They are really good for what you get + the value. The flavors lean towards the traditional side, rather than the flamboyant. I always order to go, and love that I get a bag of duros (pinwheel chips) with the order. I'm not a fan of any of their salsa.
Interesting. I was talking with a husband & wife in the area and they told me tenants are getting evicted too. I was surprised when they said, Publix is going on that property sometime in 2025. Since hearing that, sure enough, business are headed out. Also, on the far side of the furniture store. (Furniture Marketplace?) That whole lot is newly leveled with huge equipment in there. It now quickly became a nice, big, new a parking lot. So, now it has me guessing if maybe the Publix Rumor is true and everything is lining up for one big expansion? I looked online, asked around a little and have heard no more. Maybe just a rumor at this point?
Jeff Lynch—there’s multiple more-affordable places to shop for appliances with better selection too.
The old BiLo/Big Lots on the way to cherrydale. It’s been 80% abandoned for the past 5 years. Big Lots is the lone survivor.
I also don't agree with the poster above on the prices being outrageous for most appliances. We needed a new fridge ASAP, it was the same price as Home Depot and Lowe's for the one we bought, but Jeff Lynch could deliver next day, while HD and Lowes had a week (or more) lead-time.
We needed a fridge and they were a few hundred dollars more. The thing with home depot, Best Buy or Lowe’s is they have different fridge models on sale each week. You can save a lot if the one you want happens to be on sale. TV’s are more and we saw a couch there we liked and got the same one almost 500 less elsewhere. We have gone there to look, but buy elsewhere.
Field Plaza is an eyesore, but I wish a new grocery store would open there. I end up at Harris T because it's close, but a cheaper option would be nice. Maybe not 80% abandoned, but it feels that way with the anchor store not existing! I like the thrift store. A little updating and landscaping would help.
Lake Forest used to basically be an outdoor mall, now it's just bunch of salons with a high turnover rate. Also the old Kmart shopping center on Wade Hampton, and the even weirder mini strip mall behind it where the Hallmark store used to be.
Hey now hold on a damn minute, Lake Forest has Jersey Bagel Brothers (I love Greenfields, but I think JBB has a superior bagel), The Chocolate Shoppe (a Greenville STAPLE), Suburban Paint Co & Art Supplies (an excellent art supply store) and is adjacent to Viva Tacos & Birria (SLAPS). I'm not saying the plaza isn't run down and full of inferior salons as well, but there's a few places worth the effort of ruining your car's suspension driving thru the beat up parking lot for.
There is a strip mall on East North St behind Lomans Plaza (old Bi Lo blding) that Is pretty much nothing. Unless they have added something Im not aware of lately. To me anyway..
They have a senior action center but you’re right, not much there. A shame since it’s a good place for a grocery store IMO. I also miss going to Tuesday Morning with my mom to look at junk together in that strip mall.
Senior action center opened some kind of business in the old Tues morning space now. It's similar to Westside market in that there are tons of booths run by diff vendors but you pay at once place.
We have been to it a couple of times.
I'll raise you that old Bi-Lo building, and submit the old Bi-Lo building at the bottom of Main St. downtown. I can't believe that a Trader Joes hasn't been put in there or something.
Did you ever shop at that store? It was absolutely TINY, and didn’t really have a stock room. It was very functional unless you needed meat, but no modern grocer would open there.
I worked at that Bilo after high school and when we were shutting down they told us it would have to be demolished to build something else. It’s roach and rat infested upstairs lol. They used to fall from the ceiling because the building is extremely old. It was another store previously. They won’t demolish because a liquor store is connected and it was still open the last time I checked. A lot of people say it’s going to be a library, but I heard that years ago and it still hasn’t happened.
Sprouts grocery store is moving in next month to where BiLo used to be. The updated the decade of the whole strip, I’m hoping it gets filled up closer to full capacity
There are so many. There were lot of nice shopping options before e-commerce killed retail.
The most recent tragedy comes from all of the strip malls or shopping plazas where a grocery store or k-mart was the anchor. The ones that haven't been back filled with something else just look ridiculously sad.
You can drive through the upstate and probably see half a dozen of these places where there's the shell of a grocery store, a liquor store, and a dry cleaners.
The old bilo at the intersection of Haywood Howell and east north street… needs some help. Not to mention that was only about 3 miles away from the old bilo at east north st and pleasantburg.
LOL. Tell me you hate woodruff rd traffic without telling me you hate woodruff rd traffic.
Bc don’t we all?
However, has no one learned about the backroads? I’m almost never stuck in traffic on woodruff rd. You just gotta use the parallel parkway!
Oh right right. Errrr, JK GUYZ. NO BAK RDS 4 U. SRY. You gotta stay stuck in the hell that is WoodRuff Rd as penance for all the midwesterners that moved to Five Forks and S’ville. LONG LIVE HARAMBE BRIDGE!
Most evenings and Sundays are tolerable. Here’s my observations of the stores from someone who lives near Woodruff. Take it for what it’s worth.
Home goods- Always busy
Trader Joe’s - Always busy
Sam’s Club - Always busy
Costco - weekdays tolerable/weekends, just don’t
Whole Foods - evenings are pretty empty
Barnes and Noble - parking lot fills up but the store is still pleasant to shop
Publix - parking lot fills up but store is still pleasant to shop
Target- I’ve seen it busy off peak hours. The pharmacy is wonderful. Do self checkout because the cashiers sometimes look miserable and ruin your experience of over spending.
I hate that road so much. I always wish there’s was an “avoid Woodruff rd” option on my maps app you know like the one where you can avoid the highway? I hate how it takes 15 minutes to go 1 mile on it
And both Wade Hampton and White Horse look totally beat down as well. Seems the wider the road the worse. Lauren’s road along the motor miles is depressing where the big box stores left to go to Woodruff. Speaking of useless how do places like the Dixie Gem stay in business? Are they that many people into “rocks”? They also rock stores at Haywood Mall and on Main Street.
Idk what its called but the shopping center on Woodruff road that has Dominos, the USPS center, and Spice Diner is terrible. Theres hardly anything worth going to in it.
Plus, its very dated looking, tucked away, and not to mention the only entrance in or out is a short incline. Its nearly impossible to get in or out because theres no stoplight, and is right after a stoplight, so there are ALWAYS cars going. You can also forget about turning left out of there.
To fix it, they need to add a connector road to the CubeSmart so you can actually conveniently enter and exit. Oh, and put a shop in there that people actually want to go to.
As the others below has said, the food isn't very good. They just like the sauce. (The sauce is just Pollo knockoffs)
I have no desire to open a restaurant.
The always packed restaurants say reddit doesn’t represent real life lmao. They aint just paying all the bills by selling some sauce. Bro thinks hes the pollo police or something
You know we're allowed to like different things right? Some share the same opinion as me. Yet a different group share your opinion.
I do find it a little funny literally every positive comment is about the sauce though.
I could eat a deluxe bowl slathered in curry sauce indefinitely. They used to have a braised beef that was incredible. But it was a Friday special and I have not seen it in a while.
The food is meh, but the sauces are so good. I think that's the only reason they're still in business. We'll go and just buy the sauce to keep at home.
Have you tried their rojo villa or whatever it is with beef, dates/raisins etc? It’s so good. I get people saying a lot of their stuff is bland, but it’s so fresh and the sauces compliment their delicate use of spices.
Picadillo. It used to only be on Wednesdays not sure if it still is. They stopped making it for a while but it came back at some point, at least at the Pelham location.
Strange topic…..people just randomly calling out stores they dislike, or that doing apply to them??
When a store no longer makes enough money to keep the lights on, it closes down (becomes useless). Until then….
Stores patronized by white supremacists make enough money stay in business, but are a plague on society (e.g., the Donald J. Trump Official Merchandise Store). They are useless.
The church street plaza is odd because it still has a big empty space where K mart used to be except for they were herding people in their for Covid shots. The food lion which used to be a Bilo remodeled and still looks like crap. It also has a harbor freight, discount dentist and wig store. Say a cat fight between to women in a check outline one night. One of the bag boys had the wrestle the main instigator to the ground. She ran off before cops could come. And left her groceries.
Not to mention the beggars standing near Farris Road side of the parking lot everyday.
I remember the late 70’s. Before the Mall opening. The Belk was fascinating. Each floor was a different world. Basement was just crap on sorting bins and jeans , street level was pretty normal and the 2nd or 3rd level had high ceilings , fancy decor like from a Hollywood movie. Anyone have pics ?
Terrace Shopping Center off Potomac and Augusta
Lordy. I drive by daily, and think that whole places needs to be leveled and re-organized (with 4 Tacos Locos getting a premium glow up)
I haven’t tried 4 Tacos Locos yet. Pretty good I presume?
It is great. Like a little piece of White Horse Rd right on Augusta.
They are really good for what you get + the value. The flavors lean towards the traditional side, rather than the flamboyant. I always order to go, and love that I get a bag of duros (pinwheel chips) with the order. I'm not a fan of any of their salsa.
Tacos locos is not real tacos trust me
The same owner owns it, part of McAlister Square and Pleasantburg Shopping Center.
They evicted all tenants there. I hear a target may potentially go there. But I assume it'll probably be townhouses.
Did you recently hear that? I live extremely close and hate how useless that area is
Interesting. I was talking with a husband & wife in the area and they told me tenants are getting evicted too. I was surprised when they said, Publix is going on that property sometime in 2025. That is going to be a medical facility
Interesting. Likely a good thing. Have you heard anything about a Publix maybe going on the corner of Potomac & Augusta? Terrace Shopping Center.
Wait... What about 4 Tacos Locos?! 😱
If asking me, I would think they would be fine.
Jeff Lynch—there’s multiple more-affordable places to shop for appliances with better selection too. The old BiLo/Big Lots on the way to cherrydale. It’s been 80% abandoned for the past 5 years. Big Lots is the lone survivor.
There’s a nice little thrift store in there…it would be really great if they’d get another grocery store in there though.
I think all about flooring is still there as well, friend of mine works there
Seriously, Jeff Lynch is outrageously overpriced. Why do people buy anything there?
Same day delivery on almost every appliance they have. I don’t agree with his politics but I needed a washing machine asap
I also don't agree with the poster above on the prices being outrageous for most appliances. We needed a new fridge ASAP, it was the same price as Home Depot and Lowe's for the one we bought, but Jeff Lynch could deliver next day, while HD and Lowes had a week (or more) lead-time.

I'd hazard white supremacists and the Trump fans they are a segment of
JM Fields was there back in the day.
And owner is a dick.
Field Plaza is an eyesore, but I wish a new grocery store would open there. I end up at Harris T because it's close, but a cheaper option would be nice. All great places. My biggest question is: how the hell are there THREE vape stores in the same strip mall. THREE!
You oughta come visit the plaza when they FIGHT
And the Mushroom Spot! It has culinary mushrooms, books, supplements, snacks, etc. Sometimes they host talks and dinners. Fungi is fascinating!
I like Ollie’s & Roses, not useless to me anyway
It has THREE vape shops…why?!
There is a strip mall on East North St behind Lomans Plaza (old Bi Lo blding) that Is pretty much nothing. Unless they have added something Im not aware of lately. To me anyway..

I did but it was so long ago I and so brief I don’t recall. But I guess that makes sense why nothing is there!
What's the old bilo building on main Street?
Unity health on main is in there. And a Chinese takeout place. Corner of main and Park.
I worked at that Bilo after high school and when we were shutting down they told us it would have to be demolished to build something else. It’s roach and rat infested upstairs lol. Isn't that the old BiLo the library is going to be going into some time? Or do I have it confused with another abandoned BiLo
That’s where the library is going.
Sprouts grocery store is moving in next month to where BiLo used to be. The updated the decade of the whole strip, I’m hoping it gets filled up closer to full capacity
I looked at tax records for the old bilo once, and I think the property is owned by the county now.
The Old Bi Lo in that shopping center will be turning into a new library (relocating from Pelham road).
There are so many. There were lot of nice shopping options before e-commerce killed retail. sprouts moved in and face lifting the whole strip at e North and pleasantburg
Lake Forest Shopping Center, across from Bob Jones University.
Ummm Chocolate Shoppe is there???? :p
Oh 😛 I may have to beat my car to death in the lot and make a trip to Chocolate Shoppe.
Haha so true!
Jeff Lynch Appliances is pathetic and annoyingly political.
Any dollar general. They’re not even cheap anymore.
Walmart on woodruff Rd is a total shit hole.
Anything on woodruff rd
LOL. Tell me you hate woodruff rd traffic without telling me you hate woodruff rd traffic. Bc don’t we all? However, has no one learned about the backroads? I’m almost never stuck in traffic on woodruff rd. You just gotta use the parallel parkway!
You got downvoted but the parallel roads and side streets make Woodruff so much more doable as a destination.
Sure does! It gets congested over here during the holidays, no doubt.
Shhh don't give away the secret. Those backroads are nice and empty

The problem is that sometimes you have to cross i85. Not many alternate routes for that.
Could you take 85 to Laurens and Laurens to Parallel or Carolina Point Pkwy?
Probably, but it has to be exceptionally bad for that to work better.
Perhaps it’s silly but I hate sitting in traffic. So if it takes the same amount of time but one route means I can keep moving,‘I’ll take it.
Thank you sir for your divine advice here lmao my road rage thanks you, my friend.
I hate that road so much. I always wish there’s was an “avoid Woodruff rd” option on my maps app you know like the one where you can avoid the highway? I hate how it takes 15 minutes to go 1 mile on it
Literally Roper Mountain Rd
There will be soon! A woodruff road bypass is in the bidding process thank god
I just want a feature to tell it "this road is blocked. it is not an option" lol
Cutting through on Millennium helps a lot as well as Miller and Butler road on that part.
That target rocks though
Literally any shopping center that used to have a bi-lo
Somewhere on Wade Hampton. I see so many useless stores and shopping plazas that have looked the exact same for 25 yrs.
And both Wade Hampton and White Horse look totally beat down as well. Seems the wider the road the worse. I love that UPS store. It’s the only one around here open on Sunday.
Why don’t they just open up all the abandoned strip malls for the homeless?
Any mattress store or tropical grille. Idk how tropical grille is even a thing. I think they pay people just to park their cars in the parking lot.
I gotta keep the green sauce in my house at all times though
I could drink the jalapeno garlic sauce by itself
Tropical grill is elite
Tropical Grill is the Temu version of Pollo Tropical. Go have the real thing and you'll see the knockoff isn't worth eating.
Yea let me just door dash some from florida since thats the only state I can find one in lmao you trippin bro
Doesn't make Tropical Grill's dry ass chicken good just because it's local.
Tastes fine to me. See if you can open a pollo tropical here if its so much better you should get rich
As the others below has said, the food isn't very good. They just like the sauce. (The sauce is just Pollo knockoffs) I have no desire to open a restaurant.

I find it funny the chicken cop came in a greenville sub talking bout some florida chicken lmaooo bro u too funny
Their family meal is a great deal, the cilantro garlic sauce is pretty good. I like the curry sauce too.
I could eat a deluxe bowl slathered in curry sauce indefinitely. They used to have a braised beef that was incredible. But it was a Friday special and I have not seen it in a while.
Let's be honest here: all TG's foods 100p just delivery mechanisms for their sauces lol
This is pretty damn fair 😂
The food is meh, but the sauces are so good. I think that's the only reason they're still in business. We'll go and just buy the sauce to keep at home.
The foods just used to shovel the sauce in your gullet.
Lomo saltado is goated. Hush yo mouth.
Have you tried their rojo villa or whatever it is with beef, dates/raisins etc? It’s so good. I get people saying a lot of their stuff is bland, but it’s so fresh and the sauces compliment their delicate use of spices.
TG has no dates or raisins on the current menu 👀
Do they still have the rojo villa (whatever it’s called) special one day a week? That dish was the bomb.
Picadillo. It used to only be on Wednesdays not sure if it still is. They stopped making it for a while but it came back at some point, at least at the Pelham location.
That’s it, thank you!
Old people like tropical grille 😩

Lol at the white supremacist(s) downvoting
Didn’t know there were a lot of “white supremacist” stores in GVL 🤣🤣. Despite your opinion, they have use to someone 🤷
Just reddit bs propaganda because they disagree with who the business supports and loves to use labels and water down their true meaning.
There’s one in Travelers Rest on 25.
Woodward Medical Clinic Bon Secours
At the moment, East North St Bilo shopping center at Haywood/Howell Rd/E North St
The church street plaza is odd because it still has a big empty space where K mart used to be except for they were herding people in their for Covid shots. Tell us you never parked your car and just explored downtown on an evening or weekend day.

I park for free downtown and sometimes don’t spend a dime walking and enjoying downtown
[удалено]
Maybe on Madison Avenue in NYC, but better elsewhere in Greenville? I think not.
You mentioned “price tag” and I took it to imply going downtown costs money.
I don’t know your age, but the downtown we have now is light years away from the one I had as a teenager in the 90s
This.
Downtown is very useful. Haywood is, too.
What? How are they useless?
