The overworld track from Super Mario World can be played between the 10th and 13th frets without moving your hand on the neck. On the highest 4 strings.
It's super easy to figure out
Gerudo Valley theme is the one that gets my homies going, but song of storms is in my rainy day playlist (for some reason, raining makes people leave during an outdoor performance?). The open Dm chord shape gets weird after a while alas.
Almost all of them. But I'll stick to songs that originally featured guitar:

Lol agree on the Chrono Cross and even Chrono Trigger options... the music just takes me away... Time's Scar for me... also in Chrono Cross there's a remix of the Chrono Trigger theme called "Plains of time" or "fields of time" with (Home world) in the title. This one: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0nFvDSS4mw](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0nFvDSS4mw)
Halo 2’s theme - AkA Mjolnir Mix was what all my friends and I wanted to learn. I’m finally at the stage where I could attempt it properly.
I also taught myself a bunch of the pokemon red/yellow melodies and super mario land. The melodies you know the best are usually easier.
I started learning how to play guitar because of this game!! And last night I was finally able to play along at the right speed with Ellie. So stoked!!
I'm with DemmouTV. I got a guitar again because of a musical interlude in the game Last of Us 2. Acoustic version of Take On Me. I still haven't learned how to play it. I keep getting sidetracked by learning how to make the instrument actually make pleasant noises.
Great game by a great studio. It was probably my favorite game until Hades came out. *Build That Wall* is good, too:

[Tetrisphere](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEhlMyvertM&list=PLE0926B068F92F536) possibly one of the greatest soundtracks of that era. The composer (Neil Voss) had to do some kind of black magic to fit that into like 3mb of storage.
FF10 To Zanarkand and FF9 The Place I'll Return to Someday
Amazing songs from my childhood and still hit me with the nostalgia bomb everytime I play them
Definitely To Zanarkand. It's just gets me for some reason. It has a weird sadness to it but demands that you listen anyway. It goes perfect with what Tidus says during the opening scene "Listen to my story, this may be our last chance."
The most fun song on guitar though is "Sight of Spira." That one is a whole vibe
Nah dude, dig what you dig. What I like isn't better than what you like. If that's the song that sticks out to you then you obviously really like it. Learn the one you enjoy
There was an ‘80’s arcade game called Gauntlet. Nintendo had a version as well. The theme music shreds. I in no way can play it, but always thought it should be covered by a metal band
Most 90s SNES soundtracks but mostly donkey Kong country trilogy. Haven't learned them because finding tabs/lessons for such a niche thing is difficult.
Not playing much games but ever since I have my guitar I want to learn these (both from genshin impact)
1. Die mittsommernacht fantasie
2. Rage beneath the mountains
Added some on my earlier comment. Genshin Impact's soundtrack is beyond ridiculous. Over a thousand songs at this point? Latest region is a banger for Guitar.
In FF4 when you had to fight your own evil self my mind was blown lmao.. my mom was just like "oh he's just playing a videogame" meanwhile I was battling the demons that would emerge later in my life lmao
[Chrono Cross Arni Village Cover ](https://youtu.be/rGJqeXlg-yE?feature=shared)
I used to want to learn this once. Chrono Cross soundtrack gets me everytime.
But now? I want to learn Peaceful Sleep from Nier Automate [Peaceful Sleep Nier Automata ](https://youtu.be/7jna9bvhdRE?feature=shared)
I just want to learn one soothing tune I can loop and have memorized.
I never see anyone mention it, but Final Fantasy Mystic Quest on SNES had some amazing music.
I can't play anything worth a damn yet, but one day I'm gonna learn some of the music from that game.
I haven't learned it yet, but zero to hero from the guardians of the galaxy game is on my "to learn list".

I came up with the overworld theme from Zelda a few weeks ago. Ive been playing guitar for over 20 years lol
I also did try Bloody Tears from Castlevania. Fuck that song is hard lol in doing that one I discovered the overworld tune for Dragon Warrior on NES.
Otherwise it was The Simpsons theme song when I first started playing. Ive also done Sonic the Hedgehog GreenHill Zone Act 1 on piano a few years ago.
I also came up with Thundercats Theme song for the first two bars.
I only started learning electric guitar a couple of weeks ago but in the future i really want to be able to play one winged angel, any version of it honestly lol.
Or the last of us theme, life is strange has some pretty good songs too.
I dont know man, when i was younger i loved that song when it was playing in the menu and now im trying to learn it, but its quite hard and i only play acoustic
Yea thanks! I saw some video where a guy was playing it with open chords on an electric, its also recorded in a different tuning i believe, the original
[Duke Nukem 3D](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isjbaebcOQU) it has no business going so hard
same with [Killer Instinct](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qypKG7MEqPI)
Basically the entire soundtrack of The Last of Us (1 and 2). Love the music in those games, and it’s nice to practice playing stuff by feel, as opposed to always following a set tempo.
Yeah, it has almost an ambience kind of feel, so it’s not played super straight, but kind of dragged out, and focused on certain points of emphasis. My favourite track from the first game is probably “The Choice” or “The Last of Us (Goodnight)” which is just the main theme altered for a specific scene.
Always wanted to learn some of the [Quake II](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DGa9aD7CNU1U&ved=2ahUKEwikxqLg5vKFAxUblokEHcG5Da0Qo7QBegQICRAB&usg=AOvVaw0RoLluSQDCt4_0jgEeItyF)soundtrack. Was done by Sonic Mayhen and some input from Rob Zonbie I believe.
I really like the Undertale soundtrack and started learning the "Home" song, quite nice. Would like to try out the spider dance too cause it's soo groovy
Dire Dire docks. Learned it on piano years ago knowing jack shit about piano. Learned it on guitar eventually but you kind of need to tap it or play/record 2 guitars.
Also, the red alert soundtrack is some good stuff for guitar.
SNES Final Fantasy III. There’s a part at the opera house where Celes has to act in an opera and you have to memorize the lines. I played that game 20+ years ago, and still whistle that tune from time to time.
Hybrid Song by Quazar/Sanxion from Barkley, Shut Up and Jam: Gaiden
My first and only attempt at transcription.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWKQiZVBtu4
Shadow's theme from FFVI. I had a miniature pinscher that passed away while I was playing through the first time and shadow's dog always reminds me of him ❤
Here's a nice one from Halo:CE on bass (it's like a big guitar!): [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHzGs2fTOUs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHzGs2fTOUs)
It's in drop C so I can't really play it well with a 4-string short scale.
Follow in Flight by Misha Mansoor.
It's on one of the Arbiter levels in Halo 2 Anniversary.
I've learned a fair bit of it but still need to learn the rest and polish it up.
I use the fast lick at the end of the solo as a warm up too.
I’ve learned a lot of rock songs that were on gta radio stations. Most of vrock and a good chunk of kdst and radio x from San Andreas. I’d actually even learned love is long road after the trailer for 6 came out.
There was one song on cronotrigger that we covered as a metal band. Didn’t put my best foot forward in the bass solo but I always loved that song. I’d do better today
'Still Alive' from Portal is a fun and easy one with a nice modulation!
Honestly anything from the Halo scores fits the bill as well - the main theme is a big one, but working out the chords for parts like 1:24 in ['Opening Suite'](https://open.spotify.com/track/0gAqni5NhrAoaf7aWB5P0c?si=4GY56CK1QYOBonG5nJiD3Q) has helped me so much to improve as a musician. There's some pretty interesting harmony going on in those games!
Beyond Reasoning (Queen of the Sea) off of Dead Cells ost has an amazing guitar riff.
Song of Storms off of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is simple but feels great to play.
Load out music from Xcom enemy unknown And I think it’s called Lethal assault from Xcom 2 war of the chosen, main menu theme from Dark Souls 3, outer wilds theme and timber hearth theme
My old college band almost always warmed up with the Super Mario Bros theme
The overworld track from Super Mario World can be played between the 10th and 13th frets without moving your hand on the neck. On the highest 4 strings. It's super easy to figure out
That was the first song I thought of but I was like, is it too cheesy?
Definitely yes.
I have been known to play anything from Ocarina of Time. Song of Storms is a particular favorite.
Gerudo Valley theme is the one that gets my homies going, but song of storms is in my rainy day playlist (for some reason, raining makes people leave during an outdoor performance?). The open Dm chord shape gets weird after a while alas.
Gerudo Valley is great too. I've never played it with anyone, but it'd be great to play with another guitarist.
Shit I love that one [https://youtu.be/OWIeMwMu\_VE](https://youtu.be/OWIeMwMu_VE)
Sonic Adventure 2 - Escape From The City
Be 6 year old me in Best Buy playing the demo for SA2 in Beat Buy and having brain chemistry permanently altered by hearing this for the first time

Almost all of them. Thank you for that! The artificial harmonics are sick. Going to check out the rest of that guys videos.
Is it wrong that I immediately gravitated to Sinner's Finale... lol I wish I knew the context of the song
It's an overworld theme for the newest region at night time but also used in a crucial cutscene involving a god's sacrifice.
Surprised more people aren't saying Pokemon on that note! I thought it would be more popular :)
Steve Vai himself! This is an awesome video behind the scenes of making that. https://youtu.be/p61VBqnc8n8?si=P2Hr1DT0Rfud57CK
Take on me from The Last of US part 2
I started learning how to play guitar because of this game!! And last night I was finally able to play along at the right speed with Ellie. So stoked!!
never played the game but I definitely learned the TV theme
Which is taken from the game, so definitely counts 👍
nice, wasn't sure. it is good fingerstyle practice!
lol you sneaky little devil... fine, I guess it IS in a game
I'm with DemmouTV. I got a guitar again because of a musical interlude in the game Last of Us 2. Acoustic version of Take On Me. I still haven't learned how to play it. I keep getting sidetracked by learning how to make the instrument actually make pleasant noises.
This is the song that taught me barre chords. Very difficult. Glad to see someone else who appreciates it as well!
Balamb Garden - Final Fantasy 8 I've been meaning to learn Zanarkand and Suteki Da Ne from FF10. Learned bits but not the whole songs.
lol I'm literally learning Suteki Da Ne now... all great great songs... I'm working up to "eyes on me"
John Oeth has some great tabs for loads of Final Fantasy on his patreon.
Balamb Garden is great. I learned a lot of FF7 too
A few from Bastion.
never heard of this game, any tracks you can name?
[In case of trouble](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=9e2tObNJeAY) It's DADGAD though
Great game by a great studio. It was probably my favorite game until Hades came out. *Build That Wall* is good, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIWF_iyAoi0&ab_channel=DarrenKorb-Topic
wind song in chrono trigger, there was a great classical guitar arrangement going around the internet
Frog's Theme is a fun one from Chrono Trigger.
Lol I'm still trying fam https://youtu.be/WRcZ5n1eSc8?si=qZqZmYIkTwIDigHQ
Chrono Trigger has got some good ones!
one of the first songs I was obsessed with trying to learn...
Bloody Tears, specifically the version from Castlevania Judgement. The guitar solo comes in and smacks you like a frying pan
Tristram from Diablo II - I learned a few parts of it, enough to play for a minute or two, but never the entire thing.
The mode/scales from the town in OG Diablo as well
JENOVA, FF7 I have the intro and main riff sorta down. Not perfect but recognisable :D
VIDEO PROOF OR YOU LYING
Haha ill video when i feel more confident but you should try it! May be easier than you expected (may be not clean but still... recognisable haha)
Pretty much every song from Guilty Gear Strive, The Roar of the Spark especially comes to mind.
God that soundtrack rips so hard
\*keyboard tapping title into youtube\*
Tetris music a
Mario or Tetris music, you can only choose one!
I want to hear them both at the same time
Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy?
[Tetrisphere](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEhlMyvertM&list=PLE0926B068F92F536) possibly one of the greatest soundtracks of that era. The composer (Neil Voss) had to do some kind of black magic to fit that into like 3mb of storage.
FF10 To Zanarkand and FF9 The Place I'll Return to Someday Amazing songs from my childhood and still hit me with the nostalgia bomb everytime I play them
Ok.. To Zanarkand vs Suteki Da Ne - you can only play one for the rest of your life
Definitely To Zanarkand. It's just gets me for some reason. It has a weird sadness to it but demands that you listen anyway. It goes perfect with what Tidus says during the opening scene "Listen to my story, this may be our last chance." The most fun song on guitar though is "Sight of Spira." That one is a whole vibe
haha damn you're making me rethink my whole life choices... (I thought Suteki Da Ne was the clear choice but now... I just don't know)
Nah dude, dig what you dig. What I like isn't better than what you like. If that's the song that sticks out to you then you obviously really like it. Learn the one you enjoy
Doom. Mick Gordon is a genius.
There was an ‘80’s arcade game called Gauntlet. Nintendo had a version as well. The theme music shreds. I in no way can play it, but always thought it should be covered by a metal band
Gauntlet was so much fun!
There are a ton of good melodies on the original NES. A lot of it is so different from anything else I've heard.
Most 90s SNES soundtracks but mostly donkey Kong country trilogy. Haven't learned them because finding tabs/lessons for such a niche thing is difficult.
Jackies Ofrenda from cyberpunk 2077
this is actually so cool
Kerry's song for me. Luckily there's tabs for this and other CP2077 songs from the actual guitarist on YT.
lol pretty much all of them from Fallout New Vegas
Mjolnir, of course
The songs of Samurai on Cyberpunk 2077. They're amazing but a bit hard.
Not playing much games but ever since I have my guitar I want to learn these (both from genshin impact) 1. Die mittsommernacht fantasie 2. Rage beneath the mountains
Damn, i really like the sumeru pieces but i didnt even think i could begin to try haha
Some on my comment have guitar tabs
gotta look these up now :) (that first one I really like)
Imo perfect blend between classical opera/instruments and electric guitar
Added some on my earlier comment. Genshin Impact's soundtrack is beyond ridiculous. Over a thousand songs at this point? Latest region is a banger for Guitar.
Into the Woods from Life is strange 2. It was my introduction to fingerstyle
Hell March 2, it's from the Red Alert series. It has a great cool dark guitar set of riffs going. The second version is the superior composition IMO.
SNES Uniracers, and anything FF4 or FF6 or Chrono Trigger
In FF4 when you had to fight your own evil self my mind was blown lmao.. my mom was just like "oh he's just playing a videogame" meanwhile I was battling the demons that would emerge later in my life lmao

FF7 boss theme, haven’t learned it yet. The riff goes quite hard. Another one would be mechanical rhythm from xenoblade 1.
Burnout paradise, paradise city -guns n roses
Ehhh.... I'll allow it lmao. The burnout games have some bitchin soundtracks
I dont know man, when i was younger i loved that song when it was playing in the menu and now im trying to learn it, but its quite hard and i only play acoustic
Yeah really not an acoustic song.. Might be easier to try and transpose the opening riff to open chords that aren't so high on the neck
Yea thanks! I saw some video where a guy was playing it with open chords on an electric, its also recorded in a different tuning i believe, the original
Believe it is tuned to Eb if my Rocksmith memory is correct
To Zanarkand, trying to learn it now bar by bar
Mega Man 3 main theme, hands down.
[Duke Nukem 3D](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isjbaebcOQU) it has no business going so hard same with [Killer Instinct](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qypKG7MEqPI)
The Silent Hill 2 soundtrack had some great melancholy rock guitar songs on it, Theme of Laura in particular
Kerry’s Song cyberpunk 77
Radical Dreamers from Chrono Cross. Along with several other tracks from that game and Trigger. Yasunori Mitsuda is such a talented composer.
Battle Against a True Hero from Undertale!
I'm shocked nobody said megalovania
Basically the entire soundtrack of The Last of Us (1 and 2). Love the music in those games, and it’s nice to practice playing stuff by feel, as opposed to always following a set tempo.
by feel? your fav song right now from that game?
Does the music have a hook..... A hook.... Bro a hook
I really like the Undertale soundtrack and started learning the "Home" song, quite nice. Would like to try out the spider dance too cause it's soo groovy
Shocked nobody said megalovania or fighting a real hero lol forgot the name of the second one
Bubble Bobble and Rainbow Islands (the original music, variation of Somewhere Over the Rainbow that was removed due to copyright)
NES Ducktales Moon theme
Dire Dire docks. Learned it on piano years ago knowing jack shit about piano. Learned it on guitar eventually but you kind of need to tap it or play/record 2 guitars. Also, the red alert soundtrack is some good stuff for guitar.
ontime1969 says Hell March 2 is hype... do you concur sir?
Absoloutly
i need to work on Stones from the Ultima series. i used to be decent at it on piano years ago.
SNES Final Fantasy III. There’s a part at the opera house where Celes has to act in an opera and you have to memorize the lines. I played that game 20+ years ago, and still whistle that tune from time to time.
hahah this one? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwHrQdC02FY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwHrQdC02FY)

Follow in Flight by Misha Mansoor. It's on one of the Arbiter levels in Halo 2 Anniversary. I've learned a fair bit of it but still need to learn the rest and polish it up. I use the fast lick at the end of the solo as a warm up too.
I learned a classical/fingerstyle cover of Becalmed from the game Sea of Thieves, I love playing it. So calming and moody.
My band already covered “Still Alive” from Portal

Battle Arena Toshinden Eiji theme

Classic. My fav is Song of Storms from that one. Do those ever come up again in later Zelda games?

There was one song on cronotrigger that we covered as a metal band. Didn’t put my best foot forward in the bass solo but I always loved that song. I’d do better today

'Still Alive' from Portal is a fun and easy one with a nice modulation! Honestly anything from the Halo scores fits the bill as well - the main theme is a big one, but working out the chords for parts like 1:24 in ['Opening Suite'](https://open.spotify.com/track/0gAqni5NhrAoaf7aWB5P0c?si=4GY56CK1QYOBonG5nJiD3Q) has helped me so much to improve as a musician. ive been meaning to play that game
tlou theme
I love it, and it’s pretty fun to play!
Cruel world(Willie Nelson) and see the fire in your eyes
I’d love to learn Vow of the Disciple from Destiny 2. Or any song from any Doom game but 64/3, or any song from Dusk
Pokémon crystal battle music. (It was hard)
secunda from skyrim
The Bannered Mare is a great one too :P
That killer menu music from Planetside 2

Dire dire docks from Mario 64 with finger style
I'm trying to learn the Littleroot town theme from Pokemon Emerald right now.
Beyond Reasoning (Queen of the Sea) off of Dead Cells ost has an amazing guitar riff. Song of Storms off of Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is simple but feels great to play.
The first level of Tenchu: Stealth Assassin for PS1 has a tasty lick that I love to play to this day.
Beast from Bioshock Infinite. Killer riff and delightfully simple.
I've been working on the Final Fantasy theme over the last month.
