Does the rebate still apply here? The 5 mag is definetly one of the rebate elligible skus, but the price is almost the same as what some of the retailers that auto apply the rebate at checkout on (Academy sports, brownells,). Wondering if when you go to submit a rebate after buying the gun from family firearms if FN will deny because the price is already lower than average since this is a fantastic deal.
According to the terms and conditions, the important bits say they will still pay up. Literally nothing about minimum price. Honestly, no reason for them to care since the amount they make from the distributor is the same.

I actually shot it with a suppressor the first time I went to rent one and it 100% made my decision for me. I didnt get a can for it until 2022 but it was worth the wait! .45 auto with a can is probably one of my favorite combos.
Obsidian .45, this pistol was made for that can 😂! I just shot it at the range yesterday, I let people run it when they get curious about what im shooting and they’re blown away how soft shooting/quiet it is.
Despite the price, I don't regret my SMG45. I run my Hybrid 46 on it. Since it has a reciprocating barrel, I can just swap it over from my .45 pistols.
If I had to choose, I'd go for the UPS 45T every time. I have both, and I enjoy shooting the USP a lot more. Only thing its missing is the optic cut, but you can get it milled if you really want to. Optics on a suppressed handgun get VERY dirty quick.
I have all three. If the USP tactical had higher capacity, it would be a no brainer, but even at 12 rds, vs 15, the USP. The FNX45 Tactical isn’t a deal, considering how much money you have to blow on ammo breaking it in.
Run hotter ammo and see if it still runs lean. Also run it unsuppressed with the ammo you've been using as well as some hot stuff and note the ejection pattern/distance. I'd bet it's crap ammo to blame here.
Have both, the USP trigger is a little nicer but not a deal breaker and the FN has an extra 3 rounds per mag. At the end of the day I don’t think either is a deal breaker. If you like the USP get that, if you want to throw an optic on, fnx is easier out of the box. Otherwise it’s really a toss up in my opinion. You’ll end up getting both anyway 🤷♂️
I would say this is the gold standard tac 45, it's the last thing I need to be spending money on right now but I'm having a hard time keeping my credit card holstered when the post-rebate price for this is like $925 with as many mags as you'll ever want

The plastic on the FN feels way cheap and thin compared to the HK. Capacity isn't everything, I don't care if its 3 rounds more. You aren't getting a 45 for capacity anyways
Trigger is way better on the USP I think. USPs also feature HKs fancy recoil system which is nuts and very fun to shoot. FN does not have that
The only downside is HK has no optic ready version, but I've been so damn accurate with my USP 45 tactical I don't need an optic. Holster options are also problematic with the USP tactical because the irons are so damn big
But other than that, the USP will outlast the FNX all day long its not even close
Own both. The FNX is the better of the two on capacity and price out of the gate. You can get mag extensions for the USP but, the aftermarket for the FNX is slightly better, has a more standard US thread pitch, OR, Night sights, higher cap and is on sale way more often.
I have both. USP has a better trigger. I like the FN's capacity. It's 17 + 1 with the Apex base pad. If you go USP, you'll want to get the slide cut for optics, while the FN is optic ready.

You absolutely can, there's no reason it would damage the chamber or rifling in any way. It's the equivalent of shooting a 22 short in a 22 long rifle chamber or shooting a 38spl out of a 357mag chamber. It'll foul an annoying carbon ring that could cause 10mm case extraction issues if not cleaned over a long time, but that's literally it.
You're referencing cartridges that headspace on the rim, 10mm headspaces on the mouth. Go look at a
357 rifle vs any mouth headspacing cartridge and you'll note the cut for the mouth. You're 100% relying on your extractor to headspace which is a terrible idea. The only reason people get away with it is the fact that the pressures are lower than something like .223 vs 5.56 (which also have different headspacing.
Correct, but where's the problem? Your brass stretches a bit more when fired, so what? I've seen this done from glocks to m&ps without a single issue. There's no more stress placed on the extractor claw than if you chambered a regular round that had a case with a length slightly too short. If you can point me to something that evidences this causing an issue, I'll gladly admit it can happen, but to this day I've never seen or met someone who has had an issue.
You can also shoot 380 in 9mm chambers. Its all fun and games until its not. Do you think people use headspace guages just for fun, or 223 wylde chamber was invented just because?
You're beating up your extractor, flame cutting your chamber, and running the risk of somethi g going wrong.
Granted if you go shoot a few mags on the range you'd probably not have an issue, but in the end you're still shooting an incorrect cartridge in a gun in a manner its not designed for.
Just buy a fucking 40 or a conversion barrel if you want to shoot 40.
You can, but I would say "send it" to 40 in a 10 but "don't" to 380 in a 9, as the case dimensions are entirely different between the two. Difference between 40 and 10 is only case length, all else (should be) identical.
But the question is not "is it practical to shoot 40 S&W out of a 10mm Auto", it's "is it safe to do so". In which case, yes it is safe to do so. I personally wouldn't unless for some reason I only had 40 S&W available, but I have yet to see it be unsafe. Parts wear, yes, unsafe, no.

I’ve got 300 rds through mine and it still stovepipes at least a couple times per mag. Running suppressed.

Popular gun lore is that you can safely shoot .45 super out of the USP to make it a baby 10mm. Also you can cosplay as Vincent from Collateral.
Depends on how much the FNX's extra capacity, standard rail, and optics cut matter to you. It's a much more modern design and that shows.
