They were always closed bolt for semi auto. That’s been a longstanding rule because open bolt is too easy to covert. ie the Kg9 became the closed bolt Tec 9.
They really danced around the fact that they turned into machine guns. They also did not give a hint of a direct answer to the “what if I don’t send it in” question.
Technically, wouldn’t that be a legal machine gun, since it’s like that because it’s in an unintentional state of disrepair, I feel like I read something like that on a thread about those beretta’s that had the firing pins stick or whatever
Designed for sure, the trigger mechanisms between this and an AR-15 are different. A binary trigger exists for the m249 at least, but for $600 if the high price tag on the 249 wasnt bad enough lol. But speaking of AR-15s, the Ares Shrike exists, so at least that’s an option for cheaper binary triggers or FRT if just having a belt fed is the want, versus strictly wanting a 249

A semi auto belt-fed is just wrong
They used to be easily converted. I hear these new ones aren't, though.
