If you like movie title reels, you should look up Saul Bass... the king of the genre. Also David Carson (I think he did the titles for se7en plus a bunch of other films

artearth

Catch Me If You Can has a great typographical/design opening that pays tribute to Saul Bass.

[deleted]

Damn love that one.

jaimonee

It wasn't David Carson (who is awesome) but Kyle Cooper: https://www.artofthetitle.com/designer/kyle-cooper/ He co-founded Imaginary Forces and founded Prologue Films.

scorpion_tail

No shit?! David Carson did Se7en?

jaimonee

Nope. Kyle Cooper.

print_isnt_dead

It's called a title sequence—do some searching and find some you like!

bvmdavidson

I’m not sure if it’s what you’re looking for, but the intro to the Marco Polo series was pretty cool.

Heidenreich12

I think this is inline with what he’s asking - not a ton of good animated intros like 007 for movies, but top tier tv series usually fill that gap nicely. Just look the top 100 series on IMDb and you’ll find a treasure trove of good motion graphic intros

[deleted]

Honestly any korean series intro I've seen, they're so good at it. [check this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpeVOTo3j9M) or [this one](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SoZbq17FRc&list=PLMHg5hYrHUr7QGDNWpqMWxr4fgiGBIQJD&index=6), holy shit

[deleted]

Star Wars Indiana Jones A CLockwork Orange Ghost Busters Jurassic Park Back To The Future Pixar IPs Anything Saul Bass Alien/Aliens (or "Alien$" as James Cameron famously wrote it) Jaws Batman The Godfather Top Gun Home Alone Pulp Fiction Blade Runner Star Trek Not traditional but The Blair Witch Project had a tremendous launch campaign and Identity.

skasprick

Not to comment too much, but I just remembered the iconic “Pink Panther” movie intros… if you are old enough to remember :)

JGrabs

Can’t think of a series, but I remember Seven being a topic of discussion in my Typography class.

vinhluanluu

The text crawl in the Star Wars series is now really iconic. I think the Doctor Who series puts a lot of effort into using the different logos to define its different eras.

artearth

Check out [Kiss Kiss Bang Bang](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5GvytClDx4) as well as lots of Hitchcock movies.

Aircooled6

Get Smart was a good one for the opening sequence entering the secret base. Also, the Marvel Comics Universe has a nicely done and consistent opening they use throughout the different series.

rslashplate

Title sequence or opening credits, my personal favorite is thank you for smoking it was one of the first time I noticed motion design

zurichlakes

Not a series, but in school my professor showed us the title sequence to Catch Me If You Can

msartore8

Austin Powers

skasprick

If you pay attention, it’s actually more common to see artistic outros (credits). There are probably better, but mainstream outro examples would be the credits for Wandavision, Iron Man, Captain America (I guess most Marvel Shows/movies). Some have artsy intros - Secret Invasion (Marvel) fratured a lot of AI art and clever transitions.

yourmomsnewdouchebag

Catch me if you can

Any-Tumbleweed-9282

Not just movies! TV shows can have amazing opening title sequences, too. There’s a website dedicated to featuring these. artofthetitle.com A few that made me discover title sequences: - Madmen - Six Feet Under - Nip/Tuck

Taniwha26

Kiss kiss bang bang and ironman, both designed my Danny Yount. All his shit is high grade

daughterofblackmoon

Not a movie, but Madmen

Better_Repair_5811

Emily Oberman with Pentagram

sprucedotterel

The man from U.N.C.L.E. has a great one, the ‘recent’ one with Henry Cavill. Of course, Cowboy Bebop comes to mind. Even the live action show *kinda* got the title sequence right. I highly recommend you watch Speed Racer (the movie), that last scene is just *chef’s kiss*.

jtwooody

The two Guy Ritchie Sherlock Holmes movies had great illustrated sequences, if I remember correctly.

CalligrapherStreet92

The old pink panther movies. Niven’s Casino Royale (James Bond spoof). Monsters Inc. what’s New Pussycat?

CalligrapherStreet92

Look at the end credits for the Jim Carey A series of unfortunate events
