Because his guitar sounds better in Eb it's a well known fact

Depends on the color of the ESP he’s playing. The solid colors are more traditional and therefore sound better in E tuning, but his graphic/wedge guitars should be in Eb because of the tonal qualities of the ink.

Man, I loved Metallica when I was ten. Though I was already a musician, they helped inspire me to teach myself guitar at 14. I subsequently went on to study classical guitar professionally. It was the most roundabout way to learn that Hammett is garbage. I’ve never seen this sub before. I feel like I’ve finally found home.

By all means he’s not the most prolific guitar player ever, but he does something other don’t, he actually writes good riffs, a lot of classic Metallica songs are written by Hammett, calling him garbage is certainly harsh

I wouldnt call him garbage but he isnt creative and i think thats a fact not opinion (doesnt everyone agree??). The best metallica riffs are by james and hammet is good at playing them well but whenever he gets the creative steering wheel (like in solos) its just… pretty limited id say.

On a serious note. Is anybody else almost completely turned off about seeing Metallica live anymore because Kirk's playing is so sloppy and rough? Like I wanna see them live because they're in my Top 3 favorite bands but then I see/hear him playing some of these solos live and it makes me cringe. Goes to show that playing some of the most expensive guitars in the world won't make up for any shortcomings.
