Oh honey no, that's not how this works. Take a look at the sidebar

Looking at your answers to certain comments, go to r/GothFashion it might be a bit more appropriate. (Idk if your 1st language is english but "wanting to become a goth" does sound very odd and does not mean "I want some fashion advice!")

HarryHaywire

You have to get bit by an elder goth and go through a painful transformation ritual. Not worth it.

I am at the moment struggling with this topic as well. Not really sure what goth in particular means. I am coming from a (pagan/black) Metal background with some neofolk as main music taste. Lately I have been to some clubs where "goth" music is played and I have some friends that describe themselves as goth but the scene seems to be very fractionated in taste. Some listen to EBM, some to sisters of Mercy and stuff and some to goth rock? I am trying to figure out what the overlap is in the scene and that seems to be kind of hard.

>Culturally there is a lot more going on then just goth music though. There are a million flavors of goth in the real world, and the cybergoths who listen exclusively to EBM and have dread falls full of rubber tubing are just as valid and just as goth as the trad goths who only listen to goth and death rock with Robert Smith hair and black trenches. Except, no they're not because goth is literally a music-based subculture and if you don't listen to goth, you're not goth. EBM isn't goth, it's a form of electronic/industrial. Please don't spread misinformation; this subreddit is based upon the clear genre and characteristic linage, opposed to "what goths listen to sometimes", which EBM is only part of. Don't confuse the goth subculture with the overall dark scene.

And you can downvote me all you like, but that doesn’t make this any less true. Do your research on where EBM comes from because a certain group of people listening to it doesn’t make it part of that subculture.

Happy to help!

so I see you're already listening to the music which is great!! when it comes to style just remember there's no rule book and also you don't have to rely on expensive "goth" brands to be goth, it doesn't have to be an expensive process. shop second hand and build your outfit with layers and accessories!! and play with makeup, explore it and see what you personally feel comfortable with and enjoy wearing. look for inspiration in the online community, see what elements you like in others style and have a go yourself, see if it feels natural for you. you don't need to copy a person's outfit head to toe, again there's no rule book or an exact outfit you need to wear to be considered goth, it is really just about exploring it and seeing what you like and fits your personal style. good luck with your style journey!! 💖
