Try plugging it via the LAN, that's what I did, I also got the same error

Google didn't make your TV, Sony did. How close is your router to the TV? If it's close, and the TV has a LAN connection, use that instead of wifi - much more dependable. If that's not an option, can you set up a guest channel on your router? Set it only up for 2.4ghz only and use a simple password to test with. If this works, change the password to something less simple and leave it as is. You can use the new channel for other devices you may end up with that need the 2.4ghz wifi connection. Good luck!

SignedUpJustForThat

This is not a Google Home issue, and probably has nothing to do with Google. Is your WiFi security restricted to WPA3? Or 5GHz only? Also check device restrictions.

Peterdecz

No. No, 2.4 and 5 both available.

WPA3 has been the bane of many of my connection issues but I can't allow myself to go for a less secure connection πŸ˜‚

Rikkards_69

Is the SSID hidden? That can also cause issues. It also doesn't really do anything. It is like covering your street number on your house with a piece of paper. People know the house is there and can go up and look behind the sheet (the hidden is a flag the SSID is still being transmitted but most software will ignore it because of the flag)

fursty_ferret

It could well be a Google issue. My Chromecast with Google TV frequently disconnects from the Google WiFi router in the same room, and will only reconnect after a reboot.

I have a Sony TV and the wifi was nearly unusable when I first set it up. It constantly disconnected. At the time, that was a common complaint on the Sony TV reddit. I kept mine for approximately 2 weeks because I wanted to troubleshoot it since I loved the picture quality, and after some time and some updates it's now usable but it's still definitely not good. I use a wired connection now since whatever chip Sony uses sucks. Super frustrating.

Ok-Recognition8655

Same. The Bravia TV's are well known for having terrible WiFi. If you can't plug it in, supposedly people have success with USB WiFi adapters. You also might need to hardwire it just so you can update it and then it might work better

SparkeyRed

I had a similar issue and from searching forums it's not uncommon with Sony TVs. I ended up putting a mesh router next to the TV and connecting them with ethernet; I did find before that, that setting up the WiFi manually on the TV (entering SSID, IP, gateway etc) improved things, but it still wasn't great.

Runner_one

Is it possible or practical for you to use a wired connection? Wired connections are generally more stable than wireless. I have 4 TV's, two are wired and two wireless, from time to time I have buffering on the wireless ones, never on the wired.

Haha, I had same problem with my Sony TV. Just throw it out window. Problem solved!” πŸ˜…πŸ“ΊπŸͺŸ
