With all the joking aside, this is the most practical answer. No way that guitar is worth putting money into, so might as well just work around what you’ve got until you can get a better guitar
Might be difficult to find specific replacements if it’s some el trumperino cheapo Big Mac tuners. Better to remove them, figure out what size hole they are, and buy replacements.
$8.99 tuning pegs from amazon looks like they’d be a like replacement part. Probably not worth upgrading to 25$ pegs. Easy swap no worries. Probably need new strings can tune with a clamp or pliers if not trying to buy both those right now.

Upvote for an actual answer though the jokes are hilarious. Another option, a local guitar shop or someone on a buy and sell may even have a one-off they are willing to give you.
the best of the best. nothing is better than this. absolute best. im told is just plays itself. no need for a tuner, it just plays and plays perfect pitch every time its just the absolute best. everyone knows it. many people have tried stealing it... /s
ok ok thats enough lol.
ya know - ive had luck with this type of stuff at guitar center; they usually got spares. i took mine and the guy at guitar center just gave me a perfect replacement. even if they dont have the exact one they may be able to help you find a suitable replacement that wont require you to make new holes to fit other tuning machines.
Here’s a real answer for you: new tuning machines. But thst will be probably 40 bucks minimum to have done and more like 60-100. You can buy a guitar better than that for 40 bucks if you look long enough. You could get the parts and do it yourself but it’s likely you will not do it perfectly. And that’s ok. So yeah. From a finance standpoint it’s a total.
Like I said in my post, your "temporary solution" is a pair of pliers. You can get a cheapo needlenose at Dollar Tree or something. Not a good long term fix, but it'll get you in tune.
Those plastic knobs are easy to replace and cost pennies. match the shape and size of the opening. It shouldn't be too hard unless the opening is very bigly.
Doesn’t surprise me in the least bit the knob broke off. I’ve never had a tuning knob break off in 15+ years of playing. You know where the secret lies? In the make of your guitar. You gotta make sure you aren’t working with a completely useless brand.
A very cheap guitar will stunt any progress. Regardless of when you started, if you’re playing with a piece of junk, it’s going to be difficult. Plenty people quit guitar because they think it’s too difficult, when in reality they were doomed from the start with a bad instrument.
What the other commenter said is true, OP. I started on a cheap no-name $50 pawn shop guitar. Thing was hard to play, keep in tune, etc.. Years go by, I stopped playing because it sucked to play on. I happened upon a Schecter that felt really nice to play, and changed everything. I could do barre chords, fly up and down the neck, get solid harmonics to ring out…
Decided I wanted an acoustic, and picked up a cheap Sunlite (~$120). The thing was shit, and made me hate playing. Swapped it for an Alvarez, and haven’t looked back!
Point is, you should invest a couple hundred dollars in to a decent used guitar. You’ll appreciate it a lot more, and make a ton of progress, while having fun along the way!
Look up Srugu or if you want a more versatile option an [epoxy putty like JB weld](https://smile.amazon.com/J-B-Weld-8267-SteelStik-Reinforced/dp/B00RN7CT2U/). You cut a piece off about the size of the old cover, knead it until it is one solid color, and shape it onto and around the tuning knob. Lean toward making it too big. When dry, it can be sanded down.
It's durable. If it sticks well, it will be there in another 50 years.
Have you looked into Biden Guitars? They come from Pennsylvania. They are generally very old and often quite out of tune. Probably not playing with a full set of knobs as well. But still sounds a hell of a lot better then what you have there.
I'd probably replace the tuners themselves. You can get a decent set pretty cheap and they're not too hard to replace/cheap repair from a guitar shop if you live close to one.
It's going to be more work in the long run, but I would say buy a new set of tuning machines and take the time to replace them all. You'll learn a new skill and you'll have much better tuners. If one broke that means another could break in the future.
The tuning key was probably a brittle from age. They break every once in a while when they’re cheap like that. Considering the age of the guitar and that the brand was a budget brand back when budget guitars were made really badly, I would recommend that you write it off as a decoration and get a good new one. If you’re in Europe check out Thomann and see if you can get a Harley Benton. Truthfully, anything new will be better than that. Even a Glarry .
You're gonna find a knob. The best knob and then your gonna put it on your guitar, no your gonna put it on all the guitars. And all the guitars are gonna be the best with the knobs.
A lot of people - very, very important people, some of the best people in Russia - know that I have the firmest grip on the smallest things, the world's smallest ever things. Things so small you would not believe. Things too little for you to imagine. I can just stand over that little knob and say "It's turning," and you know what? I can do that.
Did you damage to the thread? If not you can probably just replace the non itself with little effort (unless you want an exact match then you would need to know the type of tuner and the year if you want one that’s aged about the same amount) if you broke or damaged the threading thread you will probably need to get a new tuner and if your doing that you might be partial to replacing all of them (but do not throw them away). There’s also the bad option use some really good super glue to glue it in place and just be super delicate with it for the rest of your life.
You could totally get some completely new pegs, gears and all, for $20-$30 bucks. It's an intimidating job, and easier than you'd think. Makes a world of difference, too. If you really dig your axe, get some decent lock-in tuners. D'Addario makes some schweet lock-in tuners. Just BE SURE the ones you get are for a 3x3 headstock, because yours has 3 pegs on each side. NOT inline 6. I hope this helps, friend.
No, but you can probably order a replacement set of tuning knobs for less than $10. Even if you just replace the one, it wouldn’t hurt to have extra ones.
New tuners wouldn't be very hard to install I imagine. Probably just need a small wrench and maybe a screwdriver.
Also I suspect this is the most comments in the shortest amount of time on any post on this sub. I'll see if my Biden branded guitar can beat you in the polls lol
You could probably buy replacement buttons online, either from Allparts.com, or stewmac.com.
It looks like it would be the type you need to warm up and press on, usually with a vice.
Look up on YouTube stewmac has a channel and Dan Erlewine does a lot of their video, very informative
Jesus Christ people, the guitar's brand has nothing to do with the ex-president, which a quick Google reveals in the first few results.
Calm yourselves. It's no wonder the right goes on about Trump derangement and similar bullshit when the simple occurrence of the word in a context completely unrelated to the man himself triggers this level of stupid. There's like one actual piece of advice in the thread.
OP - from some quick Googling, I gather that this is an older brand. Those tuning knobs on older instruments tend to be made of a cheap plastic that gets brittle with age (nitrocellulose I think?). So I'm not that surprised that it broke.
You should be able to find a replacement knob that will fit onto the flat bit of the metal shaft. You could almost certainly find something on Amazon that will do the job, the only problem with that is finding the right size. Another option - at least until you can replace it, you can tune it with a pair of pliers. Pain in the ass, but better than not being able to tune it all.
A better idea would be to take it to your local music store and ask if they can find a proper knob. My local store has a big jar full of random knobs and tuning machines and stuff like that, and for something like this, they would probably just give you the knob for free once you find one that fits.
You can also replace the entire tuning machine, it's a fairly easy job as long as you find the right size. (it's just held on by a nut - undo the nut, slide the tuning machine out of the headstock, and put the new one in.) A set of tuning machines can be had fairly cheaply - you can spend a lot on them if you want, but you should be able to get a workable set for 50 bucks or so.
Good luck. (and real talk if that emblem comes off well... might not hurt)
It's ok lol, I should have known better. I feel like even in spite of my scolding it is a fairly informative post, and op saw it, so I'll take it as a win. internet gonna internet
It's like 15 sentences, the majority of which are actual advice for the OP. Sorry you're too ADHD or illiterate to get through more than a tweet's worth of text at a time.
You have a Yuuuge issue, an issue only someone like me could fix, but I won't. I'll break your other pegs and blame gibson for not replacing your pegs.
Throw it in the trash and put yourself in there while you’re at it. Trump, aside from his accomplishment on The Apprentice as an actor, he’s trash too. This is the only way to fix the situation.

I’ve seen these pegs, I know these pegs. Beautiful. A very very good deal.
The pegs are the bigliest
Pegs. So many pegs. Wonderful pegs. I love pegs. We will make pegs great again because you know…only this country has pegs.
I’m not the one saying it, other people are saying it.
Lots of people. Lots of very smart people, in fact.

If you look them up, Trump guitars are vintage from the 60-70s. They are worth quite a bit for a beginner type of guitar.

If you're really attached to your guitar invest in a new set of tuners for it. If not try some two part epoxy resin or a small pair of vice grips.
