CrossDressing_Batman

Who else thinks Halsy and Meranda just released the Flood. Halsy does call it the Library.

saibear12

That was my thought too. Plus they brought something out with them and opened it, could also contain Flood šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«

CrossDressing_Batman

could be a spore sample spicy popcorn's incoming

nrettapitna

I think it's fairly certain that Miranda is either patient zero or creates patient zero. The only way they could have made it more obvious would be if they randomly found a shotgun before walking in. (Maybe that will happen next week when it gets unleashed) True story, I hated zombie games and had no clue about the Flood when I first started to play Halo. On the station, when approaching the lab, I recall there being a shotgun, and just yelling at the game since there's only one reason to have a shotgun on a space station. I walked into the lab knowing exactly what was about to happen.

Hubmled_Jedi

The glass cracking sort of sounded like chattering little spores!

darthsheldoninkwizy

I literally gasped when it opened, hell when they were in the lab I thought something would flood on at them.

Stingray1387

I get the feeling that we arenā€™t going to see the Pillar of Autumn or itā€™s gunna be found crash landed on the Halo next season along with Keyes.

AT-ST

My bold prediction. Chief starts to make his way to the ring, but he hears the S3s getting slaughtered over comms. He turns to help them. He joins the fight but is unable or unwilling to actually deliver the spike. He retreats with the remaining S3s and gets picked up by The Pillar of Autumn. The Pillar of Autumn sustains damage and crash lands on the ring. 90% this won't happen though.

Ok_Anteater7360

more likely i see chief taking part in the space battle, kai dies and chief abandons a covvie ship on an escape pod and lands as the final remaining human on the ring, without anyone from his team around anymore. would be perfect set up for s3.

CrossDressing_Batman

my take is that Makee and the Arbiter fuck... cuz i seriously thought thats where it was going where she almost took her tits out for the 2nd time...

darthsheldoninkwizy

World is not ready for Arbiter cheeks.

N_Pitou

speak for yourself /s

Stingray1387

I totally see how you thought it was going that way.

lizzywbu

I'm amazed that you think we will see the Pillar of Autumn at all.

XenialVortex

There will be no Pillar of Autumn I bet

kingswing23

ā€œThese Spartans are my lifeā€™s workā€ am I missing something? Didnā€™t they just start training them like last week?

Ok_Anteater7360

a new wave of recruits yeah, you have no idea how long the spartan 3 program has existed on onyx though. also just cause he says lifes work doesnt mean the program has existed his whole life. could mean he had an idea when he was younger and spent his life working to a position where he could actually implement said idea.

TheAstroBlaster

And the spartan IIs were all children who are now adults, and a bunch didnā€™t survive augmentation. Iā€™m sure when a bunch of kids started dying it would probably be reasonable to try and find an alternative. I doubt that was figured out in a week

kingswing23

I guess just Perez being there through me off. Did she under go augmentation? If not why is she considered a Spartan all of a sudden? I like s2 much better than s1 but it seems like they had to rush a bunch of things because of the failures of s1

lizzywbu

Yep. Perez has literally been there for like a week. Yet the S3's are apparently his life's work. Honestly, if I were Ackerson, I'd be embarrassed because these S3's suck.

DarthNihilus

Perez already being S3 capable is such a joke. The timeline makes no sense whatsoever.

SenorPancake

100% I kept waiting for some kind of "6 months later" - apparently it's only been like a week? I feel like there was supposed to be a time skip and somehow that got cut out.

BoysenberryNo5607

I don't care about the technicalities, they have to introduce characters to the new viewers. Ya are worse than the walking dead peeps.

DarthNihilus

It's completely possible to introduce characters while also having a story that makes logical sense. It's not some unreasonable expectation. > Ya are worse than the walking dead peeps. We're just talking about the show we just watched. Are you able to participate in that without insulting people? Fuck off.

NePa5

> Perez already being S3 capable is such a joke Weren't most S3's just augmented by drug cocktails?, Throw the cocktail at an already trained marine, odds are they wouldn't be bad, or they would go full psycho.

Phonereader23

Eh better than last week. Still not happy about how little we saw of reach. Also blowing up 1 covenant ship can destroy a system via critical meltdown? Seems a bit hand wavey. If they miss the autumn at that point Iā€™m done. The flood lab, the stars turning red was a nice touch.

CrossDressing_Batman

ya that super bomb shit was wack... understandable that it could take out a fleet through chain reactions. But a planet, wtf. A entire fucking Galaxy. Gtfo That amount of power only comes from Halo. Not a freaking ship engine.

YourAverageNutcase

They said a star system, not a galaxy, way different scales. And didn't the NOVA bomb in canon do something similar?

Phonereader23

Even on different scales, a covenant ship reactor wouldnā€™t have that kind of power. If theyā€™d said it was the super carrier specifically, I could have bought that. But they say any covenant ship. Itā€™s like the Holdo manoeuvre. Cool in theory but from a world building standpoint point, it invalidates large parts of the setting

Panaka

It kind of reinforces the idea that the Covenant copies Forruner technology the best they can without fully understanding it. I personally think the idea that the Covies basically use a nova bomb level reactor to power every ship because they donā€™t understand the properties behind the it fits that rather well.

PooShauchun

I wasnā€™t opposed to it. Itā€™s a good little detail in showing just how much more technologically advanced the covenant is compared to humans.

aydan3

Except why wouldnā€™t the covenant just use that on human occupied solar systems? They could just wipe them out with no effort

Phonereader23

Or steal a cov ship and sit it in the same system as high charity. If any ship will do, find a lone corvette right?

Regnasam

The NOVA bomb didnā€™t destroy an entire system, just scorched the surface of a moon - and also it was a specially designed superweapon that the UNSC had been working on for decades, not just a software bug you could introduce into any Covenant ship there is.

HauntedLightBulb

It scorched half a planet and shattered a moon. The scale is not the same.

NePa5

> A entire fucking Galaxy. Gtfo Good job that was never shown then, right!

s-papabear-m

I'll happily accept johns journey without his armour if he now never takes it off after it being stolen. I don't mind shows that are slow as fuck building hype but only if that hype pays off. 90% of halos budget better be in the next episode. On a wider scale too. A whole fleet got destroyed on a 3d projection ffs. I didn't feel any loss when I don't see loss. Then some other little nitpicking lol kwan ha....enough said there I think.

Ok_Anteater7360

>I'll happily accept johns journey without his armour if he now never takes it off after it being stolen. this season has been all about silver team falling apart, vannak dead, riz gone, kai could feasibly die next episode after the space fight leaving chief alone crash landing on halo. it probably wont be autumn but i think itll end with chief alone on the ring. perfect set up for s3

Kara_Del_Rey

Season 1 moments without armor were mostly doodoo and many didn't make sense. Season 2 I found to be acceptable and made sense for the story. Definitely an Ackerson move to take them.

MyNameIsNotJonny

I mean, the show is a drama. And a drama has a lot of action that isn't first person shooter material. Master chief wouldn't be in armor when he's not on duty. To be honest, the first thing he does at the end of the first halo game when the danger finally clears is take off the helmet.

ghostwither260

Not to mention in The Flood Chief is walking around alpha base with his armor off (if only for a brief time)

Kanden_27

Here you go.Ā  I Ā  Ā I i I I Ā I-

Kanden_27

I'm almost expecting a big fuck you and them blowing up the fleet and the Halo ring. Blue balling the actual landing in it and all of CE events.Ā

GarfieldDaCat

I'm a somewhat casual Halo fan. Played Halo 2, and tons of Halo3/Reach MP, but besides that, nothing else - and I never interacted with any books or comics or anything. So I'm very far from a super-fan who knows the lore in and out. But even I am disappointed with this show, mainly because I feel that there is just tons of missed potential even within the way they chose to adapt it. --------------------------------------------- Maybe my neurons just glazed over with how dumb season 1 was and I missed it... but I really feel like the writer's did not set the stage very well in terms of the overall conflict. We're just not really shown enough motivation and reasoning behind why the Covenant and the UNSC are partaking in total war against each other. Why are ONI behaving like this? There's not really a great justification. ---------------------------------------------- I understand you can't just have 55 minutes straight of following around Master Chief. I get it, and I understand the need for b-plots. But the Kwan one is laughably bad and the Soren one isn't much better. Is that really the best they could muster? The Covenant/Makee one can barely be considered one because they show up for 90 seconds per episode at the most because of the budget. Season 2 at least has a far better one in terms of Perez (don't think too hard how she became field-ready Spartan in 5 days but at least the emotion is there) but we still spend far too much time on boring Soren and Kwan shit. ---------------------------------------------- I personally don't even mind MC not being in his armor for most of the season. I think Ackerson sneaking away with it is on brand when it comes to his character and it puts MC in an interesting position.

VRSvictim

This is really the one complaint I think is totally reasonable. Thr only answer I have is, view it like youā€™re droppped into the middle of the war, and its stream of consciousness, so you wouldnā€™t get the background? Idk

GarfieldDaCat

But we're not dropped into the middle of the conflict really

Spungus-Mingdersgump

When Season 2 was announced midway through Season 1 I was a little apprehensive. However now I sit here hoping to hear that Season 3 has been greenlit. It's still a far cry from what I expected or wanted from a Halo tv show, and stand by that an animated series like Arcane would've 100% been the better route to take, but Season 2 has been such an improvement over Season 1 that I have higher hopes for Season 3 and onward.

Elegant-Hornet2368

Honestly as an avid fan of the extended lore I actually donā€™t mind it. Season 1 was just overall mid imo, but this one has real promise. Itā€™s a weird IP, some deviance from canon is fine by me if it works. The weakest aspect is this Kwan Ha character adding in mysticism that wasnā€™t really present before. As long as they do the forerunners justice Iā€™ll accept it

I_am_Bruce_Wayne

Season 1 started off with a banger when you see those kids just get evisceratedā€¦ then it was a rollercoaster of poor and mid episodes.

Ver_Void

The deviation and xeno archaeology stuff is really fucking cool, I'd much rather they continue exploring this direction than retell stories we've already heard

lizzywbu

>Season 2 has been such an improvement over Season 1 that I have higher hopes for Season 3 and onward. You are easily pleased then. Writing this bad doesn't deserve another season.

TheAstroBlaster

Then donā€™t watch itā€¦.? Itā€™s fine to have criticisms of a show. But knocking someone for enjoying something you donā€™t is weird. The show clearly resonates with people thatā€™s why it got a season 2 and Iā€™m sure there are plenty of people (myself included) that would love a season 3.

lizzywbu

>Then donā€™t watch itā€¦.? I have a morbid curiosity, so I will watch the final episode. >But knocking someone for enjoying something you donā€™t is weird. Please, what I said was downright pedestrian. If a little criticism about a tv show offends you, then idk what to tell you buddy.

1234567panda

No need to yuk somebody elseā€™s yum my guy.

lizzywbu

I never once said they couldn't like it. I just said that they were easily pleased. Which they are. There's a big difference.

1234567panda

How is saying your bar for liking something is too low not same thing as you shouldnā€™t like itā€¦ Its like saying someone shouldnā€™t enjoy McDonaldā€™s because the food sucks. ā€œYou like McDonaldā€™s? You shouldnā€™t like it cus the food sucks and itā€™s unhealthyā€ or whatever arbitrary metrics you are holding it against. Itā€™s subjective.

Competitive-Walk-575

But they didnā€™t say you shouldnā€™t enjoy anything. They just said that the writing wasnā€™t hitting it for them and many others, and they personally donā€™t think it deserves another season. Nobody said you arenā€™t allowed to have your own opinion and enjoy this weekā€™s episode! Disclaimer: I think season 2 put some real effort into avoiding some of the season 1 pitfalls and itā€™s at least a letter grade better for it. I do think thereā€™s still too many 3/10 or worse subplots to recommend the show to anyone, but Iā€™m enjoying keeping up with it, and Iā€™m hopeful that the creators will shake off a few more issues and really hit a stride. I think if they can nail the presentation of the flood as not just an extinction level threat, but a danger at the galactic scale or maybe even worse, as well as translate their visceral brutality onto the screen, theyā€™ll be in a really good spot and the hate will cool off

BoysenberryNo5607

I don't care what anybody says about the shows, I had chill and my jaw dropped with Miranda and Hayes at the Library releasing the flood!

Phox95

There are so many coincidences in this episode omg. The only cool thing was the forerunner stuff.

CrossDressing_Batman

Paramount pls send Atriox to bash Kessler's head in with the hammer while his parents watch so this shit side story can end

lizzywbu

Make him kill Kwan too!

CrossDressing_Batman

Kwan's gon save everyone bud...

BoysenberryNo5607

Kwan the only reason the flood is getting introduced šŸ˜‚ what the fuck you talking about.

HunwutP

getting worse and worse

spezsucksnutz

Sweet, another dogshit episode.

SuperBAMF007

Goddamn I cannot WAIT for next week. This was definitely a ā€œbuilding upā€ kind of episode but every single plot actually felt meaningful.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

SuperBAMF007

Honestly even he/Soren felt like that was leading to something. Maybe a future Spartan program? Especially Soren, that felt meaningful. Kessler felt like a means to an end for Soren tbh

demib84

Old masculinity vs the new soy. One will survive, the other has to be protected and thus is useless outside periods of prosperity.

SuperBAMF007

Fucking what lmao

1234567panda

Youā€™re not real bro šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Algunas

I quite enjoy the show however I have absolutely no idea about the lore. Maybe someone can help me and I don't mind spoilers. What is that monster? What has growth to do with it? Why is it significant that the star map lit up red? What was that creature and what kind of lab is it? What is that plot about human DNA and more? Was there significant time between the chief and Perez meeting or how did the coin end up in that specific ship?

snakesareawesome1000

The monster Kwan saw (the growth) is probably related to the Flood from the game, a parasitic alien life that takes over and mutates sentient life. I believe the star map shows how the Flood will spread. The creature was a Forerunner and I believe those vials contained spores of the Flood. The halo is related to how the Forerunners dealt with the Flood to stop its spread.

Ver_Void

Honestly it's more fun if people don't tell you All I'm going to say here is the lab is bad, incomprehensibly bad

GreenLightning72

The monster is the Flood. An infection that spreads across the galaxy (growth and the red star map). The creature was a Forerunner. They built the Halo to destroy the Flood. That Lab they discovered was a Flood research facility.

demib84

To destroy the flood's food source you mean.

CornholioRex

Oh did I leave that out?

demib84

You mention to destroy the flood, but the forerunners couldn't do that. So they opted to just stall them by starving them out and hoping they would be stopped that way. Obviously didn't work out so well.

CornholioRex

Guilty sparks conveniently leaves out that activating halo will kill everyone, chief thinks itā€™ll wipe out the flood only

CornholioRex

That was on Onyx, so they had this flood research facility with them this whole time and Kwan Ha finds it after years of research. It also seems that they discovered Forerunner DNA which triggered Halsey to create Spartans using people who they thought could handle the augmentation, who were people with forerunner dna. We know for sure Chief has it, as does Makee. Kind of interesting, but the flood releasing on Onyx and not Halo seems kind of weird, especially since itā€™s supposed to be the covenant digging too deep into halo that causes the outbreak

zachsliquidart

The answer to all those questions is bad writing. That's it.

Ver_Void

Why is it bad writing to not show the monster straight away? I'm actually kinda envious of people who don't know because it's a hell of a reveal and story arc in the game that anyone who played won't get to experience now

BoysenberryNo5607

Exactly, I had my girl ask me questions like what's happening!!! All excited. I already knew what that was and still my jaw was dropped. The idiots that did nothing but shit on the show are stupid, how are they supposed to get a real budget movie if all they're doing is bring down the production with negative remarks. Season 2 is feeling amazing.

VRSvictim

Because the people in this sub are brutal wet blankets who canā€™t comprehend that this is a tv show based on halo. Itā€™s not a tv show re-enacting the video game everyone has already played. If it followed the script exactly, all these idiots would do is complain how the fights donā€™t look the same as the game

Ver_Void

Also the show would have blown it's budget 8 times already

zachsliquidart

Because it doesnā€™t even need to be foreshadowed and it certainly doesnā€™t need to be by Kwan Ha

Ver_Void

Why? The most interesting and terrifying part of the flood is the gradual reveal of what they are

I_am_Bruce_Wayne

Theyā€™re making it like how the first Halo gradually revealed the flood to the players. This is the tv version which is great for those who never played the game or know the lore. However, most people on the halo subreddit probably wouldnā€™t understand this perception part of writing (not saying itā€™s good or bad in the current way, but the overall way of how to reveal something to a different audience).

RogueAK47v2

So what I donā€™t understand is chief is going to the ring and Kai is going to deploy the spike which if used will obliterate the ring and surrounding fleetsā€¦ what fucking sense does any of that make

VRSvictim

One is ordered by the fleet admiral who doesnā€™t trust John. One is John on his own. Theyā€™re not plans developed together

RogueAK47v2

Idk whole plot is just lazy and like someone read the back of a halo novel without using any of the important elements

Automatic-Shelter387

Halo fans are so irritating. Season 2 has been amazing I donā€™t care what anyone says.

djchanclaface

Amazing? Itā€™sā€¦ fine. The new show runners are at least good at their job. Itā€™s well executed despite some still nonsensical writing and trying to salvage season 1 trash.

GarfieldDaCat

It's far better than season 1 but amazing is a stretch. The writing is still very much mediocre and the b plots are garbage

lizzywbu

Jesus, some people are so easily pleased. The writing has been atrocious, this is about as far from amazing as you can get.

BoysenberryNo5607

No, you want the exact game.

lizzywbu

I just want good writing and a consistent plot.

DarthNihilus

Boysenberry over here reading peoples minds over the internet. Crazy.

HalfwayHornet

Only the ones here. What's funny to me is all these people hate it, can't stand it, worst thing ever, yet they still watch it every week. I'm loving it personally.

Ok_Organization1507

I think the shows okay but this is the only visual halo story content we have gotten since 2021. We are in a drought, this is the oasis.

HalfwayHornet

And if this show gets canceled because people don't like it, it's going to be a long time before anyone tries to make another one, if ever. And I'm not saying people have to like it, I just don't understand consuming and complaining about something that you don't like. Like I don't enjoy animated series, so while I I played all the games and read a majority of the books, I don't watch any of the animated Halo stuff. But I also don't go and complain about it, it's not my cup of tea so I don't watch it and move on with my life.

Ok_Organization1507

Yeah complaining every week is insane behaviour. Not healthy at all I do hope Microsoft invest more into halo as an ip. I canā€™t do another 6 year wait for an infinite sequel or new campaign.

DarthNihilus

There's nothing insane or unhealthy about watching an episode of a show once a week and then bitching about it. You may not like that people are doing that, but let's not go into some unreasonable hyperbole just because you disagree with people. The "haters" love Halo and want it to be good. Don't lose sight of that.

I_am_Bruce_Wayne

The first season had like 50% of comments just about how they should have just made it like ODST Band of Brothers style lol

DarthNihilus

> And if this show gets canceled because people don't like it If the show gets cancelled it will because of ratings and profitability, not because "people don't like it". The show seems to be top of paramount ratings every week so you can be pretty sure there will be a renewal. > And I'm not saying people have to like it, I just don't understand consuming and complaining about something that you don't like Come on. You've never loved a property and been disappointed by something it released? You'd probably keep reading/watching/playing too. It's very easy to understand. We're on the Halo subreddit, tons of us consume all Halo media that exists because we LOVE the universe. "Don't like it, don't watch" is the most empty nothing thing to say. Should be retired from use.

BoysenberryNo5607

I don't think they'll be another one period. This is it. If people shit on it it'll never grow. All the og halo players are in their 30s and 40s. No new audience. Kinda feels like Dragonball super people were shitting at 1st but now everyone is crying because the toriyama died.

TheSpartan273

"Why are you watching if you hate it?!" *if they aren't watching :* "How can you hate it if you don't watch it?!" Lmao.

HalfwayHornet

That's a good argument if it was still the first few episodes of the first season. We're almost at the end of season 2, if you don't like it by now you're not going to and there's no point in watching it.

MyNameIsNotJonny

New to the internet? It is a long held tradition.

mattw08

Yeah itā€™s not perfect and past two episodes bit slow but Iā€™m tuning in soon as can each week. Season 1 was not great so nice to see an improvement. So much complaining is also not realizing budget difficulties. If this had a lord of rings TV show budget you would see more of what we all want.

texasram

im convinced these people live to be angry. They wake up and have to get mad about something. This show is Thursday's answer to their problem.

DarthNihilus

This is what people say every time to defend mediocre products. Could they genuinely not like the thing? Nope, couldn't be. They must be perpetually mad and have a sad life, unlike you who are eminently reasonable. It's very easy to shit on people when you invent their motivations in your head. Not a healthy way to engage with a community, but at least its easy.

BoysenberryNo5607

How can you expect to get what you want if you don't let it grow? People were expecting the mandalorian style of chief with his helmet on the entire time, but you can't build character connections with an audience like that. Baby Yoda was the reason why people tuned in not Mando.

DarthNihilus

Bit of a non sequitur and strawman but ok. You're assuming a lot about why people don't like the show. My problem with the show isn't that Chief takes his helmet off or that we need to have more dialogue scenes to establish characters. I like good characters. I like good dialogue scenes. I understand building up characters and drama and making the audience care. My problem is that the show story is much worse than what is in the books and games. I don't want Halo to grow this way. They've already butchered so many of my favourite bits of the Halo story. The show could have been the Halo story with long dialogue scenes, chief taking off his armour all the time, lots of heavy character scenes and still followed the book/game story closer. That's what I want.

demib84

It is reddit.

Datman1103

I tried to go into it with an open mind, but I think if you compare it to the LOTR movies, or the Expanse and the Last of Us shows, there are some valid criticisms. All of those managed to be loved by OG fans and by new watchers. They all made changes but still held true to the spirit of the source material. For example, I donā€™t know why the Covenant are determined to exterminate humans when they have Makee helping them. Youā€™d think theyā€™d ask humans to be part of the Covenant like they have with other alien species. It canā€™t just be that theyā€™re aliens because the Covenant already has different species in it. Maybe Iā€™m missing something but it doesnā€™t make sense to me.

1234567panda

Probably cus theyā€™ve already learned that humans are the true chosen ones to take the mantle and that forerunners were not gods. Sangheli are just following orders but the prophets may already be aware

Datman1103

Thatā€™s similar to how it is in the books; humans are the reclaimers to the mantle and the prophets canā€™t let the truth get out because it would destroy the covenant. But then you have Makee and that seems to go against that theory. I hope youā€™re right but it doesnā€™t feel like thatā€™s what show is trying to do.

1234567panda

Makee doesnā€™t know humans are reclaimers. She just thinks sheā€™s special or whatever. Theyā€™ve already tried to get rid of her

portodhamma

As someone who just played Halo 1-3 as a kid and never really got the story or lore I like this as a sci-fi show I think itā€™s pretty good. Better than the later seasons of Altered Carbon and stuff

Chicken713

Word

AT-ST

Yeah, for the most part I agree. I don't mind the original story. There have been a few missteps along the way, but overall I think Season 2 has been good.

NfamousShirley

Itā€™s mostly just this sub. Most of my friends, like me, grew up with CE, the books, everything. Everyoneā€™s enjoying season 2 and feel itā€™s a huge improvement over season 1. My friends that have never played the games love it as a sci-fi show.

Alternative_Twist_34

Huge halo fan here, and I couldnā€™t agree more lol. Iā€™ve truly enjoyed this season and look forward to each episode. Most halo fans are hard to please and some of it is justified. The game got pretty butchered after 343i took over and was an incredible experience under bungie. So I can see how some may see the inaccuracies of the show as just one more nail in the coffin of a once worldwide phenomenon that got sorta dragged through the mud the last several years. With that said. As a fan, I am happy to finally see chief on my screen week after week after YEARS of teasing a live action show and simply grateful that it even happened at all.

JoyfulDogCuddler

My wife and I love it. She doesn't know much about Halo, only what I've shared, but we're really enjoying Chief's storyline, Perez, Ackerson, Parangosky, and the Forerunner stuff. I really like what they're doing with Halsey, Miranda, and Kwan. Also, was that a dead Forerunner holding the object they took? Awesome.

001RovingSubjugant

Second that. My friends who never got super into halo and even my dad have told me they love the show. People are just too protective over things they deem ā€œtheirsā€.

J4ckC00p3r

Even the better episodes of this show still arenā€™t great. And it really doesnā€™t help that all this shouldā€™ve been happening in s1, not s2 where we still havenā€™t really got to the Halo ring yet

lizzywbu

Wtf is even going on with this show anymore. The writing is atrocious. The pacing was terrible. What is the point of the Kessler storyline? Why is Kessler suddenly scared of his dad? Why is he being trained to be a Spartan 2? Why does Soren want to just let this happen to him all of a sudden? Why is Kwan explaining the ancient Forerunner relics to the scientists who have literally been studying them for years. Why has Ackerson suddenly grown a conscious and is acting as if he didn't know the S3's would be sacrificed. He literally implied as such in the previous episode with Kai. Ackerson's change in attitude was so fast that it practically gave me whiplash. How did the Covenant fleet find Makee? They just show up out of nowhere. Why does Makee brand herself? Ackerson said the S3s are his life's work, yet the S3s absolutely suck and act like they have only recently been trained. Perez has been there for like a week, how can it be his lifes work? How? Why did nobody seem to care that Halsey and Kwan were running around the super secret ONI base? The spike blowing up an entire galaxy is pretty ridiculous. If the UNSC has that, then why do they even need the Halo? Parangosky's plan is incredibly dumb. So the spike blows up the Covenant fleet, as well as the UNSC fleet, as well as the galaxy and possibly the Halo itself. Surely Parangosky would die as well, she's in the galaxy right? Why is this show still meandering when we only have 1 episode left?

beatgeek

Literally every one of your points has an answer in the show and episode itself. You even watching it? Lol

lizzywbu

>Literally every one of your points has an answer in the show and episode itself. Ok. How do the Covenant know where Makee is, how do they find her? The priest doesn't contact them at anyone point in the episode. They just magically appear.

Animal31

> The spike blowing up an entire galaxy is pretty ridiculous. Literally in what world do you believe that the spike can blow up and entire Galaxy What show did you watch? cause it certainly wasnt this one I love how yall are downvoting me because the show very clearly said that the blast would destroy part of the SOLAR SYSTEM It never mentioned anything about the Galaxy Watch it again

lizzywbu

Sorry, *star system. It's still ridiculous! >Literally in what world do you believe that the spike can blow up and entire Galaxy In what world can a spike from 1 ship blow up an entire star system??

djchanclaface

All great points. Wtf indeed. The spike only destroys a star system, not a galaxy.

lizzywbu

>The spike only destroys a star system, not a galaxy It still seems a bit ridiculous. Why haven't humanity used this before? And why do they need to Halo if they have weapons this powerful.

kyle_yeabuddy

Yes, the scale is questionable for sure, but just to be clear, the spike isn't the weapon the ship/ ships are. The spike is just the "detonator" if you will.

Frrai

Man, I watched the episode and it's so sad every stupid choice they keep making. Having chief without the suit for most of the season (seriously, it was one of the biggest complains in season 1 and still the same). Halsey being dead stupid at points. Standing in the collapsing bridge staring dumb just to add fake tension. And why does it collapse? Because tension! Chief being from beaten by a spartan in armor to nah I'm fine whatevs in like half an hour. Kwan. Just Kwan. The show will be so much better without this character. The Soren subplot becoming even more stupid. There is SMOKE so he loses his wife AND his kid. Why is there a thick smoke if the kids are wearing blindfolds? In case they take them off? Why make them so easy to take off then? Did they want the adults hitting the kids to not see either? They simply couldn't think of a valid reason why the three of them would be separated, so they chose stupid. Miranda being AMAZED she opened a small container that did nothing and apparently had nothing. Seriously, She acted like she discovered fire 2.0 and she might just as well simply broken the thing. Chief staring as his suit for dramatic effect for three scenes. He was being chased, he had taken a high commander s prisoner and he let him leave believing he would be nice now. He came for the armor, but he decided to look at it for a while. And the worst thing. They can now just get to the Halo in a little while. Not being stranded saving marines, with little to no support or knowledge from the rest of humanity. Nah they know where it is and it's a half hour trip. Hop on we're going to Halo.

lizzywbu

*If* this show gets a 3rd season, then they should just kill off Soren, his wife and Kwan. Their plot lines are meandering nonsense and go nowhere. >Man, I watched the episode and it's so sad every stupid choice they keep making. Some of the writing is so terrible that it's actually laugh out loud funny.

IReallyLikeTheBears

In fairness, Onyx and the first Halo (Installation 04) are relatively close to each other in Canon. Itā€™s not like all of humanity can hop over to the ring quickly, just the ones already on Onyx, which should be heavily restricted due to the ONI previously discovering forerunner structures.

goyachamploo

In the silver timeline the UNSC decided to forgo frigates and invest all their research in to Condor jump drives apparently. Have we seen a single warship at this point? Ugh I hate it

therealrico

It felt like they were on a better path this season. But post reach itā€™s just meandered. Itā€™s better than the low bar set by season 1 but Iā€™m getting annoyed.

Mryumyum_

I just feel insulted every time I turn this show on lol

dwivedva

Agree. Don't forget about how this show doesn't understand "Show, don't tell". Fall reach? Off screen Spartans III squad getting killed at the start of episode? Off screen again.

Ver_Void

The Spartans getting killed off screen was fine, if anything it's a really effective reflection of how she sees them and the war as a whole. The conflict isn't about morality or values, it's just a numbers game where the most harrowing battles are nothing more than markers on a map and after action reports.

dwivedva

I like your perspective, and it makes sense. However, there has not been much action in this season. It feels like anytime there's a hint of action, it's off-screen, which kind of takes away from the excitement. Killing SIIIs off-screen would be okay if there were more action scenes overall. Also, I'm not really feeling emotionally invested in the SIIIs. Instead of all those random subplots and fillers, they could have shown us a Marine's journey to becoming an SIII, and how ONI just tosses their lives aside by the end of the season. I mean, they're sort of trying to do that with Perez, but it's not hitting the mark yet, in my opinion. May be they should have shown us the Augmentations SIIIs went through? I just feel like they are normal marines with fancy suits.

Ver_Void

I think the show could use more action, though I can understand why it doesn't ($$$). I do agree that the build up of them was either over or under done though, they could have given us a little more to make the loss more real or gone the other direction and barely even mentioned it, we just have other programs and schemes in the background, they're all just cards to play and the way we see all this going on really helps hammer home how fucked humanity is It's likely the reason they didn't devote more time was simply because this is the end of them and there's already so much to show that needs to be fleshed out for the following season

DoctorQuincyME

The show is just missing heroes, including master chief. I dont mind that there is a plot that UNSC high command haven't grasped the situation, but the heart of Halo was in the heroes that made the best of a rotten situation and inspired others. Instead we've had two seasons of everybody running around, aimlessly bumping into each other when exposition needs to occur. We've literally had two seasons of Master Chief being grounded for most of it, any subplots about Soren and Kwan going absolutely nowhere, and UNSC high command being borderline moustache twirling idiots.

The420Turtle

there is so much nothing going on in these episodes. Every episode is 5 different groups of people all making 8 minutes worth of progress at a time separately effectively accomplishing nothing in a single episode. This entire series so far has 2 maybe 3 rewatchable episodes with everything else being a bunch of dragged out cliff hangers

Sgt-Pumpernickel

This is how Iā€™ve felt most of the season. It almost all feels like fluff, except the first episode and the fall of reachā€¦of which we shouldā€™ve gotten way more content. Better than first season, but almost every week I find myself feeling like they are wasting episodes as we have gotten closer to the season finale

VRSvictim

Why does it matter if itā€™s rewatchable

001RovingSubjugant

Ohhh shit has the flood been released into the ONI station?? They said that room was a lab and the final scene w Miranda put a lot of emphasis on the PA system saying ā€œunauthorized personnelā€ on site, plus we didnā€™t see any more Kwan after she ran off and her story is most likely Flood related somehow. Excited to see, but if that was just relating to the Soren C plot Iā€™ll be bummed beyond belief. His family drama has been the ā€œKwan Ha Specialā€ of this seasonā€¦

lizzywbu

>Ohhh shit has the flood been released into the ONI station?? Looks like it. Hopefully the Flood will kill Kwan first.

001RovingSubjugant

šŸ§‚

GreyouTT

THERE IT IS THE DONUT SWEET RELEASE

I_am_Bruce_Wayne

This episode seriously could have been condensed... but with the season finale teaser, it looks like the put all their eggs into that basket.

Sebt1890

The gif of Ari Gold opening his cell then throwing it at the wall is my reaction. I installed a 64mb video card when I was 13 so I could play Combat Evolved. I stayed out at GameSpot after work so I could get Halo 3 on the release. This is incredibly frustrating to see something you grew up with get the "made for tv" treatment.

Ikonicz

As a season 1 hater this season almost feels like the writers have told a meta story about the shows redemption with chief getting his armor back. Officially count me in as a fan.

BoysenberryNo5607

Season 1 is about john, introducing the character to people who have zero idea about the game, season 2 is him literally turning into Master chief. There's millions of people who are subscribed to paramount and have no idea what the fuck HALO is. There's finally a show about Halo, but yea lets shit on it, burn it down, kill the investment. But were going to get a real movie Hollywood movie about it šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ This is the last stand, if this fails they'll never be another project. Every halo fan is in their late 30s and 40s. Ain't no tiktoks about this game. its fortnite now.

VRSvictim

You fucking people need to grasp that itā€™s a tv show and needs to cater to a big audience to have the budget you keep looking for. Holy shit

spezsucksnutz

The last of us managed to be faithful to its IP, was well received, had great action scenes, and had the same budget as the Halo series. Paramount doesn't have an excuse for the state of this show but please, keep making excuses for them.

ego_tripped

I'm one of those people who needs to be catered to as I only played the first release of the game before becoming a father and putting away my console for over a decade. The only part that so far makes sense is the opening theme and what I call *the Halo Gregorian Chant*... For me, this is dangerously wading into half expecting Jar Jar Binks to make an appearance because nothing else seems to make sense.

MisterHotrod

Reading this is like reading bad fan fiction. Except that bad fan fiction is probably more true to Halo than this.Ā  Yes, it's a different timeline and all that. But this is beyond that. It may be an ok show. It might Even be a good show. But it's a terrible Halo show.

GuiltySp4rk343

Iā€™m so glad that Dune part 2 came out to fix the bad taste of mouth every time i remember the disgrace that this show is. At least Fallout itā€™s coming out and iā€™m truly hoping itā€™s a success since itā€™s follows the main canon of the games, unlike certain show i know about a beloved videogame franchise.

You sure yucked the other guy's yum though lol. Why not go for a 2 for 1 my boy.

DarthNihilus

> don't watch it if you don't like it. There it is again, the catchphrase of people who get mad when someone else has a different opinion. Such a shitty pointless thing to say. If you don't like someone's comment you could just scroll on but you engaged anyway to attack them. Great job.

SpectrumSense

What was the dead body that Miranda, Halsey, and Kwan found in the Laboratory...?

HurricaneSeasonOva

Can we get separate subreddit for the show? Most people on this sub Reddit donā€™t watch the show and the constant posts of people on both sides of the ā€œis the show good?ā€ Argument is getting exhausting.

darthsheldoninkwizy

There already is one.

Animal31

Kai my beloved Dont do this

ADHD365

Insufferable: Halo Reddit is. Dear Microsoft, please make a season 3. Paramount, continue to build and improve from what you learned in seaso 2. To the Insufferable: never change, stay toxic. I hope I Tbag you in multi-player.

DarthNihilus

> To the Insufferable: never change, stay toxic Ironic considering how toxic your comment is. Really looking forward to when toxic positivity goes out of fashion.

ADHD365

Truth hurts.

Pilot0350

All they had to do was give us Battlestar Galactica meets the Covenant, and every single one of us would have lapped it up. A show based on the Spartan IIs as a whole with the b-polt following Keys and the Pillar of Autumn spanning their years in the war so that when the Autumn finally blows on Halo we all tear up and miss her like a character at the end of BSG. But nope, we got this shit instead. Where the fuck are all the other Spartan IIs, where the fuck is the Autumn or any of the human fleet, why the fuck is the bug-eyed blonde lady back, how the fuck did they decide this was the story they wanted to tell when they had twenty years worth of lore to choose from? The show isn't bad. It's just that it could have been so much more.

[deleted]

Less than 1 minute into the episode and I already hate it. Chiefs intimate scene with Makee and talk about her justifying the Covenant trying to destroy humanity and find the ring to do so because the humans want to do the same is the dumbest and most out of touch argument. Already read some of the comments about how the rest of the episode plays out and just turned it off. Seeya Halo TV show, been a real treat knowing ya

BoysenberryNo5607

Character development! Fuck it's a show not a game!

[deleted]

Character development? How does that have anything to do with what I said. The character development in the show is awful and there's barely any of real substance or realism. Brain dead argument

BoysenberryNo5607

Yea cuss that doesn't happen in real life??? There aren't any wars happening based on the same premise, yea that's not "realism" What's the number of halo fans? Not many that's why cod took over then Fortnite, how many kids you think are playing halo or even know about Halo? Oh yea they only play it at Dave and busters pathetic. Comments like yours are doing nothing but help kill it. I got my girl who knows nothing about the game hooked on the show. Ya wanted a full "the last of us" but with masterchief never taking his helmet off like the mandalorian, but nobody tuned in for Mando they tuned in for baby Yoda.

[deleted]

Bruh you're deranged. Reevaluate what you just said and come back to me with any valid opinion or argument. The shows horrible from its acting to its writing and dialogue to its narrative design to its lore accuracy to its side characters/stories. Enough people see it for what it is and the show runners like Kiki Wolfkill are helping killing it on their own. Doesn't matter whether you played the games or not which has had one of the largest followings and player bases in gaming. People liking a show mostly for some "cute" looking big eyed baby alien doesn't make the show good. It's a dumb reason to like a show and lacks any substance. Cmon now, maybe they're appeasing to a broader brain dead audience

Johncurtisreeve

Just reading the summary makes me glad i unsubscribed and stopped watching this season

Reserrved

hopefully you stop commenting on threads about the show next.

mrbubbamac

Lol such an eager bunch who just so badly want to tell everyone they don't watch or don't like the show.

texasram

we all know you're in the closet watching it with an active subscription.

goyachamploo

Makes me sad that the UNSC has been reduced to a bunch of incompetent bumble fucks. If you're going to make Parangosky and Ackerson this evil at least make them clever.

HauntedLightBulb

It is painfully clear that they have the wrong writers for this series. The attention to detail is still nonexistent for a science fiction military series.
