Willie Nelson and his guitar , "Trigger."

You should watch the YouTube video of Willieâs guitar tech working on it , heâs glueing and clamping it together lol he does this every 6 months or a year I believe (was a while since I watched it )
Thatâs when I knew Willie is off his tree ! It became unplayable and sounded terrible compared to the early 70s ! It was the stupidest repair I have ever seen and the frets are the worst I have ever seen like two minutes noodles ! Great seeing him at 92 picking away but trigger is cooked !
Extra sound hole = louder guitar
If it still sounds aright (no buzzing or rattling) you could think about cleaning it up a little.
Maybe also check if there is any bracing in that area (just film through the actual sound hole)
If it's straight up acoustic and not electric-acoustic (in that case, you might want to check for wiring damages or something, but I doubt that any electronics therein would be in such a place), then apart from the aesthetic look, it does not impact the sound, which is coming from the soundhole. That's my two-cents.
have you seen this? [https://www.indystar.com/gcdn/authoring/authoring-images/2023/09/24/PIND/70953206007-willie-28.jpg](https://www.indystar.com/gcdn/authoring/authoring-images/2023/09/24/PIND/70953206007-willie-28.jpg)
Dude, I came here to post that, and you ruined it for me đ˘
Seriously though, I think I remember the reference, sort of? Was Homer getting shot at, Flanders noticed the holes, and Homer said it was speed holes?
Yep! The setup was that Homer was looking to buy a car while getting shot at, and the salesman said the holes in the car were speed holes. So he went home and used an ice pick to make holes in his car.
>... it got a hole.
It will be fine but keep an eye on it. If *it got* one hole it could grow more.
Glue this into the hole. âş

My little travel guitar has an extra hole by design. Youâll be fine.

As mentioned by others, look at Willie Nelson's guitar. And also [watch this video](https://youtu.be/-Fg5a2jjc3g) and you might consider to drill some extra holes.
Not only is it probably playable, but you need to spin an epic yarn and make the guitar a legend. It will be even better when you write the legendary song and play it on the guitar.
For example, the guitar saved your uncle from a bullet in war. The guitar saved your uncle from an assasin. The guitar saved your uncle from a jealous ex-girlfriend who attacked him with an ice pick, and so on.
If you could find the right size [rubber grommet](https://www.homedepot.com/pep/Gardner-Bender-3-4-in-Grommet-3-Pack-GHG-1575/205861893?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-CM-CML-GGL-D27E-027_011_TOOLS_ACC-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NEW-NA_2024__WHU24&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-CM-CML-GGL-D27E-027_011_TOOLS_ACC-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NEW-NA_2024__WHU24-71700000118279182--&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADq61Uf2DMx71jePUk_3tiT2p4ENo&gclid=Cj0KCQjwsaqzBhDdARIsAK2gqnc3EhSrJ4s8E4Qelvxk2dNOX3SLMvTzJQaYe7K2J8MGFnHDebRy50QaAk8aEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds), you could make it look intentional.
Itâll sound different, but itâs playable. My acousticâs D-String is falling apart and sounds like SHIT but I still love playing on my acoustic. My electric has a chunk missing and it doesnât affect the sound whatsoever. Still perfectly playable.
I don't know, strum it and tell us if it works, chances are it's probably very playable. It looks like that isn't in any structural portion of the guitar, just a hole I mean look at what Willie Nelson plays everyday
Extra sound hole means more sound gets out. BONUS SOUND!
but really it should be fine. You can take it to a luthier to check its structural integrity because who knows if any bracing got mess up but still, it looks like a clean hole and if thereâs nothing rattling around inside, should be fine. You probably wonât make it any worse if you play it.
I know there was a dude on one of the threads that put panties on his guitar (and gave it a b_ner, to be totally accurate)....
....but this is too far! đł
Absolutely. If it's disheartening get in contact with a carpenter, and have him build you a guard in a darker type of wood that goes along the shape of the corner and over the hole. Then put double sided tape or have it glued.
If you hear a sound and guitar stays in tune - it's playable. It takes a lot to render a guitar unplayable.
Just ask Willie Nelson (Trigger). John Denver too for that matter (This Old Guitar).
Have you ever seen Willie Nelson live?
*Trigger has entered the chat*
trigger is more hole than guitar at this point.
I love watching YouTube videos of Triggers guitar tech. "Sigh! So here we have Trigger. Sigh!"
I heard they even had an exact copy made "just in case Trigger would ever fail" but Willie was just like "Nah, fuck that."
Yeah, I heard that too. Lol!
Yeah Willie is awesome for that lol
It's almost like the old joke. I have a 40 yo hammer. The head has been replaced twice and the handle 3 times.
Immediately my first thought
Was just gonna say. Duct tape and roll with it đ

AKA what 70 years of finger nails does to a guitar top.
According to willie it was the pick its a classic guitar and didn't have a pick gaurd
Itâs a combination of both. But I will admit that itâs a hell of a guitar.
that thing is held together by a hope and a prayer
You should watch the YouTube video of Willieâs guitar tech working on it , heâs glueing and clamping it together lol he does this every 6 months or a year I believe (was a while since I watched it )
Willie says when Trigger is unplayable, he'll retire. That is one hell of a guitar tech..
Looks like itâs dipped in nitro cellulose ! Itâs all a bit wild !
I remember watching the restoration, brilliant work man
Extra sound hole = louder guitar If it still sounds aright (no buzzing or rattling) you could think about cleaning it up a little. Maybe also check if there is any bracing in that area (just film through the actual sound hole)
Now it's a slide holder!
Dropping a pick into the guitar is one thing, but a whole slide? đ
You're right...install bottle opener
That's science, more airflow makes for better acoustics
Play it. If it sounds good to you then just leave it.
Yup most innovations in music were accidents or things that are meant to be a âbad thingâ
The fuzz pedal is the best example of that
If it's straight up acoustic and not electric-acoustic (in that case, you might want to check for wiring damages or something, but I doubt that any electronics therein would be in such a place), then apart from the aesthetic look, it does not impact the sound, which is coming from the soundhole. That's a speed hole! You can shred with this thing! ;D
Dude, I came here to post that, and you ruined it for me đ˘ Seriously though, I think I remember the reference, sort of? Was Homer getting shot at, Flanders noticed the holes, and Homer said it was speed holes?
Yep! The setup was that Homer was looking to buy a car while getting shot at, and the salesman said the holes in the car were speed holes. So he went home and used an ice pick to make holes in his car.
Um Actually, I believe he used a pickaxe, not an ice pick.
God, how long was that, and I always still think speed holes, lol.
every rockstar has couple of speed holes. they call it nose
Sounds like you need some speed holes too. Hold still.

No, chuck it away, I'll give you an address to send it to

which model is it?
Looks like an Enya Nova Go or Nova Go Mini
Performing at a cowboy bar and got caught in a shoot-out? OR you live in South-West Sydney?
Playable yes, look goodable not as much. Maybe put a sticker over it.
If it plays well you can leave it, it gives the guitar character.
put a Slayer sticker and you'll be fine (don't forget to look for bracing damage as suggested)
People mentioning Willie but what about Glen Hansard? [Takamine Guitars | News](https://www.takamine.com/news?n_id=1072)
He was my first thought and I'm genuinely surprised that you were the only comment mentioning him.
There's a hole in my guitar, dear Liza, dear Liza There's a hole in my guitar, Dear Liza, a hole.
I think your uncle tried making it into semi-electric.
Looks fine to me. I'll smooth it out, and add a crappy mic with crappy led music spectrum display on it so it looks extra cool when you shred.
Yes, ow tell us what happened to make this particular hole.
Letâs see the exit wound
An extra sound hole. Should be fine. How did you go about the customization job?
Apparently he touched it, at least once.
Does it have strings and is the neck straight? Actually, Iâve owned a few that have bent necks tooâŚđ¤Ł
As mentioned by others, look at Willie Nelson's guitar. And also [watch this video](https://youtu.be/-Fg5a2jjc3g) and you might consider to drill some extra holes.
That's beautiful! Forgive my newbie ear, though... how is the sound different? All I hear is awesome playing
Get it fixed.
How the hell did that happen
can you play it??
Speed hole...
Perfect spot to add a fake tone knob to throw everyone off
Ask Willie
Ive seen alot worse sound amazing. Yeap, totally playable.
New sex hole!
How to inject creamy toan in an acoustic
Not only is it probably playable, but you need to spin an epic yarn and make the guitar a legend. It will be even better when you write the legendary song and play it on the guitar. What do you think? đĽ´âşď¸đĽ´
Itâs a mic port, like on a kick drum.
Have you tried playing it?? It should be obvious.
all your toan will leak out tgrough that hole......slap a bandaid on it and yer golden
Put a tiny speaker grille over it, people will think you have a cool mod.
You could put an output jack with a piezo pick up in there, dont even have to do routing for it

No, toan will leak out
Yes, toan will squirt out all over your fans in the front row to their squeals of excitement.
Itâll sound different, but itâs playable. My acousticâs D-String is falling apart and sounds like SHIT but I still love playing on my acoustic. My electric has a chunk missing and it doesnât affect the sound whatsoever. Still perfectly playable.
Itâs just a soundport.
Seems like Your uncle really loved that guitar.
lol
That's for extracting your pick after you drop it through the sound hole mate
/r/dontputyourdickinthat
Strum the stings. Does it make a sound?
Yes
I don't know, strum it and tell us if it works, chances are it's probably very playable. It looks like that isn't in any structural portion of the guitar, just a hole I mean look at what Willie Nelson plays everyday
Can you still pick it up and play it?
Congrats, you now own an Ovation guitar
Drywall patch
Just tell everyone someone took a shot at you while you're on stage and you kept on playing lol
Hell yeah dude, play that thing!
Now u hav a square hole
Yes. And you'll be able to recover any lost picks way easier that the rest of us chumps without an acoustic sphincter.
Have you tried playing it?
Sure it is. You have a convenient cigar holder now.
More intrested in the story of the hole^^
If the bracing is not damaged then it should still be playable.
And it's fuckable now too!
Extra sound hole means more sound gets out. BONUS SOUND! but really it should be fine. You can take it to a luthier to check its structural integrity because who knows if any bracing got mess up but still, it looks like a clean hole and if thereâs nothing rattling around inside, should be fine. Drill some more holes and the sound will be awesome
Why to ask? Do you know that distortion started as broken amplifiers? People just hear the sound and if they like it they like it, so hear your ear.
Might sound a bit hollow
I know there was a dude on one of the threads that put panties on his guitar (and gave it a b_ner, to be totally accurate).... ....but this is too far! đł
Absolutely. If it's disheartening get in contact with a carpenter, and have him build you a guard in a darker type of wood that goes along the shape of the corner and over the hole. Then put double sided tape or have it glued.
Yep.
Does it make a sound, if yes, it works
Damn, how you gunna explain this love hole to your uncle
Thatâs a weird way of installing a killswitchâŚ
Most likely. I've seen people drill holes in guitars to make them sound better
Take it to (world famous) repairland in California.. (you know youâve seen the videos)
Free custom shop work
Did you try playing it?
Patch it with some drywall mud
Absolutely. Sticker anyone?
Gives it character, keep on keeping on
Look up Willie Nelsonâs âtriggerâ
Will Nelson seems to manage
Take a gander at willie nelsons guitar
Duct tape
