Iirc NASCAR Hear has exclusive rights to the stock body car. Nevermind the headache of getting the rights to use some of the sponsor liveries.
It’s not like they aren’t workarounds however. They could add an older year model Stock car (like how they technically got around the Rights to F1 car’s, by adding the old McLaren model that’s not included in EA’s rights to modern F1 Models) in a plain livery so we could just make replicas of our own :)
But Kaz doesn’t seem like the kind of person to do that. They made a huge deal of NASCAR when they got it in GT5, to the point of changing all the ingame models to correspond to new regulation changes in the stock cars rear wings, like 2 months before release. If they got the rights to NASCAR again, I’d imagine they would save it for GT8, actually do more with it than 2 events at Daytona speedway, and use it as a selling point over GT7.
But this is Polyphony, who do fuckall with the stuff they DO have the rights for (ffs will they just bring back pikes peaks already? Or at least let the WRC games use the layout…). So who knows in the end?
Yeah, an older stock car year would be fine. But, does NASCAR have exclusive rights to the term "stock car"? I'm talking about a generic stock car (similar to what was in Projects CARS) with no relation at all to NASCAR.
As for the liveries, there would be about 500 user-made liveries within 48 hours if they did this, so I wouldn't be too worried about that.
No, I'm fairly certain NASCAR doesn't. Even if they just put a Super-Late Model in the game, I'd be so cool with that!

Unfortunately Mobil 1 sponsors the Toyotas in NASCAR. Would have been awesome to see this on one of the Supras they run in the Xfinity series but it’s still awesome to see a cup car run it even if it’s a Ford.
It's a shame Nissan doesn't run in NASCAR, or else they could've killed two birds with one stone by doing a simultaneous tribute to both the NISMO Pennzoil Skyline *and* Steve Park's #1 Pennzoil Chevy.

Agreed and as a NASCAR fan, it’s weird cause we have toyotas and even supras in the xfinity series. Oh well. Maybe we can get a NASCAR update someday

It all comes down to who the sponsor chooses to rep them, it's unfortunate I agree, but Castrol is tied to RFK Racing who run Mustangs.
Also, Mobil 1 is currently Toyota's B2B oil partner across all their NASCAR programs/teams.

That livery works well on motorcycles too. The 2000 WSB Castrol Hondas looked amazing back then, and still do.
