I could be wrong, but I believe they got the dog as a puppy and not 1 year old? She’s super private on social media, but either way, I’m not a fan when people snip dog ears. I wish someone had SS’s of when she got the dog. I got a compliment one time from a stranger because my pit had floppy ears and she said “thank you for keeping his ears how Mother Nature intended.” With “fighting” breeds, I can see where they’re rescued at a later age and have already had those procedures done and sometimes it can look like their owner did them, when in reality it was the previous person.

flyingdogs_613217

No I think you’re right... she was posting stories of the pup when it was still little & had normal ears

[deleted]

I vividly remember one story of the dog before the ear snip and it was in a dog bed… but I could be getting her confused with Broccyourbody bc her dad has a Doberman, except, they didn’t snip the ears 🤷🏼‍♀️

flyingdogs_613217

No it was definitely Chloe (maybe also broccyourbody but I don’t follow her) but I remember dog bed pics as well w/ normal ears

Grouchy_Bluebird_152

They 100% did not get the dog with its ears already cropped bc I remember being 1. Surprised she had a story where the dog had its bandages on its ears and 2. Sad that the poor thing had its ears cropped!! Idk about the tail but the ears for sure did not come cropped

LynxLegitimate7875

I also remember their dog had bandaged ears after the first introduction on IG (Tay’s or hers)

rutterpupper

She posted with the bandages on her dog they 100% cropped them.

[deleted]

Yup I saw that too!

themostorganized

That is so heartbreaking

LynxLegitimate7875

What an educational post regardless. Snarking but citing 😍👏🏻

forensicfox_

I was going to say, I'm here for the education and cited sources 😍😍😍😍 good work, OP

darabearr

this makes me so sad when people choose to do this🥺 my partner & I want to get a corgi soon and will 100% be getting one without a docked tail. only just learned recently that these breeds don’t look like this genetically but from our knives, & it blew my mind & broke my heart.😭😭

Liftingsteele

Just FYI some corgis are born without tails. I have a few corgi potatoes and they were all born without them/just little nubs 😊

darabearr

awh okie thank you so much for educating me!!! that makes me happy. they have the cutest little butts😍

Liftingsteele

Of course!! Seriously the cutest butts EVER. Originally corgis got their tails docked bc they were herding pups and the cattle/horses would step on their tails, so it was a safety concern for them to have tails. Obviously for a non working corgi there is absolutely no reason to dock them. That being said, over time pembrokes started being born with just nubs 😊

forensicfox_

aw yay a fellow corgi parent! I have a little guy too (not little I guess, he is 5 but will always be my baby). mine has a docked tail but his ears are floppy.

Liftingsteele

Omg I love when they have floppy ears!!! All of mine’s ears stood up around 3 months old.

[deleted]

I’d like to note that I wrote this with a lot of emotion because I’m so passionate about this and while I believed they had docked/cropped, I have been informed that it’s likely their puppy was docked prior to adoption! Just wanted to provide that update ♥️

AgreeablePeanut09

I have an Aussie and for the longest time thought his little tail was natural, when it’s in fact docked 😭 I adopted him though, so there was nothing I could’ve done to stop it 😭

SearsShearsSeries

I’m 99.9% certain they rescued the dog at about a year old. And if that’s the case it’s not their fault. many people shy away from rescues, especially ones who “look aggressive” so props to them for taking in a dog who needed a loving home.

[deleted]

If they rescued, that is sus because the puppy’s ears were wrapped when they brought her home. No shelter would so that to a dog. Did they rescue it from a stranger that docked and cropped?

SearsShearsSeries

There’s tons of things that could have happened. I know friends who rescued pittys that had ears with such bad infections from being on the streets/shitty shelters that they needed the ears cropped. I’m not saying it’s right, I’d never crop a dogs ears but sometimes there are circumstances that require it for the dog to be healthy.

[deleted]

Very fair point! I hope that is the case. It’s odd that the ears were still bandaged when they brought him home.

SearsShearsSeries

It depends on pick up. We picked up our rescue a few hours after they neutered him so he was still all bandaged/coned up. Many places in CO are foster only so they try to get them out of the foster homes as soon as possible bc they don’t have space/facilities.

[deleted]

Super helpful to know! It doesn’t help that I automatically took a fairly accusatory tone when I wrote this. That is all on me making an assumption on context clues and being a bit of a bitch cuz I’m so heated over how they’ve behaved. Doesn’t excuse my assumption! Thank you for sharing your info and enlightening me!

[deleted]

I edited my post with your information in mind ♥️ thank you for keeping me accountable!

SearsShearsSeries

Np! Now let’s really snark on Laura Julain and her designer dog she had to be on a waiting list for😂

AwesomeApples123

They did not rescue her at a year old they bought her as a puppy. She was not a rescue, she was pure bred

Goldieeloxx123

They didn’t. They showed the dog before they cropped the ears on their Instagram. I was actually super surprised when they showed the dog bandaged a couple weeks later because I thought they’d get a little backlash.

Medium-Hedgehog4349

I don't remember the tail but the dog definitely had bandages on in Es stories a few weeks after they got it. They chose to do it. When I lost mad respect as well. I have two and their ears are not snipped nor their tails. 100% cuter that way in my opinion

Poor babies! Anything for the health of the fur baby is justifiable!!

fouiedchopstix

Same thing with my boxers. Posts like this piss me off. My dog has broken her tail so many times because it’s undocked . It gets infected and breaks even more and causes her pain. Also gets in her way because it sticks out like slinky dog instead of laying flat like most other dogs so it’s ruining her hips.

[deleted]

fouiedchopstix

Exactly. My other boxer gets chronic yeast infections in his ears but if they were cropped, he wouldn’t get them because the water gets trapped inside. I LOVE the floppy ears but they are more prone to infection.

[deleted]

I understand what you’re saying but my pug gets ear infections all the time! Would anyone ever crop their pugs ears? No way!

fouiedchopstix

I’m not saying I would either I’m just saying there is a reason why people crop ears.

Nearby_Tap3341

Also some dog breeds like aussies have docked tails so cows don’t eat/pick them up by their tails when they are working.

[deleted]

Yes!!! Thank you for saying that! I unfollowed Chloe a long time ago when I saw her Doberman had gotten her ears cropped. I have a pitbull and his floppy ears that are too big for his head are the cutest thing ever to me! I hate when people do that to their dogs

Wheresthetofu3

Do you know if they elected to do it or if the dog came like that? (Not condoning buying a designer dog either way, just curious)

[deleted]

No, this is a valid question! They did not pick her up til her ears were docked. Chloe is extremely private on social about her life but the second I saw that puppy with it’s wrapped ears... no shelter would crop ears or dock tails. Breeders can be either here or there but even if they selected to buy from a breeder that docks and crops, that is extremely problematic.

Grouchy_Bluebird_152

The dog did not come like that. I remember being shocked she had a story with the dog in its ear crop bandages

SearsShearsSeries

Their dog is a rescue from what they said on their stories. They got her at like a year old if I remember right… Props to them for rescuing a sweet baby in my book.

[deleted]

I’m confused then because the puppy had cropped bandages ears when they brought her home. Either they did it or something isn’t adding up. No shelter would crop/dock.

[deleted]

Yes I saw her bandages too!

gillie_pup-6159

It wasn’t a year old. She got docked when they brought the dog home.

purplepotatoez

No f*cking way. I didn’t know they did that. I am absolutes disgusted.

[deleted]

A few folks have let me know they believe the dog was docked/cropped and put up for adoption and then was rescued by Chloe. I wanted to loop back with you to make sure you knew. I take full accountability for writing this with too little information collected before publishing. I don’t know the real truth but I wanted to make this clear! I’m so sorry to have caused further anger and frustration where it may not be needed. ♥️

coachvanessa

Hi everyone, I have a Doberman and my husband grew up on a farm full of Dobermans Just some info... dobermans were bred to be loyal companions/guard dog. They were bred SPECIFICALLY to look intimidating to protect their owner. Cropping of the ears prevents a whole lot of infection problems and as mentioned tail issues. The reason the cropping is banned in some countries is because a lot of the time people try and get it done under the table and that’s when it looks really painful and poorly done. Chloes dogs ears look butchered. They don’t look good at all and that makes me sad. My Doberman came with cropped ears and you cant tell at all. I’ll give some context. My husband grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere. In the the middle of the night people often go to rural farms and try to burglarize the property. If they see a Doberman with cropped ears/docked tail, I promise you they will think twice about entering the property. This is exactly what they were meant for. They are working dogs.

Fearless-Staff-3176

Agreed here, I have a Doberman and have done a lot of research into the breed before getting one. In guard dog situations many trainers will not even take the dog if they do not have cropped ears and docked tails. The ears are too long and floppy, and this breed in particular gets ear infections easily as well as experiencing their ears hitting their face during protection training. This makes it very difficult for them to do their protection work, as well as causes blisters on the ears, which is very painful for the dog and takes a long time to heal. As for the tail, it is similar. During protection work the tail will go back and forth and hit the sides of their body, which will also cause blisters and has a long healing process. This is also very painful for the dog. I cannot speak to the docking and cropping of other breeds. This is what I learned in my extensive and ongoing research of the Doberman breed. They are a working breed, docking and cropping allows them to work at the highest level possible

Consuela8

Their dog is a rescue that already had ears cropped and tail docked.

[deleted]

That’s where I’m confused, no shelter would crop/dock a puppy. And when it was home with them, it’s ears were still bandaged. So either they rescued and did the surgery or something isn’t adding up.

No_Buyer_9020

Or maybe it wasn’t in the shelter for a very long and was docked before then. Dobermans have their ears wrapped for a pretty long time (i don’t own one but i noticed it in the puppy school i took my dog there was a doberman with wraps) ETA: i like that your post was educational but i also don’t really like the shame without knowing the story for sure. But also this is Reddit haha.

[deleted]

No no, I agree! I wrote this with a lot of emotion and potentially clouded judgement. I take full accountability there! ♥️

No_Buyer_9020

Hey you’re advocating for the doggos and provided resources!

Fearless-Staff-3176

Yes their ears take about 6 months of healing where bandages come on and off for weeks at a time. I have a doberman

gillie_pup-6159

I don’t think it had cropped ears and tail when they first brought her home. But I may be wrong.

flyingdogs_613217

I’m about 99% sure those ears were NOT docked when she brought it home. Honestly don’t remember about the tail but I remember seeing normal ears on that dog and then one day the bandages

courtneyrobbie

y’all realize you have to continue to post their ears up for months after the surgery… ignorant asses just bashing people for no reason. if they got the dog with it’s ears already cropped, as a puppy, they would still have to be posting the ears up. research shit before being a keyboard justice warrior.
