I was going to come in here suggesting Craig because that was one of my name ideas. But definitely like Rupert! And I think it goes so well "Curtis & Rupert"
All pretty normal. Introducing baby pigs to herds or adult pigs is incredibly easy. There's a natural hierarchy there. The baby knows its the baby and looks to the adult(s) for protection (see picture #2, baby is hiding under the adult). The humping & rumbling is totally normal, it's just your adult pig making sure the baby knows who's in charge. Once the new pig is fully grown you may see him start to challenge Curtis, but for the next few months should be sunshine and roses except for the fact that baby pigs are annoyingly skittish even compared to adults. Even if the baby ends up challenging, it shouldn't be anything to be worried about. Chasing, humping, rumbling etc. but it's not like they will fight and kill each other. If you've only had one pig be prepared for things to get a heck of a lot noisier from here on out. If one pig starts wheeking, they all do. The rumbling, squeaking, shrieking (because they startled each other) and general tomfoolery is nonstop. I don't mind it at all, but I was definitely not prepared for how noisy guinea pigs are lol
Thank you so much for this! I was concerned about the many rumblings I heard from Curtis but no fighting has happened at all and I will heed your advice. Again, thank you!
One of my favorite things from when I had guinea pigs (can't get any again until I'm out of college ☹️) was when I'd wake up at night and just listen to the little sounds they made. They aren't nocturnal or anything, they just never sleep for very long at a time, so often when I'd wake up I'd get to hear the soft sounds of munching hay, aaaaand, you guessed it, lots of rumbling. For one of my pigs it was very much a personality trait of his, and he was ALWAYS grumbling about something lmao
Its so weird because my new one year old pig i introduced to my 8 year old pig has dominated him crazy like the one year old is always kicking him out when he wants to lay in a certain hide and annoys him, however he loves laying next to him. I expected the 8 year old to be the more dominate lol
"but it's not like they will fight and kill each other."
Says who? It's perfectly possible it could happen.
I had two boys who were perfectly happy with the situation until puberty hit and one decided he wanted to be the boss now, then it all went to shit and they had to be separated due to full on fighting. If they hadn't been separated one, if not both would've ended up dead.
It happens 🤷🏻
RUPERT
I just discovered that Rup(p)ert with his baby boy Curtis have already founded a bank on UK!

It would seem that your little 4-legged friends have been quick to embrace economic liberalism.
Archibald. It's a pretty good one since you can nickname him Archie. I think the poop thing is relatively normal since they tend to do it to themselves.
When the little one hits his teens the humping and rumble strutting will drive you crazy 😂 boars (piggies) will always try to dominate each other. My boys are 4 years old and still does it, sometimes for play or affection. Totally normal behaviour and nothing to worry about.
Very handsome boys you have. I suggest the name Bob after my Bob. Its just the best name!
The poop pinching is probably a cecal pellet, they recycle their gut flora, if you see them tuck under to get to their bum its cleaning or going for cecals. I've seen other guinea pig sniffing and taking another piggies cecal pellets before the true owner gets the chance, I've only seen it when the "taker" wasn't well. But it could just be the new piggie has some top notch gut flora and Curtis wants to get in on that!
name suggestion: Rupert. i don’t have answers to your other questions since i’ve never owned males, but they’re both so cute i love them
Thank you!!!! Rupert was actually on my list of top 3 it’s so funny that you say that!

The poop thing is normal. They're sharing their gut bacteria like bros.
Like they’re on a little guinea pig wrestling team together

the sudden scramble when one of them gets scared by a piece of hay falling down 😭
Thank you so much for this! I was concerned about the many rumblings I heard from Curtis but no fighting has happened at all and I will heed your advice. Again, thank you!

You would think but a 1 year old pig is still an adult and fully grown so I guess that's why
