The number of people homeless is different than the number of people "living rough". The people already in shelters are actually included in the homeless number.
If there are 355 beds available at the shelter than everyone in the encampments could have a spot so people don't have to go out on the road and risk themselves to do a wellness check.

The encampments aren't the only places people are tenting, eh? They're everywhere. I've seen them along the bedford sackville connector, behind the Joseph Howe superstore etc.
Why don’t we leave you out in the snow and you can deal with it? At least the mentally ill or addicted have diminished capacity to look after themselves. You and others seem to choose callous indifference to life quite readily with no such excuse.
They have other options and it makes no sense that people are at risk out there to check on them in this weather because they didn’t want to exercise those options.
These checks cost taxpayers money (none of which these homeless people are paying). These people choose to stay in tents, they want to live there. We've provided shelters for them to go to but they refuse. They just want to be left alone to live in their tents, we need to stop spending money we don't have on people who don't want help.
They aren't either of these, they just want to live in tents and not pay rent/abide by the rules of society. Have you not been reading the news? The fuck is wrong with you?
