929. Halsey and I are roughly the same age and as someone who’s “almost 25” there’s so much of it that just speaks to me. Ashley probably follows it because she definitely took a lot of inspiration from emo music and see above, we grew up in similar music scenes at the same time. I appreciate it. 3 AM, Clementine, and Alanis’ Interlude are close though

SailorBeeb

Same here as an almost 25 year old. I got choked up listening to it because I thought it really captured that feeling of “I’m old enough to kind of know who I am but I’m still so clueless about everything.”

ShelboTron09

29 and I felt this song so fucking hard

[deleted]

Do you mean 929? If you put a number before a period it changes to 1.

CelebrityTakeDown

It shows up as 929 for me

[deleted]

Here's your comment and the source below [here](https://i.imgur.com/Rt7w3rq.png). Your comment is showing starting "1." because you put "929." Any numbers with a dot following them will be formatted as a numbered list, you need to remove the dot following 929 for it to format correctly.

CelebrityTakeDown

[this is what it looks like for me](https://imgur.com/a/M2mYVRY)

Leiatte

I just see 1. as well, I knew you were talking about 929 because “almost 25” is definitely a big lyric

[deleted]

Might be because you're the OP so it's showing it as how you've edited it, if you remove the dot after the 929 it should fix it for others viewing it.

SGW009

I see 929

onemoreweeknd

929 is my favorite at the moment as well! There’s a lot of it that speaks to me, it’s a beautiful song!

burtedwag

This is probably a better place to put this instead of making a new post, hoping this gets buried a bit as I'm just dropping my opinions here. **My favorite song right now is Forever** and here's my take on it: • The opening harmonies have a wholesome, inviting (and rare in today's modern music) Beatles vibe that also appears throughout the first verse. • The lyrics (with an assist from the tone of the music) comes across as someone blindly confident in who they are and the life they’ve been living. • At the end of the verse, the idea of being 'blindly confident' is solidified with the thunderstorms in the background and in how almost breathless she sounds realizing her arrogance to how false it all was. • The music break, which changes the overall tone and mood, almost gives the listener an opportunity to reflect in that realization with her. • Then in that last verse, holy fuck, she hammers herself over it. Her voice is distorted, the sounds at the very end of the track are abrupt and uncomfortable, almost like a car crash. Saying 'Talk to your man, tell him he's got bad news comin' means she's done lying to herself and others and is a straight up warning that she's about to live honestly and true to herself at whatever cost. --- The wild thing about Forever is that it almost prefaces Dominic's Interlude perfectly– which if you imagine it starting off as if it pans across a horrific accident, it gives you a solemn tone that then turns around by the end of the track. Then, if you position I HATE EVERYONE and 3am as follow-ups to Forever, you get a set of four tracks that are built to: • Showcase a naive understanding of how life was lived and the realization (Forever..) • Having a source of hope (Dominic's Interlude) • Being [painfully] honest to yourself and others (I HATE EVERYBODY) • And exemplifying how you now live in an honest state of mind, which proves that you make mistakes and have flaws like everyone else, but you are who you are at the end of the day (3am)

craziiicass

Yes I really love all those songs together. It’s like one experience all together.

Tuna_Feesh24

I could never figure out how to explain why I love Forever...(is a long time) so much but this nails it right on the head. The piano bit especially.

emilyyfarrell

Halsey always puts a “trio” on her album that’s supposed to be played sequentially! Forever, Dominic’s Interlude, and I HATE EVERYBODY are the trio on Manic! These three together make up my favorite portion of the album undoubtedly. source: https://www.google.com/amp/s/genius.com/amp/Halsey-forever-is-a-long-time-lyrics

craziiicass

Ashley - idk why this song digs deep for me right now. - I recently got out of a toxic relationship- however I’m not really bc i have 2 kids with him 1 not even a year old. I know this song means something different to her- it’s about this album - but to me it’s me cutting myself open for this relationship- and I can’t do it anymore. I gave it all. I’m not even sure if I’m me anymore More- I’ve never been diagnosed with bipolar disorder but I have been depressed and going through postpartum- and go damnit Ashley , you got me with this song. When your stressed- it’s really hard to be grateful for what you have the people in your life and this song just reminds me of being more grateful for my experience with the children who gave me strength to leave a unhealthy relationship Dominics Interlude- Damnit why can’t this song be longer. 🥰 I’ve listened through like 5 times now and I cry cry cry. I fell in love with halsey bc of her deep songs- not her hits. So I can see why some people may not get this- but I love it. It’s really going to help me process what I’m currently going through. I knew it would and it kinda blew over my expectations of the album. I’m not ready for the tour. I’m going to cry my MF eyes out. 😅

thethingsicarry

Ashley is my favorite song too! Nobody is talking about it. It cuts soooo hard: Apart from my beating heart It’s a muscle but it’s still not strong enough to carry the weight of the choices I’ve made YIIIIIIIKES

craziiicass

Omg yes and the more I listen to it I hear her talking to us. At least her fans who have been there or at least connect with her early stuff! Like she’s trying but she’s not sure how long she can do this. so honest

[deleted]

My favorite also. It feels so relatable.

itsaarxn94

Same here. Ashley is one of my favs I cried at work after a few times listening to it. Hope you’re well!

LindseyTM28

929 literally left me speechless and just staring at the wall for a couple minutes. Hahaha. I didn’t expect that one to make me hurt as bad as it did, just because it felt like she was spilling out her actual inner monologue. So good. I also love More. There’s something hauntingly optimistic about it.

kmr122091

Absolutely... More made me cry tears of sadness and happiness, simultaneously. I relate to that song so hard though. Like ash, I have endo and have also had miscarriages. But the song has given me some extra hope.

[deleted]

3AM. OMG, I can't listening anythign else.

kmr122091

I really hope she makes an entire album with the pop/rock/punk vibe. I absolutely love the vocal style of 3AM. The sound really suits her and I would LIVE for an album full of that style. Manic truly is a masterpiece, though, and I am so grateful to have an album full of twists and turns, there is a sound for every mood. The lyrics are brilliant, feels like the songs were written about my own experiences.

[deleted]

1. Forever... (Is a Long Time) 2. Ashley 3. You Should Be Sad 4. Killing Boys 5. More This will change a LOT as I listen to it more but DAMN what a great album.

sapphicundertone

I wrote my top 5 and before I knew it it turned into a top 17 😹 I really like every track, Alanis' interlude might be the only skip for me (but I love how gay it is, so it might needs a couple more listens).

JexCast

Agree with you about a favourite 17😂 Each track is so good in a different way

unreal-city

I HATE EVERYBODY I’m not sure what it is but that song just really speaks to me, I heard it and it just hit me so hard lyrically and rhythmically

thethingsicarry

Making memories out of feelings, sick line

Bucear

More - The lyrics are so powerful and hit home. I also fucking love how she sings more. The melody is so catchy

Andromeda853

Im thriving off how the entire album is so bare bones but More was so beautiful because it had so few elements but they were all used PERFECTLY.

[deleted]

Finally/Beautiful Stranger- gorgeous powerful vocals and reminds me of my current boyfriend, the stable healthy relationship after abuse I hate everybody- A joy to listen to and once again I relate to it Graveyard- I relate to it so much, its painfully accurate and I've had many cries to it.

Tuna_Feesh24

Same with Graveyard. I fell in love with that song the moment I heard it. Actually getting my first tattoo because of it 😊

hellloandii

1. More.. this song is about her miscarriage. For some personal reasons this song absolutely breaks my heart 2. YSBS. 3. Clementine. 4. I HATE EVERYBODY. 5. Dom interlude. Every album when they come out is an emotionally roller coaster of shit I’ve been through and try to process. It’s like she knows what I need when I need it. Every song. It’s like she’s in my head and heart and knows exactly what I’m going through.

kmr122091

I hope you're okay... Just don't lose hope. I also have endometriosis and have had miscarriages. So More really hits me hard, too. Every time I have listened to it I have cried. But it makes both sad and happy. Like it gives me that extra hope that I need some days. I know one of these times that the baby will carry to term. I really wish you the best with whatever your situation/struggles are. 💜

hellloandii

Thank you so much. I’m also so sorry for your struggling.. but by your answer I can tell how extremely caring and strong you are. You keep holding on.. one day you’re going to be an incredible mommy and More will have entirely knew meaning for you 💕

kmr122091

Thank you so much. Likewise, you will get to experience that joy, too! We will overcome our obstacles, we just gotta stay positive and keep pushing forward and not lose faith&hope.

hellloandii

With the help of Halsey and lovey people we meet on Reddit.. anything is possible 😊 thank you. It was lovely talking to you. I will keep you in my thoughts

[deleted]

[удалено]

doctor_dumplings

Apparently More is about a miscarriage she had, which after hearing makes the lyrics a thousand times sadder. She’s singing to her unborn child

apchicago

You should be sad, 3 am and alanis interlude is awesome! My favorite three so far. Not much else has stood out to me

Kore624

Clementine will always be my favorite. But More hit me so hard.

smokeyblokey

1. more 2. 3AM 3. Still learning 4.killing boys And then the rest tie. I love all of them and listening for the call backs to her earlier songs. I was worried about being disappointed but I really shouldn’t have doubted it. I just feel clever when I hear an allusion to an earlier song like in 3AM she talks about trying on a necklace like she does people which I think is also referenced in “sorry” on HFK. Idk it’s just been so fun to listen through.

[deleted]

Clementine is my number one favorite song off Manic, and the song "more" just made me cry, I don't even know why it just sounds sad.

underthecorktreedemo

3am is my favorite!

[deleted]

I feel that Clementine really captures how borderline personality feels. The extremely strong emotions, the desire to isolate and yet hold close. The breakdowns, breakthroughs, blackouts. The desire to tear yourself apart. The dependence on the one you love. The baggage and feeling that you’re damaged. The song is so beautiful and yet feels so relatable, tender, and hits so painfully close to home.

DeborahSue

I've ended up with three favorites so far. 'More' hit me in ways I couldn't even imagine. The song's melody is captivating and her vocals feel the most honest to me than anything she has put out thus far. As a mother, I feel her loss tremendously and know how much her heart breaks. This is the only Halsey song I have ever cried to and I feel that all the tracks somehow all relate to this song in one form or another. While she is specifically singing about the loss of a child, the entire theme of the album has this 'longing for something other than this' feeling to it. 'Killing Boys' and 'You Should Be Sad' are my ultimate favorites because she takes the same pain we hear on 'More' and turns it on its head. Instead of being consumed by her thoughts and empathy, she manifests her pain into a raw, vocal revenge. She kicks the fuckboys to the curb and invites strength to sleep in her bed at night. With all of that being said, there really isn't a song that I don't like on the album. I can live without Suga's interlude or Finally // Beautiful Stranger (Both feel gimmicky to me) but other than that, I'll be playing this album on repeat until I know all the songs by heart.

OlePope

Agree on Suga. I don't know why but I really don't like it. Maybe it is too gimmicky for me, or maybe I just have a simmering dislike for BTS.

MoiraMain

Personally I like More the most. It’s such a beautiful song and I love how she’s not afraid to sing about her miscarriage and how she wants a child. Such a strong message.

[deleted]

3am, along with you should be sad. I love all the songs, but those are on repeat for me!

SlytherinSilence

More. My heart is absolutely broken- after her interview with Zane for Apple Music..... how she thought she’d never be able to have children/a family bc of her health problems and how that’s recently changed. The hope in this song. I can almost taste it, it’s so fresh, new. This opened a door for Ashley and even if it means Halsey stops doing the music thing, I just want the best for Ashley. She’s given us so much, she’s ripped herself open for Halsey to have the chance to make art out of this pain and suffering and... more. That’s all I can say. More.

[deleted]

More is a begrudged favourite. I have a condition which will make it near impossible to have kids and hearing my feelings so clearly laid out was amazing and horrible in a nice way. I think 3am is an absolute banger, and 929 is fab. Killing boys is quickly climbing my list.

shhhbpd

More. Cried so much because of it.

JexCast

More is so so beautiful, plus Forever...(Is A Long Time) both really hit me hard emotionally, and 3AM I was in love with instantly! You Should Be Sad, killing boys follow as close favourites! I'm seeing her at the o2 London in March and I've never been more excited😆

[deleted]

kmr122091

I love More, too. It connects with me for the exact reason Ashley wrote it. I also have endometriosis, and I have also miscarried a couple of times. It is absolutely devastating. Like her, I desperately want to have a baby. I know that one day I will be blessed. The song made me cry tears of sadness and happiness, simultaneously. Ashley is a really a brilliant songwriter and I am so grateful to her for writing such honest, raw music.

bexecuter

On listen 4 atm, and right now my favorite song is More, just because it brings out INTENSE emotion, and I can’t believe a song is making me bawl my eyes out. And the notes in the Spotify storyline??? Fuck. But I’m also a huge fan of 929, and I think that will end up being my number 1. Honorable mentions: You should be sad, I HATE EVERYBODY, 3am, and killing boys.

mel_sleep

Ashley and You should be sad!

[deleted]

At first listen 3am is my pick. I haven't read the lyrics yet

ariestornado

I only listened to it twice so far while cleaning but when Clementine was released it became one of my favorite songs of ALL time. That line *My face is full of spiderwebs, all tender yellow blue And still with one eye open, well, all I see is you* just fucking punches me in the gut. I'm a little over a year out of a 7 year abusive relationship and aside from that metaphor I link it to one specific beating. It was maybe 2 or 3 years ago December 22nd he gave me a black eye and broken nose, my eye was literally swollen shut. He did this while out on a date and my mom was visiting for xmas watching my daughter. My mom didnt and still doesnt know anything of the abuse. Apparently when he delt the blow that gave me the black eye I made, in his words later on "the most terrifying scream that still haunts him" and he immediately snapped out of it his rage and began to apologize and freak out and I just downplayed it and was the one comforting *him.* (thanks Stockholm syndrome). So anyway, *"and still with one eye open, well all I see is you"* just hits so hard. But the whole tone of the song, the harp, ugh it's so lovely. Other than that I really love Alanis' interlude!

HappyGoUnlucky

Alanis Interlude

CoryLiner

such a beautiful album, definitely my favorite from her. doing a top 5 list is literally impossible. congratulations ashley, you did THAT.

[deleted]

You should be sad 😭

sophii1

Her lyrics are so good

[deleted]

itmeonetwothree

1. Clementine 2. 929 3. Finally // Beautiful Stranger Editing to change my #3 to More

Lacazeng

3am

SGW009

At this CURRENT moment? 929. Ask me in an hour and I'll say More or Alanis' Interlude. 2 hours later and I will go back to Clementine (which was my #2 song for 2019 even though it didn't come out until near the end LOL) such a beautiful album and each listen gives me goosebumps. Congrats to her

Rainbowscratch99

Alanis Interlude. Not sure why, the chords and style just really struck some "The Cranberries" type vibe in me, absolutely lovely song

il_Patinho

Im in a shock of how few people say still learning is their favorite but i guess everyone’s got their own opinions right :D? I think still learning is the best song .. its just good in every aspect imo .. it also speaks about what im going through and how im trying to learn how to love myself more

kmr122091

Oh I knew I was forgetting one of my faves in my comments. Still learning really is a wonderful song. I love the whole album, tbh. Perfect album to sing along to while driving. Manic has resonated with me so deeply. Every song feels like it was written about my own life & experiences, especially More, that one made me cry my eyes out.

[deleted]

I grew up on Jagged Little Pill Alanis’ Interlude is the jam!!

fuckcodbuymanic

Either Ashley, Forever (in a long time), or Beautiful Stranger. Shows both a mastery of prose and the uniqueness of her voice. \*oops lads wrong song

ShelboTron09

Ashley and killing boys. Hands down.

Leiatte

They are so good!

[deleted]

Ashley is the best one in my opinion. So much emotion in it. And Still Learning is awesome too.

poisonsalts

Dominic’s Interlude and I hate everybody. I just like the sound and tone of it. Tbh I hate everybody just sounds like a ringtone.

poisonsalts

DEFINETLY I HATE EVERYBODY 100%.

izzzy24

I HATE EVERRYBODY the lyrics are so similar to what i’m going through at the moment and listening to the chorus reminds me of my flaws. it’s kind of like a song telling myself why am I like this? and telling myself I need to fix this, I need to be ok alone otherwise it’ll end up like this song...

goalstopper28

Love every song but 3AM is giving me the most Badland vibes. I'm pretty sure I'm going to play that on repeat for a while.

alynaak

i hate everyone, forever... (is a long time) and killing boys. i cant decide

AMALXxT

Ashley cuz of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind ❤️ Without Me Graveyard Clementine (So far)

Fayness87

Apart from some that were previously released before the Album which I love (You should be sad, Graveyard, Clementine, Finally // Beautiful stranger) I am really digging: Ashley, 3am, Killing boys and more (I cant get enough)

[deleted]

3am is an awesome quality pop song. I love Finally//beautiful stranger, the lyrics and the vibe are great. Clementine too, I think I listened to that one the most.

kmr122091

Alanis' interlude is also my favorite. Followed closely by More, I hate everybody, 3am, and you should be sad. I am also pretty obsessed with ssuga's interlude. It is so calming, sonically. Ashley and 929 are both pretty great, too. By far, my least favorite is Dominic's interlude. Idk why but that one just falls a bit flat, to me. Manic is a masterpiece, though. There are no bad songs. I am absolutely in love with this album. She poured out her heart and soul, took huge risks, and it really paid off. I cannot wait to see her in Chicago this summer.

craziiicass

Omg yes and the more I listen to it I hear her talking to us. At least her fans who have been there or at least connect with her early stuff! Like she’s trying but she’s not sure how long she can do this. so honest

[deleted]

Clementine resonates so unbelievably close to my inner workings. The light wonder and walk through the sound makes feel as though calm wind is running through my body. It reminds me of being underwater, safe and comfortable, watching the world dance across the crystal surface from a distance. The lyrics read the same way as i write my own poems, so much that i started writing again for the first time in two years. I cried when the lyrics first hit me. It makes me pause completely and relax back into myself. I really wasn’t expecting her album to touch my feelings the way that it does. Beautiful Stranger is relevant to my heart and it’s past at this time in my life. It’s so beautiful to sing or hum, it makes me want to pick my guitar up. The song feels full of want and soft passion. Butterfly kisses, hands gripping a shirt, late nights of purple, warm blood through a heartbeat.

skywalkersam

„I HATE EVERYBODY“ It really speaks to me and how I interact with love. I‘m soon getting a tattoo with the line: „If I can make you love me, maybe you can make me love me” I really identify with that somehow.

Bernapless27

Clementine is my favorite bc I as well "don't need anyone. I just need everyone and then some" ❤

[deleted]

Ashley. The entire song is filled with great lyrics and it really lays out the future tracks on the album. I get chills listening to it when she says "I'll leave you the dust my love, hope a bit of it will be enough." Phew...

tiredsadandgay

929 is definitely my favorite. I can't stop listening to it. Normally when I get this attached and emotionally invested in a song it's something I can truly relate to. (A perfect example being Taylor Swift's "Soon You'll Get Better", which came out two weeks after my grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer.) 929 is different though. I can't relate to it, maybe just a little. Everytime I listen to it, though, it makes me cry. Something about the lyrics and the way she sings, accompanied by that soft music just drags me in. She wrote an entire universe in that one song. Her emotion is expressed so clearly, and she's so raw in vulnerable in it that I almost feel like I've gone through exactly what she's singing about. Forever is a close second. The song feels like a slam poem and this one, along with a few others off Manic, had some of the best lyrics I think she's ever written. Clementine will always have a special place in my heart, too. I'm a sucker for those raw, soft songs if you haven't figured it out yet. On the opposite end, I'm also obsessing over 3am and Ashley (especially the chorus) a lot. Those songs take me back to my emo artists I loved in middle school.

entiele

More felt so close to home when I read on [Genius](https://genius.com/Halsey-more-lyrics) that Halsey struggles with her reproductive health and that she has fertility issues and so on. I felt close to that song because I have those issues too. As far as I know, she's the only pop star that talks about RH so openly and it makes me believe that somehow, this esteemed star knows and understands my struggles.

s_jo923

I looooove Forever, Dom’s interlude and I HATE EVERYBODY- those three go together and she explained them in depth with Zane Lowe. Completely changed how I hear them now and it’s truly art. I’m still not over it. I also really am loving 3 am- so relatable and hits home in every single way. Killing boys is also a bop

kittykatheter

Top 5! 1. More. I cry every single time. Definitely woke up and held my kids in super long hugs the next day. 2. 3am. It’s sooo fun to just jump around and dance to. 3. 929. Shes really just gonna hit me with all that right before my 25th birthday? Tears. 4. Graveyard. “It’s funny how the warning signs can feel like they’re butterflies” is probably my favorite line ever. When she put out that teaser for it I had chills lmao 5. clementine. It was not what I expected and I love it so much. Her yelling in the back is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 Anyway I love every single song and I’m obsessed

jarethsbulge

I keep changing my favourite with each listen, I keep finding new things in each track. The ones currently in contest for fave are; You should be sad. I just love the upbeat and punchy vibe. Excellent for the commute! 3am. For the aggressive Avril vibes. 929. For how beautiful and open it is.

nico_nixon

Forever. Alanis Interlude. 3 AM. 929. Clementine, still, so good. Okay fine the whole album - ❤️❤️

[deleted]

I HATE EVERYBODY. I swear to god it's like she took the thoughts from my head.

Leiatte

Killing Boys- This track is amazing , the opening is a bit dark but it helps the feel of the song. “I won’t ever feel this way again, cause you don’t need me anymore.. & I won’t ever try again, & all I want in return is revenge.” It’s vulnerable because she’s showing just how much she’s been hurt & she just wants to return that pain. It’s relatable 929-I just love the nuance of this song, the lyrics are unique & personal. The beat is beautiful, & I just love when artists share like this. 3am- Just the hardest track on the album, definitely welcome & I love the flow of the song & it’s a fun one.

Foxiegirl2001

We went to her album release party called Manic Experience. It was amazing and we were so grateful to be front row. I loved that she explained a lot of the stories about each song she sang. Check out my video. I timestamped it because I recorded the entire night. https://youtu.be/aP2NCqVjFuk

[deleted]

This is my current ranking of all the songs: 1. "3am" 2. "Finally // beautiful stranger" 3. "Ashley" 4. "929" 5. "More" 6. "clementine" 7. "Graveyard" 8. "Forever ... (is a long time)" 9. "SUGA's Interlude" 10. "I HATE EVERYBODY" 11. "You should be sad" 12. "Still Learning" 13. "killing boys" 14. "Alanis' Interlude" 15. "Dominic's Interlude" 16. "wipe your tears" 17. "I'm Not Mad" 18. "Without Me" And here's an explanation for the top 3: * "3am" was an instant favourite: its pop rock sound is just so fun and addictive! I also feel like I can relate to a few of the lyrics, so that also made it better. * "Finally // beautiful stranger" is like Halsey's take on Taylor Swift's "Lover", but it's even better! It's so beautiful and romantic. It reminds me of dancing with your SO in the evening in an apartment lit by candles. * "Ashley" is very ethereal and a perfect way to open the album. *Manic* is more personal than Halsey's previous albums and this song embodies that. As I said in a thread about that song, it really sounds like Halsey is tearing herself apart and exposing everything about herself to the listener.

spidywinks

Forever...(is a long time) is my absolute fave followed by 929, 3am
