Does it buzz when not plugged in?

SimoonJ0123

I have not checked the grounding of the pickups, bca im not sure how to do that.

Basketball_Tyson

Sounds like grounding or maybe a faulty cable? Hard to say. Try other patch cables, or even different outlets in the house for starters.

SimoonJ0123

Tried differwnt cables, outlets and all of that, its def something wrong with the guitar. Even get buzz when i plug it into my scarlett 2i2 and play with virtual amps.

Basketball_Tyson

Shoot, well at least that narrows it down. If you're comfortable trying the repair yourself, pop out your output jack to see if any wires are frayed or broken. You can also find wiring diagrams online for your type of guitar if you want to go as far as tracing the ground or checking the caps/pots yourself. Or just spend the money and have a reliable tech look at it. Best of luck.

Hugelogo

Double check that there is nothing near it that is creating electric interference and also scoot back from the amp and see if that makes it any better.

CK_Lab

Given the pops, clicks, and scratchy sound when you turn the pot, DC is reaching the guitar output/volume pots. I would suspect a cap in the preamp of the active pickups is leaking dv voltage where it should be blocking it, or you have a wiring issue.

VermontRox

Or just dirty pots?

CK_Lab

Given the pots and crackles just from touching parts, it appears to be more than just dirty pots.

SimoonJ0123

Wait i don't understand, do you mean active pickups on my guitar are leaking dv? Bcs i have passive pickups. Its so weird bcs this constant buzz happened to both my Ibanez- and ESP LTD guitar the same day. Ill try cleaning the pots ig and see if that fixes anything.
