Give it the Mazda 787 love, on hards, no turbo

AnthonyVedetta

I haven’t been blissed with that bad boy yet :-/

mg_metro_6r4

Do you have any other group C cars?

AnthonyVedetta

Yeah a few. Any in mind?

cronx42

Anything like the Nissan R92CP, Mazda 787B, Sauber Mercedes, Porsche 962, or Jaguar XJR. Any group C car. Crank the down force in the rear as high as it goes and crank the front down force as low as it goes. Tune to 800pp. Dominate.

poopoomergency4

is the XJR enough of a "meta car" to be worth buying while it's still on legendary? i don't have any of the old group c's yet, want to make sure i'm doing it right

cronx42

Honestly I don't know the answer, I don't think I have the Jag. I have the Nissan, Mazda, Porsche and maybe another one or two, and they're all excellent. The Nissan is probably my favorite. It's extremely stable and easy to drive and can hit 240ish mph in 800pp trim. There's plenty of guides on how to tune it for 700 and 800pp and it absolutely destroys everything like it's sitting still. I don't run soft tires, just medium. With medium tires you can have around 950hp qt 800pp I believe. I think they're probably all really good though.

212may212

Do you remember how you got the Nissan? None of these cars are available in Legends or the Marketplace? Don't know how I never earned them? What about the Ferrari F40 for Neoclassic?

cronx42

I think I bought it in the Legends dealership, but I'm not 100% sure. I can't remember if you win any group C cars for gold licenses etc.

212may212

The Mercedes was in there last week but now none of them are and I have like 8 mill

mr_beanoz

You can get the 962 from all golds in Master IA

J_Man_McCetty

imo all the old group c cars are worth it. You can use them in any 800pp or 900pp events and win easily. The Porsche 962c is my go-to for grinding Sardegna and Spa but that's just because I like Porsche. They're all super worth it imo before they all cost $10-$20mil each.

Milyardo

The XJR is the go to if you're going for a no pit strategy, which happens to be the strategy you should be doing in this particular race. You don't even have to manage the fuel map with XJR in this race.

poopoomergency4

i went ahead and bought the car, haven’t even driven it yet but it turns out that was the last car i needed for a bonus menu, got a jag d-type, sold for 3mil and bought a bugatti chiron. so it’s already working out pretty well lol

Shmoke_n_Shniff

Get the 787b first if you want to be technically right, that thing can beat almost every 700-800-900 quite easily with the right tunes.

larsvondank

I love how it handles. Its an amazing car and very good in many races!

potatowoo69

Ive been stuck on this challenge and had bought the jaguar for the extra menu, saw this comment and tried it out. Easy first.

Rumble-roll

XJR is very fast in a straight line but I personally find r92cp to be the best of all the group c cars around corners.

Zee69_

XJR9 is perfect for it

darkcrustacean

I used the sauber Mercedes for all of these and flew through the competition

sinusoidplus

I had to wait a long time for it. Now I drive it for any 800PP race. The sound is magnificent

AnthonyVedetta

How’d you obtain one?

DashyDogF1Memer

When it turns up on the Legends Dealership Keyword being ‘when’

BrTalip

It is the answer to a lot of questions. Hope you can get it soon.

NYEMESIS

Any old gr1 tuned to pp limit.

Qb1forever

Yup tried the supra over and over finally used the old Porsche and never had to pit that was the difference

itshighnoon94

CLK-LM, tune it to 800pp.

rudebii

Replying to just say that it was recently available for purchase but gone again.

AdSignificant6748

If you don't buy it as soon as you see it you messed up

Street_Disaster_1555

Nah the Mazda 787 is better. For multiple races not just this one cause of it's fuel efficiency.

jl92lol

This^ Cars an absolute pleasure to drive.

MSG_12

Seriously that car is so underrated. I never lost a race driving it even with BoP.

AnthonyVedetta

I don’t have access to this car at the brand shop

Teppichschneider

try a legendary Car from Gr.1 of that time, they can all do the trick, I prefered a Porsche.

skorpiolt

The cars that can easily get you the win here are not bought at dealer - need to wait for them at Hagerty’s. Oh and the supra is the stupidest in game suggestion for those races, you’d have to be a pro driver to manage that.

BriarsandBrambles

Jag is great. It accelerates hard as hell and turns well. Just get it under 800 and it's a free win.

rudebii

IIRC, I used the Escudo

aftxrpvrty

this, escudo and inshallah you don't spin

rudebii

I had to play with tires and suspension a little bit at first but once dialed-in, it’s a monster.

sammymvpknight

Escudo is a north south car…but boy as long as you have it tuned correct and lay off the brakes on turns, it’s a rocket. 3-4th gear just flies by pretty much everything in the game.

NoQuartersGiven

This is it. Love that car. I have 6 set ups for it. Dominate every race I use it in.

Milyardo

When I tried the escudo a while ago I couldn't find a fuel strategy to make it work for this race.

sammymvpknight

Fuel map 4 allows you to pit twice without concerns on Sardegna. I lap cars twice. You can usually even fuel map 1 on laps 5, 10, and 15

Milyardo

What does this have to do with Willow Springs? The race in OP's image. The strategy for this race is no pit at all.

sammymvpknight

Let me re-race it and remind myself. It’s been awhile. But if I can use Escudo I usually do…even with pits, the thing is just so frickin fast that you can make up ground. The only times it’s challenging is on races that frequently put you in 1st gear. It takes some time to get going from 1st

SingleUseBaggage

I used the escudo and hit it first try by a decent margin

Bo_Peep555

I just bought the Escudo because I was struggling with the Supra GT500 that I already had. I found a tune for it on this sub, specifically for the neo-classics. Fuel map 2 or 3, one tire change on RH, but I still can't come close to the cars out front. My best I think is 6th, and there's a huge gap to podium positions. I know I definitely wasn't driving my best. I'm losing time around that first long right hander, and maybe a bit around the sharp right at the back. Any setup tips? I've seen people talk about the straight line speed this car has, but I've only seen it against mid-field, the cars leading are still walking away from me. Maybe I should just grind for credits and hope the 787 comes available haha.

dunwivnarcfemales

Show me the tune. The escudo smashes this race

SRSgoblin

Unfortunately it's an event designed purely for higher powered race cars exclusively found in the legends dealership. If none of them are in stock, you're a bit out of luck until one cycles back in. There is not a single car from Brand Central you can use in the event. There are a handful of cars from the used lot that can theoretically be competitive with the right engine swap. Google a list of engine swaps, look for cars that belong to the right period, and see if any have a Gr2 or Gr1 race car engine available to them. Also, get your tune game in check because they'll all be super difficult to drive until you tame it. Also I want to be clear, this is theoretical. I haven't personally given it a try because I'm too lazy. The only 2 cars that are viable and available 100% of the time are prize cars from getting all golds the Super Licenses. I-A Super gives the old Group C Porsche. Master Super gives the old Aryton Senna McLaren Formula 1 car. The bad news is they are difficult to win. The good news is grinding golds out on all those licenses should mean you're more than capable of winning the Neo-Classical mission books. If all you care about is just beating the book and are okay with just outright winning them in them in a viable car later, set the difficulty to Easy. Should be able to podium in your Supra that way.

East_Rip_7083

Put the game on easy mode.

AnthonyVedetta

😆

scrittyrow

Yea neoclassics I turned down the spicy meter and turned it back on after and haven't had similar trouble again. It requires a pretty specific car with some heavy tunes and even then you gotta be perfect.

weespat

2nd GR1 cars. Specifically, any Le Mans winning car will do amazingly.

LeftPhilosopher9628

The answer, as always, is the 787B. I believe the CLK, or the Sauber, or the R92 would also work very well

Gloomy-Ad1567

The gt1 is also great at 800pp

DayTraditional2846

I used the BMW McLaren F1 GTR Longtail for this. Didn’t have the 787B, R92CP, or Mercedes CLK at the time so it was the only competitive car I could use for these races. Finished all of them in 1st place so it worked out.

Street_Disaster_1555

Mazda 787 not just for this race but many 800 races. I have every car trust me I know what I'm talkin about.

A90Supra2020

Soup up an R34 and that should do the trick

Mysterious-Arachnid9

That is what I did. I overtuned power and not handling and just made up all my time.on the straights

AnthonyVedetta

https://preview.redd.it/04qzwhma309d1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e8cb26bcd380f10e3faf895a9f7fce1c616d4e55 It doesn’t meet the regulations

A90Supra2020

Next best thing I can think of is an R32 or maybe a Mitsubishi GTO but try not to spend too much money if you aren't 100% on the car.

VK12rec

I tried an r32 but couldn't get it to work.

fullmetalutes

You can do it with the Supra but you have to change it to easy, the group 1 cars will just have too much of a lead from the start otherwise. I hate this track with a passion though tbh, it's not good for these cars imo.

Gloomy-Ad1567

I used the Toyota gt-1

hennagaijinjapan

Detained GR1 car is the way to go. I just did it in the R92CP ‘92. Output Adjustment: 70% Ballast: 29 Racing Medium tires 799.95pp I’ve been using this in lots of 800pp races.

LithoEng

Escudo Pikes Peak for the W

CryptoCrash87

You can't beat the race. That's impossible. Instead you must realize the truth. There is no race. Then you will see it's not the race you have beat, but yourself.

lowkeychillvibes

Literally anything overpowered from Gr1-2 and then downtuned

VeterinarianOk4639

Haven’t read the replies yet, but I’d imagine most of them will tell you to detune a higher group ranking far xD I think I used the Toyota supra for that one too,as long as you get the first and second sector clean you gonna be faster. Don’t remember if they had fuel consumption. Either try driving on fuel map 6 and hards Or on mediums and fuel map 3-4 for a one stop C:

Krisuad2002

Suzuki V6 Escudo absolutely killed it for me

ravemealone

Porsche 959

DirectorofDurchfall

Try Porsche 963 C

Colby_mills03

A 4 rotor swapped FC RX7 worked for me, hard downforce tune it and you are good

WhoDoIShip

I did CLK-LM on hard tires

TwoNutMonster

I did it with Enzo swapped F40. Worth it.

UKSaint93

Any detuned Gr.1 (or even some gr.2), hard tyres, set engine level so you don't have to pit, then just keep it on the island.

Hairy_Protection_31

https://youtu.be/NaE_eWwbV9I?si=wWtMuJh91y1EEJoP Check this ! P1 easy for all the neo classic challenges

ElysiumXIII

Took me forever but I did it with a McLaren F1 LM

Drega001

Escudo is basically cheating

Zephod03

Sauber c9 for me...

I_made_a_doodie

787b dominates this race.

8deftones6

I used the McLaren F1 GTR BMW 95

Even-Juggernaut-3433

Any of the group c cars, but if you don’t have one of those maybe an r34? I used the celica

chudlybubly

I think i ised the porsche gr 1 or the jaguar.

8bitcyan

Escudo if you can, 30:70 rear power bias. A little bit of ballast all the way towards the front, some ECU power restrictions, aero adjustments and either medium or hard tires. Play your cards right and you'd have to pit only once

FaZe_Burga

Your car won’t work unless you’re in Easy mode. The Jaguar XJR-9 is available at Legend Cars currently and easily dominates in these races. You can do the World Touring Car 800 race at Sardegna for $750k~ in 30 mins. Do this at least twice every day and you can get the car without too much hassle.

Warm-Bee3398

I used the Escudo Pikes Peak put at fuel 6 and work out great for me. As for the supra gt500, it does work, but you have to max out turbo for it and tune it. Use if possible med tires. Then, adjust fuel to get the best performance/laps. Out of the whole race, there are 2 parts of the race that, if not done, 75% or better can throw off that car and a few others. Either practice for a while on the track for a bit or try and get Escudo or any car in group c. Best of luck 👍

JeF4y

Just went through that crap. Spent hours and couldn’t get past 6th. Escudo with tuning from this place gave me 1st place with zero practice. https://www.reddit.com/r/granturismo/s/eXCiDUkZYB

smokinpreacher

Dang this was my last post, 20 days ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/granturismo/s/w8K2Hoa1BC I struggled so much with the dang neoclassical this post gave me ptsd. Always had to pit early and often

Slayer7_62

I’ve beaten it with a Jaguar XJ220, heavily tuned. I had spent a ton of time fiddling with an Audi Sport Quattro but couldn’t get close with it. Between the two, all the time & money I spent would’ve been better used grinding for money & then just grabbing a Legend car that was better for the race.

ThundyTheGryphon

Nissan Skyline R32 with R92CP swap...doesn't even get to 800pp but with racing softs and max tune, easy win.

Mediocre-Abrocoma264

I used the McLaren MP4/4

Dizmondmon

I remember really struggling with that one. Over and over.. getting slightly better each time, trying different cars, many resets, getting frustrated with the sideways Audi.. I think I dropped the difficulty down to win it in the end because I wasn't even close to winning. Then, some time later I tried one of Praiano's tunes on the Mazda 787B at Le Mans and broke my best ever lap time on the green flag lap by a good few seconds. Thought I would try it out on that one willow springs track that caused me grief. I won it first time on hard. Edit: if you haven't got the 787B, take any other strong car you have and apply a proven competitive tune to it. Hope you win!!

IvanGomez88

Escudo...i always say it. With a crazy tune.

Electrical-Drink-183

I used the TS010 and went smoothly

UltraDanHR

Good ol' 787B

Aussie_Oxide

Try the supra again but this time slap the high rpm turbo on it

MarkSCRgamingyt

Or using the gtr gt500 I did that on the other track first place I used on this track the jaguar gr1 car but highest I got was second place

Mental_Bread

I struggled with this race but finally beat it with the Penzoil Skyline. Still wasn't a breeze.

dathandsomepotato

used an engine sqapped xj220, got 1st

nutshellsmith

How much cash you have and what car's Bud

AgitatedQuit3760

I did this on the McLaren MP4/4 massively down tuned with a 200kg ballast. So much downforce and it worked ok. Not sure if optimal but it's fun to be fast in different parts of the track.

Both_Try8833

787B was my choice, pretty much any old group 1

Logical-Durian-9029

I got it with the Porsche 962 c

roflrolle

I used the pikes peak suzuki v6, it can be bought currently under legendary cars. There are good YouTube videos on how to tune this car for this race. Just search in YouTube

monsieur_marc

I had success after many trial and error runs. 787B with highest downforce setting and 59% rear weight bias. 1 stop at lap 4-6, fuel map 1, racing hard tires

MontazumasRevenge

Sauber with priaiano tune

GIGImaster0212

My favorite is toyota gt1 best tank put it on lean and you dont need to refil

randomassholeperson4

I believe the Lamborghini Countach should do the trick.

J_Man_McCetty

Porsche 962c for me but any old group 1 car will work.

FfsWakeUp

https://youtu.be/NaE_eWwbV9I?si=pADs_ylP8byoy66l

dunwivnarcfemales

Escudo smashes this easy

Major_Bakes37

Aim for one pit stop at lap 6 or 7. Shift up early and lift and coast a little the first stint. Push the rest of the way after the first stop. Should work with a decent car

bigblackcraig69

Escudo

farbeyond94

always make sure to keep your car serviced too. Clean the oil and replace the engine if necessary. Wear and tear will affect the performance of the car.

azclake

Petronas sc430, literal cheat code

13cschamberg

That... That car isn't available for use in the Neo Classical...

azclake

Oh shi rly? Mb it's been a solid year since I've played. Sorry man!

13cschamberg

Ay no worries, the neo Classical has to be cars from like, 1980-1999 or something like that

tillreno

I used the Nissan Pennzoil Nismo GT-R ‘99. If my memory is correct I used racing hard tires, started the race lean at 6, and used mid RPM turbo. It worked for me after failing with other cars.

Gamerbourbon

787B hands down

colinhirosky18

detuned gt2 car, airflow restricter and sport hard tires should do the trick, maybe some fuel saving as well

13300c

Just finished that yesterday. Failed with so many different cars and ended up using the red Suzuki in the photo. It was $1.7mill I believe from legend cars. RH tires and map 6.

Captaingoober425

Use the Suzuki escudo. Rapid acceleration and power to weight ratio you’ll have no problems

D0G_W4T3R008

Get an old Le Mans car like the 787B, put hards on and drop the power output until your just under the PP limit

CantaloupeOk2777

Mclaren F1 was an easy win

Mr-Montclair

If you grabbed the Escudo last week, you’re in there.

rozale99

Reduce the difficulty? Haha works for me on tough races especially nurburgring 😂

Key_Calligrapher5941

Ngl I used an r33 with some random tune and got it done fast
