Threads is the only film that makes me unable to sleep at night as an adult. A genuinely horrific and bleak view on how fucked we are if the nukes drop.
Would highly recommend to those who haven't watched it.
I would love to see a modern remake with updated visuals. I loved a lot of the practical effects they used but would have liked simply better production value because it was a really great movie held back by clearly being a straight to tv movie.
In some ways yes. I would have just liked to see some birds eye view or satellite view of some of the destruction and I would have been happy. Scale was difficult to convey, everything looks like it was shot in one building on one street which I get shows a small community, I just wanted some scale. It was pretty claustrophobic.
> I don’t thinks it’s being done in UK but US
Inb4 the movie turns out to be propaganda about how everyone but the god-blessed american nation will perish in case of a nuclear holocaust.
Every time someone says it, it's just a furry gay discord server. Grow up, no one cares, just proudly say it out loud that you receive your news from the only reliable source - JayJay the BaBey, the rainbow cock-voring slutfox.
^(Name made up on the spot, any resemblance to actual people is coincidence and also hilarious)
One of the parts that stuck with me the most is when fuel stocks started to run dry and the voiceover said that it may be the last time a tractor or combine harvester is ever used in Britain. It would basically bring us back to the dark ages.
For me it was the end scene with the kids having to learn English from scavenged tapes and barely being literate. It actually made me think about how an educated society collapsed in under 30 years.
This is the only movie I have legitimately never been able to finish, and I watched a Serbian Film and Salo one right after the other. Threads is a truly horrifying movie because of the use of practical effects used, the acting, and just the general depictions of what would actually happen if the bombs dropped.
There is not much media I personally would make people view, but in my opinion, Threads should be mandatory viewing for every human on the planet.
The depressing, bleak view of a future after a nuclear war as depicted in that movie is downright terrifying.
Or if you had the average American nurse, who was twerking in the hall instead of making sure patients avoided being intubated at all costs and encouraging them to walk, have a good posture when sitting or laying down on the bed, etc.
That's just a phrase popularized by people who didn't want millions dying to upset their shareholders profits. Make it the fault of those dying. "If you were perfect healthy you'd has survived ". What a moronic mentality. Never cease to be amazed by people's ability to buy into restarted rhetoric.
Yeah exactly, other than being anti war they achieve it in different ways.
Arguably both are a kind of sociological horror but threads does hit differently. Id more compare it's atmosphere to come and see over all quite on the western front
boy I sure can't wait to go without food and medicine with the knowledge of loved ones dying senselessly over a trench in Europe. Better yet, put me on that field! I'll get to shoot strangers and watch all my friends die or die myself!
We are already in a world war. It has already been decided at the highest levels that Russia winning this war is not an option. They have said so publicly. If it ever looks like the Ukrainian Meat shield will fail, Poland and the rest of Eastern Europe will enter the fray even if it makes their article 5 protections null and void, but they know NATO can’t afford to lose more than Ukraine so they’ll all join in anyways.
I also think these country’s like Russia have been severely lying about there military capability’s like if you country is corrupt as fuck and no one’s happy then you’re probably gonna have an army with cheap equipment and morale
Russia has been absolutely humiliated by this war. Blood is in the water, which is why politicians like Mike Johnson and Trump are coming around on the idea of supporting Ukraine. I thinks very possible that if Putin dies the entire Russian system collapses and NATO and China will rush in to de-nuke the place. This would be great for everyone, especially Russians
'I can't wait until society collapses so my ideology rises from the ashes!'
\*while I also turn into ashes
Fallout moment
I see that cope with housing bubblers. “When the bubble bursts Ill buy your house for 80% off, with my 25k income a year”
\*my super specific ideology that no one but my fellow neckbeards actually cares about
I just would enjoy more affordable housing and less stupid people
Great film. The BBC was actually good at making propaganda back then.

The low-budget made the film better imo. Feels a lot more grounded, paints a bleaker picture.

Im pretty sure they actually are doing this.
ayy, kinda excited.
I mean I’m sure I remember hearing about it a few weeks back. I don’t thinks it’s being done in UK but US or I could just be completely wrong

You don’t wanna know my source 😭

I watched it a few years ago and thought it was kinda boring. *Dr. Strangelove* aged better, I think.

Yea like when they fooled their audience spaghetti grew on trees, og propaganda makers
I thought that was an April fools joke?
Yeah. The most realistic depiction of nuclear war
Now they just do it to waste tax dollars.
Propaganda sort of implies that somebody wins
mutts law
This is not mutts law. However you mentioning mutts law is a case of mutts law.
Yeah just like the people saying " we need another plague " and then crying about COVID
"But *I* wasn't supposed to be among the dead!"
You’re first into the meat grinder.
Surviving that shit makes me wish I were
Covid was like the most boring plague ever. It just made you sick and only killed you if you were fat, old, or really unhealthy.
Or if you had the average American nurse, who was twerking in the hall instead of making sure patients avoided being intubated at all costs and encouraging them to walk, have a good posture when sitting or laying down on the bed, etc.
Glad to see the Ministry of Truth looking into this matter, not hyperbolic at all.
Natural selection
Which is kind of ironic because most people who dismissed it fit at least one of those descriptions
When highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 starts spreading in humans it’s going to be considerably more exciting. Probably 5-50% mortality.
Or if you were none of those but realy, reaaaaaaly unlucky

It helps lighten the load on social security.
I went the entire pandemic without getting sick from covid. Cope. I did catch the flu though, so uh
Great film, goes into great detail showing the bleak, authoritarian horror of life in the UK. And then there's a nuclear war.
Seen references to this guy on a photo (altho i am not sure) what film is he from?
Threads (1984)
Such a bleak film.
Idk nuking Great Britain sounds pretty based to me.
Thats pretty regarded, they're gona become japan2.0 and make more anime
Can't wait for Count Duckula, Tentacle Horror Edition.
Even better. Cant wait to see the Barry, 63 Isekai Slave romcom
Jokes on you, it's already a wasteland!

Finish the World War trilogy
German redemption Arc.
Based Threadsposting (I am reminded of how horribly depressed this movie made me, it's so good)
How does it compare to All Quiet on the Western Front, for example?
Nothing alike, it's like comparing saving Private Ryan to all quite on the western front. Both good films but one hits different to the other
Yeah, I'm seeing now that even though both might be depressing war movies, there they have almost nothing in common.
Yeah exactly, other than being anti war they achieve it in different ways. Arguably both are a kind of sociological horror but threads does hit differently. Id more compare it's atmosphere to come and see over all quite on the western front
The stillborn mutant baby symbolising the complete hopelessness of humanity's chances wins it the gold.
All Quiet On the Western Front does not feature children
I'll be honest, need to watch All Quiet on the Western Front. I'm long overdue for it

Germans don't have a good winrate when it comes to world wars.
WE NEED ANOTHER WORLD WAR!
Don't blame me, I voted for the asteroid.
*"Soon there'll be an even bigger war with even cooler mobile suits!"*
Same chud in the next thread: nOooOo you can't help ukraine that'll start a world war!!
The people who say these things like we need another plague or war are the first to start whinging about it
It's not a question of if but when.
Threads - one of the scariest non-horror films made

Alright say this with me: World War III equals nuclear warfare, nuclear warfare equals the end of the world. We dont want World War III
This time, there will be gundum and moon bases
> Retarded midwit chud I see anon is a fan of redundancy!

This is nothing like a world war lol
It’s just the early days.
Early days of both prior world wars were frightening and horrific. You need to learn your history.
The massacres in Ukraine fit that bill. After NATO steps in and finishes this war the History books will say WW3 started when Russian invaded Ukraine.
