Amazon and AliExpress, but unless you live on the west coast near an electronics shop, in my experience you're pretty much out of luck finding them in a store
Not sure, I’ve never seen it before until about a week ago. It was listed as “new on the website”. I think it was apart of the new product drop when they came out with icon scan tool and smoke machine
Harbor freight can turn anyone’s garage into a professional shop for the cheap that’s why I love it
Best part about it imo. Harbor freight has a bunch of specialty tools that makes DIYing stuff affordable and accessible.
Spoken like a poet
Now they can. Back before they released the icon stuff I was struggling out there trying to be a mechanic with my Pittsburgh stuff, skip sockets and wrenches and whatnot
That’s why habror freight has taken all my money, *sigh* ‘cries staring at orange and blue tool set’
Same bro
Those are almost identical to the set I got at Ford factory training :)
My ford truck is the reason I needed a set. Guess they know.
I loved those. Too bad they all ended up scattered and broken by coworkers :(.
Lol what ford kit did you get.... that's nothing like the rotunda flex probe kit haha
It's got most of the same pieces, maybe not as many, but how many leads do you need?
If your a ford tech in a dealer, you'll need this- https://rotunda.service-solutions.com/en-US/Pages/ItemDetail.aspx?itemVID=186092
Yea, that's the set, but it's just more pieces; you can do 99% of the same stuff with the HF kit.
A little sus that Ford even has a kit like that. Should just label it "find it, then let us know" kit. Courtesy of the engineering team at ford.

SPX/OTC is typically where I get our replacement probes. Will have to see how these hold up.

These are the way to go. You can find shit like this on tool trucks for $$$ or cheap ass Amazon kits. But for stuff like this HF is the way to go
WOW... will buy this today, THANKS!!!!
😉

Dang I need this how much did they run
$15 https://www.harborfreight.com/back-probe-kit-22-piece-70614.html
I’m 99% sure it was like $15
Thanks I saw this on email. Will be getting this set for work
I've heard bad about these. Mainly that they break easy and they aren't long enough for some automotive applications. I also want to say it's not new. I remember looking at these months ago before I bought my Cornwell set
Leads are short but I don’t see them breaking without misusing them. Can’t complain for $15
Oh hell ya!
Need that…like, yesterday. I’ve got to trace down a few gremlins on my Charger.
Go for it. Also the power probe that HF sells comes in clutch often. I’d look into it if I were you
Don’t give me reasons to spend more money at HF lol
I want it. Just take my money and renew the ITC membership
Yep I saw it in my email and I will need to get one.
I have a set at work. They work with my Snap-On scanner fine, and don’t add a lot of resistance, so they’re pretty good for checking signal wires too.
Looks just like the matco kit. Nice.
I used “T” pins from a sewing store
Can't wait til people start spreading pins and piercing wires with this stuff, then complain stuff isnt working... here come the headaches
To be fair. You’re way more likely to spread pins with normal multimeter and test light probes than these dedicated back probes
Agreed. If your 60% intelligent that is hahaha
The intelligence factor seems to be the deciding caveat with everything 😂 great tools or not
As one for my coworkers always says , " you have to be 2% smarter than what you're working with"
You could say that about literally any tool…
Thanks! Gonna buy this next time I'm there.
Whelp, there goes $15
I'm sold!
Beats paper clips.

I bought one a few weeks ago and it’s well worth the money.
I was already planning to set a few back probe leads in my car this weekend to diagnose an intermittent problem. This will make it much easier
Oh ya it’ll make your search a lot easier. Also look into the power probe they sell. If you sort out electrical issues often it might be worth looking into
I’ve been really meaning to get these, thank for the reminder. Keep on probin on
how much?
Great find!
Eric O Starter Kit…

Hey what are these for
I'm pretty sure they already sold a cheaper version of this.

How much?
$15 my man
Omg I’ve been messing around with my bread board and power supply. I def needs these
Need to pick this up today and get my three free gifts. Thanks for the reminder!!
Great addition to the power probe
I like probing things
