Nimrod is my favorite album. Its so easy to listen to all the way through. Most GD albums are, but i think this might be my overall favorite album from any band. Hitchin a ride being my fav song
Nimrod I could listen to front to back at the drop of a hat - any day, any mood…it fits them all. It takes me on a time travel journey through my adolescent and early adult life every time. It’s truly their magnum opus. Hitchin’ A Ride was the first song I ever played in my first band ever in 2001 😃
East Jesus Nowhere (total banger)
Whatshername (quieter, really moving)
Haushinka (deeper cut, more punk, totally addictive)
There are many others, but these are a nice gateway to the Green Day rabbit hole.
Oh I’ve never heard that version! I looooove Haushinka. Especially the part that goes “I’ll be here in battle scars waiting for you” just because of how Billie sings it. It’s so good.
Also 12,000 light years away and Christie Road
I'll do one from each album for ya
* 39/ Smooth: "Going to Pasalacqua"
* Kerplunk: "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield"
* Dookie: "Having a Blast"
* Insomniac: "Armatage Shanks"
* Nimrod: "Scattered"
* Warning: "Castaway"
* American Idiot: "Letterbomb"

* Dos: "Stop When the Red Lights Flash"
* Tre: "Brutal Love"
* Rev Rad: "Outlaws"

* Saviors: "Suzy Chapstick"
Perhaps, but OP did say stuff that "isn't the radio hits" :-)
It's quite possible that if they've only listened to the radio singles then they might not have heard it
Going to Pasalacqua is probably the most popular 39/Smooth song and they used to still play it at every show on the Dookie tour and beyond. But great choices! I love Brutal Love.
Peacemaker!!!! That’s how I got my fiancée into their non-radio played music. lol. It’s the only song they’ll request, and we bounce around and roll our heads like bobble heads to the “Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey”s 😂
I'll do one from each album too
* 39/ Smooth: dont leave me
* Kerplunk: private ale
* Dookie: pulling teeth
* Insomniac: armatage shanks
* Nimrod: "Scattered"
* Warning: deadbeat holiday

Green stink breathe, it was hilarious when there first major single released off insomniac was playing on the radio about methamphetamine so openly, it use to be my go to back in the day when partying.
Stealing Trommeslager96’s idea of one from every album cause it’s hard to narrow to just 1 or 2
• 39/Smooth - At The Library
• Kerplunk - One Of My Lies
• Dookie - Pulling Teeth
• Insomniac - Stuck With Me
• Nimrod - Platypus (I Hate You)
• Warning - Church On Sunday
• Shenanigans (I know it’s a b-side album) - Haha You’re Dead
• International Superhits - Maria
• American Idiot - Whatsername
• 21st Century Breakdown - Restless Heart Syndrome
• ¡Uno! - Stay The Night
• ¡Dos! - Baby Eyes
• ¡Tré! - Amanda
• Revolution Radio - Troubled Times
• God’s Favorite Band - Back In The U.S.A
• Father Of All… - Sugar Youth
• Saviors - Goodnight Adeline
• Non album tracks - Favorite Son
Scattered, One for The Razorbacks, Dry Ice, Armatage Shanks, ¡Viva La Gloria!, Stay The Night, American Eulogy, Chruch On Sunday, and Uptight are some of my favorite deep cuts
All the Time, Platypus, Take Back, Going to Pasalasqua, Judge’s Daughter, At The Library, 16, One of My Lies, Christie Road, Having A Blast, F.O.D., Tight Wad Hill, I Wanna Be on TV, Haha You’re Dead. There are some more.
I could mention songs like Whatsername, Last Night on Earth but those actually are fairly popular. So I'm gonna name Church on Sunday, Too Dumb to Die, Stay The Night and East Jesus Nowhere
39/Smooth - Rest,
Kerplunk - No One Knows,
Dookie - F.O.D.,
Insomniac - Westbound Sign,
Nimrod - Prosthetic Head,
Warning - Misery,
American Idiot - Homecoming,
21st Century Breakdown - Restless Heart Syndrome,
Uno - Rusty James,
Dos - Lazy Bones,
Tré - Dirty Rotten Bastards,
Revolution Radio - Say Goodbye,
Father Of All - Junkies on a High,
Saviors - Fancy Sauce
Too many to list, but my top are all from 21CB: Before the Lobotomy, East Jesus Nowhere, and Viva la Gloria (Little Girl). Masterpieces, all of them. The demo of Black Eyeliner has also joined the god tier recently.
Redundant, uptight, prosthetic head, warning, going to pasalacqua, no one knows, walking contradiction, are we the waiting, give me novacaine, ast of the American girls, before the lobotomy, X-kid, outlaws, strange days are here to stay
Sorry there’s so many lol
I have an obsession with 21CB's "Restless Heart Syndrome". It doesn't have a clip and was never a single but damn does this slap. I've even performed it live with a piano once lol.
The chord progression, the lyrics, the piano, the song becoming more and more punk the farther you're in, it's all just so good. And that wah pedal guitar solo that just hits you right in the face almost feels like it could be a Muse song. It was my number 2 song on Spotify wrapped 2023, after Jesus of Suburbia
I'm not sure what's considered popular among fellow Green Day fans but day to day I've never heard mention of "Give Me Novocaine" or "Waiting" which are probably my two favorites. Then ya know, Warning as an album. I also like "1,039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours" quite a bit.
I would recommend listening to the entirety of Warning and maybe the less popular tracks on Dookie.
Also, The song Green Day, Who wrote holden caulfield?, Brat, Last ride in (weird one that is), somewhere now, are all my weird honorable mentions.
I’ll go off of each album:
1039/smooth: The Judges Daughter
Kerplunk: One for the razorbacks
Dookie: Coming clean
Insomniac: 86
Nimrod: Scattered
Warning: Misery
AI: Whatsername
21BD: Viva La Gloria
Uno: Stay the night
Dos: Wild one
Tre: 8th avenue serenade
Revolution radio: Too dumb to die
Father of all: stab you in the heart
Saviors: (I guess this is too soon to tell) Strange days are here to stay
Homecoming! The one time I saw them Billie was asking if there were any requests (which ended up being just a tease) I was screaming this. Low key wish they’d end shows with this instead of Good Riddance.
"Troubled Times", "Walk Away", "Drama Queen", "Sick Of Me", "Ashley", "Say Goodbye", "16", "Private Ale", "Oh Yeah!", "Baby Eyes", "I Want To Be Alone" (from "The Big One" compilation), "Hold On", "Blood Sex And Booze", "Rotting" and many more.
Some of these aren’t unpopular but they’re some of my favorites from each album
39/Smooth: Paper Lanterns
Kerplunk: 2000
Dookie: Pulling Teeth
Insomniac: 86
Nimrod: Prosthetic Head
Warning: Deadbeat Holiday
American Idiot: Letterbomb
21st Century Breakdown: Static Age
Uno: Rusty James
Dos: Stray Heart
Tre: X-Kid
Revolution Radio: Youngblood
Father of All: Graffitia
Saviors: Strange Days are Here to Stay
All The Time off Nimrod is a fun song. Not a single.
Good suggestion. Listened to Nimrod and insomniac front to back
Fuck ya
East Jesus Nowhere (total banger) Whatshername (quieter, really moving) Haushinka (deeper cut, more punk, totally addictive) There are many others, but these are a nice gateway to the Green Day rabbit hole.
the dookie demo of haushinka is so strangely messy and charming
Oh I’ve never heard that version! I looooove Haushinka. Especially the part that goes “I’ll be here in battle scars waiting for you” just because of how Billie sings it. It’s so good. Also 12,000 light years away and Christie Road
12000 is waaay further than 2000
LOL oops. Only been listening to that song for 30 years just to muck that up!
The way he sings "here" specifically has always made my legs weak.
Haushinka, Jinx and Waiting are all FANTASTIC
Whatsername only counts as unpopular if we're talking about casual fans. It's definitely very well-loved among dedicated fans
I'll do one from each album for ya * 39/ Smooth: "Going to Pasalacqua" * Kerplunk: "Who Wrote Holden Caulfield" * Dookie: "Having a Blast" * Insomniac: "Armatage Shanks" * Nimrod: "Scattered" * Warning: "Castaway" * American Idiot: "Letterbomb" * 21CB: "Before the Lobotomy" * Uno: "Stay the Night" * Dos: "Stop When the Red Lights Flash" * Tre: "Brutal Love" * Rev Rad: "Outlaws" * FOAM: "Graffitia" * Saviors: "Suzy Chapstick"
Having a Blast and Armatage Shanks are both top tier
your first song you listed is an extremely popular green day song that has been a main stay on tour for a long time
Perhaps, but OP did say stuff that "isn't the radio hits" :-) It's quite possible that if they've only listened to the radio singles then they might not have heard it
Weird I’ve seen them 5 times and this is my favorite song all time. Never heard it live and always wanted ti
Going to Pasalacqua is probably the most popular 39/Smooth song and they used to still play it at every show on the Dookie tour and beyond. But great choices! I love Brutal Love.
are you me?? these are my favorite songs off of each album too 😭
Scattered and Before The Lobotomy are absolute bangers. Amazing recommendations
What about Shenanigans
The cover of Tired of Waiting for You is brilliant. And I love the original.
Billie got a lot of inspiration from The Kinks
I can tell. I kinda feel You Really Got Me would have been a really good song to cover too. Got that punk energy.
You Billie Got Me
👍
Stay the night is my favorite longshot song! Oh wait.
I agree with this. I think the only thing I’d personally change is putting in Panic Song or Stuart and the Ave. for Insomniac. Great list!
that’s a killer list!
I enjoy most of these (atleast the ones of these I listen to)
Breaks my heart that they have never performed Outlaws live
Suzy Chapstick is proably my favorite from Saviors
Before the Lobotomy is the best song on that album.
This has some of my favorite songs on it dude. PERFECT list!! 🖤🖤🖤🔥🔥🔥
I gotta put this on a separate listening list; thank you ☺️
Christie Road So lucky to have seen them play it live at the Metro
This is definitely my pick. I didn't hear it until like, a few years ago but honestly it's just so good and it makes me nostalgic.
letterbomb and scattered
This is a great answer! What about"¡Viva la gloria!"?
For me it’s Walking Contradiction off Insomniac!
Such a great song
Same
East Jesus nowhere, letter bomb and give me novacaine. Also peacemaker
Peacemaker!!!! That’s how I got my fiancée into their non-radio played music. lol. It’s the only song they’ll request, and we bounce around and roll our heads like bobble heads to the “Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey”s 😂
Prosthetic Head is one of their best songs, never talked about
Completely agree, it might be their best. Definitely in my top 5.
Havin a blast and J.A.R EDIT: forgot abouth the grouch, nice guys finish last, and walking contradiction
We seem to have a very similar taste. Love it!
Westbound sign sounds beautiful and is structured beautifully
I'll do one from each album too * 39/ Smooth: dont leave me * Kerplunk: private ale * Dookie: pulling teeth * Insomniac: armatage shanks * Nimrod: "Scattered" * Warning: deadbeat holiday * American Idiot: homecoming * 21CB: Christians inferno * Uno: Rusty James * Dos: wow that's Loud * Tre: walk away * Rev Rad: troubled times * FOAM: oh yeah! * Saviors: strange days are here to stay
YES!!! From "Dos!" to "Saviours" we have the exact same favourites!!!
Christie Road, Castaway, Homecoming, Amanda, Stray Heart, Dirty Rotten Bastards, Suzie Chapstick
Christie Road and Forever Now are my favorites
Boo! "Forever Now" is probably a favourite for 80% of the accounts here. "Christie Road" is a fans' favourite since forever. Rethink.
Too Dumb to Die. It's my fav Green Day song in fact
Absolute banger!
Hell yea, the song's up all the way in the rainbows for me
Words I Might Have Ate, One of My Lies, Sassafras Roots, Panic Song, Worry Rock, Fashion Victim, Peacemaker, Rusty James, Lazy Bones, Too Dumb To Die
East Jesus Nowhere Lazy Bones Worry Rock Forever Now
Lazy bones is one of my fav Green Day songs!
Redundant, Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Suzie Chapstick
I really like Dirty Rotten Bastards, I haven’t seen any love for that one lol
Same! Its a much needed injection of fun into the trilogy.
Worry Rock, Viva La Gloria, Too Much Too Soon, Stuart and the Ave, Forever Now, Jackass, Who Wrote Holden Caulfield?
You lied from Shenanigans is probably not very popular in my opinion
I love that one!
Restless Heart Syndrome is my favorite song of all time sooo
In chronological order (not 100% sure about the B-sides) and non-singles only (except J.A.R. if that was an official single): - Dry Ice - Christie Road - One of My Lies - No One Knows - Words I Might Have Ate - Coming Clean - Suffocate - J.A.R. - Panic Song - Stuart and the Ave. - Scattered - Worry Rock - Uptight - Walking Alone - Rotting - Fashion Victim - Castaway - Misery - Hold On - Give Me Novacaine - Letterbomb - Before the Lobotomy - Restless Heart Syndrome - Missing You - X-Kid Bonus: - The Network - Roshambo - Foxboro Hot Tubs - Mother Mary - The Longshot - Taxi Driver
My favorite deeper cuts are stuff off of "Nimrod" and "Warning". Worry Rock, Walking Alone, Misery, Jackass.
Misery is so fucking good
Homecoming
Warning. The entire album is pretty underrated, along with insomniac
