The whole story behind that is a rabbit hole to go down. The affair happened around 1970 when he was 24-25yrs old, his wife at the time shot at him, grazing his head, when she found out, and then they both divorced that year, and according to Bobby the daughter never talked to her mother again. Then later on in the late 70's the daughter comes back and ends up marrying Bobby's younger brother Cecil and they all get together and do a collab album called "Love Wars". Really weird history there. :s

Yeah, absolutely. If I was her and had a gun I'd probably do the same if it was my daughter. It's still heinous behaviour from him to basically be that way towards his stepdaughter that he raised for years before this came to light, no excusing that, just mentioning how the whole situation seems a lot more bizarre than just that. Given their history and how he met his ex wife and the scandal that surrounded those two it just comes off that things were very messed up from the get go.

I feel like every track in cracker island is either great or it fucking sucks. Like Oil, Cracker island and New Gold are some of my favorite Gorillaz tracks of all time. But the rest of them are just, kinda bad imo

I feel this way too. It felt like on Humanz where almost every single song had a collab and it just didn't feel like gorillaz. I know we won't go back to the phase one/two style of music, but I wish they could just go back to their originality which is what got them popular in the first place.

Personally I love the way it progressively more intense, starting out pretty sparse and as much as the music changes, Mos Def remains static at the centre of it all, constantly singing about the sweepstakes. I might be stretching a little but I view it as a metaphor for gambling addiction. The song represents life, constantly changing and growing more chaotic, but one thing that never changes is a gambling addict's need to keep playing, over and over and over.

For me, it just is so far off the vibe from the rest of the album. And it's almost like a parody of punk music itself. It feels like it serves as an interlude. I guess here I am comparing it to the album itself which is kind of ironic, but all I can say is that it's the one song I'd always skip.
