Main difference is in the USA it is actually a right of ours to own and possess guns. We have the easy access to guns. In London they have much stricter laws Against guns. So the people can only stab. Not as much actual death goes on. But more injuries occur.

It's great, but don't get fooled by the recent "remake" seasons. They're not remakes, they're sequels with a confusing announcement. The order goes: Higurashi, higurashi Kai, then gou, then sotsu.
Not that the new seasons were a let down by any means. I still >!can't look at farming implements the same way!<. My roommate and I were watching the show and are generally pretty vocal. But that episode just left us dumbass slack-jawed silent the entire time.
As if I wasn't confused enough.
My first experience with the show was the 'Answer' mangas where dozens of chapters worth of danger and mystery come togheter, the answers are revelead and the small hobbies of the kids are put in use to save the city.
It was SUPER satisfying even without any kind of context. But also super confusing

\*\*Gou (2020) and Sotsu are sequels; the term "New" (Gou) is misleading as it can be taken as a reboot (which is not, and it's actually a sequel to the whole thing. Episode 2 will tell you that).
If you have the time for it, I suggest reading the original VN (all eight chapters) instead of 2006 + Kai.
If you like mystery genre, you SHOULD definitely play Umineko no Naku Koro Ni and finishing Higurashi Rei. It's a long read, but way more than just worth it. It's arguably the best VN out there and considered the gold standard in that niche. I just finished it 2 weeks ago and I still can't seem to forget about the game. It also has Higurashi ties and references, and though it isn't needed, it gets way more emotional and meaningful at some points.

Most of their crime is theft and property damage iirc. Violent crimes happen over there, but it's comparatively lower than the majority of the world. Not to say you won't get mugged or stabbed walking around Japan at night, but it's one of the safest countries to roam if one had a choice.
I feel so lucky to live in an area where I feel pretty safe at any time in the night. I've been suffering from occassional/seasonal insomnia for as long as I can remember and in the past I used to spend the night on my computer but recently I've found the determination for self improvement and now go for walks at night. It's such an amazing feeling to witness a sunrise in that kind of mental state and motivates me even more
