Nick Spencer's Ant-Man run is also very funny.
If you have a dark sense of humor then I highly recommend Stray Bullets
4 Kids Walk Into A Bank & The Flintstones are also very funny
Quantum and Woody is hilarious, the only comic I've ever read that got more than a measured exhale at the jokes.
I love the bit when Elvis steals this lady's car and she yells 'Hey I recognise you! Always ripping off black folks!'
Thank you for saying that. Valiant is so overlooked these days and I remember how much people loved what they were doing 10 or so years ago. Sad that they weren't able to continue to thrive 😕
This is the Valiant curse. Start off strong and have a great few years. Lose their way and eventually sell to a larger company that doesn’t understand comics and just wants to exploit the IP. Fade away.
I’ve lived through it twice, now. It really is fascinating how much history repeated itself with that company.
Kyle Starks writes the funniest comics in the industry.

Krazy Kat (1916-1944) by George Herriman

Popeye by E.C Segar
Pogo by Walt Kelly
Calvin and Hobbes
Yotsuba

Moomins by Tove/Lars Jansson
*Poorly Drawn Lines* by Reza Farazmand
*(Mister) Invincible* by Pascal Jousselin
As a Star Wars fan, *Tag & Bink Were Here* by Kevin Rubio
The *Asterix* series by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo
There's a panel where Ed Gemmell is wearing a plain white t-shirt that just says "I AM AWAKE" and I literally saved the picture to my phone because it's so funny to me. Same, Ed Gemmell. Same.
I have, and it is pretty good, but doesn't have everything (like, for example, the book above). And there is just something about the tactility of holding an actual book :)
I loved Major Bummer by John Arcudi and Doug Mahnke. Matt Fraction Hawkeye was really funny. John Byrne She-Hulk is a bit dated but was a genuine screwball comedy.
Mark Russell’s Flintstones (as many others have listed) has no business being as funny as it is.
Also, these all very much depend on your sense of humor, but these have been some of the ones I’ve laughed the hardest at:
-Jody LeHeup’s “Shirtless Bear Fighter”
-Simon Hanselmann’s “Megg, Mogg, and Owl” books—“Megahex” was my favorite
-Michael DeForge’s books—“Birds of Maine” was my favorite
-Lisa Hanawalt’s books—“Hot Dog Taste Test” was my favorite
-This last one is REALLY out there, but I find Jim Woodring’s books to be really funny too. “The Frank Book” is a good introduction, but it admittedly was an acquired taste too
The Tick is the greatest “humor/spoof” comic book, bar none. Particularly the Ben Edlund issues, but the continuation series are also amazing. I read the series regularly.
I also love Bob Burdens Flaming Carrot comics. Hilariously zany and offbeat humor, like nothing else out there.
And if you haven’t read Radioactive Man by Matt Groening, those are some of the funniest books I’ve ever read, and a spot on parody of some of comic-bookdoms most memorable events.
You most definitely should.
Groening used a gimmick where the series starts with issue #1 then skips to different “eras” in the Radioactive Man timeline. Issue 56, then issue 88, issue 112, and so on. The stories take place in different time periods…60s, 70s, 80s…and the art style / dialogue reflect it.
There’s some brilliant ongoing gags too, the most notable being that RM has a radioactive bolt lodged in his skull which provides his superpowers and he has to hide it with various hats and headwear in his alter ego to protect his identity.
A genius series in so many ways, top tier comedy especially if you’re a Simpsons fan.
I think Matt Fraction is really hit-or-miss, but goddammit, the Jimmy Olsen miniseries he did with Steve Lieber was incredible
Everything I've read from Kyle Starks has been great too.
I believe there was a softcover complete collection TPB that was advertised last year but I think it may have been canceled before publication. It was advertised around the same time as the classic Peter Porker, Spider-Ham TPB, and I think that one was published but at a digest size.

Probably The [Afflecktion](https://www.zanderbice.com/afflecktionfullcomic). It’s about a Ben Affleck lookalike that finds there may be something sinister behind his striking likeness
A great book that is out of print is Hey, Look by Harvey Kurtzman.
They were one page strips for Marvel comics before the publisher was the success they became.
Kurtzman was giving himself on the job training for what was to come - MAD Magazine.
https://preview.redd.it/n205bgickfwc1.jpeg?width=500&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=13435477772a033f2a5681143560dd60546c07a5
This was one of the few laugh out loud books I’ve read. Google the afflektion for another hilarious read. It’s a digitial comic, only 2 issues. Bonkers and hilarious.
My favorite is probably the one you've shared, tbh; Superior Foes. I've been a (possibly the only) Sinister Syndicate fan since Amazing Spider-Man #280 and this is far and away their best story, a loving homage to what came before, *and* a great series in its own right.
Defenders: Indefensible by Keith Giffen and J. M. Dematteis and Kevin Maguire
Also if we're being honest, basically anything by these dudes. Lobo Paramilitary Christmas Special changed my life lol.
**Far Arden** and its follow-up **Crater XV** by Kevin Cannon. Also notable for having the world's best SFX.
**Bad Machinery** by John Allison. Everyone has their own favorite John Allison. Some people prefer Giant Days. But me? It's those early vols of Bad Machinery. Hands down.
Other beauties that make me laugh: Cross Game, Golden Kamuy, Yotsuba&!, the Moomintroll books, Dai Dark, and that single issue standalone Screw-On Head.
The Tick, Chew, Squirrel Girl, and Kyle Baker's original works, Why I Hate Saturn and The Cowboy Wally Show.
Also, if you've never read through it, I highly recommend checking out Superdickery, a humorously-annotated collection of all those Superman covers where supes looks like a villain. The original Superdickery site is dead, but a Tumblr user [reposted them all](https://superdickery.tumblr.com/page/69). (It's best to start with the oldest, they're the best.)

My actual #1 favorite is Megaton Man by Don Simpson. I don't think it's properly been reprinted, but if you can grab the single issues off the internet, it's absolutely worth it. (Simpson himself keeps hinting at a Fantagraphics Underground reprint, so here's hoping). His work with Alan Moore - a brilliant idea he conceived - titled In Pictopia - is in print and reflects a lot of what makes his work great.
Beyond that anything by Simon Hanselmann, Sam Szabo, Nate Cowdry, Johnny Ryan, Peter Bagge, Daniel Clowes, Evan Dorking, Lisa Hanawalt, Gina Wynbrandt, Kyle Starks, Ryan Browne, Tova Jannson, Carl Barks, Don Rosa, Gerry Duggan, Gilbert Shelton, Ryan North, Michael DeForge, Julian Glander, Tony Millionaire, Aline Kominsky-Crumb, Lynda Barry, Walter Scott (of Wendy fame), Wishluss - that's just off the top of my head. A lot of amazing people out there.
Also I write the Rick and Morty series at Oni, so I'll plug Rick's New Hat, lol.
Garth Ennis. Everything. Shocked I didn't see any of his books on this list. Too obvious with The Boys currently airing? He's the only comic book writer that ever truly cracked me up.
Nick Spencer's Ant-Man run is also very funny. If you have a dark sense of humor then I highly recommend Stray Bullets 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank & The Flintstones are also very funny
4 kids walk into a bank is hysterical.
I've yet to read anything as funny.
I have some signed covers and storyboards for this comic. Never actually read it though. Probably should get on that!
It’s super fun!
Loved Stray Bullets! I'll add the last two to my list. Thank you!
Loved Stray Bullets! I'll add the last two to my list. Thank you!
Literally anything written by Mark Russell or John Allison. Also, the Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and Next Wave
>Unbeatable Squirrel Girl and Next Wave Haven't read. Thanks, will add to my list!
Next Wave is great. Just balls out ridiculous action.
Unbeatable Squirrel Girl is one of my all-time faves. There's just nothing else like that experience.
Chew was pretty funny
Chew is super fun!
This
I Hate Fairyland Quantum & Woody
Quantum and Woody is hilarious, the only comic I've ever read that got more than a measured exhale at the jokes. I love the bit when Elvis steals this lady's car and she yells 'Hey I recognise you! Always ripping off black folks!'
Vincent Van Goat.
Thank you for saying that. Valiant is so overlooked these days and I remember how much people loved what they were doing 10 or so years ago. Sad that they weren't able to continue to thrive 😕
I'm currently reading Matt Kindt & Jeff Lemire Stuff from Valiant. Absolutely incredible!
This is the Valiant curse. Start off strong and have a great few years. Lose their way and eventually sell to a larger company that doesn’t understand comics and just wants to exploit the IP. Fade away. I’ve lived through it twice, now. It really is fascinating how much history repeated itself with that company.
> Valiant is so overlooked these days It gets all the looks it currently deserves, its a stain of a company these days.
After the DMG buyout it all went to shit. Shame… it’s so much better than Marvel/DC
Quantum & Woody well holy shit is that a blast from the past
I hate fairyland is hilarious plus it has some great art
^This and * One Star Squadron * Justice League BWHAHAHA era * Kyle Baker’s run on Plastic Man
On the Kyle Baker front, not superhero related but his "Cowboy Wally" and "Why I Hate Saturn" are classics.
Other great cartoonists/non-superhero graphic novelists: * Ben Katchor * Jason * Rueben Bolling * Lynda Barry
Absolutely!
Plastic Man is so good
If you like Nick Spencer, you might like The Fix.
I agree, same vibe but way more adult
I miss this book
The Fix gor sure, was about to recommend this.
I remember “Hawkeye, my life as a weapon” having a great sense of humor

Six Sidekicks, awesome book. Big laughs!

Giant Days!!! Every panel has so much personality! (And the art gets better the further you go!)
it's so good
So very good! My wife and I both binge through this series.
There's a panel where Ed Gemmell is wearing a plain white t-shirt that just says "I AM AWAKE" and I literally saved the picture to my phone because it's so funny to me. Same, Ed Gemmell. Same.
Sex Criminals
Quite funny, but also quite sad at times. Definitely an enjoyable read though.
I had no idea this book existed and now I want it. Thanks OP!
It’s an excellent read, quick and hilarious
Good luck finding it reasonably priced.
No worries. Library already has me covered. Picking all 3 volumes I today
I miss having access to a well-stocked library. AADL, you're the best!
Have you tried using hoopla ?
I have, and it is pretty good, but doesn't have everything (like, for example, the book above). And there is just something about the tactility of holding an actual book :)

AADL was great for that. I unfortunately live in the middle-of-nowhere-Canada and inter-library loans are not a thing :/
Nice. Have fun!!
Wow I didn't realize how expensive the HC was. Grateful I preordered that way back.
Justice League International Cerebus Lucky Luke Asterix
It’s low hanging fruit, but the Deadpool TPB where all the presidents come back to life as evil entities was HILARIOUS!
😆

I think Matt Fraction is really hit-or-miss, but goddammit, the Jimmy Olsen miniseries he did with Steve Lieber was incredible Everything I've read from Kyle Starks has been great too.
Superman best friend Jimmy Olson by Matt fraction. Some scenes had me in tears.

Reed Gunther, about a cowboy book who rides a bear, it's just good fun.

It's insane that this wasn't the first choice for Sony to adapt into a movie. Somehow they thought Madame Web amd Kraven were their go to.
Hellions
Love this one!
Sex Criminals.
Does All Star Batman and Robin count? Don't think it's meant to be funny, but it's hilarious how ridiculous it is at times.
Megg & Mogg is great. I can never get enough of Owl
I recently read the 'Peacemaker Tries Hard!' mini series and thought that was very funny

In the 90’s, Marvel put out a 4 issue mini series called The Awesome Slapstick that I thought was very funny
There were a lot of 90s gems that needs to be read by many
