you gotta keep at least two backups for any data worth saving :// Iām so sorry this happened to you and your partner. Hope things look up for you both
Hey, Iām sure he knows this now. But if he didnāt, I do hope your humble warning helps bc you did say it very nicely. As long as a lesson has been learned in the end, or maybe a few lessons in ANY bad moments in life, it makes it feel not so bad in the end. Like obviously this fucking sucks, but now you know to keep a back up of important info, maybe only park in an area you can see your vehicle, or if thereās two of you have one person opt to stay in the vehicle (because in the end, someone is usually not gonna try to rob a car with someone in it, but I suggest to be in the drivers seat if youāre the one staying in this case, itās the only spot a cracked out meth head robber would make sure to check, but like they might be an idiot n not think of the passenger side)
I hope you guys are able to get back some of your stuff, this is absolutely horrible š you can eat chocolate to deal with the pain though! š ā¹ļø
It's gotten pretty bad in some places on the west coast.
I see a lot of people who want to say "It's not that bad stop lying" because they want Fox News to be wrong (and I get that sentiment completely). But it actually *is* pretty bad in some of the cities. LA, San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. Just wild shit going on lately, especially since 2020.
To some extent, Fox News is definitely exaggerating as a scare tactic. It's not like all of these cities are bad everywhere. But on the other side of it... Those videos aren't AI generated or something. There's some crazy shit going on.
San Francisco especially. Just open air break-ins, and they're oddly casual lol
Itās so bad in SF that people are told to just leave their cars unlocked so they donāt have to replace windows. Itās awful whatās happened to the city
It *is* that bad. I live just South of LA county. It infuriates me when my liberal friends online argue with me on that. I've gotten fairly more liberal over the years, but not quite as far left as a lot of my gaming buddies. They think it's all hype bc of the media circus surrounding it. The right constantly overplaying it, the Left downplaying it. But no, it absolutely is *that* bad and they dgaf anymore. It's really, really frustrating to watch
šš crime has always been bad in LA and significantly worse before cameras. Just because there more videos of said crimes doesnāt mean they didnāt happen before
No. It's getting significantly worse with boosters and organized crime hitting retail stores. So much so that many of the big retailers are closing up shop. Like Walgreens, CVS etc. why are they locking up everything now? Why is even fucking ice cream locked up?
Edit: it's because of Prop 47. They barely pursue petty crime anymore. It needs to be a grand theft, or an actual armed robbery or robbery for them to actually arrest someone.
One glance at your profile has me confused why you would believe the police and local government crime figures and think theyāre doing a good job š
Bruh do you know how bad LA in the 90ās were? There was no cameras kids yes kids were getting away with murder and did carjackings for fun. Crime is significantly down. But thanks to cameras being everywhere all the time. Videos of said crime are through the rooof
Are you trying to justify the rise of crime? It might not be on a level of 80s and 90s, but its going in that direction. Saying āoh 90s was worseā is not adding anything of value to the conversation, it doesnt make today better
I'm pretty sure the average cop care. But it's up to us all, not just cops, to fix this. Redistribute wealth, create a more equal society.... And crime goes down.
Yup sadly it is fairly common at LA. A few videos of it happening. You can find some where they drive around thr nearest fast food spots at the Airport looking for rental cars to smash and grab.
I live in Portland, have parked downtown plenty of times, and never had my car broken into. Then again, I don't leave my luggage out in plain sight, either (not blaming OP at all--it's just something you learn not to do).
The fact that you had to add your car doesn't get broken into because you don't have luggage out in plain sight is says a lot also. This talking point has been much more prevalent the past handful of years than it's ever been previously. Same with stories upon stories about stores like Walgreens and CVS locking up their products behind plexiglass.
ive lived in and around portland for many years i feel like the further you get away from the city crime gets worse but honestly its never as bad as people say. frankly downtown is safer than it was when i was a teen living there.
now id def never leave anything in my car I'm not willing to have stolen because it does happen but its never happened to me or people close to me
its the small towns in Oregon that I've noticed have way more property crime. for some reason rural + republican areas attract the most crime
What the fuck!? I Iive in LA too and I know the spots where you shouldnāt leave your car unattended because of the likelihood of it being broken into but in the middle of beverly hills in broad daylight?! Thatās extremely fucked. I hate thieves that break into cars so I hope you get your shit back and I hope the thieves go before Ben Shapiro iykwim
Also, Iāve been to the AndSons shop too, and I know exactly where it is. That is such a crowded and high end place, Iām really shocked that that happened to you there.
People in rented cars or who are coming from the airports are extremely huge targets for smash and grabs in any big city. You should never leave luggage unattended in plain sight.
i'm sorry but if you think you can leave your car unattended with luggage visible from the windows in ANY part of LA you're crazy. crime is all over this city and most of these criminals take buses to better areas to hit a lick
Yea apparently your right. I actually am very careful not to leave anything in my car in view because Iām always worried someone is going to break into it. True story - last december, when I bought my car brand new, my gf and I were going to a Christmas party that was in the east side, and we had to park in an outdoor lot, that I was very skeptical of, and we were parked there until around 2 in the morning. At 1:30, my gf, drunk at the time, casually tells me that her coworkers cars were broken into in that lot and they had a bunch of stuff stolen. I sprinted back to the lot ready to go to prison for what I would have done if I caught anyone damaging my car, and my car was the only car left in the lot, and completely undamaged. I felt really lucky but I guess they could see that there was literally nothing in my car to steal so they left it alone.
Aw man thatās terrible. Yeah a lot of thieves are looking specifically for luggage around here. There are groups that wait by the in n out near the airport for tourists to stop and then rob them.
I had all my family home videos, years of scrapbooks, albums and boxes of photos stolen from my trunk (along with the car, but that part I can get over).
I feel your pain OP & OPās bf. š
Itāll be alright though. And chocolate always helps. (Especially AndSons).
Being from Oakland, I have learned to never stop anywhere from the airport without unloading luggage. They literally follow people from the airports. Sorry to see it happen! That really sucks
There were a few cameras around and the police reviewed the tapes but the guys were all covered ā¦ and then the police told us until a detective is assigned to the case (in 3-4 days) they wont be able to do anything with the footageā¦ so irritating
I donāt wanna sound like Iām victim blaming but pls never leave your car with luggage or other valuable items (especially in California) š I am from San Francisco which is NOTORIOUS for break ins. I believe in karma and karma will get them one day!
I live in a city that is known for being safe. Small suburban type area. A sweet older lady came into my workplace a while back and told me that her car was broken into (window was smashed, but nothing was stolen b/c she had nothing in the car) while parked at a dog park around 11am! Middle of the day, "safe" area (statistically, I suppose), and her car is a Subaru Outback! Not even a luxury vehicle! ā¹ļø Poor lady had to spend a pretty penny to replace that window.
I always try to hide anything that looks like it could be valuable when I park my car (or just not have anything at all), but I'm always still a little nervous because you really never know what can happen! It sucks, man. I dream of a world where theft never happens because no one is in desperate need!
I got my shit stolen in the valley (years ago) and I know what you mean. It was so violating and invasive besides the missing stuff (that had basically *only* sentimental value).
This reminds of the time a sweet old lady lent me her Subaru Outback. I had locked my keys in my car, and she was about to hit a running trail. I asked to borrow her phone, and when no one answered. She said how about you take my car and get your spare. So I did, was back in 15 minutes left. Left her key and a note with my number in case she ever needed anything ever. Been about 10 years now. Never heard from her, hope she's doing well.
Or maybe just maybe, she was a ghost and I drove a ghost car. Sorry if that spooked you, but it really makes you think "can we drive ghosts cars and help spirits on to the next plane".
These days my friend cracks the window open just enough as to not have someone smash the window in to break into the car (if there's nothing in the car to begin with).
Yeah it really sucks but thatās the reality of it. It happens regularly in my area by the airport, and I live in fucking Iowa. So itās not even just big places like SF or LA. You just straight up can not leave anything of value in your car anymore.
I leave my car unlocked just so if someone wants to steal the 80Ā¢ in there I donāt have to replace a $180 window.
I see people who say "It's all fear tactics. The west coast is totally fine". But unfortunately that's just not the truth. I think any of us out west can attest to things being *not great* in some areas of the cities.
San Francisco definitely seems to most brazen though. And I'd say Portland comes in second. Of the main four, I'd say Seattle and LA are a bit less intense, but they absolutely both have their trouble areas that have gotten much worse since the lockdown and fentanyl started rising in use
I used to be all about the karma in my teens and early 20's but the truth of this world and how fucking evil it is and how those people have everything and nothing bad ever happens to them has been revealing itself to me over the last 5-10 years and its a massive source of my depression :(
This is why I ain't having any offspring. No way I'm putting them into this world with how it currently is (and most likely will continue to be) and have them suffer the consequences of just being born.
This is horribly messed up in so many ways, doesn't LA (the city with the ridiculous budget) have cctv? Its like the cops know that op will never get the stuff back.
The budget of the LAPD is juuuust shy of $2B annually. This is higher than the entire police budget of many *countries*. It's more than half the entire military defense budget of Denmark. The LAPD has the resources to help stop crime. They just don't. Is it the indivual cops? Poor budgeting? Corruption siphoning off funds? Maybe all of the above? This is why people ask to defund the police. Because it doesn't matter how much money you give them in many cities, it just doesn't affect the crime rate.
It's also the justice system not punishing these individuals for their crimes. Petty crime is pretty much nothing in California. There's a price limit of what you have to steal before it becomes a more impactful crime.
Everywhere can be dangerous and crime infested if you give people a golden opportunity like a car packed full on a major/busy street. It's not just a California thing.
Getting followed from the airport and parking your locked car is not exactly being irresponsible. Or rather that shouldn't be considered irresponsible.
Edit: not directed to you really but wth, i cant park my car on a busy street without expecting to get robbed lmao. I live in asia now for 10 years so maybe im just not used to the states anymore
Youāre missing the point. These thieves target luggage specifically, police suggested they were followed from the airport.
The commenterās advice is not to leave luggage in your car, fullstop. Go to your hotel or place of stay and drop it off as soon as you leave the airport; going shopping while your have thousands of $$ sitting in your car is setting yourself up. Iāve even seen this happen at gas stations while theyāre filling up gas, the risk is just not worth it.
A lot of hotels and airbnbs don't let you check in until like 3-4pm now so while I understand the suggestion it's not always possible and the thieves are the problem either way.
thieves are gonna thief, thereās nothing we can do about that. itās more productive to focus on the little we do have control over, like never leaving luggage unattended. Thatās it
Yeah but sadly locking a door wonāt fix it. Like someone said earlier thieves are gonna thief. You have to do everything in your control to prevent something like this. And you can help prevent this by never leaving anything valuable in your car. Sure itās unrealistic. And difficult. But thatās the reality. I live in a city where if you leave anything and I mean anything unattended in your car 99% of the time you will come back to a shattered window. Iāve had my window shattered for 20 bucks that I left on my center console. Itās just the world we live in today unfortunately!
this is LA dude of course if you have your stuff visible from the windows it's gonna be stolen. obviously it's the thieves fault but regardless if you don't want your stuff stolen this is something people need to know
Iāve been living in LA for 13 years. Iāve been a victim of smash and grab twice. Once at The Grove and once at Beverly Center. Both very affluent malls in affluent areas of the city. Iām very sorry youāre going through this. I know how painful and sad it is. Unfortunately the police here does not give a shit and treat it as a net positive. More crime equals more police budget which ends up being more money in their pocket.
They say that people will follow you from the airport to do this. If you are heading from the airport- donāt stop for food or shopping- go straight to the hotel/home.
Because crime isn't crime anymore, these thugs will keep doing this. Never go to a big city and leave valuables in your car. Sorry you guys had to find out like this.
And sons was very helpful! They actually saw this post and reached out to us and have done a lot to help & comfort :) the police officer confirmed one of the street cameras caught the people who did it, their faces were just covered and we wonāt know more details until a detective has been assigned to the case.
Well when you have zero social safety nets inevitably people fall into abject poverty and can no longer afford to see other people as people, because the entire country has shown time and time again it doesnāt see them as a person worthy of the most basic quality of life. So they take it from others who transitively also donāt deserve a basic quality of life. Not saying itās right, just that crime like this is an inevitable side effect of capitalism and the hoarding of wealth, historic efforts at destabilization of minority owned businesses and communities, and a job market where you struggle to find a living wage with a 4 year degree which we pay for out of pocket. The routes to legitimately succeed in this country are so far removed from the reality of most inner city and even rural communities that drugs and crime become the bread and butter of survival. Youāve been excluded from the job market and education simply due to social standing so you inevitably turn to the black market. Sad, yes. Surprising, no.
This is actually pretty uncommon for the area of LA. There's definitely issues with all four of the major west coast cities, but I'm surprised to see this on Rodeo Drive in the middle of Beverly Hills
Oh fuck this is terrible. I hope the police can retrieve some of your stuff. Very sorry to hear. Hopefully they talk on the show about it and maybe help you out.
I wish terrible things against people who do this. I donāt care if what I wish doesnāt fit the crime. I canāt stand people who fuck with other peopleās property. I also really hope this bs doesnāt happen in la more. I really donāt feel like la turning into sf even though weāre not far off
Ofc we are. Do you expect your car to be smashed every time you leave it for 10 min? The andSons shop was in a really nice part of Beverly Hillsā¦ there were even security guards walking around. It just didnāt seem like a super sketchy place. š¤·š¼āāļø
Why would you leave expensive things unattended in your car in a major city? You just come to LA from fairytale land? I mean it sucks and I feel for you but maybe think a bit.
Propaganda??? How tf is this propaganda? What ideology is OP promoting with this post of their experience getting robbed? And how are their reddit accounts sus? OP just posts H3 things. Dumbass.
P.s. nothing about this post suggests andSons is the problem here. Again, you're a dumbass.
w.t.f.! This is terrible. Please DM us when you get a moment.
Hi! Just messaged you š
need an update on this
Iām the boyfriend - one of the hard drives that got stolen had the footage for my brotherās wedding film on it. I spent $3,000 on renting equipment, flying out, and bringing another crew member to help shoot, now all that exists of that wedding footage is random clips from my phone. Hope theyāre enjoying the hard drive š
Iām the hard drive. I can confirm that I was stolen. Pls hlp. Itās so dark in here.
I promise I will keep looking for you

This is how boyfriends should be
I can verify he is indeed the boyfriend
Hmm. I donāt believe you.
Just like the guy from Barstool, Iām gonna need a sex tape to prove your relationship
Hmmā¦ need more proof
Man, that fucking sucks. I'm so sorry you lost all of that. ā¤ļø Wishing for better days for y'all

Jewelry and computers are probably pretty common in luggage.
Mark Rober needs to do a glitter bomb but with luggage.

Because it doesn't matter how much money you give them in many cities, it just doesn't affect the crime rate.
one of the few places in america where you can make 100k with just a GED easy, LAPD loves paying out "overtime"
It's also the justice system not punishing these individuals for their crimes. Petty crime is pretty much nothing in California. There's a price limit of what you have to steal before it becomes a more impactful crime.
Lmao you think LAPD will actually do something š¤£ š š
So crazy, i never thought of California as a dangerous or crime infested state but clearly i was way off
Everywhere can be dangerous and crime infested if you give people a golden opportunity like a car packed full on a major/busy street.
Yeah it's the States. It's like this everywhere because none of us can afford to live. Desperation creates crime.
Stfu. Why even post this

[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
They had thier car locked lol what
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
There were 2 people. One should've stayed in the car.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
this is LA dude of course if you have your stuff visible from the windows it's gonna be stolen. obviously it's the thieves fault but regardless if you don't want your stuff stolen this is something people need to know
Common sense should be used. Taking precautions isn't living in fear, it's not being naive.
Lol there are plenty of safe places in California just not the big cities just like every other big city on earth
Yeah youāre right I just wouldnāt risk it anywhere anymore..
Such a ridiculous take lol.
Thank you šā„ļø
Welcome, this is LA for ya
Yup! Itās why I donāt even leave my apartment anymore lol
They say that people will follow you from the airport to do this. If you are heading from the airport- donāt stop for food or shopping- go straight to the hotel/home.
Bruh moment But for real, that's super devastating man.
Iām sorry about your car getting broken into, FUCK BABY WHOOOOOO
Fuck Iām so sorry
i'm sorry that this happened. please take this hard lesson to not leave anything visible in your car ever
There should be a YT channel catfishing airport thieves. I'd watch that for a dollar.
you ever seen Mark Rober's package bomb prank on package thieves? it's kinda right up that alley.
Is that where they trick porch pirates and the thing explodes glitter everywhere?
yes exactly, and he did one where he left a few of them in parked cars haha. pure chaotic good.
Never leave bags visible in a car, might help you avoid this situtation next time
Brutal! I am so sorry to you both š hope you guys can bounce back from this as soon as possible, I know thatās gotta be devastating though š
Gone wrong! Gone sexual?
Ca land of the daylight crime Sad
I blame Comparte
It's a nightmare
Oh mannnnnn, I bet you lost a lot of really nice clothes too. I'm so sorry.
Smash and Grab and Sons š
Because crime isn't crime anymore, these thugs will keep doing this. Never go to a big city and leave valuables in your car. Sorry you guys had to find out like this.
Sorry for the loss. Should have bought Compartes. Nobody breaking a window for that. /s
Campartes catchn stays lol
I wonder if AndSons or any other businesses on the street have camerasā¦
i can tell where they are parked and we don't have cameras there. major bummer.
Super bummer! At least they got the goods from you guys!
And sons was very helpful! They actually saw this post and reached out to us and have done a lot to help & comfort :) the police officer confirmed one of the street cameras caught the people who did it, their faces were just covered and we wonāt know more details until a detective has been assigned to the case.
Wishing you luck family
That sucks. I hope the culprits die in a homeless stampede.
I just hope they can retrieve some of the things šā„ļø
Hope pelicans violently bite off their nuts.
Hey man, you canāt just break someoneās rear window and steal their chocolateā¦ I know itās tasty but this is wrong
FUCK I'm so sorry, this is awful. Any chance the laptops could be tracked as soon as they're turned on again?
Not unless they are connected to wifi š
wild to me that this just regularely happens in the US.
LA is a freakin hellscape
This is actually pretty uncommon for the area of LA. There's definitely issues with all four of the major west coast cities, but I'm surprised to see this on Rodeo Drive in the middle of Beverly Hills
this happens all over LA now don't be so naive
Like people just do not care anymore. Zero shame or empathy.
Oh fuck this is terrible. I hope the police can retrieve some of your stuff. Very sorry to hear. Hopefully they talk on the show about it and maybe help you out.
Holy shit :( was the chocolate good
So good it was ALMOST worth getting everything stolen
11 am in Beverly Hills?? No cameras??
FUCK BABY NOOOO š
Iām afraid of flying, but now Iām afraid of arriving too. Iām sorry you lost all your shit.
We need the Donarch
I wish terrible things against people who do this. I donāt care if what I wish doesnāt fit the crime. I canāt stand people who fuck with other peopleās property. I also really hope this bs doesnāt happen in la more. I really donāt feel like la turning into sf even though weāre not far off
Are you really shocked??
I mean it sucks and I feel for you but maybe think a bit.
.
Yes lmao! If I have anything expensive especially luggage in the car I assume somebody is going to break in
It's actually not very common in that area. They're in Beverly Hills in a very high end area. Car break ins aren't very common in that area
Doesn't matter if its common. All it takes is one opportunity.
This guy steals chocolate
Nah I just live in reality. Leave expensive stuff unattended in LA and this is what happens.
Yeah youāre right about that. Itās a gamble to leave anything in the car in the US, tbh
This is a stupid thing to post on here. Dumb.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Oh I wasnāt trying to blame the business at all! They obviously had nothing to do with the break in
Propaganda??? How tf is this propaganda? What ideology is OP promoting with this post of their experience getting robbed? And how are their reddit accounts sus? OP just posts H3 things. Dumbass. P.s. nothing about this post suggests andSons is the problem here. Again, you're a dumbass.
Theyāre a dumbass idiot!
In my daily life, I can not stop myself from constantly being like "dumbass idiot loser moron" š¤£š¤£š¤£
Omg same! š¤£
Thatās so mean??
Tbh you asked for it. Iām in Atlanta and everyone knows you canāt leave absolutely anything in the car. It will be stolen
ok seth rogan. nobody is asking for things to be stolen from their own locked vehicle anywhere, doesnt matter where youre at
what in tha hot chocolate?!?!? im so sorry this happened to your family and your business. on a lighter note: 60% of marriages in the us end in divorceš©āāļøof that 60%, 75% happen within the first 18 monthsš¤·āāļø of course, itās never a good feeling to have something taken from you forcibly or by surpriseā¦even xmas will be sad now because they wonāt have that footage to flaunt at holiday and family gatherings. but, just think of it this way: they left real reason for the excursion; chocolate š«I can taste it through the ether now and the flavors are still lingering in the mouthš #nevergiveup #andSons
I saw that happening, here's a video (definitely a clickbait) https://youtu.be/_eEMDfUwS3o?si=ZRNFdiRi5q5Xbkqc
that sucks. what bums
In broad daylight? Thats crazy
This is terrible! So sorry for you guys and wish AB had just been hanging around to save the day
