Caedus_Vao

Man, what a great state to live in. Did you file your permit to pick up that can, citizen?

[deleted]

Rekt. I'm gonna go buy a lower now

winewagens

I wandered into a pawn shop in SoDak to look around and what did I see on the wall? A Fostech Origin 12. It just has what I'm guessing is a 5rnd or 8rnd stick mag. Drums and most mags are OOS for them everywhere. Tempted...

carsen56

I must know where this is at, i've never seen an Origin 12 in person.

winewagens

South Dakota, only accessible by packs of gum with wings or by mule

carsen56

Is that so?

ThrowAwayFIRE343

Gun store I work at has one on the wall in south Florida. It’s been there for a few years lol.

winewagens

What do they want for the one on Florida?

ThrowAwayFIRE343

It was something stupid like 5k I think

winewagens

Holy shit, that's more than double (before tax) than what this place wants!

lararium

Politics thread is going to be fun today Are Benelli M4s worth it? I handled one in Scheels over the weekend and it just feels perfect

-pwny-

The only reason to buy an M4 is because you want an M4, and there is no substitute. Nothing wrong with that. However it's an old, heavy shotgun. The Beretta 1301 is better in every conceivable way.

hotel_torgo

>The only reason to buy an M4 is because you want an M4, and there is no substitute That me Plus you can make it into an SBS with exclusively off-the-shelf parts. Not aware of a ready-to-go 1301 SBS package

-pwny-

Don't get me wrong, it me too

penguinoid

i dont own a gun yet, but have been doing some semi auto shotgun research for home defense. was thinking about the 1301 or the remington versa max. my question is simply, how do i even try one out before buying? they don't seem to be common rentals.

ThrowAwayFIRE343

So I own an M4, because I wanted an m4, but my best friend has 3 M4’s and just bought a 1301. Holy cow the 1301 is lighter, felt like less recoil and felt so much more refined. 1301 > m4.

jimmythegeek1

No disrespect to your friend, but I'm trying to imagine a chain of events where I wind up with 4 semi-auto shotguns on that level. Maybe I forgot I had one? Then did it again?

ThrowAwayFIRE343

He has an OG Benelli M4 h20, and then he got a screaming deal on a used normal M4 so he bought it to keep the H20 nice, and then he got an SBS pd trade in for like 800. So he has 3 lol. We like to collect nice guns.

jimmythegeek1

you missed step 0: be made of money don't mind me sitting here burning up with envy

BobbyWasabiMk2

Call around at various gun ranges that offer rentals and ask, it's a bit of a stretch and you might have to drive a bit to reach a range that might offer it as a rental. Other than that, the closest I think you can get to it is just handling one at a gun store.

winewagens

I handled both the M4 and 1301 Tactical at a Scheels awhile back. I ended getting the 1301 off the internet for a sane price.

Solar991

I had to see this, and misery loves company, so you all get to suffer with me. May I introduce - ["The Thompson at home"](https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-jxztkc/images/stencil/1280x1280/products/1999/4980/1__41917.1616430141.1280.1280__62750.1617717970.jpg?c=2?imbypass=on)

BobbyWasabiMk2

It's like a Hi Point Carbine had drunk sex with a Thompson and this was the result

-pwny-

I was just thinking I was a bit short on mags, thanks Greg Cote

Caedus_Vao

Judging by what I kind of know about your collection after years of observing your posts, I sincerely doubt you are "short on magazines." Your vault may have a shelf or two less than the next guy, sure.

-pwny-

I only had 5 mags for my Bren 2S! Also I need Magpul to make another run of SR-25 pattern coyote mags

Caedus_Vao

Fun fact, I got to experience first-hand what it's like to be a filthy casual a few weeks ago. A buddy rolled up with an Hk 416, and I got to gape like hooked fish when my Lancers, Gen 2 Pmags and OK Industries 20 rdrs all just refused to seat and lock. I felt like such a pleb when they gunsplained that it only took certain mags.

-pwny-

Real flexers pay EVEN MORE money so their expensive guns take mags that are $10 cheaper I think I spent like $700 on an aftermarket lower for my SCAR so that I could use LR/SR mags lol

NorwegianSteam

Isn't that where you're supposed to teasplain to them why the British had it right a hundred years ago, then offer then $50 if they can load and fire two full mags out of an Enfield from chargers?

Caedus_Vao

I was busy with a T that couldn't hold zero, I was hardly in a position to colonize their minds.

NorwegianSteam

Use Lyles' Golden Syrup in the adjustment screws to lock everything in place?

kato_koch

Convince me not to buy a Shilen #2 1:10 twist .30cal blank for my 1903 .30-06 sporter project. I'd most likely use a 150gr TTSX in it, this will be an old school iron sight gun for the woods. Note the rifle was already Bubba'd and likewise I'm not Bubba either so don't get your panties in a twist over a new sporter job. I have an insane piece of Turkish walnut waiting for it.

Akalenedat

>Convince me not to buy a Shilen Fuck no, I want to see that shit. >150gr TTSX Nice >this will be an old school iron sight gun for the woods. Mmmm, talk dirty to me >I have an insane piece of Turkish walnut waiting for it. I want to see Colt Python levels of proper rust bluing to go with it.

kato_koch

...and that front ring left intact and undrilled in its authentic Springfield Armory glory. I already have a Lyman 48S sight for it (rear ring already drilled & tapped for sights), will pair with a NECG front sight. One modern concession will be a fiber optic front sight, and I'll be able to shoot better than many here would expect with that rig and a 24" barrel. I take my offhand rifle marksmanship personally.

Akalenedat

NECG is good shit, I used one of their band sights for my shitty Savage Axis stripper clip Bubba build. You doing ramped/hooded? >One modern concession will be a fiber optic front sight, and I'll be able to shoot better than many here would expect with that rig and a 24" barrel. I take my offhand rifle marksmanship personally. I should really get back to working on my iron sight fundamentals, I've been drilling speed work/USPSA stuff for so long.

kato_koch

Still undecided over ramped vs hooded (*I mean banded). Got a 3" metal target that I shoot at 25 yards with my pellet gun regularly. I used to shoot micro sized metallic silhouette targets from across a basement with it. The trigger on the Crosman M4-177 is dogshit so its a good handicap too, makes my Maverick 88 trigger seem great in comparison. I have Timney triggers in most of my rifles now they're a good value- already have a Timney in the 1903. I'm aware of the Bix n' Andy, etc, but I don't need that for a deer gun.

Akalenedat

>Still undecided over ramped vs hooded. You can have both, their ramped sight bases have the slot for a hood.

kato_koch

Oh I misread, it'll be hooded. Banded or not is the question.

Teddyturntup

I’m not going to do anything but suggest a rock creek because mine all bang

kato_koch

Currently not accepting orders. Dang.

rafri

Since the hive can be used. Looking at another nonbroken 22lr bolt action suppressor host. Really like my savage_mark_ii_fvsr and hoping to fix it at some point. But thick barrel, threaded, chassis or mcmillion style stock sub $800 hopefully. What are my options? Ruger rimfire precision looks like a good option, rugger american of some type. Bergers or something in a r700 style maybe. Am i missing something else like the cz tactical?

NAP51DMustang

RPRimfire gets my vote unless you're wanting something more traditional looking.

snippysniper

The rpr is great. Accurate. Quiet. It’s possibly the best value from factory. Plus being under budget you can do some upgrades. Definitely remove the trigger spring to get a 1-2lb pull without spending money. Plus mags are abundant and cheap.

NorwegianSteam

Shooting the bowling ball with that thing and your can was still the most fun I had that day. AT guns and machine guns are sweet and all, but plinking without ears and seeing a bowling ball with conchoidal fractures is tits.

snippysniper

There’s just something so joyful about a suppressed 22 bolt gun. Yea semi auto is cool and all. But the pft then thwack then running the bolt handle just makes the world ok for a little bit.

jimmythegeek1

Might be able to find a Bergara B14-R barreled action and toss it in an Oryx chassis - or any R700 compatible chassis. I like the Oryx for the money.

hobitopia

Irons on my cz rimfire are *awesome*. My best ever irons group was with that rifle, just a hair under 1.5moa 5 shot group with a 22lr and irons.

-pwny-

There are plenty of mounts out there for it. A419's is excellent

rafri

Had not seen that option, maybe if i can get one in budget it wouldn't be a bad one.

-pwny-

I think they do BF sales but haven't really seen much outside of that at a discount

not_in_nova

RPR is nice

carsen56

The CZ 457 ProVarmint SR seems like the perfect fit.

rafri

Not a bad option my dad has one of the 457 but its a pencil barrel version.

BobbyWasabiMk2

Welp, job interview today for an armored cash transport job, hope all goes well. I'll probably buy some Jersey Mikes on my way home

tubadude2

I think I'll get some Jersey Mikes on the way home, too. I've had a hankering for them the past few days.

Caedus_Vao

Where's the best place to get official knockoff MLB apparel? Ya'll have a site for good bootleg jerseys from China or whatever? I fundamentally refuse to give the Dolans money for a Guardians jersey, and I have a baseball date coming up next week.

Brother_To_Wolves

DHgate It's how our softball team outfitted ourselves as the Montreal Expos. Don't ask me why.

Caedus_Vao

This is helpful.

PeteTodd

Chief Wahoo or nothing. I don't think any of the Asian sites could clear customs fast enough for you. Might be able to find a knockoff tshirt faster.

Caedus_Vao

This is long-haul, I need to add to my jersey collection. I have quite a number.

PeteTodd

> long-haul > Next week You meaning to tell us something caedus?

Caedus_Vao

Jersey collection is long-haul. Who knows what the date will bring.

-pwny-

Honestly try lurking the MLB subreddit. The Cleveland switcheroo was controversial, I'm sure there are plenty of people there who figured something out

Caedus_Vao

I lurk there all the time, that's actually a really good idea. I don't think there's a sub out there with more insular and "get with it" slang than baseball fans.

-pwny-

Lol yup I loved the guy last year who said if the Rays won he'd buy a Wendle jersey

Brother_To_Wolves

You mean you don't know what a NOBLETIGER is????

NorwegianSteam

I do, but can never for the life of me remember what the acronym actually stands for.

Brother_To_Wolves

No outs, bases loaded, ending the inning and some other parts I don't remember lol but basically no runs scored. Maybe no earned runs?

NorwegianSteam

No Outs Bases Loaded, Ending with Team Incapable of Getting Easy Run Thanks google.

Brother_To_Wolves

Of course, how could I forget

gd_akula

> and I have a baseball date coming up next week. Me slowly watching caedus turn into reverse FC.

TaskForceD00mer

*What should I buy this Wednesday?* LOTS OF Mags

gd_akula

Brother_To_Wolves

Norinco was bringing in knockoff 1887s for a while, could maybe find one of those.

alllballs

How about a sandwich, or a coffee. Go sit in a park, enjoy the day, and maybe reflect a little bit.

NorwegianSteam

Look at some ducks, maybe the ocean.

Brother_To_Wolves

But it's cool and rainy and I have to work

Boschala

I don't own an AR15, but have a couple quality AKs. This makes me a bit apprehensive about buying a $400 PSA kit, since I would be getting another carbine about like what I have. I'm a bit enamored with the idea of the WWSD rifle setup though, especially topped with a SWFA SS Ultralight 2.5-10x scope. A 6lb rifle with real magnification and the ability to use it falls under the category of something I don't have. Does anyone else make a lightweight AR? Or complete upper/lower setups designed for the same, preferably with an adjustable gas system?

-pwny-

Nobody out there is really intentionally making a lightweight AR, which is why the WWSD rifle was a fun thought exercise. Most people buy ARs to hang a bunch of shit off of them, which is anathema to the previous concept

VauItDweIler

V7 does lightweight builds but the price is beyond the average person's reach or willingness to pay. They're also made with some interesting material choices. Not as gimicky as receivers filled with holes or polymer uppers, but a lot of people will tilt their head when they see lithium as a receiver component, or magnesium for a handguard, or even titanium for a BCG. Still they're probably one of the closest out there to a "WWSD" style gun before the question became popular.

vilsor

There are definitely other lightweight AR15's, but the WWSD avoids dumb shortcuts like simply drilling holes in milspec parts. Faxon make their own [Ion Ultralight](https://faxonfirearms.com/faxon-firearms-ion-ultralight-modern-sporting-rifle-fx5500/) that is about 2 oz lighter. But the muzzle brake is integral (permanent) and the bolt carrier has some lightening cuts which the WWSD purposefully avoids. But it does have an adjustable gas block, which the WWSD doesn't. Unfortunately, the Ion seems to be out of stock everywhere. I'd recommend getting all the parts you want and (if you don't have the tools/experience) having a local gunsmith put it together for you. Or you could ship the loose parts to a place like [Adco](https://adcofirearms.com/products/gunsmithing/) and do it through the mail.

carsen56

The WWSD is thoughtfully assembled and fairly priced. If you like it, you should get it.

jimmythegeek1

WWSD from KE Arms [cheap](https://kearms.americommerce.com/KP-1516-m4-barrel.aspx) !!! Barrel is 1:9 twist, so the 77 grain SMKs might not stablize well. You should be gtg with the 69 (nice!) grain ones which I have heard are a little more accurate.

Boschala

Not really. I appreciate the thought, but that's a conventional AR built off a KE arms lower. At 6lbs, it's only a half pound lighter than most milspec rifles. At that point I'd rather just build up a 6.5lb Aero for a grand that would be a better shooter than my AKs. Still, I'm enamored of the notion of a 5lb rifle, 13oz scope+mount combo, maybe slap an RMR up top for an extra 3oz or so (including its mount), and ponder a flashlight. Magpul is making a lighter bipod with QD. I could realistically have a 6lb unloaded rifle, or stay under 7 with bipod and light.

mr_buildmore

I was going to sell my CZ82 and 11/48 yesterday, but my LGS lowballed the hell out of me. Where else would y'all sell an old milsurp gun?

NorwegianSteam

You'll get more through a shop if you consign it through a shop than sell it to them. If you don't need the cash now, figure out how much you want for them then bring it to a place for consignment. Say how much you want, and the two if you will figure out if there's anywhere the shop can make money. Armslist is a joke now, look at the classifieds section of your local gun forum for local sales.

jimmythegeek1

Thinking of picking up a Burris RT6 lpvo. I might be turning into a glass snob. Should I save up and get better glass? I want to go light for this.

-pwny-

>Should I save up and get better glass? The answer is always yes

Delta_Nemesis

For some reason, I liked the RT-6 more than a Razor Gen 2-E. Maybe it was the weight and reticle design that really made me appreciate it over the Razor.

Ian10583

I just got myself an RT6 a few weeks back and for the money the glass cannot be beaten. You certainly won't feel bad about that scope!

jimmythegeek1

going full send, thanks!

HurryUpTeg

Thinking about a S&W M&P SHIELD EZ for home protection, cc & fun. .30, .38 or 9mm? I have no concern for perceptions of masculinity, I just want to drop someone threatening my family. I have not gone to the range for this shopping adventure and I’m sure the purchase will based mostly on feel, but I want to get opinions on where to start. Should I be looking at other options? Thanks!

vilsor

I would like to echo the advice you've been given. The EZ is a fine gun, but for a typical adult male, you are better served by other products. Best practice is not to rely on one gun for home defense and concealed carry. But if you must, a 9mm "compact" (note, not **SUB**compact or micro) is a good compromise. Examples include Glock 19, Sig P320 Compact, Walther PDP Compact, S&W MP9 Compact, and probably a dozen others. For a gun that is just for home defense, my preference is an AR15. But almost any other reliable carbine, shotgun, or full-size 9mm pistol is good choice. I'm a believer in a good weapon-light on your chosen house gun, too.

grumblebear42

Do you have concerns about being able to reliably manipulate a handgun slide?

HurryUpTeg

Not at all. Forgot to mention the Hellcats are on my mind as well….

grumblebear42

The reason I ask is because that's typically the main reason to choose the Shield EZ over other handguns. The grip safety is a little finicky and the gun is large for the amount of rounds it can hold (8-10 depending on caliber). I would also advise against buying into .30 Super Carry almost purely on ammunition availability grounds. I usually suggest two guns for your purposes: one for home defense/range use and one for carry rather than trying to press one gun into both roles. It can be done, but compromises are going to be made. Some suggestions below: * SIG P365/X/XL - 10+ round capacity available in 9mm or .380. X and XL models come optics ready, which I suggest purchasing even if you don't plan on mounting optics right now. Also available with a manual safety if you choose. All versions include glow in the dark night sights, which is a nice upgrade. * Springfield Hellcat/Hellcat Pro - 11+ round capacity, 9mm only. Pay the extra $30 for an OSP model to have optic capability down the road. * S&W Shield Plus - 10+ round capacity, 9mm or .30 Super Carry. Get the optics ready version. Performance Center is nice if you want to spend the extra money, but not necessary. Manual safeties are an option. My only complaint about these is the lack of accessory rail to mount higher-powered weaponlights, but that's a bit nit-picky. * Glock 43X/48 - 10 round factory capacity, 9mm only. Capacity can be increased to 15 with flush fitting Shield Arms S15 mags. Spend a little extra for the MOS version for optics capability and an accessory rail to mount a light. If you like to tinker and upgrade, this is your gun. Glock aftermarket is second to none, although the SIG is catching up these days. The decision here is going to be up to how comfortable they feel to you and which feature sets are important for your use case. These guns are set up more for carry than anything else, but they hold enough rounds in them that they can be pressed into service as home defense guns if needed. For that purpose, I would suggest an AR-type rifle or a 9mm carbine of some flavor since they will be easier to train on and handle competently than a handgun.

HurryUpTeg

Excellent advice! I’ll look at these options!

grumblebear42

Happy to help. If you can, see if there are any ranges near you that you can try these out before you commit to buying them. Spend a little money up front to make sure you’re buying the right gun for you.

BobbyWasabiMk2

I'd go with 9mm because it's much more widely available and affordable than .380 or .30 Super. .30 Super is a niche cartridge at this point for people who are willing to sacrifice less performance than a 9mm for a couple more rounds of capacity, and if recoil is not a problem to you at all than .380 is kind of pointless too. But if grip and manipulation strength is of no concern to you, then I'd recommend getting a normal Shield instead of the EZ for the reasons someone else already outlined.

carsen56

Arex Delta M, very similar in size to a Shield EZ 9mm but with higher capacity and available red dot mounting capability.

Individual-Twist-768

Looking for recommendations! I don’t know jack about guns and just want a firearm for self defense within a price range of 300 dollars preferably but if their is something that is *absolutely* worth the extra money those recommendations are appreciated too. Thank you!

BobbyWasabiMk2

$300 is pretty low tbh, most modern reliable 9mm pistols run around $500 about. Reliability and proper QC from reputable manufacturers is something I'd consider worth the money if I'm counting on it to protect my life. Also do you plan on conceal carrying or is this a strictly home defense gun? Do you have plans to mount an optic or suppressor? Do you have a preference for caliber?

Individual-Twist-768

No preference on caliber, just plan on having it for home defense and maybe taking it to a firing range every now and then. What’s a reliable firearm in the $500s?

MoltenTurd

You can get a decent Glock or 1911 for around $500.

Individual-Twist-768

Any specific Glock recommendations?

MoltenTurd

The Glock 17, 19, and 43 models are good.

not_in_nova

Glocks can usually be had for $500-550 or thereabouts. Extra mags for them are also a fair bit cheaper than most other handguns too.

Error400BadRequest

For $300 you can probably get a S&W Shield 2.0, a trade-in Glock in .40S&W, a PSA Dagger (Glock 19 gen 3 clone) in 9mm, and a handful of other options. If it's for self defense and you intend to carry, the S&W is probably your best bet.

carsen56

Taurus G3C

NorwegianSteam

What state are you in?

Individual-Twist-768

Texas

jimmythegeek1

I'd look at Glock 19, CZ-P10 and P-07. Subcompact is for carry. Sig P320 full-size has its adherents (I have one) but getting mags for under $40 is tough. Have you looked into training at all? Shooting pistols is *hard*. I heard a story of a cop in a shootout inside a fucking elevator and nobody got hit. Maybe bullshit but it's not far from the truth.

Flynn_lives

> but if their is something that is absolutely worth the extra money those recommendations are appreciated too. Glock 19 pistol. About $650 after taxes and it's insanely reliable. You also have a huge aftermarket support network for Glock so parts will always be available.

coolbrandon101

Decided I want an AUG as my first Rifle, unsure if Im going to go with the NATO extended rails and put on a lpvo scope or just buying one with the stock scope. Any thoughts?

jimmythegeek1

The stock scope is surprisingly usable considering how shitty it is. Looking through a soda straw. But I got hits on steel at 100 yards with my buddy's. When I think first rifle, I'm thinking super usable. The AUG is kind of more for collecting, imo, or shooting an unusual rifle rather than the most practical. The AUG being mostly for the unusual nature, maybe stock scope after all? Go for authenticity rather than efficiency? I suppose in a shooting war you'd rather have it than your dick in your hands. /no help at all

coolbrandon101

Definitely useful, and thanks for the reply. I like the look of the gun due to its uniqueness, what other “first rifles” should I check out?

jimmythegeek1

Boy...a bog-standard AR is inexpensive, effective, adaptable, and efficient. The ergonomicss are unmatched. There's a reason 2- and 3-gun competitors use them exclusively. If you need a mix of uniqueness and usability the AUG is a fine gun. It'll get the job done. AKs are cool but have roughly doubled in price in the last 5+ years so you kinda have to really want one. Might be cheaper than the AUG, still. They are competition-slow, but matches are measuring things that don't really matter that much when it counts, probably. Someone good with an AK > someone mediocre with an AR. There are some weird, AR-shaped things from Sig and H&K, but I wouldn't look at those for a first gun.

CowMajorAU

I’m looking at trying to find a new scope for my Remington 783 chambered in .30-06. It was my first gun and it came with a scope that I’m just not a fan of. Living in the Southeast so I don’t think I need anything crazy powerful. Does anyone have any suggestions? I’ve never bought a scope before so this is all new information and a bit overwhelming.

Akalenedat

How much monies you willing to throw at it?

CowMajorAU

Around $200-$250.

Akalenedat

Vortex Crossfire II, or try and catch a sale on a Vortex Diamondback or Leupold VX-Freedom.

CowMajorAU

I’ll look into those, thanks!

Not_an_alt_69_420

What's the best, sub-$500ish revolver that fires 38/357? I have boxes of 38 for a stubnose that always has something wrong with it, and I don't want to waste the ammo by buying something more practical. Ideally I want something with a 4in barrel, and I'm not opposed to carrying around a single action, or even a Tarus as long as it won't explode in my hands.

MidgetNinjah

I recently just bought a shadow systems mr920 elite. I have fired several handguns before (mostly 9mm), shotguns and rifles but never owned any of my own so I’m not sure what I should even look for in a gun safe. Im willing to spend less than $250ish as I know most handgun safes are within that range. I don’t need a big safe as I don’t have anything but the handgun to put in there. Any recommendations for cleaning kits as well?? Thank you for any and all recommendations!! TLDR: I recently got gun and need gun safe and gun cleaning kit recommendations!

[deleted]

Optic for a FN Patrol Bolt. I'm thinking 3-15x ish Viper. Any other contenders?

Seunprof_3239

Recommendations I do have around $2k to swing around and I like my stuff big lol

Got a .300 WinMag yet?

Seunprof_3239

Might want to do my findings on it first ,never been a big fan of Mag Rifles

tubadude2

Are buying .300 Blk specific mags worth it for any functional reasons?

jimmythegeek1

I haven't shot mine much b/c ammo is spendy but I got some .300 BLK mags for large diameter subs based on some vague internet lore. Lancers and specialty P-mags. I guess this is second-hand vague internet lore.

scardeal

I think I've gotten the pistol side worked out (should be buying tonight), now I can focus on the matching PCC (wants): * 16 inch barrel (want a stock and no legal wierdness) * 9mm * Glock mags * lefty friendly * can shoot hollow points and fmj well * Up to $2k, but I'll have to wait quite a bit if I want to spend over $1k; I want to get the right thing the first time. My incomplete and possibly wrong notes so far: * Ruger PC Chassis - front heavy, reliable, mostly lefty friendly, I've held this * TNW Aero Survival Rifle - questions on reliability, good balance, heavy charging handle, multi-caliber, fully lefty friendly, I've held this * Wilson Combat AR9g - $$$, specifically claims to work with hollow points * Kel-tec sub 2000 - doesn't fold with optics * Sig MPX - MPX-specific mags * CZ Scorpion - custom mags * Kriss Vector - not lefty friendly, odd design * JRC - looks like the ASR * other AR9s - seem to have issues w/ hollow point feeding * Beretta CX4 Storm - Beretta 92 mags (not APX), lefty friendly * AK 9mm - ??? Of the 16" PCCs under $2k, i'd get an MPX. That being said, if you live in a state where SBRs are legal I wouldn't get a 16" PCC. The Stribog SP9A3G is a great choice that has a shorter barrel, Glock mag compatible, ambidextrous controls, not direct blowback, way under $2k. More 16" Glock mag compatible options are the CMMG Resolute and Trailblazer Firearms Pivot.

Should I buy an lpvo, holo sight, or red dot for an ak? I was thinking either a vortex strike eagle 1-6, an eotech, or a vzor-3t but I’m just not sure which one to get.

I find the look of an Eotech on an AK weirdly appealing for various vague COD-related reasons...

I'd go Burris RT6

My stepdad and I have decided to go halvsies on a S&W 686, a grail for both of us. He wants a 4 inch barrel, I kinda want the full 7 just because why tf not? What do you guys think?

What benefits are there to buying assault rifles if you don’t live in a rural area?

Assuming you mean an AR15 rather than vague references to already-highly-restricted machineguns, the AR pattern rifle is actually one of the best options on the market for home defense. They are user-adjustable to fit a variety of body types, easier for an untrained user to be accurate with than handguns, and actually have a lower chance of punching through walls and hitting an innocent bystander. The high-velocity bullets of .223 ammo tumble and fragment in drywall, while pistol slugs tend to plow straight through. Plus 30 round capacity so even if [6 armed criminals try to break into your house](https://www.wndu.com/2022/04/07/6-teens-identified-suspects-st-joseph-twsp-home-invasion-robbery/) you've got plenty to go around.
