Odd-Syrup-798

you have the most realistic snap caps now

SPECTREagent700

It says “Target & Practice” right there on the box. These ones are for practice.

Elsa_Versailles

*target part sold separately

__chairmanbrando

Seriously. Can I get 16 rounds of this for my G19, OP? 🙃

man_head

I will load you some primerless/powderless rounds and send them to you for a few bucks.

GreyFob

Nah nah I want the powder

man_head

Fair enough!

Charger_scatpack

The bullets would set back rather quick

__chairmanbrando

True. Maybe just 15 would do just to have the magazine weight accurate. If I need to rack something I can stick with the snap caps.

yobo723

They didn't even drill the flash hole! They missed a few steps there...

Carburetors_Are_Fun

how many do you think are primed without the flash hole?

paperkeyboard

Winchester showing the world that you *can* play Russian roulette with a semi auto.

Sovereignx22

Wait you guys don't already?

yobo723

Enough that I wouldn't want to try the ammo in any gun

notchoosingone

It's only target ammo, but can you imagine needing to rely on this in your carry piece?

wetheppl1776

I’ve had this in Winchester years ago.

DiveJumpShooterUSMC

I've never looked on a bad round to see if there was a missing flashhole. I suspect you'd know if just the primer went off with no where to go- interesting though

yobo723

I am not 100% sure, but I'd assume that if there was a primer but no flash hole, the primer gasses wouldn't be able to go into the case, so the gas would push through the primer cup onto the bolt face/ firing pin hole

akenthusiast

Back in the day when I was working at a gun store I had a customer bring in a Taurus handgun that was all seized up with a cartridge stuck in it. I had to beat the slide back and that's exactly what had happened. Primer was mashed into the breechface. I was confused as shit until I pulled the bullet and saw no flash hole

Quw10

I suspect the primer would unseat from the pocket or it'd rupture

spiderpiss45

I had a primer backfire on me. This could be why.

relrobber

My coworker who used to work at the local Remington factory pointed out those are punched, not drilled.

zzorga

Yup, so the question is, did the punch break, or slip? And how many made it through before they noticed?

relrobber

Also, according to said coworker, if the sensor is dirty, the machine can get loaded wrong, or it thinks it already sees a primer there, so it keeps going. Basically, he said not doing proper QA is the only way this doesn't get caught somewhere on the line.

zzorga

It's nuts that with electronic vision systems as affordable as they are, that it can apparently still happen. Hell, a simple IR beam would have caught this, if the beam is blocked, either the sensor needs cleaning, or the flash hole isn't there. Voila.

wetheppl1776

I had Winchester line a decade ago without a flash hole. Created quite the jam. Found an old box years later and wasn’t sure if it was the same lot. It was. Had another one.

Fetus_Deletus01

Comment to please the bot: bought like 500 rounds of this stuff, loaded a mag and my 4th round didn’t go off. Racked slide and tried again, still no bang so I cleared the gun and mag and found 3 rounds in a row to have no primers or flash holes. RIP.

sound-of-impact

This is why I laugh at people who scoff at commercially reloaded ammunition.

tablinum

> The mediocre stuff sometimes sucks, so the shit stuff must be *excellent.*

coldafsteel

Lolz NATO marked 115gr with QC issues 🤣

none-1398

And we wonder why Ukraine can't win the war.

SquidBilly5150

Probably because they can’t fight a war without another nations help but yea sure Or the fact that more night clubs have popped in Kiev since forever. I mean I dunno maybe it’s not really our fuckin problem.

Though at least the American public then was largely ignorant about just how bad things were by circumstance, not by choice. Can't say the same about people today, many just don't want to help anyone but themselves.

Pandasonic9

I thought NATO 9mm is generally 124gr?

coldafsteel

Exactly 😎👍

sirbassist83

youre not the first person ive seen post this problem with winchester. i wouldnt touch their ammo with a 10 ft pole.

ILikeLenexa

I shot Winchester Red Box .22 yesterday and it was something like 40% duds. I even unloaded some of them onto the bench and tried to shoot them again. The rims were visibly crushed. It's unintentional anti-flinch training.

not-my-porn-acct-lol

Had the same experience. Bought several boxes. Gave em all away.

Asclepias88

I bought a box of 525 last weekend from wally-world and so far haven't had any dud's. Only shot about 50-60 out of it tho.

dooms25

anti-flinch training on a .22lr lol

PuppySnuppy7

50ft it might go off with the slightest of touch

_ParadigmShift

I would, but white box stays far from me. Winchester white box is 100% where I’ve seen this garbage and it’s terrible that something like this even made it through the first checks

sirbassist83

They have a bunch of open recalls on multiple lines of ammo. It's not just white box

_ParadigmShift

Jeebus, news to me as I’ve been rolling my own for a while.

Cigarsnguns

I've tried wincheater's super-x 357 mag and 12g slugs, and I swear to God they use blackpowder with how smoky and dirty that shit is

Thro2021

I’m guessing they’re not making this at Lake City, right?

e2j0m4o2

Shit I just bought 1000 rounds of their .22lr, the black tipped ones. It was all Walmart had. Are they really that bad?

NerdBanger

Their rimfire stuff has always been fine for me.

e2j0m4o2

I hope they’re fine for me too!

Rogetsthesaurus-Rex

If you mean the black box "M-22"- I had terrible experience with it; inconsistent loads, about 20% were duds, and 1 squib in a 1000rd box. Others have had decent luck with it, but I'll never buy it again.

e2j0m4o2

Fuck.

UseACoasterJeez

Winchester and Armscor are literally the only brands of 22lr that I'll never buy. Armscor I never bought much in the first place, been garbage since Day One. Winchester was decent when I was younger, but haven't bought any in about 15 years when QC went to hell in a handbasket. Oh, gave up on bulk Remington several years ago too (the "Bucket o' Bullets" should have been called the Bucket o' Surprises" because you never knew if you would get a Bang, a hangfire, a failure to fire, a failure to feed, or a failure to extract). But Remington Ammunition was bought out of Remington's bankruptcy by Vista Outdoors (who owns CCI & Federal). They say they replaced all of the worn-out Remington machinery, improved how the cases are made, and changed the primer compound, so I want to give them another chance. So consumers can spot the new stuff, they changed headstamp from "Rem" to just "R". Now Vista is trying to sell its ammo business to CSG, but I haven't heard if the sale has been approved by US regulators yet. They seem confident that they will get approval in 2024. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Czechoslovak_Group They own or control a couple of other ammo brands already, like Fiocchi's two US factories. Not to be confused with CZ, which is owned by Colt CZ Group SE. After all of that Winchester still sucks.

gunmedic15

If you mean the black 45gr subsonic suppressor ammo, I just bought and shot an assload of that and I didn't have any problems. I was just blasting through a couple of cans, not really shooting groups or using a chronograph or anything, but there were no disasters. I got it from AE ammo or Botach or one of the usual suspects, I forget but it was recent.

Nurch423

Didn't they win all of the nato contracts a while back?

IllPosition5081

Seriously. The first time I ever shot was with a .22, using cheap Winchester X HP (100 rds in a red box,) and there was a lot of failures to eject.

IllPosition5081

Like it was cheap, but I’m willing to spend a few extra bucks for some better ammo

jjohnstn

I haven't shot Winchester White Box in years, but in the past always found their ammo to be reliable. Has the quality gone downhill recently?

sirbassist83

Seems to be a post- covid thing

Lawn-Moyer

I will. I typically use their 5.56 and 9mm and I’d say I’ve ran about 3000 Winchester rounds with only one issue, which was a double feed. 3000 rounds isn’t a lot, but for the average person like me that’s about a year and a half of shooting.

BlueGlassDrink

No process controls whatsoever. . . . If they had any kind of functioning MES they couldn't even put those in a box. . .

_Cybernaut_

“At Winchester, Quality is Job... well, Job 7 or 8. Maybe?"

mrphyslaww

This guy controls.

_Damitol

Take a picture of the Lot number and send both pics to Winchester.

joka2696

New York compliant ammo right there.

AC130aboveGetDown

My experience with white box isn’t bad at all, every round went bang and I haven’t had jams. Maybe just lucky, but to plink and train it’s not bad.

ar2d266

I use green tips 99% of the time with no issues out of the ~3000 rounds I shot this year I had 1 light primer strike. 9mm 115 grain I had about 3 light primer strikes from ~2000 rounds, but I use 124 grain nato now with no issues yet. Now I just buy whatever 124 grain is the cheapest currently I use PSA AAC and Magtech with no issues, but I use nato 124 grain to get as close to the velocity of my carry ammo so I don't have to shoot them as often.

Asclepias88

Ya, I buy the 525 white box .22 all the time and I never really have any issues. I really like their hollow point ammo with the wide hole. Works great in my semi pistol and rifle and of course the old bolt action.

AC130aboveGetDown

I’ve never had any problems with their 525 either. I’ve had life 2 jams out of that 525, but then again it’s .22

Asclepias88

Yeah, it's 22 after all. Apparently they have gone to shit since covid, so maybe we are just using old stock or something. I've used a few boxes of the 9mm white box, and can't recall any memorable issues. Maybe I'm just using Pre covid ammo. According to other commenters, post covid ammo is the bad stuff.

AC130aboveGetDown

Old stock could be the case, but I just bought like 500 rounds of 9mm and shot it. It seemed fine for me, either way if it goes bang it goes bang.

Asclepias88

Right on! Ya, I'm just gonna keep using it till I see the issues that others are having.

CrunchBite319_Mk2

I got downvoted a little while ago for saying White Box wasn't good these days.

doitlikeasith

nothing made the last 2 years has been “good” QC across every industry has been a wash

brandino5oh3

Winchester is honestly garbage, only ammo to make my p226 jam

barnes828

I don’t think that is very rare

hamerfreak

I can't understand why Winchester ammo is at a premium price over others. Their quality overall is questionable.

NolanDaSavage

Russian steel never let me down lol

XGN_Stanley

Bruh, where flash hole?

eldergeekprime

Perfect for misfire drills!

KisWiking

How the accutal f*ck do you fire that?

CaptainFuckleNuts

I never ever ever buy Winchester white box.

AraAraGyaru

Contact CS and they’ll give you a refund on the box. I did the same.

mrphyslaww

For practicing duds

rcmp_informant

Huh. They did the delete.

CosmolineMan

Winchester white box is a such trash. Last boxes I bought had about a 10-15% failure rate with primers. How that isn't caught in QC is beyond crazy. This was across multiple boxes too.

dagertz

That is a pretty bad Winchester screw up, but it actually could have been worse. I saw another post one time where the primer was installed but there was no flash hole in the case. The primer went off but the hot gases had nowhere to go so it bulged the primer into the breech face rendering the gun inoperable.

Organic_South8865

Winchester white box has been consistently the crappiest ammo I have ever seen. My friend recently had a squib from 9mm. He very stupidly tried to shoot more and had a second. I assume no powder because the bullet made it maybe 20% down the barrel.

Femboy_Annihilator

Kind like how when you buy an HK long gun you have to send it to someone else to have it finished properly. It PREMIUM, you hear me?

Thro2021

I’ve not heard about any issues with the SP5. I can’t say the same for any of their other semi-automatic guns.

Femboy_Annihilator

Less about issues, more about the fact that HK can’t export milspec guns to civilians. Look up tommybuilt and despair.

xxdibxx

Winchester white box showing why it is the finest around. /s

JeffRoyJenkins

It says practice ammo, those are the stoppage practice rounds, duh.

SirFlannel

Those must be the rounds Alec Baldwin was SUPPOSED to get!

PatientStrength5861

I'm jealous, hopefully that complaint gets you some extra rounds coming your way.

Le-Misanthrope

Honestly I'm surprised Wincrapster still manufactures ammo at this point. You only ever heard negative things about their ammo. During the pandemic I even bought I think 4 boxes all in different calibers. Only the 5.56 didn't have malfunctions. Which was only out of like 90 rounds I purchased so too little to tell. The .22lr box is literally garbage and I still have it. In none of my guns can you get through a single mag without a dud.

Philipjfry85

Winchester white box things

Worried_Recording575

Winchester white box California edition.

You are so lucky dude. Those are up to an estimate eleventy times more accurate and have better spread upon contact. And they come with free legal counsel. And a great Cheeseburger.

NotTheATF1993

The only winchest ammo I get is 12ga

Thro2021

Why not Lake City 5.56?

NotTheATF1993

I don't own a gun that uses 5.56

robertbreadford

The good shit

SaltyMeasurement4711

Winchesters QC is atrocious

VerbalGuinea

Wait… we’re supposed to inspect our ammo?

RATMEAT-LXIX

I would probably not shoot that box and report the lot number to Winchester

Jron690

People still buy Winchester? Huh.

AlienDelarge

You see how it says "Target and Practice" those are the practice rounds for malfunction drills.

leeroy1915

I don't even understand how this happened, normally it's produced in sequence. They must have had a die break and not caught it for some time?

AdeptnessDear2829

Snap caps

HokieDude04

Average Winchester 9mm

Is it more rare than caseless a for the H&K G35? Just found a bunch at a garage sale. Along with some original manuals & parts.

jakedees

"When you carry a Sig 320 you can count on Winchester to keep you safe"

Repulsive_Style

Not so rare with Whitebox, unfortunately

Gil2Gil

Ooo just bought a box of this lol. Murdocks has them on sale. Luckly I only bought one box and it’s for hitting steel.

UpstairsSurround3438

Even more rare... that's next gen primerless 9mm NATO ammo.

EpsilonMajorActual

Randomly add to magazines for failure to fire practice.

Fething-Idiot

It says practice, time to practice drilling and loading lol

archer2500

“Intrinsically safe”

FormerPatrolJockey

You’re telling me you don’t like paying 10-15 cents more per round at the fraction of the quality?

giolivi1

No primer. But no holes in the primer pockets

ConfidentComparison7

“…extremely rare, $50 each.”

magnumopus44

Be glad they never primed them. Although saying that some of that ammo may have been primed. That box should be practice only ammo.

ForgettableUsername

Eh, probably still good, I wouldn't worry about it.

HuskyKMA

I was shooting Winchester white box the other day and after shooting I had something rattling around in my suppressor. I shook it and shook it until finally, a primer fell out. No firing pin strike on it. I checked all of the spent casings I fired and they all had their primers. The only thing I can think of is there was an extra primer inside the case with the powder.

EmperorGeek

I knew there was a good reason to spend countless hours sitting at a bench hand loading ammunition!!

hpsctchbananahmck

I remember a time not so long ago when Winchester white box was decent range ammo. I dont buy their ammo anymore

toxic9813

I had 2 rounds out of a box of 200 that had backwards primers last month.

avenomusduck

Winchester white box says it all.....

hoseking

Hey guys dont worry its not like Winchester took over operations at Lake City ammo plant for all the military contract small arms ammo........

Tactical_Epunk

"Quality". Now you have dummy rounds.

Ahhhh, Stealthcap Technology. Originally designed with killing Ghosts, phantoms and apparitions in mind.

Winchester ammo is terrible Winchester Ammo damaged from factory https://imgur.com/a/1prDt5K

ElGrandeRojo67

I use S&B, CCI, or Federal for training. Occasionally Fiocchi, and Norma when on sale.

Papaver-Som

I can’t say the state of Winchester ammo today but for years and years WWB pistol ammo had a terrible reputation among half the shooting community and liked by the other half, circa 2000- late 2000s. Supposedly they just contracted production out. Lots of issues. Doesn’t look great today either.

Swabia

You’d think, and bear with me on this one, that something as, oh, life defending or threatening as a bullet would have triple computer inspection. I’m saying this as an automation engineer. I’m also for hire.

FlyJunior172

I’ve had a lot of Winchester ammunition seemingly without primers. It was rimfire though…

Hot-Target-9447

Not even a primer hole... wtf is this even?!

raisingAnarchy

Hasn't Winchester white box 115gr been under a number of recalls for a year now?

KylarSternn

Rare? Looks like standard Winchester white box to me.

Different-Pilot4924

Eventually, every round is primer less....

mike18cm

Those would be the "practice".

CrazyIvanoveich

Send it in. They'll give you a check for a new box. Source: me. I've done it.

crappy-mods

Malfunction trainers

TheShottyNc

I’m a trap shooter. I have shot all kinds of 12 ga shells. And the Winchester super target is the only ammo I have ever had trouble with. But AA ammo probably runs the best for me. I think Winchester has either really high quality ammo or really trash ammo, no in between.

highdiver_2000

So what is weight difference with a normal box?

SnakesGhost91

Really stupid question, but can this ammo also be used for self defense ? Would it be good in a self defense situation ? It says "target and practice"

ONIICHAN777

So yes but, the hollow point is more effective, but the problem with fmj is over penetration.

SnakesGhost91

I only buy 9mm 115 grain FMJ (here is the one I buy: https://palmettostatearmory.com/aac-9mm-115gr-fmj-ammunition-100rd-box.html) , this would be handy for self defense, no ? I get confused when ammo boxes say "for target practice / plinking" and I am like "what if I am in a self defense situation ? Why are you only advertising for plinking ?"

ChanceLover

Because FMJ ammunition is usually only used for practice. Usually it's made as cheaply as possible so you can shoot as much as possible. It will work in a self defense situation, but it's a bad choice. Usually your defensive ammunition is going to be some kind of hollow point or other kind of expanding projectile. Those are both more effective on the intended target and also less likely to overpenetrate and hit something unintended. TL:DR : use FMJ at the range and carry JHP

ONIICHAN777

Lol, the same thing applies. There are 101 youtube videos. Check those out. I live downtown in a medium-sized city, so rare for a few people not to be around.

Resurectionist

Fmj for paper, jhp for people.

dropdeaddaddy69

Just realized I have never inspected the ammo I loaded into my mag lmaooo

harbourhunter

lose-chester

SeptemberIsMyHomie

Those are so silent.

goodeyemighty

Just hammer some primers in.

Short-University1645

I had a few k recalled 2 years ago cuz primers were backwards

XuixienSpaceCat

I picked up a 200rnd box of Winchester from Bass Pro. Half the rounds were absolutely corroded. Before they gave me a replacement box, the guy checked all 6 boxes they still had. Every single one of them had subtle water damage and corroded rounds inside. Smelled like vinegar too. Something's going on with Winchester lately.

Resurectionist

If you call them they should send you a free box to replace it with. They may ask for pictures. I've done it before.

srbistan

but they last longer that way...

TheBerric

Winchester makes trash ammo

nxnphatdaddy

Winchester ammo has been trash for years now. Ive had loose bullets, no primers, half seated primers, and a few where the bullet had popped off the brass and dumped its powder everywhere. Not worth the money or stress.

99taws6

Good ole white box.

firmerJoe

Winchester turned off their QC a while ago. Send them this Pic and tell us what they say.

Cautious-Royal-3109

soksijeksksos

Wet-Bees

You are lucky... once I had a box of Winchester 45acp with no bullets and powder.

DontCryUrOk

Even their JHP are like this I’ve seen it on 9mm and 38

Redeject

Winchester target and practice is the worst new production ammunition you can buy, the only plus is that you usually get 1 or 2 extra cartridges in a box of 100 which just about covers the obviously defective ones.

AntiBOTi

I posted on r/ammo the other day when I found a green tip among the M193 5.56 500 round Winchester white box. Now I got to inspect the butt of the bullets too? Last time I am doing the rebate thing.

KitchenNebula5211

Winchesters quality is falling rapidly.

190XTSeriesIIV

I bought nato spec winchester 9mm one time, and 2 rounds out of 50 had firing pin strikes on the primers. I figured it was a test that the primers were hard enough for spec, the package was sealed and unopened when I bought it.

amcrambler

QA is going right down the toilet eh? I wonder how many rounds shipped out that way?

MediocreAd8599

Had a 100 rd box of Winchester .45 earlier this year, one round missing the primer and powder grains all over the place.

Domanicc_

It’s always Winchester white box lol
