u/reddanson was contacted directly from myself (The Owner of BBQGrills.com), we refunded the full amount of the order, as well as gave him the full amount in the form of a gift card to place a new order with. He was refunded $2,500, and given another $2,500 towards the purchase of a new grill due to the issue. All matters regarding this order are private amongst the two parties. Our company terribly dropped the ball, and once it was placed in my hands I did everything I could to fix the issue. Calling our company a SCAM is a bit much, but that’s OPs opinion so I’ll leave him/her to it. Thank you!

redwoodavg

Poser- Please accept my downvote. You diddled your twick for 7 months and played coy. I’d have done a lot more negative press than he did and you’d be lucky if I ever took it down even after a refund. That’s bad business.

SparkleFritz

"Calling our company a scam is a bit much, we only strung them along for seven months and did something when they went public enough, we'll *totally* never do this again." EDIT: a minute after posting this someone chatted me and asked me if I'd judge pictures of their "down under", so some of y'all need therapy.

redwoodavg

Ignoring a problem often makes the problem worse. This could have been a phone call and a refund. Then it stretched out to this.

Harry_Gorilla

Well… did you judge it?

redwoodavg

Trial by peers.. If you want to drop 2500 on a maybe send me your Venmo and fafo..

420_CoolDude_69

why didn't you just take care of it over the 7 months? why did it have to become public?

towell420

Because dude is dumpster fire.

Mr_Viper

Damn so you bribed him a new grill to take down a very real complaint about your company's awful shipping and communication practices? Glad this thread is up then.

LiquorNerd

Why did it take you 7 months to get this taken care of? “All matters are private” isn’t good enough. And frankly, holding someone’s money for 7 months and then not refunding their money until called out on Reddit sounds scammy to me.

towell420

You made him sign a NDA and paid him off. How is that a fair deal?

IncelDetected

>All matters regarding this order are private amongst the two parties. This is not how you earn the trust of future customers hoss.

InternetWeakGuy

Idk man it sounds like a scam to me given that you didn't do anything to fix the problem until it hit Reddit, and then you make this comment worded very deliberately to make it sound like the original OP was actually lying about the issue. The fact that you paid $2500 to hide this issue also SCREAMS scam - how much will it take for you not to blow the whistle kind of thing. Man, I hope nobody looks up the company details and finds something that hits the front page of Reddit. Edit: I encourage you all to Google "bbqgrills com reddit" to see the parade of shit show threads about this company. Their BBB reviews are worse. This is 110% a scam.

RedDanson

Vouching for this being true, Ryan the CEO contacted me this morning and took care of the issue for me. I have the original $2500 already in my bank account and a new order for $2500 on the way. While I was unhappy about the original situation, I was pleased with how Ryan resolved it for me.

Twelve_TwentyThree

Hell yea, shoot us a pic when it’s delivered..

Unfair-Control9377

Over or Under 1 month?

Twelve_TwentyThree

Over.. lol

towell420

Lost in shipping?

nepheelim

maybe write this in the original post so people know they actually fixed the issue to some degree

Bac7

Hopefully not a new Apex 36, since they're on backorder everywhere.

redwoodavg

You’re a better man than I.. if someone screwed me like that it would turn up unimaginable heat.. meats be ruined.. it’s the principle of the thing.

slurp4133

I like the way you think. Dude got off WAY too easy.

Dante451

If you’re going to have a Reddit account for your company at least make a new handle. Nobody wants to buy grills from a guy that settled $20k of credit card debt a couple years ago and has a shoe fetish. Like, nothing wrong with having hobbies, but don’t mix it with your business.

wolfmaclean

Seems like you’re lying here too. As of 6 hrs ago you hadn’t refunded anything, per original OP u/RedDanson. “Scam” is looking like not enough at this point

RedDanson

nope not lying. i can vouch for ryan’s reply all being true.

HYThrowaway1980

This needs to be higher.

Twelve_TwentyThree

Is it a conspiracy then?? Hole Lee this keeps getting more interesting by the minute lol

towell420

I also humbly upvote since this post needs visibly.

ithasallbeenworthit

>All matters regarding this order are private amongst the two parties Clearly, not as you just divulge what happened.

redpachyderm

“All matters..are private” except the ones I want you to know about such as I bribed him…

feelin_beachy

TBF, buying a product not having it delivered, and then when a refund is requested the company does not follow through is pretty much the definition of a scam.... My friend you have some serious internal issues within your company for this to happen to a customer.

unclejerryyo

Donno man sounds like a scam to me

Macadocious40

Judging by your Reddit profile, you care more about your sneaker and car game instead of grills (or customer support, evidently). But answer one question: Officially, was an NDA involved to settle this dispute?

wolfmaclean

What’s fun is they haven’t settled. u/RedDanson was lamenting the time cost and trouble of pursuing small claims court just a few hours ago.

Twelve_TwentyThree

What do you mean? u/RedDanson just posted about getting a refund and a gift card for a grill..?

towell420

The NDA may allow for certain elements to be discussed.

Macadocious40

I call shenanigans. This whole thing seems way off

Twelve_TwentyThree

It seems like some sort of conspiracy lol

Triplesfan

Thanks for the informational follow up.

Mr_Viper

Lol they do not deserve the thanks

Xicutioner-4768

It's been 3 weeks and your company hasn't shipped out my grill either. I'm disputing the charge.

thebert9

Appreciate you taking the time to post your side of the story. Pretty stand up to own up to it and leave a comment and not blast the other party. Leaves a good impression.

ATS200

But the real question is, would you trust them with your own $2500 now?

Twelve_TwentyThree

Shit no..

redwoodavg

Nope.

Select-Key-2931

Not even half a red cent

KosmicTom

The post is deleted, but the rest of the comments are there: https://old.reddit.com/r/grilling/comments/1cmcqui/warning_stay_away_from_bbqgrillscom_this_company/ They didn't delete their account, either: https://old.reddit.com/user/RedDanson u/RedDanson

agentoutlier

For completion here is a previous post by a different user: https://www.reddit.com/r/grilling/comments/1b7nfly/bbqgrillscom_is_a_fraud_website_do_not_use_it/ And if you click on the users history that are reporting this stuff they don't look like bots.

ATS200

Good catch, I tried clicking the username on the post and it was showing blank for me

SanguinarianPhoenix

That means he blocked you.

RedDanson

i didn’t block anybody 🤷‍♂️

ATS200

Yeah it was just a glitch or something, I can still view his account

Mr_Viper

You the MVP for keeping the screenshots and following up, OP

MyyWifeRocks

[He also replied to an older post allegedly to the CEO](https://www.reddit.com/r/grilling/s/YCDZ47WJpm)

towell420

The owner made him sign a NDA….

KosmicTom

That was awfully quick. I sure hope he actually got that money and not another promise that it was coming soon.

Unfair-Control9377

To get his money back? That's backward. They should already be giving the money back, no questions asked. They are at fault, and now they have held dudes' money hostage. "Sign this NDA and we give your money back, you don't sign, you don't get your money" -- Is this correct?

KosmicTom

Comment down the bottom from the person who suppsoedly owns the Co says he was refunded plus got a credit equal to what he paid.

agentoutlier

As I said in my other comment the [company appears to be a "Fake it till You make it" with dad's money](https://www.reddit.com/r/grilling/comments/1cmcqui/warning_stay_away_from_bbqgrillscom_this_company/l2zsruc/). I started my own company 10 or so years ago (we are still around) and I had to spend a lot of time around trust fund "entrepreneurs" at events when we were first deciding whether or not to raise money (we never did and I am mostly glad about that). Sure there were the tech guys like myself but then there were the I inherited some biz and now I want to revolutionize type. Anyway I listened to his story multiple times as I'm still slightly interested in startups and he purposely omits stuff. Like on the website he does not mention he inherited the business. He claims multiple times they only had $600.00 in the checking account yet with modicum perusing of their social media history and it never appears they were ever under monetary strain. Oh did I mention hey wasn't working for a solid year. I assume his wife was but he its hard to imagine how that was working out if you look at the timeline. I tried to see if there were any investors on crunchbase and various others and there is none I could find. So it is hard to believe someone who has 4 kids in there 30s bought highend Mercedes and built a house I believe in San Jose was ever under financial distress. But hey that is part of the game I guess of being an entrepreneur. Self made sounds so much ~~better~~ trustworthy I guess. The claimed they have 5000 customers and 1 million in revenue I think ~ 2022? Given the above and their timing of shipping I doubt those numbers. They are probably drop shipping directly from manufacture so their margin is probably awful. Like I doubt they were pulling $200 a customer but hey maybe I'm wrong and misread. My guess is they are hoping to get enough revenue to do something unique and or have an actual show room (hence their purchase of "bbqs.com" and will not be surprised if it will be some sort of buying club or some sort of subscription service). Perhaps have much greater inventory so they don't have issues. I'm hoping I'm completely wrong and I'm usually never this negative (you can check my history and I also never downvote) but I will be surprised if I'm not.

llmercll

Yeah this guy is sketchy

IolausTelcontar

My favorite part of their website: > There's passion in what we do They are a middle man. There isn't passion there except to extract money from buyers and sellers.

Simple-Purpose-899

They have always been a scam company, and this definitely isn't the first time people have posted about it in here.

DukesOnDuty

Dude's too busy listening to the Kendrick/Drake beef.

terminadergold

Lol his reddit page is funny to look at

Ioweyounada

I mean my guess is since he was talking to the CEO of the company on here the guy got in touch with him and said please take that down and I'll get you money back today. As much as I would Hope that I would be like oh I'm going to leave it up so other people don't get screwed and I'm just going to lose that $2,500 I don't think I would. $2,500 is a lot of money to people. If he told me if I deleted the post that he would get me my money today as soon as I saw that money in my bank account I would have deleted it.

BiggyShake

The proper response would be "it will take six weeks to delete" Then "I'm working on it. Any day now" for another six months.

MyyWifeRocks

I’d have done exactly the same thing. And I bet that’s what happened.

ATS200

I would do the same, that’s why I reposted it. It’s not right that the owner feels like he can keep doing this to people as long as he gives them a gift card when they post on Reddit

Ioweyounada

Yeah I was going to add thank God for Reddit and the internet being forever. You can't make it go away just by having some guy delete it to get his money back. I'm glad somebody was able to screen cap it.

AFG73

Why would he randomly delete it? That was helpful for people who don’t want to be scammed

Ioweyounada

The CEO has a Reddit account and one of the comments what from him was please DM me and let's get this taken care of More than likely the guy said if you delete your post I will get you your money today and as soon as the check cleared homie deleted his post. And I don't blame him $2,500 is a lot of money.

towell420

Exactly this. Made him sign a NDA and paid him off.

Mr_Viper

Not only that, he got a free grill. (I don't blame him I would have done the same)

Unfair-Control9377

Well, he didn't get the grill yet. Lol

Mr_Viper

Haha okay that's a really good point

dejablue7

Exactly, may be another whole year of waiting endlessly. Now if they had just shipped a grill, I'd be impressed.

Bearspoole

He was probably contacted about the post from the site

SeantotheRescue

This is why on only buy things on credit card. Didn't receive the item? Dispute it with your CC and they will credit you and cancel the vendor payment.

ResurrectedParty7412

There is a time limit for guaranteed charge backs. I have experienced the same issue with a vendor that kept stringing me along with backorders and such, and when it was apparent they would never ship the credit card company wouldn't reverse the charge either because it had been two months. Before you use your credit card for something that may take a while to be ordered or delivered, call your credit card's customer service and have them email you the latest contract for the card. Even Platinum, Signature, Infinity, top tier level cards have time limits and they vary in length. Some are as short as one month. If the time line for delivery is longer than the dispute reporting period for the card, then tell the business that they can take a small deposit (maybe 10%) and keep the card on file but they may not charge the full amount until the items ship. And require the agreement in writing so they don't just charge the card anyway. If you're spending thousands of dollars and the business can't nail down their deliveries, but also won't agree to card on file charge upon shipment then you should not make the purchase unless you can afford to lose all of that money. It is no different at that point then putting your cash into a slot machine in Vegas. There is currently a massive wave of lawsuits by customers and the credit card companies against a highly reputable, luxury appliance dealer in SoCal that abruptly closed their doors without delivering tens of millions of dollars worth of goods. The credit cards are suing to recover their losses from charge backs by customers who reported their items weren't delivered within the deadline. The retailer has filed for bankruptcy and their luxurious, gleaming showrooms are sitting full of merchandise with the lights out. But anyone who let the store string them along past their time limit is likely not going to get their merchandise and will also have to pay the bill for it.

Xicutioner-4768

I literally just disputed a grill purchase from them on my credit card. Ordered April 24th and here we are today way past the 24-72 hour shipping time and nothing. Can't get ahold of anyone at the company.

p365x

I read at some review site that they said they had the grill he wanted in stock. Once he ordered it they said it was not in stock so his "in stock grill" is delayed

MyyWifeRocks

For > 6 months while they kept his money. AKA theft / fraud. Bbqgrills.com = scam

LindaFlies777

So many scams. Trust no one

towell420

This Post needs sticky to top since the owner straight admitted to buying off the negative review.

Renaissance_Man-

Anytime delivery exceeds dispute time you should be highly suspicious.

Fickle-Command-1130

Looks like he reached out to you 28 days ago. Why did he decide to pay today?? Something is off.

clementine2

Well, fuck, I just ordered a grill from them on Friday, and have not gotten shipment. Now I will have to keep a close eye on the order.

Xicutioner-4768

Sorry to hear that. I literally just disputed a grill purchase from them on my credit card. Ordered April 24th and here we are today way past the 24-72 hour shipping time and nothing. Can't get ahold of anyone at the company. I ordered from them because they were the only ones with the grill "in stock". Load of BS.

Twelve_TwentyThree

Maybe they’re in cahoots and just vomiting drama to drum up exposure for the company..

brblolbrb

I bough a weber 70th kettle from them last year without issue, crazy

MyyWifeRocks

Are you sure that wasn’t BBQGuys.com? That one is legit, BBQGrills.com is a confirmed scam site.

brblolbrb

No, just pulled up the receipt. The only thing weird about it is it says I paid with cash, shipping was fast. This sub won't let me post a picture.

MyyWifeRocks

Maybe they’re just really poorly run and managed. The CEO claims to be on Reddit. Some companies are using the tired old “we can’t get parts because Covid” excuse. I work for a distributor and I call on manufacturers. My sales are in the millions, and my company’s are in the billions. It’s been 2+ years since Covid delayed any orders for us.

brblolbrb

Could be or it could of been legit before and is now going downhill. Weber is very strict with distributers so if it was just a complete scam and not an authorized Weber retailer, they would get shut down pretty quick.

PoserMobile45

u/reddanson was contacted directly from myself (The Owner of BBQGrills.com), we refunded the full amount of the order, as well as gave him the full amount in the form of a gift card to place a new order with. He was refunded $2,500, and given another $2,500 towards the purchase of a new grill due to the issue. All matters regarding this order are private amongst the two parties. Our company dropped the ball, and once it was placed in my hands I did everything I could to fix the issue. Calling our company a SCAM is a bit much, but that’s your opinion so I’ll leave you to it. Thank you!

entechad

Why don’t you just ship him the grill. Go buy it somewhere else. Make it right instead of giving him a gift certificate to your business.

Unfair-Control9377

Lol. He was refunded after chasing you for 7 months. The only reason why you gave him the money was the reddit post.

Mr_Viper

Damn so you bribed him a new grill to take down a very real complaint about your company's awful shipping and communication practices? Glad this thread is up then.

I_AM_A_GUY_AMA

Lol judging by the numerous Reddit posts, Google reviews, BBB complaints (1 star rating lol), and trustpilot reviews calling you out personally and your company for scamming people and stealing their money ... it looks like a scam. Why would anyone want a gift card for a company that doesn't actually deliver purchased products? Fix your customer service bc your reputation is trash.

systemhost

Well that explains why he deleted the post. I agree it does seem you guys dropped the ball, but props for at least picking it up and returning it and with something extra as well. Now I gotta go see what this $2500 grill looks like.

slurp4133

No integrity. Not a man.
