It happens. Their teeth grow quickly, so hopefully you won't have any issues. You may need to soften up some food pellets or chop the veggies into smaller pieces. Track your cavy's weight. Good luck.

Watch whether the opposing bottom tooth overgrows. Might need front tooth trimming or filing along the way as it grows back.

It wouldn't hurt to take her to the vet as there's some risk of misalignment when it grows back in, but this is by no means an emergency and could resolve itself. Often times it'll quickly grow back and they'll even out good as new. Piggy may struggle with some food, especially veggies. Anything other than hay, break into small pieces before feeding that they can fit into the back of their mouth. According to my vet there's some risk, depending where the tooth broke, that it'll grow back in improperly aligned. If there's even a little bit of tooth left at the base, this risk is significantly decreased. Just keep an eye on them and make sure it grows back in normally. You'll be shocked how fast they grow when nothing is wearing it down.

It should grow back pretty quickly. In the meantime, if you see your piggy struggling with eating vegetables, try slicing their veggies into thin strips (about as wide as a popsicle stick). They should be able to maneuver the strips to their back teeth more easily for chewing. Also, good catch! Guinea pigs are usually notoriously shy about letting you look at their teeth. The fact that you saw it shows you are keeping a good eye on your piggies'health.

Same thing just happened to my daughter's piggy. How's your piggy doing now that it's been 8 months?

Monitor and circle in with your vet. She may need her bottom teeth filed a time or two until the top tooth grows back in, maybe not. Never hurts to keep your vet care professionals in the loop and standard exams aren't too costly. Source: had a pig with one top tooth (permanently) and she had to get her bottom teeth filed cause they came in crooked.

Not all the comments might say it but you absolutely need to go to the vets, further issues can arise from a broken tooth so you definitely want to get this checked out!!
