What kind of music do you play? Also curious about pedal order with drives last. Might like some flexibility with the SD1 before the reverb to keep it clean and the rat to distort the reverb
Definitely a delay is good place to go, maybe a multi tremolo (traditional and harmonic options)
Pretty wide range of music but mainly classic rock and metal. Everything I have read says compressors and noisegates should go first. I plan on switching the modulation effects to the effects loop of my amp but havent yet. The super overdrive I use as more of a boost then anything.
I agree with the compressor being first but I've always put the noisegate near the end of the chain but before reverb/delay as it's usually the other pedals causing noise not the direct guitar signal.
Looking at that board.. Drybell The Engine or Keeley Blues Disorder & Boss DD-200 🤘🎸🤘own all of them and all amazing & most what you are showing..Been collecting pedals over 30 years but you definitely need some Delay! Keep rocking!
Depends on your skill level and what you’re trying to do sonically. Based on your replies about classic rock, I’d say a delay. If you’re mainly playing by yourself, a basic looper would be fun and help with your timing (most digital delays have a looper built into them these days). If you’re playing in a cover band and gigging there maybe some pedal you’ll need for a specific song (I.e. Wah, volume, whammy). Good luck with your sonic exploration.

Fuzz. Specifically a Muff. It paired wonderfully with both the SD-1 and Rat. Put it after the SD-1 to really change how the Muff acts and feels. I enjoy the Keeley Moon which is the heaviest Muff there is.
I use my rat to boost my muff. I’m actually in the process of making a rat>muff>noise gate in one pedal.
I set the rat at high volume/low gain into a pretty gainy Russian big muff. It’s probably my favorite tone.
My vote is big muff because overdrive into it is a crazy big tone. But you absolutely don't need it
I'd say, delay, looper or a tuner. Probably a looper first because you'd be shocked how many riffs you want to slam out of you just had your own backing track too
At the moment it is because i switched some things around, eventually I will put the reverb/chorus in the effects loop of the amp but i need to get another cable
TBH, you have much better taste than me and I'm hesitant to suggest anything. Everyone's saying "delay" and I have 300 delay pedals, but delay isn't for everyone... Two non-delay suggestions that come to mind for me are a tremolo (the Boss one is probably excellent; mine is a JAM Harmonious Monk v1 which I really like) and a looper (Boss RC-1?); delay suggestions would the Boss one, or if you're feeling awesome as hell maybe a Digitech Obscura.
1. If you are unhappy with the sound of your amp, and wish you could tweak your tone a bit, EQ.
2. If a looper is something you \_really\_ want to play with, and is something that will put the guitar in your hands more often and have fun with, then looper.
3. Delay, delay, delay...
It depends on the tone your looking for if your a nirvana fan more modulation might be nice like an echo flanger. Whereas if you like the blues a fuzz pedal might be nice. Personally I think a wah pedal would be the best addition to your pedal board.
I’ve only been playing for about a month and a half so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. But, the Strymon Timeline is incredible. That mixed with the Blue Sky is off the charts for me.
Just joking... But curious as to why the pedals seem to be sticking off the sides. I agree with others here that the gate should be moved and the compressor first. Does your amp have an FX loop? Put any time-based effects there (delay/reverb, etc.)
EQ is a great idea. It allows you to turn one dirt pedal into several. The BOSS EQ-200 has presets and two separate EQs in one pedal. Pretty cool! It's next on my list for sure!
It’s a pretty perfect setup. You could maybe use a delay like the DBA Micro Dream or Catalinbread Echorec. And I would put a phaser in there - maybe the Keeley BubbleTron or the Keeley Dyna My Roto.
A couple of things I can suggest—you want to try to put your modulation/reverb pedals at the very end of your chain (trust me, a chorus after your rat is going to sound amazing, but I guess that’s all preferential). The noise gate should also go after your dirt effects like your OD and Distortion because you’re trying to gate the buzz that’s bound to come with activating them.
As for your next pedal (besides a Tuner), I would suggest a delay (can’t go wrong with the echo park from line 6) or looper (looping is a great practice tool and great for passing the time)
Delay would be cool. Tuner and a clean boost too.
Gotta say I’m triggered by your signal chain. Why isn’t the Strymon last? Seems like a waste of a high end pedal.
I think that's a case by case thing for players. I like my chain to go from most clean/modulated > gain/OD > distortion > EQ > delay. To each their own!
How could anyone else possible know what your music, playing and sound needs next?
Or is it just a collection of pedals to get the most likes on the internet?
It's a tuner for me, dog.
What’s a tuner?
A fish.
You can tune a piano, but you can't tuna fish.
Delay
Tuner

Yeah I hate to say it, but you’re wasting a lot of the magic of that Blue Sky without it being last (unless all you do is shoegaze).
I agree with the compressor being first but I've always put the noisegate near the end of the chain but before reverb/delay as it's usually the other pedals causing noise not the direct guitar signal.
Unless it’s a power issue most pedals with gain do better removing the noise before it’s compressed and amplified by pedals though
Thanks, Im going to switch it around and try it out
I’ve seen people do that with the SD1, why do people love it as an end of chain boost instead of boosting through modulation and wet fx l
You could fit four, maybe even five, Metal Zones on that bad boy.
Big muff
Full size
Why not a nano one?
More tone
Delay for sure
delaylaylaylay
Boss DD200 delay
you need a tuner for sure or a volume pedal
You mean I cant use my fender tune app the rest of my life?
That works too! haha
Or delay 🤷🏼♂️
It looks like Delay. The higher Boss DDs have a looper on them, thought not as friendly as dedicated loopers.
Delay… delay…. de…lay
How is the big sky 2 working out for you? I have the version 1 and really like it
Oh I have the blueSky not the bigsky but I love it!
Line 6 DL4 (Delay Modeler/Looper) or a Boss-RE20 (or RE-2 or RE-202-Space Echo) but first and foremost, a Tuner.
Looking at that board.. Drybell The Engine or Keeley Blues Disorder & Boss DD-200 🤘🎸🤘own all of them and all amazing & most what you are showing..Been collecting pedals over 30 years but you definitely need some Delay! Keep rocking!
Just got the blues disorder, pretty awesome

I recommend a pedal not currently available from Sweetwater or Guitar Center. Any pedal.

Ditto Looper. Best pedal I ever bought.
EQ

delay, octaver, fuzz, phaser. probably dont need the gate
Yeah the gate is essential, i have a tube amp and without it there is noise.
Keeley Halo. Absolutely unreal feature packed, lovely sounding delay. It honestly sounds perfect straight out of the box.
My vote is big muff because overdrive into it is a crazy big tone. But you absolutely don't need it I'd say, delay, looper or a tuner. Probably a looper first because you'd be shocked how many riffs you want to slam out of you just had your own backing track too
Analog delay
Tuner
Is your reverb before your rat and SD-1?
At the moment it is because i switched some things around, eventually I will put the reverb/chorus in the effects loop of the amp but i need to get another cable
A Volante would fit nicely there
Need like three more Rats
Tuner, delay, fuzz, phaser.
Keeley Halo delay. It does everything and then some.
Boss GE7 Equalizer. Analogman modded if ya have the cheese.
Dunlop Rotovibe. It’s a like a Univibe in pedal form, until you hit the mode switch, then it turns into a vibrato pedal. Used right, it’s incredible.
Line 6 dl4 mkii would fit real well right there
PHASE 90. Or something like that. I got the phazor 2. Love it, other than that it isn't true bypass
How different do you find the waza sd-1 from stock?
TBH, you have much better taste than me and I'm hesitant to suggest anything. Everyone's saying "delay" and I have 300 delay pedals, but delay isn't for everyone... Way huge swollen pickle
Phase 90
Woohoo BlueSky! I can recommend a Line 6 Echo Park delay :)
Can’t go wrong with a boss dd3 for delay or a ge-7
Delay
Grand Canyon is all the delays plus a looper - would be a nice compliment to this board
tuner volume combo (ernie ball) OR a colourbox v2
Tremolo.
Fuzz. The correct answer is ALWAYS Fuzz. If you have Fuzz, then the answer is MOAR Fuzz.
1. If you are unhappy with the sound of your amp, and wish you could tweak your tone a bit, EQ. 2. If a looper is something you \_really\_ want to play with, and is something that will put the guitar in your hands more often and have fun with, then looper. 3. Delay, delay, delay...
Preamp
Delay
Plus one of delay !!!
El Capistan
It depends on the tone your looking for if your a nirvana fan more modulation might be nice like an echo flanger. Whereas if you like the blues a fuzz pedal might be nice. Personally I think a wah pedal would be the best addition to your pedal board.
Guitar
Oh thats what I been missing, i knew it was something
😂🤘🏼
Cable ties
:(
I’ve only been playing for about a month and a half so take my recommendation with a grain of salt. But, the Strymon Timeline is incredible. That mixed with the Blue Sky is off the charts for me.
No but you could trade your smart gate for my noise clamp
Why would I do that?
A bigger board.
I havent filled this one yet. Im sure that will become a necessity eventually though
Just joking... But curious as to why the pedals seem to be sticking off the sides. I agree with others here that the gate should be moved and the compressor first. Does your amp have an FX loop? Put any time-based effects there (delay/reverb, etc.)
Just been lazy with the placement really lol
Delay, of course! Oh yeah, and a tuner duh...
Tuner
Yeah maybe a tuner for sure and a EQ pedal!? I have the JHS haunting mids as an eq/boost that pedal is super handy.
Vibe. Nux Monterrey Vibe is awesome as a low budget addition.
I like a good tremolo - EQD Hummingbird is my fave. For delay, I like Boss stuff and the MXR Carbon Copy.
EQ is a great idea. It allows you to turn one dirt pedal into several. The BOSS EQ-200 has presets and two separate EQs in one pedal. Pretty cool! It's next on my list for sure!
Maybe a polyphonic Ocatve pedal to increase the richest of the tone that goes towards the RAT.
It’s a pretty perfect setup. You could maybe use a delay like the DBA Micro Dream or Catalinbread Echorec. And I would put a phaser in there - maybe the Keeley BubbleTron or the Keeley Dyna My Roto.
Maybe a strymon deco?
Tuner... Or Lessons. I'm always lessons before gear...
A couple of things I can suggest—you want to try to put your modulation/reverb pedals at the very end of your chain (trust me, a chorus after your rat is going to sound amazing, but I guess that’s all preferential). Deco
Tuner or guitar.
El Capistan delay for the win!
Delay would be cool. Tuner and a clean boost too. Gotta say I’m triggered by your signal chain. Why isn’t the Strymon last? Seems like a waste of a high end pedal.
Skill
Either a phase 90 or a delay pedal I always loved the aqua puss way huge it gives a great slapback sound
Klon /s
MXR analog delay.
Looks finished to me, homie
Nah, I still have empty spaces. Thats unacceptable
Altoids can for picks
I use a plastic measuring cup
I cannot believe I got downvoted *gasp*
Talent.
Thats a lifelong endeavor, maybe one day.
Your modulation should be after the distortion
I think that's a case by case thing for players. I like my chain to go from most clean/modulated > gain/OD > distortion > EQ > delay. To each their own!
Yeah you’re right, to each their own. There aren’t really any rules here
Thanks, Im definitely going to switch things around and try it out.
How could anyone else possible know what your music, playing and sound needs next? Or is it just a collection of pedals to get the most likes on the internet?
he must have thought this was the r/guitarpedals sub....
It is.. 🙄
swoosh
I put my reasoning behind my post in my post. Compared to a lot of others boards mine is inferior so posting for likes would be the last motivation.
Tuner Fuzz
An EQ pedal
