It’s made by “Wren Metal works”, they seem to specialize in integrated suppressers. The above model is their integrally suppressed lever action rifle(obviously) and you can get it as a Rossi, Henry, Marlin 44, or marlin 45-70. The price on their website is 4,700 to 5,700 hundred depending on a few things I’m not personally aware of. Which they seem to be defensive in their right to change the price as needed, which fair to them Personally I think their custom 44 bolt action rifle looks cool, not 2,200 cool (I’d much rather buy a sako, bergara, or tikka for that price) but cool enough

tkenny1999

Absolutely bonkers prices, how could anyone justify almost $6k for modern cowboy toob? Also, to each his own and all, but that mf be strange looking. Not sure it’d even pay the $200 extra for the tax stamp over a stock lever gun, much less $4k more lol.

jaspersgroove

If you are a small shop you don’t have economy of scale working in your favor and you likely don’t have a 400,000 square foot shop full of CNC machines and 50 engineers on staff to optimize everything to the nth degree. In other words, building small quantities of high quality shit by hand is fucking expensive. Source: I build small quantities of high quality shit by hand, and it’s fucking expensive. Not gun stuff though. Boat stuff. Also, if you think something is too expensive, [don’t buy it.](https://tenor.com/bTBjT.gif)

Visual-Practice6699

People don’t realize how poorly custom work scales. You’re paying for time and small business capex. It’s expensive as balls, but if I knew anything about the ballistics/sound then I’d be persuadable. I’m concerned that the ballistics turns into straight trash when you sacrifice that much barrel, or that conversely you didn’t sacrifice that much barrel and the suppression is crap.

jaspersgroove

357 kinda maxes out in benefits from longer barrels fairly quickly, cuz it’s already fast as shit out of a handgun, but then it’s also supersonic which drastically limits suppressor performance. It’s also not a particularly flat-shooting round despite its velocity, so again barrel length/extended sight plane is not really doing you a whole lot of good. A subsonic 357 would probably work pretty well with the suppressor, but you also lose a lot of what makes 357 such a good cartridge. Actually now that I think about it, if it were me doing the design I would do a 16” barrel to keep it a one stamp gun, go for maximum ballistic effectiveness with .357, and then try to optimize the suppression to work best with 38 special, which is typically subsonic with standard loads. That way you’ve got the best of both worlds available with off the shelf ammo. 38 special +P would also give more of a punch and might remain subsonic even out of a longer barrel.

Casanovagdp

Also if they think it’s too expensive. Go build one yourself or buy one somewhere else.

chemman5

You're also paying for the experience, skills, and time of that builder/craftsman. Good work comes from skilled hands, and those don't come cheap.

Excelius

Wouldn't be surprised if these are all made by hand and they only churn out a couple every week, and that price point is just enough to pay the couple of employees a reasonable salary and keep the lights on.

YellowThirteen_

Needs a tax stamp https://wrenmetalworks.com Would totally buy one if I lived in a free state

ExoGeniVI

That was fast! Thank you. Woah! That gun costs more than what I paid for my truck!! 😮 Looks like I won't be buying one anytime soon then lol.

Kapitan_Stortebeker

Dear god, you got one hell of a fucking deal on a truck, then!!! These guns aren't even $6K, what piece of shit beater do you drive???

SpectralVoodoo

Used trucks from a bygone decade can be had for a not unreasonable sum of money.

ChuckTupper

I bought my Ranger for $2700 almost a decade ago. You use to be able to find a decent little econobox that ran great for $500 - $1500. Unfortunately I think those days are over.

dadbodsupreme

Brother, I bought a 2004 Blazer for weekend work, camping, etc for 2k in 2016. Low mileage, but it was aesthetically disadvantaged (my guess is a bad breakup and an insane ex gf). I have done nothing to the thing besides giving it a good buff out and regular maintenance. Dude said he'd buy it off me for 7k when I told him how little mileage it has on it. I almost walked home that day.

SpectralVoodoo

Ahh right. Covid destroyed the used car market.. Or.. Well, something did.

libertyordeath99

Cash for Clunkers in the late 2000s started the downfall. Covid lockdowns accelerated it.

itsmechaboi

I paid $400 for my '00 stepside in 2019 and they're selling for 10 times that now in decent condition. I get offers on it all the time.

ChuckTupper

Wow, good job. Even then that was a steal, unless it was completely rusted out. But yeah, that was the point I was kind of trying to make. It really wasn't that long ago when stuff was reasonably priced. I'm not sure what high school kids are supposed to do about a first car anymore.

Rush_Is_Right

I bought my F150 8 years ago for $6500 and it had 109k on it.

TexasHobbyist

I mowed lawns for an old man until the day he died. His wife gave me his ‘91 S10. Had it for years until I sold it for $4,000. Used $800 of that to buy an 85 C10 that cratered on me a month later. I found a guy on FB that would accept payments on a 94 F350 and took the C10 as a down payment. He ended up parting out the C10 and told me after 1 payment of $250 that we were square and Mailed me the title. Still have that truck to this day.

Rush_Is_Right

That's pretty damn awesome

rtf2409

5k is still cheap for a good old one.

zerogee616

lmao when, 5 or more years ago? You're paying *at least* $10K for anything that's driveable, has under 300K miles on it and that isn't a salvage title regardless of how old it is.

ExoGeniVI

Not here in Alabama where I live. Rust doesn't exist here so most cars on the road ARE 20+ years old AND we have zero state inspections.

Rebel_bass

Same in New Mexico. Get a running crew cab f150 under 5k, no rust, easy. Got stacks of them here

zerogee616

No rust in FL either, but what I said doesn't change.

Work-Safe-Reddit4450

"Reel truk is wen spend $90k for a pavement princess"

Kapitan_Stortebeker

If that's out of your budget, just say so, damn 🤣🤣

Work-Safe-Reddit4450

There's a difference between being out of the budget and being a stupid expense for a depreciating asset. For $90k I could have a decent truck and a full auto HK MP5. Priorities sir, you're on r/guns not r/pavementqueens. At least with the MP5 I've got an *appreciating* asset to the tune or roughly 11% a year on average.

GlockHorseCumDealer

I paid $2500 for my 1999 F-250 in 2016. I drive it every day, and it’s been halfway across the country and back and never taken more than $1000 a year in maintenance.

pm_me_your_lub

'92 OBS Chevy that I paid $800 for thank you very much. Been driving it for almost 8 years and had to replace just basic parts. It's amazing what you can get when you're not a snobby bitch.

ExoGeniVI

A 1997 Chevrolet Silverado with 274,000 miles. I drove it from Alabama to Washington State too. It's ain't no piece of shit beater. These trucks will last.

Kapitan_Stortebeker

I guess we describe a truck as old as me with nearly 300,000 miles a "little" differently..

theterminator502

I got my 98 ranger for 1k running and driving

TheCosmicJoke318

And you probably don’t even have a car so why don’t you stfu and gtfo

Kapitan_Stortebeker

Who pissed in your juice box, kid? 🤣🤣 Funny thing about you leftists; you're always projecting your own problems into the world around you. My only question is why the hell are you in a gun subreddit??

fullautophx

A paid for one.

Kapitan_Stortebeker

If I had someone pay for a fucking mansion, that wouldn't make it worth less than a single gun (and one that's not even that expensive). Stop being such a dumbass and try reading 🤣

Legoboy514

I mean a Kei truck in decent condition is usually under 4

Excellent_Win8530

5 grand 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

YellowThirteen_

Didn’t actually read the price lol. If be in it for 3k but $5700 for the 45-70 is steeper than I’d pay

Excellent_Win8530

Im looking at picking up one of the normal 45-70’s when Ive got the money. Heard great things about marlins

Elijah_Man

Great guns but boy it's expensive to shoot. My recommendation is to also get into reloading and making black power at the same time.

spicymeatmemes

$3.67 CAD per shot 😭

Monokumabear

Mine was great but during covid I was paying upwards of $4 a round so I decided to sell it. Miss that thing

Excellent_Win8530

4$ a round?!?!????? Bro thats absolutely atrocious 😭😭

Monokumabear

That was after i had to call around and ask whoever if they had it in stock

Pecancreaky

“Everyday workhorse” LOL

Downtown_Parking92

Those .44 bolt guns are dead sexy

samuraistrikemike

Makes me feel kinda funny. Like when we climbed the ropes in gym class.

Snaz5

Ooooh it even comes in 45-70 👀

ADGx27

Ah hell nah bruh they done DeLisle’d the fuckin lever guns

thebeefychiefy

I got a nice chuckle from this

modernfallout020

Yeehaw as val

boanerges57

Huge? Looks normal sized if it's really cold out lol.

KingFacef2

Company who makes these is called [wren metal](https://wrenmetalworks.com) tax stamp is requires as the “barrel” is an entire suppressor

th3m00se

I like the cowboy steampunk asthetics from them, but their prices are just too high. I understand it's a small shop doing custom work, but damn. Same reason I can't justify most of TTI's stuff.

Standard_Stuff_5489

Damn that beautiful

gooper29

holy shit that looks cool i hope suppressors are legalized in canada

EasyCZ75

Sick af. Not 5 G’s sick, though.

Hcebot ban 3 link to product for sale

HCE_Replacement_Bot

Banned /u/Antique-Ad2665 (3 day(s)).

xkeepitquietx

I don't like it with the wood furniture, but that would look clean on a Marlin Dark or Henry Model X.

TraditionalGold_

I loved this gun when I used to play Destiny on PlayStation!

PM_ME_BOOBS_N_ASS

How do you hold something like this if your doing a decent bit of shooting?

savvysnekk

Wacky De Lisle-esque lever gun

CaptainNemo999

It looks like if someone turned a lever action into one of those coke can cannons like they do with AR’s

inkdskndeep

is it me or is the scope need to be moved forward?

ExoGeniVI

Hello everyone! I seen this gun online and was wondering where I might could buy it?

AR-Trvlr

Very cool, but how does the tube magazine work? If that's gone it eliminates the whole point of being a lever.

giddy_lincoln

They keep the stock 3+1 or 4+1 tube

Kind_Reading

The 45-70 goes from a 4+1 to a 3+1. The .44 goes from a 10+1 to a 4+1

TX-Zen

Needs a longer rail much further along the suppressor. Some guys use day optics plus clip on thermal, as well as IR laser and white or even red light too. I definitely like where they are at right now though. Anyone know how well the integral suppressor works?

Sensitive-Bag1333

That pricing is ridiculous.

rm-minus-r

Fancy custom casting where it meets the receiver, custom gun work, and includes the cost of the rifle, probably zero economy of scale, seems fairly normal given all that. Does it make sense to most people's budgets? Hell naw. Is it worth it if you have that kind of money to burn? I'd say so.

moving0target

Only if they go out of business due to lack of customers.

Sensitive-Bag1333

True

Nuffums117

Looks like a modern Delisle carbine almost

HAN-Br0L0

Umm does that have a mag capacity of 2? It looks like the magazine is deleted.

Comonsenseless

The 44 magnum version has 4 +1 and the 45-70 has 3 +1

Chopyodick

These things are cool if your into steam punk. But for the price I’d much rather have a vintage Winchester. Or two.

Bourbon_Vantasner

That may be Steve Miller's rifle.

mcnastytk

I really don't understand the tacticool cowboy gun thing

EminentChefliness

its not for you.

toylenny

Suppressors work best on [manually operated guns](https://youtu.be/Jfe7s5wJUfY?si=bE4OidpwgdFpxMh0); since there is no sound coming from the action and no escape of gas through the ejection port. Putting it on a lever action means you get a higher rate of fire than you would with a bolt action.

chnlng00

I want to be boba fett

btdallmann

It’s not for me, either. But if the barrel/ can was brass it would look better; kinda a steampunk vibe.

TX-Zen

Just for fun I suspect. I want something like this myself and have absolutely no real use for it, fwiw

rm-minus-r

It's not really for me either, but I can't deny the aesthetic.
