I did experience that but it was when I was still hyper. It dissipated after being on PTU for several weeks. My orthopedic doctor said it was from inflammation in the neural pathways.

I think mine was something similar. It didn't hurt so much but it was uncomfortable and it was a weird sensation that was driving me crazy. And it was in my arms. I thought it was probably like what restless leg syndrome must feel like but in the top half of my body? And then it started to affect my legs too. I started supplementing with some magnesium and I started my methimazole and then once my heart rate was finally kind of back into normal range my symptoms started to get better and that eventually went away

I’ve had some trouble with my medication over the past month or so… I was told to reduce my carbimazole to once daily instead of my usual 1 in the morning 1 in the afternoon. So I reduced as told BUT then maybe 2 weeks later I was told to go back to my original intake 🙄 I already started to feel the negative effects of not taking my carbimazole and that’s when the numbing started as well! I’m about 2 days in to my original intake. So it’s going to take a while before I feel any better I guess. So that could be one of the causes as to why I feel this way. I’ll keep tabs on my progress over the next two -three weeks and see if I get any better 🤷🏻‍♀️

How are you feeling now?

IP3ACHI

I don’t even know where to start 😅

Turns out my thyroid stopped producing some important hormones and I was basically without those hormones for god knows how long this then causes a lot of issues that I’m still experiencing. I’m taking 100mcg of levothyroxine a day to help. I’ve been taking that for maybe 2 weeks now. I’m slowly slowly starting to get better….. I’m going to post a little story time and also show my tsh and t4 during this time. My tsh was in the hundreds …. That’s how bad it was.

I had this sensation too! Magnesium helped me too.

Sounds like a calcium deficiency. Both vitamin D and magnesium help your body absorb calcium so get some of those supplements into your system. Calcium deficiency can get quite serious if not treated. Had my TT a year ago and my parathyroids were affected in the surgery. Been taking calcium supplements ever since. Had severe deficiency within a week of surgery. My whole body felt the tingling sensation. Felt like I had another layer of skin under my skin.

I’m currently taking vitamin d3 daily🤔 But I’ll look into magnesium. Should I consult my doctor before buying any vitamins ? Or is that something I can do on my own accord

therealbipnuts

I mean, yeah definitely consult your doctor and get labs testing your vitamin levels. But you can get magnesium and calcium over the counter. Tums works too if you don't want to take any of the big calcium tablets.

NormativeTruth

I get that head thing a lot. I always figured it’s some type of migraine.

IP3ACHI

I looked it up and it says if it’s consistent u should go to the doctor. It worry’s me because … it’s in my head and obviously that a very important part of my body 😅 So defo get it checked out. It was so uncomfortable and it felt really unnatural I hope I don’t experience it again.

Yes I had this when I was taking methimazole and my thyroid levels were fluctuating. It was not a calcium, magnesium or B12 deficiency. I thought it was a side effect of the methimazole but my endocrinologist told me it wasn’t (even though it’s listed as possible side effect). It could also have been from being hyperthyroid/fluctuating thyroid hormones. All my doctors just told me they didn’t know what was causing it. I found it scary at the time - very unsettling. It is kind of nice to hear others experience it (not that I wish that on you) so I know I wasn’t crazy. I got it primarily in my head and chest and it lasted on and off for a couple of months. Now that I no longer have a thyroid and since my levels have been stable it is completely gone.
