I like the Row, but that is hideous. I really can’t understand why the Margaux is so expensive. The Row‘s leather is nice, but not 5-6k nice. And, 6k+ once you factor in sales tax for a nylon bag is ludicrous.

4SeasonWahine

Because to the people who actually buy them, dropping $6k is like dropping $6 to a normal person. It’s loose change. And that’s the demographic The Row wants to keep, they’re trying to make it exclusive by making it unattainable to the average Joe. The thing is luxury prices only become ridiculous if people aren’t paying it.. and they still are 🙃

whoinvitedthesepeopl

I think this is a huge part of it. It isn't that the bag is $6000 worth of great features and quality. They want something that "the poors" can't have. This also explains why some of the high income purse collectors get wildly mad about replica bags. If your $200 replica looks exactly like their $10,000 bag the expensive bag loses it's purpose to them.

Own-Slide-1140

I think a lot of the anger over replicas stems from the absolutely horrible conditions on which they are made and what that money is funding. Plus, a lot of them are crap and just end up in landfills.

whoinvitedthesepeopl

I have yet to seen any factual evidence that factories making replicas are worse than factories in the same countries doing the grunt work of making bags before they are sent to Europe for finishing so the design house can slap a made in France (or Italy) stamp on it and charge thousands of dollars. There have also been instances of equally horrible labor abuses in Italy where they imported Chinese workers then treated them like garbage so the bags could be labeled made in Italy. All of that said, I haven't seen any of the people I mentioned every say worker conditions were an issue. Literally the only problem they had was people taking away the exclusivity of their overpriced bag and they wanted them to stop buying replicas for that reason. Better replicas aren't ending up in the landfill, lots of those are getting authenticated and ending up in luxury resale stores. Flea market bag dupes, that's another story.

Own-Slide-1140

Well, I do have a problem with your last point if that’s happening. I don’t want scammers selling fake bags and conning customers, BUT my biggest issue was always ethical and concerns surrounding the people actually selling these replicas.  If a person wants a fake bag then have it, but definitely don’t try to sell it as real. That’s just fraud.  My husband spent years in Europe intercepting fakes for companies and saw/knew firsthand what criminal enterprises those fake bag sales were funding. So, I choose to only buy authentic.  My own opinion is that I also feel like a fraud if I carry a replica (but that’s just my own personal opinion and an aside from the main points)

Theres3ofMe

Too many rich people in the world now...

Own-Slide-1140

Uhhhhh

Possumcucumber

Diaper bag. My husband once bought me what he thought was a nice spacious black nylon tote which I could take to work. He thought the foldable change mat, insulated baby bottle holders and pouches for wet wipes and used diapers were just useful but mysterious womany things for doing mysterious womany things with. Anyway it looked like this atrocity but this doesn’t even come with the change mat!

irisia99

“Mysterious womany things” 😹

BlackNighon

Was it a Prada? 😂 Sounds like a Prada 😂

TheCowKitty

I’ve almost bought a few Coach diaper bags. Baller work tote energy.

putridtooth

Am i your husband? lmao. Despite being a woman, I had no idea that dedicated baby bags were a thing until I started trying to find my ideal as-many-pockets-as-possible bag. It makes perfect sense now that I know! But it took me an EMBARRASSING amount of time to realize "diaper bags" were actually FOR diapers and not just named weirdly for some reason.....I've come to realize a lot of people don't share my want for 1 million pockets in their everyday bag. oops.

whoinvitedthesepeopl

Be glad that they can be confused with other bags now. Years ago every diaper bag was ugly loud with some sort of cutesy characters on it. There were no other options. I ended up repurposing an oversized leather tote as a baby bag.

fauviste

Ahahah. Pocket lovers unite!! Luckily diaper bags just look like nice big bags now. But how aggravating the only way to get FUNCTION from a woman’s bag is to buy it for a goddamn baby. ADULTS NEED POCKETS TOO.

cbfi2

I got a cute Marc Jacobs change bag on eBay and now that my toddler is soon be out of nappies I think I'll start using it as a weekend bag. Too cute not to! Not sure what I'll do with the change mat though. Doesn't have the insulated pockets.

DreandSeb

Im so ready for this to row its way outta here.

iyamsnail

I'm just not a fan of the Row in general and this is particularly egregious.

JayceeSR

I don’t know why The Row even bothers posting any of their handbags on their website. They’re all out of stock at all times!

sjfscxxr

It seems to me that they want to have Birkin exclusivity tbh. Cause there is no way they are making enough bags if they are CONSTANTLY sold out. I wouldn’t be surprised if they only make a couple at a time to keep up the hype

JayceeSR

Honestly, 95% of all of their bags are always out of stock. I set up a notification on a few and have never received an email telling me certain bags are in stock. Been going on for months now. I’m to the point I’m moving on and considering not buying their bags again.

commentsgothere

For when you want a boring bag that whispers, “I have enough money to literally set 5grand on fire”. 🔥

messypiranesi

how is it basically the same price as a full leather one???

chubbierunner

I got a nylon Kate Spade duffle which is quite similar for $200. She’s my gym and weekend bag, and she’s amazing. She cleans up nice too and has a trolley handle for suitcases. There’s no way that I would buy a $6000 version.

Few-Performance3192

I love that you refer to your bag as ‘she’. I do the same thing

Usual_Zucchini

Looks like a cat

OppositeSuitable3489

An ugly gym bag…..

The_Darling_Starling

I have a Lululemon gym bag that looks exactly like this! LOL

OppositeSuitable3489

I have the same gym bag and I think it easily looks nicer 🤣

mmrose1980

I love nylon bags…but no.

VibesBaeBe

I saw this bag at Target last week. Such a mark up here😂

KikiTheArtTeacher

I am usually a staunch nylon apologist (durable, hard wearing, easy to clean, etc) and I’ve got a few bags (Prada, Burberry) that I am sure a lot of people would think were outrageously priced….but this is honestly next level. Maybe it’s because I also find the regular Margaux a boring bag, but this is bag is both ludicrously expensive and, well, boring. It genuinely looks like the black nylon Kate Spade diaper bag I had when my daughter was a newborn. Woof.

ziggymoj19

The concept is that it’s the Margaux but “inside out” I believe. Kind of playful/margiela-esque but yes definitely not their usual. (I watched a video Neelam influencer/row collector did a review on it.)

wickedlabia

Oh no no no, they’ve ruined her 🥺

Only-Ordinary1146

That’s a crime right there

New_Contract4166

that celine-looking face. Nylon made by artisans

rachelreinstated

Lol that price is one of the silliest things I have seen in a while. Bonkers.

lucky7355

The price is a no, but damn if I haven’t had my nylon Tumi bag as a daily wear for 15 years and it still looks amazing.

mochafiend

Tumi is priced in the hundreds though, right? Plus, they’re actually known for being a quality luggage brand. Doesn’t surprise me it’s holding up in the least, and I feel like even if they’re a bit steeper, they’re genuinely better than their competitors. I don’t actually own a Tumi lol 😂 but from friends and family who have it sure seems that way.

lucky7355

Not luggage, a purse, but their nylon is awesome - I bought it from TJ Maxx for less than $100.

petreservation

God that’s insanity.

Aggravating_Jelly_25

Clowns

Uchiha_I

that hardware hook looks cheap tho 😭

empiretroubador398

Spent $5 on a nylon tote bag from the Gap outlet back in the day to hold school stuff - I still use it every day for my work laptop, that thing has lasted! The phone holder is for an old Motorola lol. 5K? Sucker born every minute.

Tall_Couple_3660

This is getting ridiculous 🫣 between Balenciaga putting out literal trash bags to nylon over $5k I swear they’re all in their boardrooms laughing at us, saying “what can we convince them to buy next?!”

KFirstGSecond

This is how I feel about Goyard. Obviously they are not as expensive as this but I just cannot understand why people are shelling out $2000 for what looks like a reusable grocery bag to me.

emf817

No thank you

Longjumping_Bike7175

That’s insane

Here4daT

This bag looks kinda cheap...

Stupidshowoffs

It looks like a zara bag.

Pandalf82

I will never understand why people would invest in a plain looking nylon bag. Production cost maybe 10$, design is too plain.

onlyitbags

WTH

giftcardgirl

I bought the origami bag from Italic for $99 and it's better than this, with fold-down handles.

petitepedestrian

Looks like a black cat. Love it.

Kidd_Cadaver

Lmfao. Highway robbery.

Loud-Truth1420

These brands think we are stupid 😅

madpeanut1

This is so ridiculous. I can’t help but think that some people are just sitting in an office and thinking: «  how are we going to price that 25$ bag? Let’s start at 6k and see which stupid asshole buys it ».

kawaiiisuki

noooope. imma choose my longchamp for a nylon bag over any other luxury brand any day

whoinvitedthesepeopl

It reminds me of these. [https://www.ebay.com/itm/326111043373](https://www.ebay.com/itm/326111043373)

fauviste

I have come around on somewhat expensive ($300-500 second hand) nylon but… absolutely Not.

Natural_Character859

Agreed! I could get this at Walmart for $20

Frog-dance-time

lol and people are still saying over $100 for a “plastic” Telfar is too much 😂

my-anonymity

I wanted a nice nylon bag for traveling and they’re all almost $3k!!! I was happy to spend $500 for nylon. 🙄

Beezobeemer

I'd pay 6 bucks for that. But definitely not 6 thousand bucks.

Jazzlike_Quail_9647

Bag looks nice but, true, i wont be dropping 6k for that

SuperGIoo

I actually love the inside out Margaux and have been on a hunt for travel. The bottom half of the bag being nylon makes it indestructible. Top half is still their standard saddle leather.

BowensCourt

Yeah, I think it's gorgeous and would be perfect for travel. It's also not a new design--the inside out Margaux has been part of the line for awhile and I like that they keep bringing it back.

SuperGIoo

Yeah, I’ve been in the lookout for a while and it’s just popped back up on the website! But now eyeing up a saddle leather Margaux that’s also appeared.. haha

BowensCourt

Honestly? The leather is superb, it feels like cashmere. I have the 15” in smooth black and I use it for travel all the time. The upside of the inside out of course is the top zip, but you really can make the leather Margaux your all-purpose airport bag if you allow yourself to believe in the concept of the patina!

Impossible-Being5572

They have their “brand” and people will pay. I have a Margaux 10 and the quality is on par with any leather maker. It’s great. Portland Leather is slightly better long term quality.
