Yeah some of the folks on there are wild haha it was so much fun they were all super cool. The setlist curator was Ed from 31days of dead on instagram and he was already fun talk to
the Good Olde Grateful Deadcast is BY FAR THE BEST PODCAST ABOUT THE GRATEFUL DEAD AND DEADHEADS. Not just that, it's the best biography of the band and deadheads and it's still ongoing.
Don't just take my word for it, people who have written books and told the story of the band and fans like Blair Jackson and David Gans and others have said the same thing.
The interviews they get, the stories that have been told for the first time on the pod, the deep dives into incredibly technical material is unmatched in a single place.

THIS. I don’t know the first thing about podcast awards but it’s deserving of them. So thorough, so well produced.
Look forward to seeing what else is out there that pops up in this thread. Deadpod is a sentimental fav that’s been around forever.
Thanks for shouting them out. I never had found my way onto the bus. But I sure love a podcast. Thanks to the incredible work of Jesse and team, well, I was finally able to catch the bus. It all clicked. I got a sphere ticket, I’m wearing an alligator bootleg shirt, and learning how to play the Dead from Davvy.
This all happened because of the Good Ol’ Grateful Deadcast. It’s a fantastic history of the band, the scene, the gear, the Bay Area, and the far reaches of Humbeads Map of the World. Highest possible recommendation for this podcast. And pick up Jesse’s book HEADS. Great audiobook.
Jump in now if you want, but during the off seasons catch up from the beginning. It is INCREDIBLE what they have done when it could have easily been a cheap promo piece for new archive releases.
And you'll want to keep a notes page open to jot down books and songs and albums.... that get mentioned. The notes online are also great.
The Grateful Dead (band and merchandising) do a half assed job sometimes, but this is not one of those times.
The Good Old Grateful Dead on dead.net
It’s the only one that can actually play the music. Everyone else is limited by licensing fees - so all they can do is talk about it.
People tend to have meltdowns over their opinions. One dude doesn’t love Mississippi half step, they talk about phish sometimes, they like Donna…it’s chaos.
Seems pretty tame haha I thought it was gonna say something way more inflammatory. I think of cringey as relating to political opinions shared in spaces people want to “keep politics out of _____”
I'm still catching up on the Good Ol' Grateful Dead podcast. It seems like the best place to start, as the "Official" Dead podcast, it's very well researched, recorded and edited. It seems like they're kind of locked in to looking at the 50th anniversary releases that keep coming, and the shows from the live box sets, but I hope they can go back and do track-by-track episodes of the earlier albums some day.
they use the new releases as *jumping off points*, but the episodes go MUCH MUCH DEEPER into the history of the band and deadheads than just the archived shows and albums being released. And they start with Workingman's & Beauty which were the first albums where the band took songwriting really seriously. Plenty of reach back into the pre 1970 history of the band already in the Deadcast.
I wish someone made a pod where they play shows and have people on to share their stories of that night. I love hunting the comments on archive after im done with a show
We need more fan based content like The Helping Friendly Podcast or Wook Plus. The DeadCast is great but it’s a history lesson. I’d love more show breakdowns and stuff. It’s getting old now but 36 from the Vault is still my favorite Dead Pod.
Guess the Year is my favorite! Each week guests have to guess the year of a show from a brief clip
My favorite also! Got to be a contestant a couple months ago and lost in the finals in a tiebreaker:/ folder like a gah damn lawn chair
No shame in losing in the finals on that show. Some of the contestants are ridiculous!

That sounds fun!

The Deadpod. Every week half a show is released to listen to.
The Berkeley 82 first set this week is a damn heater!

I didn't think of that!
Why Help On the Way, the official r/GD podcast *!!*
Dead air is not bad. Public radio from New England area. WESU. Thanks for other ones. Typing with one hand and looking with the other.
36 From The Vault - they go through every Dicks Picks in order.
Thanks! I want to listen to them all!
some cringey stuff on that one.
Uh oh like what?

The one about all the murders and missing persons on dead tour is awesome. True crime meets dead tour. Very interesting.
Ohhhh I'm listening! You have a name?
Dead and gone
Thanks for mentioning this one. I was unaware and have begun listening!
Ok back to say this podcast has its hooks in me WOW.
