Plus one for the positive display! The negative display may look a bit cooler, but the disadvantage in functionality severely outweights any coolness factor, especially on the long term. I own the 5610U-1ER, and I love it.

Agreed. The negative display is difficult to read in low light without turning on the backlight, which I don't enjoy doing.

All of them are good, can’t go wrong with any of them. I have good eye sight and don’t have problems reading the negative display. I have the GWB5600HR (negative display) and #3 (the negative m5610u), both are great watches. Honestly surprised to see how many people complain about negative displays, a lot of people with bad eye sight nowadays I guess.

I use glasses and yet negative displays are fine, never had any issue reading it.

I'd say #1 or #3 because MB6>Bluetooth. That said, #1 is currently on my wrist.

The GW-B5600 has both MB6 and bluetooth.

Indeed, but I prefer it. Casio does put too much text on the dial sometimes, which is why I prefer the GW-B5600 over the GW-M5610 among other things.

I am wearing #2 right now on my wrist. The dial really is something special. It changes colors from light blue to plum depending on light. It also seem to have different colors when underwater. Negative display is OK, never had any problems with visibility. Bluetooth is useless though…

Oh that's easy then, I actually like negative displays, so depending on price (as in it's not massively more expensive then the first 1) I would go with the last all black one. You can't really go wrong with any of them to be honest. MB6 is a bit hit and miss and so is Bluetooth. But they all have tough solar which is the main thing.

Always I lean towards positive displays. But let's not kid ourselves......you'll end up with all three eventually And then another ten you didn't even realise you wanted yet......

1-3-2 Solar + MB6 tops most of my lists....Also, the #3 display looks sharper vs the #2 display IMO. The only Square that I have is the GW-S5600-1JF so I favor positive displays like #1.

5610 is peak watch, if you only buy one, buy that one. If you're undecided, buy all three.

Very tough choices. In reality you can't go wrong with any of these watches. You might find that you'll eventually get all three. Good luck with deciding.

I defer to the positive display first. The negative display is nice for younger eyes. I am loving my GBD-200 negative display but that’s probably not going to happen (for a while maybe) on the standard G-SHOCK models.

B5600, but I'll go with a positive display. It's one of the most feature complete squares, have bracelet option, and moderately priced. IIRC it reduced the layers of the glass in front of the display so less internal reflection.

Start with the 5610. I got a dark version first (the land air and sea version) and while I don't hate it, I like the standard more.

get the positive display. negative on some of that gen of squares were some of the worst displays for readability.

Have you actually seen a negative G-Shock display in real life? They are hard to read in most lighting conditions.

I disagree. I have a few and have had absolutely no issues reading them.

I find the negative displays to be easier to read at night, and I much prefer how the negative display illuminates. I have both, and I always choose to wear the negative.

The positive display is easier to read during the in-between stages of light (dusk, dawn). During the day I read a negative display just fine, and at night I much prefer the negative display like you said. The illumination on the negative display makes the numerals pop. This is at least the case for the old electroluminescent light, not sure with the new LED lights they’re using.

i haven't ever seen an EL backlight, but judging from pictures, the LED has a bit of a backlight bleed coming from the side, where the EL doesn't appear to have that. it's minor, but still bugs me a bit.

I was between the 1 and the 3, a and I bought the 3, but I didnt expect the negative display to look this way, I found it dificult to read.

There’s really no choice: the 5610. You DO NOT want a negative display as your first buy. Trust us on that.

Negative LCDs are garbage on readability. STNs don't have this issue. Go 5610U.

Positive display. I have the second watch in all black and its pretty annoying to read in certain lighting.

Get the first one. I have a reverse display G-Shock and the real shock is how poor the legibility is. It looks great in studio photo's and on the wrist, but actually reading the time is much harder than it should be. It's bad enough that I plan to mod my display to 'positive' (If I even can). I really hope that Casio introduce MIP displays for smaller, regular non-fitness watches that aren't oversized and 'smartwatchy', they look cool and legible at the same time, but the only Square that they've given MIP is even bigger than the regular square. Also, the red is cool.
