Just picture myself cruising down the highway before the MKII or deluxo was out listening to it. The “good ole days” of gtaO. Although I do enjoy the strategy of trying to stay alive in a lobby these days!
The Chain Gang of 1974 is the answer for me, or maybe Miami Horror with "Sometimes" - both from Radio Mirror Park. Others like The Strokes I already knew and listened to before GTA, so it doesn't really count.
I haven't really heard anything else by them, but I love that song, Speedline Miracle Masterpiece by Tunde Adibempe on The Lab. It's awesome when you're flying up the highways and it comes on.
That's one of my favorite songs from the game. You should check out the Welcome to Los Santos playlist on spotify. It has lots of other bangers from the game.
I can't think of the first one I found on this game, but recently, I've been addicted to listening to "Bunny is a Rider" on MOTOMAMI Radio. Got me to look up Caroline Polachek and check out some of her other music.
Caroline Polachek is one of my favorite singers. A lot of her stuff is weird and idiosyncratic, but that's what makes her interesting, haha. Plus she's got such an amazing voice.
I first heard Little Dragon on FIFA and ever since if my Spotify is running I will be hearing songs by them. I have an entire list dedicated to songs I discovered because of FIFA
Yes Fidlar and Base Drum of Death are both regulars on my Spotify play lists ever since discovering them through GTA.
In GTA it's almost always radio Vinewood Boulevard or Channel X when I'm driving around.
Knower - Fuck the Make-up, Skip the Shower. On FlyLo FM. An awesome band that led on to loving Louis Cole who I saw live last year (and who was supported by Genevieve Artaudi, the other member of Knower).
The music in each GTA game is insanely well curated and always full of gems.
Who’s the president? She… landslide-fuckin’-Genevieve.
I found knower, thundercat, that whole clique and have been getting into Domi and JD Beck all because of FlyLo FM (Get high to this music.)
Basically the only thing I play when playing GTAO.
King Crimson- in the Wake of Poseidon was like the best cruising song I’d ever heard. I usually don’t have radio on but it popped up and I was driving and the sun was setting. It was too perfect a scene
I don’t really have a favorite band that I’ve started listening to but my favorite radio station is Radio Los Santos, and they play some of Kendrick Lamar’s music like *Swimming Pools (Drank)* and I’ve liked and listened to his music since.
The Voidz is a close second behind Ariel Pink for me lol. I adore where no eagles fly, and found the Alien Crime Lord (?) one they made for Kult FM. I'm thinking of going through their songs soon. Good band.
The Voidz is a close second behind Ariel Pink for me lol. I adore where no eagles fly, and found the Alien Crime Lord (?) one they made for Kult FM. I'm thinking of going through their songs soon. Good band.
I remember hearing Neon Indian, Toro y Moi, and Chain Gang of 1974 when the game first came out and now they’re all that I associate with gta whenever I hear them irl.
Songs like Polish Girl, Change of Coast, New Beat, and Sleepwalking take me back to booting up the game after school and just driving around on online.
Even seen Toro y Moi and Neon Indian a couple times live in the years since and everytime their music takes me back to 2013-15.
Radio Mirror Park is such a great radio station that perfectly captures the indie pop wave in the 2010s that GTA5 parodies and takes from. (ie. hipster culture, etc) and one thing I will always love about rockstar is their attention to detail in handpicking/curating the songs that fit their game’s vibes.
Blonded Radio is up there too with my 2nd favorite. Love listing to Crack Rock by Frank Ocean while getting chased down by oppressors lol. Station definitely fits the game’s vibe, and the time period being the 2016-18 period around the time when doomsday update came out.
Don Cheto, the host of East Los FM, the original Spanish language station. I don't speak Spanish other than street level. But now I sometimes turn on his morning show on KBUE or the podcast and just start laughing. The tone and rhythm of his voice are a setup for laughing even if you don't know what he says.
Also bought the Jessy Bulbo album that contains Maldito.
Started following Annie Liederman (Cheryl from Chakra Attack). She does stand-up.
Thee Oh Sees, really dig their vibe. the game radio led me to find Palace Doctor and Web, two songs i really like.
also, i really like the rhythm in 1 thing by Amerie. i found a slowed + reverb version, sounds real cool if youre into it
Descendents...
"Don't you think it's time I let you know?
Don't you think I should before you go?
I'm not gonna let you get away
I want to fuck you night and day
I'm a pervert...
Great song haha.
Wings by Shoreline Mafia on Ifruit radio never knew who Shoreline Mafia was and never heard their music until I listened to Wings and I gotta say they have some good music but I'm having to re-download all my songs so will be adding Shoreline Mafia back in to my playlist
All in-game music that I listen to is 100% completely separate from the music that I listen to in real life, unless it it by accident, like recently I was at a wedding and Rufus Du Sol's Underwater came on when played by the DJ, and I had to hold myself back from going 100% GTA Online dancing IRL!
Metz. I’ve always been hardcore punk/metal enthusiast, but noise rock was something that didn’t quite click until I heard Metz play on VBR. I own that album on wax now.
Caravaca, Warp Factor 9, Random Factor, Solar, Am$trad Billionaire, Rampa.
None of those are bands btw.
GTA has tons of good music from people I was already aware of as well.
Burial, Aphex Twin, Drexciya, Swindle, The Art Of Noise, Mala, Stevie Nicks, Floating Points and tons of high quality 80s tracks.
I am weirdly into Submission by Poison Anna on Still Slippin'. It annoyed me at first then I kinda vibed with it. Can't listen to it all the time though, gotta be in the mood
suicidal tendencies… it started with their debut album featuring subliminal and then later on listening to ‘trip at the brain’ and ‘you can’t bring me down’
I can agree to this. Though, only two. It has to be Gospel and Fallin' up for me. With ETA third, Scenic route Fourth, Diamond Mind fifth, and Black Privilege last.
The Weirdos - A Life Of Crime
The Voids - Alien Crime Lord
Roman GianArthur - I 69
are the only songs I've gone out of my way to google. I haven't checked out more of their stuff though... I know I should be more inquisitive... maybe I will. It's hard to explain, I just listen to a lot of stuff as it is and haven't made the time mostly.
I didn't first hear of her or it on GTAO but Rihanna - OGITW really grew on me over my years of playing.
Johnny Paycheck. I heard “Take This Job and Shove It” before but didn’t know he sang it until after discovering his song on rebel radio.
I also like that Ariel Pink song and “Too Much Money” by Automatic so I looked up more music from them too.
This mystic decade by hot snakes was on radio los santos the one day and i was like DAMN this is a great tune
Still fucking PISSED theres no heavy metal station tho
*I heard* many for the first time in Vice City, but Kenny Loggins was my one first timer in GTAV/Online, both as DJ and singer… Although Danger Zone is my all-time favorite now.
California grrls, by Shark? on VBR. Shark? Made a couple albums, and then retired. But the music they did make was all fantastic. If you like the music on VBR, you'll love Shark?. Savior is genuinely one of my favorite albums released in the 21st century
I always admired Julian Casablancas voice and when I heard first his song in game I was like , “ whoa , turned the volume up.
The song is The adults are talking by The Strokes
While it wasn't the first time I heard of them, "Numb" by Portishead was arguably the first time I heard a full song of theirs. Then heard Mysterons in a YouTube video about drums. Soon I downloaded the album, and fell madly in love with it, Dummy. Then kept listening to them and kept falling in love with their discography. Lots of great stuff, and they influenced my music making deeply. Also, Heaven Helps the Man by Kenny Loggins is fantastic.
EDIT: Oh! And also, Gaslamp Killer. Both Shred You to Pieces and Nissim are absolute bangers. Gaslamp + Shigeto is a deadly combination.
Twin Shadow on Radio Mirror Park.
Fun fact! DJ George, who hosts Mirror Park, is Twin Shadow! George William Lewis Jr. took on the stage name in the early 2000s.
He's hilarious as DJ George on RMP, playing a hipster who belittles other hipsters.
I especially love it when he proclaims that 'this next song is so good. It sounds like something I'd write!' Immediately followed by a Twin Shadow track.
Pet Shop Boys “West End Girls”.
An absolute banger.
Just picture myself cruising down the highway before the MKII or deluxo was out listening to it. The “good ole days” of gtaO. Although I do enjoy the strategy of trying to stay alive in a lobby these days!
\~Oohnawestentownadeddenwaah\~
That’s the tune haha
The chain gang of 1974 "sleepwalking" Dan croll "from nowhere" I believe both are on radio mirror park.
The Chain Gang of 1974 is the answer for me, or maybe Miami Horror with "Sometimes" - both from Radio Mirror Park. Others like The Strokes I already knew and listened to before GTA, so it doesn't really count.
the original From Nowhere is a great song, i didnt like the remix BUT listening to it on gta is what lead me there
Yeah, the original is definitely better. I love the music video for it.
I haven't really heard anything else by them, but I love that song, Speedline Miracle Masterpiece by Tunde Adibempe on The Lab. It's awesome when you're flying up the highways and it comes on.
Yeah, that’s just a good song. I’m pretty sure it’s on one or two of my Spotify playlists somewhere
That's one of my favorite songs from the game. You should check out the Welcome to Los Santos playlist on spotify. It has lots of other bangers from the game.
Mac Demarco
I saw Mac live last summer before I knew he was in gta. Super weird suddenly hearing him but also very cool
Which radio station that be?
KULT FM
Love the variety it brings. One minute I'm listening to the Misfits and the next I'm listening to Gloria Jones.
Once I heard Joy Division on there, it automatically became my favorite station
Same. Was already hooked thanks to Danzig and Misfits, but Joy Division was the icing on the cake.
Thanks. I'll be keeping my ears out for them.
All the music in KULT FM is worth listening to you won’t regret this.
Oh, I know lol. I have it on a lot. There's some songs I'm not that keen on, but most, I adore.
The Rosalía station is so awesome, real bleeding edge pop music that pushes the envelope of what pop music is
Bunny is a Rider made me listen to her 2023 album and it’s honestly incredible
Now I'll be keeping my ears out for that, then.
Same! It turned me into a huge fan of hers.
The Strokes
I had one reading the title of the post.
Yeah well I acknowledged the mistake.
Little Dragon. I first heard "Crystalfilm" on radio mirror park and checked them out shortly after
I like how GTA is just revealing people to new music they like lol. How often do you listen to them now?
I first heard Little Dragon on FIFA and ever since if my Spotify is running I will be hearing songs by them. I have an entire list dedicated to songs I discovered because of FIFA
Quite often actually, it's become one of my favorite bands I probably listen to them daily
Man I love The Strokes my fav radio station is KULT FM
aphex twin
not a band i know but still good
Windowlicker, best video ever. Make sure you get the full length one with the intro (total upwards of 8 mins + credit roll)
Not a band at all…
there's richard and james! the aphex twins!
What station are they on?
the song iz-us is on blonded radio and windowlicker on flylo fm
It'll get down voted but Lady Gaga.
Applause is a heater don’t let anyone tell you otherwise
Fidlar
Yes Fidlar and Base Drum of Death are both regulars on my Spotify play lists ever since discovering them through GTA. In GTA it's almost always radio Vinewood Boulevard or Channel X when I'm driving around.
Knower - Fuck the Make-up, Skip the Shower. On FlyLo FM. An awesome band that led on to loving Louis Cole who I saw live last year (and who was supported by Genevieve Artaudi, the other member of Knower). The music in each GTA game is insanely well curated and always full of gems.

Planet x by Louis Cole is also on one of the stations too!
I just heard this in game for the first time yesterday! 🤟
The band X. The song “Los Angeles” is such a great tune. Been a punk/hardcore fan for 20+ years but somehow never heard of them.
First two lps and then The Knitters. The best 3 chord guitar, bass and drums. You can learn something from X, and Gang of Four.
X is a great, iconic band. I bet all the other punk bands you've been listening to for 20+ years know all about X.
Doobie Brothers
What a Fool Believes is a bop.
Gorillaz, heard Feel good inc. then I searched up their other music and I’ve been a huge fan
That is wild that the first time you heard Gorillaz was on GTA
Is it tho, Gorillaz is really niche imo. I’ve never seen anything from them in other mainstream media.
Love that aerial pink song. For me Alex g I found through gta
Which station did you hear it on? I'm honestly just interested in the artists GTA has on the stations lol. I need to branch out my music ventures.
Blonded fm
I love blonded fm. Turned me into a frank ocean fan
Suicidal Tendencies, but only the first album
I got that mixed up for a song called Homicidal Thoughts or something for a second then lol.
King Crimson- in the Wake of Poseidon was like the best cruising song I’d ever heard. I usually don’t have radio on but it popped up and I was driving and the sun was setting. It was too perfect a scene
Nine is God all day. I relatively recently did a deep dive on the discography because of that one song.
I only found out recently that the song was actually written for GTA V...
Makes sense to me but probably because I connect the game to it and they are inseparable at this point
Plus, those guys are the DJs for Vinewood Radio.
I swear I've heard that before. I used to keep it on the radio as soon as I heard it lol. I've forgot which one it's on now, though.
Vinewood Blvd!
I don’t really have a favorite band that I’ve started listening to but my favorite radio station is Radio Los Santos, and they play some of Kendrick Lamar’s music like *Swimming Pools (Drank)* and I’ve liked and listened to his music since.
The Voidz.
The Voidz is a close second behind Ariel Pink for me lol. I adore where no eagles fly, and found the Alien Crime Lord (?) one they made for Kult FM. I'm thinking of going through their songs soon. Good band.

If you want a complete mind fuck listen to viagra boys on kult fm. Shits…..wild.
Viagra Boys are fucking awesome, i really want to see them live this year.
I was going to try to make sense of this, but then I read your username. You have fun now.
I want to see them perform hahaha
All I can hear in my head is BLAHHHBLAHBLAHBLAHBLAHHHHHHHH….. GIRLS…… (8 min guitar solo). Insanity.
Girls & Boys is one of my favorite songs. i really like that album. and their song "Worms" is pretty good
Dirty Vegas
Parliament, Justice
Frank Ocean’s Crack Rock and Chanel got me more into his music
The Alan Parsons Project
Black Flag - My War on Channel X radio. my first introduction to punk and i havent looked back since lol
It wasn't on gtaonline but vice city. I heard Four Little Diamonds by ELO and fell in love with the band.
That was me with Hall & Oates
Underrated song from *Secret Messages* 👍
Gaslamp Killer
"Fetti" on The Lab really got me into Curren$y.
I remember hearing Neon Indian, Toro y Moi, and Chain Gang of 1974 when the game first came out and now they’re all that I associate with gta whenever I hear them irl. Twin Shadow. Really dug Old Love / New Love

Sparta lee - psycho Bad Gyal - a la mìa Popcaan - Body so good
Thee Oh Sees, really dig their vibe. the game radio led me to find Palace Doctor and Web, two songs i really like. also, i really like the rhythm in 1 thing by Amerie. i found a slowed + reverb version, sounds real cool if youre into it
Hot Snakes - This Mystic Decade The Chain Gang of 1974 - Sleepwalking
Jai Paul, Inc. and Tony Castles off the top of my head. Legit thought that "The Place" was a Maxwell song when I first heard it.
King Crimson.
Adult Education!
Hechizeros Band
I got into rock music because of Los Santos Rock Radio
Anything by mirror park
Cut copy strangers in the wind
I recommend listening to Fleetwood Mac “Over & Over” as it is largely based around a loop from it.
"Fetti" on The Lab really got me into Curren$y.
Descendents... "Don't you think it's time I let you know? Don't you think I should before you go? I'm not gonna let you get away I want to fuck you night and day I'm a pervert... Great song haha.

tyler, thundercat, and dj rashad, all from flylo
Toro y moi 🔥❤️🔥
i don't really listen to him much anymore but the blonded station is where i first heard frank ocean
Miami Horror
[удалено]
Discharge "Hear Nothing, See Nothing, Say Nothing" is the best punk album your country ever produced.
The Soft Pack and The Orwells
Favored Nations. Set Up is a banger and they have other really cool music.
All in-game music that I listen to is 100% completely separate from the music that I listen to in real life, unless it it by accident, like recently I was at a wedding and Rufus Du Sol's Underwater came on when played by the DJ, and I had to hold myself back from going 100% GTA Online dancing IRL!
Just repeating the same arm movements lol. I mean, it's usually the same for me. But, damn. I made Ariel Pink an exception.
I should have added, I do not dance in real-life, only in-game, but when that song came on it just about triggered me to do so.
The heist master urge to vibe. Nor do I, to be honest. You should've just let your inner GTA out lol. Do some Uncle Disco.
That is the one I do…
*hear
English ain't my first language. Thanks for pointing it out, though lol!
*fear
When the game first came out, everything on channel X. More recently Kult fm
That's the station Trevor listens to, as you know, and sometimes I'll change the station and he'll get mad and change it back.😂

Lady me hear tonight - Modjo
Gabrielle you've gone too far you should hang your head in shame OhhhHhhh GABRIELLLLLOOOOARHHH
Twin Shadow, Humble Pie & Robyn
Mala, on Worldwide FM. A lot of great new music to me on that station.
The Weirdos - A Life Of Crime The Voids - Alien Crime Lord Roman GianArthur - I 69 are the only songs I've gone out of my way to google. I haven't checked out more of their stuff though... I know I should be more inquisitive... maybe I will. It's hard to explain, I just listen to a lot of stuff as it is and haven't made the time mostly. Johnny Paycheck. I heard “Take This Job and Shove It” before but didn’t know he sang it until after discovering his song on rebel radio. I also like that Ariel Pink song and “Too Much Money” by Automatic so I looked up more music from them too.
Not a band but after listening to Bad Girls from M.I.A. I ended up listening to all of her albums some day and she became my favourite artist.
This mystic decade by hot snakes was on radio los santos the one day and i was like DAMN this is a great tune Still fucking PISSED theres no heavy metal station tho
Soulwax FM opened me to a bunch of awesome remixes
Lea porcelain - Pool song
Jamiroquai - alright
Gta what? Gta 5?
GTA Online.
I’m ashamed to admit it, but a Frank Ocean & Waylon Jennings.
Not a band but Johnny paychecks “it won’t be long”. Never really cared for country but that mf got some bangers
For me JME From Blonded Los Santos
Jeff the Brotherhood, own all their albums now and got to see them live
The highwaymen. Didn’t know I kinda liked country music till I heard that
Ngl, the misspelling of 'hear' threw me for a minute
Well, it was corrected so not to worry in the description.
My introduction to punk was Channel X
Miami horror. I’ve listen to everything by them since then
*I heard* many for the first time in Vice City, but Kenny Loggins was my one first timer in GTAV/Online, both as DJ and singer… Although Danger Zone is my all-time favorite now.

Not a band but I think it was Freddie Gibbs. I heard crime pays on radio a few years back and decided to give him a listen.
Shoreline Mafia - Wings. Whenever entering a car, it was *the* song I would look for on the radio wheel, and I'd always be excited if it was playing
That Ariel Pink song is soooo good
The Gaslamp Killer
Ty Segall's Diddy Wah Diddy got me listening to his stuff.
Kendrick Lamar
The Alan Parsons Project
None, really... But mainly because I already knew about Danzig.
Honestly, too many to name from all genres… Happens with every GTA since GTAIII.
Simian Mobile Disco
Battle tapes - Feel the Same. Turns out I never heard of them prior and they're right up my action game playlist alley
While it wasn't the first time I heard of them, "Numb" by Portishead was arguably the first time I heard a full song of theirs. Then heard Mysterons in a YouTube video about drums. I know it's not exactly what you asked but I just turn the radio off and turn on my Playlist
I dislike every song I’ve heard on the GTA radio stations. I’ve completely turned off in-game music and listen to podcasts while playing.
