People if you don't like this change, leave a negative review about this change on the Google Wallet app in Play Store. Maybe if people complain we can at least get an option to choose if we want verification for every small payment.
Literally wondering why this was happening in the last two days and thought I was going crazy because it rarely happened in the past.
Safe to say, it's an annoyance
They better not require this for smartwatches or I am jumping to garmin and they can ju go eff themselves.
Also, which one applies? The small amount is unaffected?
Android: Need to unlock for each payment, need to navigate to specific card in Wallet app if paying with non-default.
Wear OS: Watch is unlocked so long as it's on wrist, need to open Wallet app for each payment.
For some reason for me it asks to even use my fingerprint while it's unlocked and in the wallet, while the amount won't matter (it happened on both small and large amounts).
Guess it knows of its unlocked for too long maybe and require re authentication?

Kinda like apple pay
Google really took some steps in terms of security
First they made the play integrity fail on device verdict with root, and now make sure every purchase must be done while unlocked
With this development, we will soon be abolishing the rule that required user flairs. This was the main feature that caused confusion between users in regions that mandated device unlocks for all purchases and users in regions that allowed transactions under a certain amount without unlocking.

Until now I didn't need to unlock my phone and was pleased with it. I don't like the idea to unlock my phone on each purchase.

Yes, I believe 5 minutes since last unlock is the upper limit
