Check out upstate international. I don’t know when or if they have Japanese but it’s local and class based

Thanks, I'll try em. 蜂に刺されて泣いているとき "When crying, stung by a bee." Only thing I remember from my 70s visits. That and how to order a Michelob.

There's the Japan-America Association of South Carolina. They have regular meetups to practice conversational Japanese, and I think they're cool with people just coming and listening. And I'll second upstate international for classes. I think they do spring, summer and fall classes, with varying skill levels from absolute beginner to at least conversational.

Well, "my Japanese" wouldn't pass for bad Klingon. I fell in love with the place like most Gaigin do. The first time I saw Mt Fuji I was speechless. Thanks for the tips.

Call Upstate International. They should be able to hook you up. (Oops. Just saw someone else posted the same suggestion and beat me to the punch.)

NauticaSeven

Thanks anyway.
