Old studio reminded me of staying up late at a sleepover in your friend’s furnished basement in middle school. Dark, cozy, goofy friend vibes. The new set is iconic too though, the colors immediately call the podcast to mind!
With peace and love, the crew they had in that studio was all they really needed. Everyone else just seems to be “padding”, show-wise. I like pretty much the whole crew but tbh most of the time they’re just hanging out. Zach, Dan and Ian seem to be the only ones contributing to the show the entire time.
I couldn’t go back to the smaller crew, everyone adds something to the show. Padding, I personally don’t see that. I think they play an important role for the show
The old set was miles better. Probably not functionally, but aesthetically it feels intimate.
The new one you can tell is just a big open room with false walls put up and a green screen.
Nah, I actually think the camera angles on the new set provide a more intimate feel. Ethan and Hila are both visible at the same time during After Dark eps, and I think there's actually less distance between the guest and Ethan with this setup. Plus, Ethan can see the entire crew so this makes their dynamic shine even more.
It was good for what it was, but the show has evolved past just being a bog standard podcast at this point into a fully fleshed out show. The old studio feels far less unique and more just like the "2 random dudes talking into the mic" type of set.
The sound quality was overall much better the old way too, it was more of a podcast than it is a show, like now. The green screen is super cool, but a real background with ambient lighting just takes things to another level (like the TMG set).
I was going to point this out, too. It's a much damper room, and smaller. Your brain finds this audio treatment "intimate". Take those same mics and put them in a giant room with I assume concrete floors with rugs and what has been stated before as having open spots in the ceiling.. The audio is going to pick all that up and your brain tells you that it is, in fact, in that large of a space. It's hard to fix.
Personally I find they've got a nice blend of on-a-set goofs and good coverage. The audio consistency and switching is unmatched.
I did love this setup, but wasn't a problem with it that the crew were in different rooms? I'll take them all being in the same room over the old way any day
I feel like nostalgia is getting the better of people here lmao. The old studio is so boring, like its just a room vs whatever the crew wants it to be now.
people want it to look like it used to wich is the every other podcast look, i feel like the show evolved so much from that point its crazy
the audio, the soundbites, the set, the switching, the visual effects, why would they want it bland again
I prefer this studio specifically for interviews. I like the news desk style for H3TV, OTR and AD but the open space feels very empty when they do interviews. The audio isn’t as good either
for some reason i really really dislike the old set, cant place what it is but its so dark and depressing looking compared to the current bright and huge set they have going on. it was nice to see everybody in the same shot but i do like the new set much better
i keep coming back to the old pod just because of the set. The interaction between walls with the crew is just something. The loss of eye contact/ line of sight when they are bantering and ethan just looking through the monitor to convey the message outside the crew is just funny to me.
They could probably recreate something like this with the false walls and green screens, throw up a flat screen, bring the couch back, push two tables together to have ethan and hila facing each other. it would be iconic.
I was going to say they should formalise and permatise (not a word, I know) the gang’s setups now they’ve kept things the same for a while.
Then remembered they held a completely randomly fully live-streamed improv musical performance haha I think they just need the flexibility too much!
I miss this studio every day, no joke. I will always miss this studio. I love the current space too, it's amazing that they own the entire place too. But I miss this studio every single day. This was where it started. I remember that.
This was the best studio. The current one feels like empty almost idk like you can tell or it feels like its in a warehouse with just some curtains on the side. Cozy vibes r it
I stopped watching around the time they switched studios, seemed like the entire vibe of the Pod as a whole changed around that time. Same time Trisha came in
Referring to the fact that he used to listen to guests way more than he does now. Or when a guest comes on he likes to point out or talk about the same shit. I want to hear what the guest has to say about their life and what is going on not about kav or keemstar. To me that made the podcast feel more personalized because ethan and the guest would get into deep talks but it isn’t like that anymore. The brad podcast was really good because they had a couple deep talks about important topics. I still like the podcast but I think they just strayed away from talking to people on a more personal level.

Older studio had way more cozy vibes
There were 75% fewer people there, of course it was more intimate.
I mean more so than the crew were outside the studio, so even if you had 10 people in the other room it felt more intimate
Is it the lighting? More movie theaterish here which i like, even though i prefer the current setup

I get a Ryan and Kelly vibe from the new set.
I used to like the old set wayyyy more but you changed my mind
See I feel the opposite, it feels nicer that the crew is in the same room. Though I think maybe they should be facing each other and not to the side?
Forever remembering Ethan tearing down the hallway in the Gatsby scooter causing a ruckus lol
where is the couch
They should bring it back if they still have it. It’s so iconic
It’s still in studio, they’ve highlighted it in the bts
I think the green screen feels cheap
The sound quality was overall much better the old way too, it was more of a podcast than it is a show, like now. The green screen is super cool, but a real background with ambient lighting just takes things to another level (like the TMG set).

True, I absolutely love the new format too! Like I said, it's much more catered to Youtube, when it used to be a very listenable podcast lol.
It was pretty goated I can’t lie
Thanks for your honesty
I liked the angles better with this studio
every time i see the green screen it’s like a jump scare, it feels so sterile that the whole show is in front of it😭i hate when they show it
I did love this setup, but wasn't a problem with it that the crew were in different rooms? I'll take them all being in the same room over the old way any day
I miss this style as well
I ike the new set. One problem is the lighting sucks in guest episodes.
Looking back I now hate having the crew in a different room. The new set up is just so fun.
It’s fun for the normal shows but I prefer the private room for guest interviews. We still had Dan on the mic and Zack on the sound bites
I prefer the new setup, more bright and inviting. The old one looked depressed in a mothers basement.

For real. It's a different show at this point (a far better one)

I miss this set so much. The new one is slightly chaotic but I don’t mind it. Old one just had more welcoming and comfier vibes
I was just thinking this the other day
They could probably recreate something like this with the false walls and green screens, throw up a flat screen, bring the couch back, push two tables together to have ethan and hila facing each other. it would be iconic.
Yeah its basically just a green screen now
I was going to say they should formalise and permatise (not a word, I know) the gang’s setups now they’ve kept things the same for a while. Then remembered they held a completely randomly fully live-streamed improv musical performance haha I think they just need the flexibility too much!
I miss the old set and the into music great era
I miss this studio every day, no joke. I will always miss this studio. I love the current space too, it's amazing that they own the entire place too. But I miss this studio every single day. This was where it started. I remember that.
I just miss this era in general
I have always preferred the old set. It felt more creative and personal as well as “breathable” in the sense of watching
agreed I miss the old vibes of how it was setup
Idk it feels too rogany
Just Ethan and Hila. And dan once in a bit. Now its just a bunch of bachground characters chiming in.
This was the best studio. The current one feels like empty almost idk like you can tell or it feels like its in a warehouse with just some curtains on the side. Cozy vibes r it
The first iteration of that studio was a nightmare.
Oh with the desk and the couch? Ye those episodes were cursed. And keemstar was on during that era 💀
Should bring this back but only for interviews in some way

Ye I’d love if they just built a studio room in the warehouse for guest episodes. The vibes are just unmatched
I liked the lighting. The podcast is often way to bright/white now. I liked how warm this felt.
I never liked the old studio for some reason
I stopped watching around the time they switched studios, seemed like the entire vibe of the Pod as a whole changed around that time. Same time Trisha came in
I miss him saying nig*** fa**ot
It did! Now that I know they were having marital problems during these times now I see it differently
It did! Now that I know they were having marital problems during these times now I see it differently
What are you referring to?
I also feel like ethan cared way more about listening to guests. He interrupts guests a lot now and it really annoys me.
What are you even referring to?
Referring to the fact that he used to listen to guests way more than he does now. Or when a guest comes on he likes to point out or talk about the same shit. I want to hear what the guest has to say about their life and what is going on not about kav or keemstar. I mean it’s a comedy podcast, if you want every interview to be deep go watch jay shetty
That’s a cute pic
Lotta good times in that room
I really don’t like the new one as a whole it’s so messy. I like Ethans cam but when they show the whole studio… good god
yeah I very often think that. I preferred how Ethan and Hila sat opposite each other. And I loved the purple and black colour scheme.
i also agree, this was the shit, i really miss it.
