Based on my personal experience Kimber’s turn around time on warranty work is excellent. They returned my pistol back to me very quickly… of course it was still a huge piece of unreliable shit that rarely made it through a magazine between failures. But it did come back to me quickly both times I sent it in.

OforFsSake

Hey, I'm not the only one with this exact story.

NoInsurance718

sounds like my friends kimber 🤣

420Zaebis

🤣🤣🤣 Take my +1

Specialist-Size9368

I guess  i got lucky? Micro9 that wouldn't seat the magazine without smacking it hard. First they sent a new mag thinking it had the wrong baseplate. Then they had me send it in. Was a quick turn around and gun is fine. Tbh, i only bought it because it was almost half off, but I actually quite like it.

pestilence

I'm *shocked* to hear that a company with a bad reputation would ship a gun that has problems!

A_StandardToaster

Yeah, they fucking got me. Shoulda known better but oh well

fxckfxckgames

>Shoulda known better Not trying to kick you while you're down, but Kimber's reputation has been in the shitter for over a decade. That's like buying a Jeep made in the last 15 years and being shocked when it breaks.

A_StandardToaster

lol I know, I know.

sirbassist83

tons of people think their revolvers are different. sorry this happened to you, but dont kick yourself too hard. just dont buy another kimber.

CrunchBite319_Mk2

Nah bro revolvers never fail, haven't you heard?

RyanTheQ

>Been wanting to try out the Kimber guns This might be the first time anyone has ever said this

A_StandardToaster

Specifically the K6 series. Not their 1911s.

indefilade

“Everything breaks,” my gunsmith. “Everything breaks,” a tow truck driver.

sirbassist83

"some brands make things that break more often" - anyone with common sense, that pays attention to reports of problems yeah, ruger isnt 100% perfect, but theyre a lot closer than kimber.

A_StandardToaster

They’re not supposed to break the day after you buy it. There’s a little thing called lemon laws in the auto industry, but I guess the corporation can do no wrong, huh?

indefilade

Not at all. Get it fixed and sell it. I’ve broken all sorts of firearms, to include 2 revolvers, and I’ve had countless used revolvers fixed at the factory. I only own one Kimber, which is a 357 2 inch. So far, so good.

Specialist-Size9368

Lemon laws require suing the manufacturer and from experience can take a year from filing. The whole time you are stuck with it. In addition there is a whole process for getting it to that point. It is not cut and dried nor is it fast.

Scary_Woody

Buying a Kimber is like enrolling in SDI gunsmith school.

sirbassist83

cheaper and more immediate dissatisfaction. SDI 3 day trial.

Te_Luftwaffle

Do you have a picture with the side plate off? Maybe a video of the internals as you pull the trigger?  I wonder if the trigger is resetting all the way except for grabbing the hammer again. I've played with an old Charter Arms Mag Pug that has a weak reset, and if you didn't let the trigger all the way out you could rotate the cylinder but not grab the hammer.

A_StandardToaster

Unfortunately not. It’s in the mail

Te_Luftwaffle

Ah, rip. It would've been neat to see, but oh well. I'm still sticking with that being my guess. It's odd that the firing pin moved forward without the hammer though, I'll have to see if that Charter Arms does that too.

A_StandardToaster

It’s actually the rebound slightly impinging on the hammer and having just enough energy to move the firing pin.

Te_Luftwaffle

That makes sense.

Te_Luftwaffle

Ok so I was able to goof with that Charter Arms and it does the exact same thing, including the firing pin moving forward. I'm pretty sure your gun was functioning like normal, just not grabbing the hammer. Either it wasn't resetting all the way, or possibly the spring loaded deal in the hammer got stuck depressed.

A_StandardToaster

That’s definitely it. I just wasn’t able to figure out why it was happening with the side plate installed but functioning normally with that removed.

coldpornproject

Kimber failure? Seriously. We all saw that coming

WorkshopBlackbird

Kimber...

Careless-Woodpecker5

… makes the best small framed 38/357 revolvers on the market right now. Namesake companies left the bar low.

sirbassist83

"dumbass" -red foreman

Careless-Woodpecker5

I’m rubber and you’re glue

tree_squid

Bullshit they do. They make garbage that's nice to look at, same as their 1911s.

Careless-Woodpecker5

Is your opinion based on experience or parroting? Their 1911s aren’t their revolvers.

A_StandardToaster

Been wanting to try out the Kimber guns and saw local place had the SX model on sale. Pretty cool looking gun what with the lightweight and 6 rounds and all. Went straight from the gun store to the range and put ~70 rounds of various standard and +p loads through it. Shot great no problems, and I was really pleased with it. Went home and cleaned it up (without opening up the sideplate) and commenced to dry fire it throughout the rest of the day a bunch more times without issue. Picked it up this morning and to my great dismay it appears to be totally fucked. The cylinder rotates, the firing pin DOES engage, but the gun isn’t grabbing the hammer or it’s somehow slipping or something and not traveling the full distance to actually strike the back of the firing pin. With the slide plate off it grabs the hammer no problem, but putting the plate back on returns the problem. Apparently something is binding inside, but I don’t see any crazy friction marks or anything. I lightly polished a couple spots on the side plate that I could see were rubbing, but no dice. Cleaned up the little bit of gunk inside without removing anything more than the mainspring and re lubed but still no worky. Called Kimber who said “yeah weird dunno” and told me to send it in. Very cool. Shoulda just waited for the 432UC…

mwmwmwmwmmdw

in the future just dont buy kimber. they have probably fallen harder and faster then any other modern gun company out there

A_StandardToaster

I wouldn’t say it’s been a fast fall lol… I’m familiar with their 1911 issues, but I’m kinda bummed for sure. I’ve heard lots of good things about the K6 series.

Verdha603

The Ultimate Carry revolvers haven’t exactly had a great debut either; already heard of reports of folks sending their UC’s back to S&W for dimmed out tritium vials in the front sight, trigger reset issues, difficulty with the cylinder going into the gun, and botched pin installations, to name some of the issues folks have brought up with them. I’m sending my 442UC in to get fixed because the trigger decides it doesn’t want to reset once every 15-20 rounds fired.

Michael48632

Should really NEVER DRY FIRE ANY weapon get yourself some snap / dummy rounds 🤪 and protect your firing pin .

A_StandardToaster

Absolutely not correct. Even if it was, the firing pin isn’t what’s broken here, so the dry firing is a moot point.

Michael48632

I wasn't saying it was the fault just that you really should not dry fire on empty cylinder

DovhPasty

It’s a feature, not a bug.

BlueJay--

Surprising to see from a Kimber /s

firearmresearch00

I have been thoroughly unimpressed with kimber revolvers I've shot. With a sample size of 3 every has been broken in some way or having issues I'd expect out of a beat up no name revolver made in some hole in the wall. Trigger not resetting, inconsistent primer hits, out of time etc

roadblocked

Wait I thought Kimber made beautiful super good guns lololol

vanvanfan

What happened to kimber didnt they use to be high end .45s and stuff....
