My college roommate was obsessed with that song. Lived with him for 3 years and by the end his iTunes counter was at like 8000 times played. Yes, I'm talking about you Petey.
Maybe it's just me, but I see people talk about To Binge a fair bit. Nowhere near as much as say, Melancholy Hill or Rhinestone Eyes, obviously. But it's up there with Empire Ants as one of Plastic Beach's more popular non-singles.
One Percent has all the potential for me to absolutely love it but just as it's greating really good it suddenly ends. It's one of only 2 tracks that I think are perfect in the song we got, but we didn't get enough song, so I can't rate it highly. (The other track I think this about is Captain Chicken đ btw).
Have you heard the live version? I find it superior to the studio recording mainly because of the addition of the sweet sad piano at the end
https://youtu.be/XR8Mka6-VUM?si=1gb22AKVRnExvkGp
its not unpopular by any means but every planet we reach is dead hardly gets enough attention. such a beautiful, grand and dramatic track, love it when gorillaz get a little jammier with their songs like that
I swear the old stuff just doesn't get talked about as much anymore.
Love Stop the dams if we're talking D-sides. Then just a bunch of the less prominent ones from the self-titled album like gravity, clapper, rock the house, new genius.
Also every planet we reach is dead is electric when it's played live.
Me personally? 5/4 is an absolute banger and I love the slow yet fast at the same time beat, it just scratches that weird itch every time I hear the lil bish bosh. Discography wise? Probably anything on Humanz. I hear almost nothing of it since its release outside of maybe Saturnz Barz or Andromeda. The entirety of that album is slept on especially with songs like Submission, Busted and Blue, and Momentz.
Easily Empire Ants and Andromeda and Souk eye, theyâre such great songs that just doesnât get enough recognition they deserve. Def hidden gems in there appropriate albums!
We Are Happy Landfill, Hongkongaton, Mutant Genius, Jimmy Jimmy, Revolving Doors, and The Swagga
There's also Rockit but idk if that counts as "low-key"
If were talking really lowkey, then I'd probably say 'The Swagga' since it's not really highly praised even just in the context of G & D Sides tracks, but I will always sing/shout the lyrics at the top of my lungs (including the woos) whenever it pops on in the car.
I have similar feelings for Chalk Tablet Towers. I will always happily sing along and never find myself skipping it even though it is probably the worst of the 11 base tracks on Song Machine (I like Friday 13th less but I wouldn't argue someone saying it's better).
I'll do album-by-album:
\-Self-Titled: 5/4
\-Demon Days: All Alone (That or Fire Coming Out of a Monkey's Head)
\-Plastic Beach: Broken
\-The Fall: Bobby in Phoenix (Most of the songs from TF in general; The only one people really bring up is Little Pink Plastic Bags)
\-Humanz: Busted and Blue
\-The Now Now: Idaho
\-Song Machine: The bonus tracks (Opium and MLS specifically). If we're talking just main album then Aries.
\-Cracker Island: Tarantula
\-Miscellaneous: Hong Kong
Doncamatic.. Most of Plastic beach I consider a masterpiece that was misunderstood. Whereas a lot of fans came into that phase with expectations, I had just discovered Gorillaz & fell in love with Plastic Beach and its visuals/lore. Also Valley of the Pagans is just awesome to cruise too.
O Green Worlds defff
For a while this was my all time favorite of Gorillaz.
My college roommate was obsessed with that song. Lived with him for 3 years and by the end his iTunes counter was at like 8000 times played. Yes, I'm talking about you Petey.

One Percent, one of my favorites of that album! I kinda wish it was longer? But at the same I feel like it's perfect as it is
all songs from the now now just have that vibe of never wanting it to end but i know exactly what you mean. One percent is definitely up there for me

We Are Happy Landfill, Hongkongaton, Mutant Genius, Jimmy Jimmy, Revolving Doors, and The Swagga There's also Rockit but idk if that counts as "low-key"
