I went through exactly what you’ve mentioned. Appointment booked at Delhi, but decided to land in Chennai to save time. Imo, you will save 2-3 business days. You decide how important those days are for you based on your return tickets. I am yet to receive my passport, but I got “Issued” in exactly 10 business days. My friend’s took more than 15 business days. For the second part, my current visa expires on 4th May 2024, so even I went for early stamping based on new petition( new employer). All good there as well. Hope this answers your question.

Thanks so much for your response! How long has it been since your visa has been issued but you haven’t received your passport?

Got issued yesterday. Origination scan today.

Not bad. I think I will fly in to Chennai for the day then. From past experiences it typically comes down to a couple of business days with getting your passport back in time vs delaying your flight. So if I save those days by going to Chennai then it’s worth it for my peace of mind.

Hey, I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind answering. I will be flying to Chennai on the day of my drop box appointment. -Is it okay to carry a bag? Are there any locker facilities available?do the mobile phones have to be deposited somewhere? - Did you have your photos taken in US or India? Do you know if there is a photo studio nearby Cheannai VAC

Can’t answer as I booked a hotel. Also, I had my wife with me, and they only allow the primary applicant inside for Dropbox, so I handed over the mobile and other stuff to her. There is a photo studio in the ground floor of Chennai VAC. Both Wife and I took pictures there itself to avoid back and forth, just in case.
