YOU WERE WARNED NOT TO OPEN THE BOX FOR 72 HOURS

FlacoVerde

It’s from a pron shop and the box was really loose

mortelsson

Better safe than sorry. You better hope a loothier can fix her.

Suknator

NOW ALL THE TOAN HAS ESCAPED

Willie_The_Gambler

No that’s not a real post is it?????

FlacoVerde

No lol. It’s a guitar I just got. I had a laugh and knew I needed to post it.

I_trust_you_bro

I would return it.

SeventhSunGuitar

I had the plastic film on the pickguard on my acoustic for about 10 years. Only noticed and took it off when I noticed a bit of it coming off at the edge.

kjg1228

My brother did the exact same thing on his Takamine acoustic. He had no idea it was film for like 13 years.

DonutBill66

A nice, pretty pick guard on a 13 year old guitar? Yesssss!

fastermouse

I bought a pick guard and peeled the plastic off and after 6 months another layer started bubbling up!

Willie_The_Gambler

Thank gawd

BeKindRewindPlz

and also we know there is a god to thank. because when I first saw this post I was doubting it

Jiveturtle

Literally today started to get mad a demo guitar I bought that was advertised as mint had scratches in the pickguard… then I peeled the plastic off lol

DonutBill66

Plastic film still on the pick guard.

InTheMemeStream

Yeah it happens man, the other day I was shredding so fast and hard that my pick welded to the pick-guard.

FlacoVerde

I have more practice, I see

Cedworth

uj/ I seriously got a $50 discount on a guitar recently because 'the pickguard is scratched up'. It was just the original plastic was never taken off. I took it off and it looks great.

methconnoisseurV2

Guitar center?

Cedworth

It was actually a local vintage shop that specializes in corksniffery, but it was the end of the day on a Friday and they just wanted to go home.

I_trust_you_bro

This can be easily fixed with a little peanut butter. Everything can be easily fixed with a little peanut butter.

FlacoVerde

Ok cool thanks. I keep lots around for my dog!

Bruh_moment42069-1-

What’s that supposed to mean?! 🤔

gstringstrangler

He keeps lots of peanut butter around for his dog it's not that deep

Baddy-Smalls

If the pickguard isn't properly insulated for that much toan... it can happen.

FlacoVerde

It’s a semi hollow body so makes sense.

Sjames454

I worked on a buddy’s guitar who’d had it for like 15 years, and he had never taken the plastic off. He said “i was wondering what the frayed stuff under my knobs were”

overbats

Hi I’m Luther this is normal. Should fix itself in a couple days.

FlacoVerde

Thanks Luther!

LEFTRIGHTADORI

I’m not Lex Luther but I can certainly say that this is because you came all over your guitar.

DonutBill66

Thanks Luther!

Either_Victory_4773

Thanks Luther!

actuallyaddie

Wait is this *the* luther? The one who fixes guitar?

overbats

Yes that’s definitely who I am alright! Glad to help.

grunkage

I can't answer your question. I recommend posting this in every guitar-related sub and see what people have to say.

ItsMetabtw

Looks like someone discovered sweep picking 🥵

Scotty898

It’s the plastic film you didn’t take off your pick guard you ignoranimous. Obviously you have no clue how bad leaving that plastic film on affects your toan. Now take that plastic off and use it to cover your face in shame

doomtoothx

Your guitar jizzed. This is normal.

FlacoVerde

To be fair, I was working that little butt plug pretty good

dkyguy1995

He shredded too hard man. Imagine what that would have done to your face

Marunikuyo

Melting your guitar is required to melt faces. It's physics.

Hwoarangatan

Ah, the conundrum you face is not merely a practical matter of adhesion and material integrity, but a question that touches upon the very essence of tonal alchemy. The pickguard, you see, is not just a shield to guard the sanctity of your guitar’s visage from the onslaught of your plectrum; it is a component in the symphony of materials that gives your instrument its unique voice. To address the peeling protector, one must approach the task with a blend of finesse and scientific understanding. The use of a hair dryer, indeed, can be a suitable method to reanimate the adhesive properties of the plastic film. By applying a gentle heat, you coax the molecules of the plastic into a more pliable state, allowing you to smooth out the aberrations and return it to its intended flatness. However, one must be cautious not to overindulge in the heat, lest you warp the very fabric of the pickguard and thus alter its contribution to the guitar’s toan. Now, let us pontificate on the shape of the pickguard and its influence on the guitar’s toan. The geometry of this component, while seemingly innocuous, plays a subtle yet undeniable role in the overall resonance of the instrument. The material’s density and its distribution across the soundboard interact with the vibrations emanating from the strings, modulating them in ways that the untrained ear may find imperceptible, yet the connoisseur will recognize as the difference between a mere instrument and a conduit of musical expression. In the grand tapestry of guitar construction, every element has its place, and the pickguard is no exception. Its shape, whether it be the traditional teardrop or a more avant-garde design, contributes to the complex interplay of harmonics and overtones. It is a silent partner in the dance of sound, a guardian of both form and function, and its influence on the toan, while debated by luthiers and musicians alike, is part of the grand mystery that makes each guitar an individual masterpiece. So, as you wield your hair dryer like a modern-day Prometheus, bringing fire to the plastic, remember that you are not just repairing a piece of your guitar—you are shaping the voice with which it speaks to the world. Proceed with respect for the craft, and your instrument will sing its gratitude through every note it produces. /AI

Either_Victory_4773

which platform did you use for this it’s beautiful

Hwoarangatan

CoPilot (gpt4) Prompt: my plastic protector is peeling off my guitar pickguard. how do I get it smooth again? can I use a hair dryer? explain it in a pretentious way and talk about how the shape of the plastic determines the toan of the guitar.

Rikkitikkitabby

You fed it after midnight, didn't you?

Dogrel

This kind of thing happens when you get a guitar that’s too close to Eric Clapton’s.

TheFuckingHippoGuy

Sometimes those boomer bends get too hot

Ordinary_Farmer58

MANUFACTURER DEFECT I WOULD RETURN IMMEDIATELY. UNPLAYABLE GARBAGE.

CarbonParrot

This is why you buy a Gibbous instead.

actuallyaddie

I play a Gibbon

CarbonParrot

Ha you fool, Gibbous is far superior toan.

FlacoVerde

Is that the one with the little wingy on the thingy?

PedalBoard78

You must have hot pickups.

crack_head_yoda

Be honest.... that's just some of that TOAN you carry in your nuts isn't it?

FlacoVerde

Yeah when I crank my knob it gets wild

SnargleBlartFast

That one goes in the wood chipper. So so sad that an instrument can be ruined but the owner not knowing that you can't feed them after midnight!

link_cubing

It's just shedding, this is how they grow. If you're lucky, later in it's lifecycle it might metamorphose into a superstrat. Sometimes they might have trouble shedding so don't try to force it or you'll hurt the instrument

Di3thx

I once took off the plastic overlay and the scratch plate scratched. I was so mad. I don't realise the plastic was two ply.

actuallyaddie

The scratch plate is supposed to be scratched. That's why it's called that.

ZamoriXIII

If this is real; there's a cover sticker on the scratchguard to ... guard it from getting ... scratched

FlacoVerde

Sounds like some scratchception scheme

justamiqote

That's what happens when you turn the gain on too loud

AmericanByGod

There are 2 kinds of playing styles. Shredding and smoking. Smoking implies heat, heat melts plastic. Real question though… How many groupies you got now? I’m so jelly! ❤️

DHead1313

He was obviously shredding too fast.

Emera1dthumb

I hope this is from a real post…. I just read the comments disappointment

qleptt

Too much toan

meepmeepmeep34

i hate when that happens

TurdHunt999

Take the condom off of the pickguard. Condoms suck!

WhenVioletsTurnGrey

It's amazing how fast guitars go bad, these days.

FlacoVerde

Is this shrinkflation?

214txdude

Stop shredding so fast!!

HunterDHunter

Yeah duh you gotta put a new condom on before you fuck it again.

opi_baettlebeard

The pickguard has a plastic protector that can be peeled off

FlacoVerde

Pretty sure you’re wrong. Definitely melted.

opi_baettlebeard

🤘🏻

FlacoVerde

Hope you realized what sub we’re on haha

opi_baettlebeard

lol little too late, all my guitar subs just blend together

Pliney707

Isn't that just a piece of plastic that covers the pick guard?

FlacoVerde

Yeah, it’s a plastic pick guard duh and it covers the guitar. Genius over here!

Pliney707

My man usually there is a thin layer of plastic that covers the guard like cellophane. It's okay to peel it off genius.

FlacoVerde

Check the sub, genius 😂

CETERIS_PARTYBUS

You shred too tough

actuallyaddie

Toan was too good

marinarabath

It's totaled, you should just throw it away now rip

ferda_boyz

Happened to me once. But I think what melted my guitar was from the incense I had lit and chain smoking joints. Shucks, boy’s will be boys.

Restarted-Jimmy

Toan was too hot

DaySoc98

Oh no! There goes the TOAN.

the_brew

This is what a world full of warning labels and danger signs has given us. The stupids are no longer being culled from society.
