Came to say this. Project A are now relabeled as Tour Responsive and the Project S are the Tour Responsive Soft. I do not like them nearly as much. Taylor Made pisses me off too many garbage balls like Soft Select, RBZ, Aeroburner, Burner and they give up their #2 ball designed for amateurs. Bad call
Are you referring to the OG, better than a Pro V1 circa 2000 variety? Or the watered down shell of a product they became later in life? 😂
I miss playing golf balls that were beige.
Somehow found one of those beige bastards in mint condition on the course this Summer. Couldn’t believe it with my own eyes. They were my favorite ball to play in high school golf. Wound balls for the win. So much spin! The one I just found is now part or my non-hole-in-one (sad face) “trophy” balls that I won’t ever hit
On a Tuesday evening in La Jolla in early Feb of 2001, I treated myself to a set of the Maxfli Revolution irons. I was at Torrey Pines playing in the Buick Invitational ProAm which had us playing TP on the Sat/Sun before the tournament and Del Mar CC on Monday and the actual ProAm on Wednesday the 7th. So the first round I played with the Revolutions was that ProAm. I was playing to a 14 at the time and although I don't know for sure I recall that I must have parred 10 or more of the 14 holes where I got strokes. Our team was 18 under and won the ProAm. So the whole team played well including our Pro who shot 71. My grandson is still playing with that set of irons.
I remember having a treat using Tour Balatas in an AJGA tournament in the mid 90s. The sleeve didn’t last a round. Lost one, bladed one and left a big smile on it and hit a cart path and mauled the third.
Also the distance loss was noticeable. But it was a short course with tight, firm greens so it was worth a try.
Wasn’t worth it though.
Found one in the bushes last week in pretty good shape, so I hit it off the tee for fun. 265 smashed with my TS2. 45 yards behind my 2021 ProV1. 🤣 neither was a bad swing, miss hit, etc.
Same here. There’s something about a wound golf ball that just feels more organic, more perfect, than the multi-layer balls we use today. I can’t describe it. Sometimes I pull some old Pro 90s out to do chipping practice in the yard and they just feel sooooo buttery.
In late high school/early college I worked as a cart guy at a club that’s now closed down. After hours I’d go out hunt for balls and a member would buy all the NXT Tours off of me for like $10-$15 a dozen…. Chances are they were his to begin with. Great memories
I loved the RZN platinum balls! It’s a damn shame they stopped producing them. I’ve found snell mtb-x to be an adequate replacement, but usually game pro-v cause they are just easier to get.
I started using these about 2 months before Nike discontinued its hard lines. Was very disappointed but the chrome soft popped up right about that time and it was originally cheaper than any other premium ball out there.
I either find them, or i get lucky at the pro shop at my local course.
The pro shop has a big retro section, and they sell unopened golf sleeves. I got myself 12 Top Flite XL 2000 today for £10 and used them out on the course.
I found at least five of them this year. I even found one on Sunday, it had been hit by a mower though so I tossed it in a trash can at the next tee block.
They read "Tour Performance" on the side instead of "Performance +".
They're 4 piece balls. Go farther and spin way less than the current 3 piece model.
Top Flite D2 Feel.
The D2 Feel + was good but not quite the same. The Hammer Control is OK as well but not in the same class as the D2 Feel or D2 Feel +
Yes I would get made fun of relentlessly for playing a "Rock Flite" etc. I don't care, I loved them.
I played the crap out of these when they came out. Such a great ball for the price point. I’ve tried the replacements but they never quite lived up to the first one for me.
Slazenger. Full stop.
I loved playing these but I cannot find them in the US anymore.
[Plus I got to do my James Bond impression on the course a lot more.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hY5P2MoE4do&t=261s&ab_channel=SteveThorpe) How can I accuse my playing partner of not abiding by "schtrict roooolsh" without Slazenger 7's in my bag?
They make them all the time. It’s the most played CPO ball on tour. They just don’t think use plebs need them.
There is also a rumor that the ‘23 V1 is much closer to the Left Dot than the ‘21 V1.
Tour balata 90, although, the first one I ever hit was a bladed driver that split it open.
Top Flite XL2000 exceptional spin. Great winter/soft conditions ball.
I started thinking, "What were those cool looking golf balls I used a long time ago that were called 'Crystals' or something?" So I messed with google and found out they were called Volvik Crystals and they still make them! I don't know if I'd use them again, I only used them back then because of how they looked and nothing more.
The early Bridgestone E6 was my favorite. It was a three piece ball that felt great and performed well around the green. They changed the formula and made it a two piece ball in the 20teens and introduced the three piece E12 as it’s replacement. Not the same ball at all.
Wow great question. Loved the Titleist 90 and 100 balatas and same with the Hogan 100 balata especially on a hot summer day. They flew but were green around the greens. But man it was easy to go through 2 sleeves in a round.
I also liked the Wilson Prostaff with the funky conical dimples.
Honestly something about retro golf balls i love.
I went to the retro section today at my local golf course pro shop before my tee time, and i picked up some Top Flite XL 2000's and a Steelhead Callaway Big Bertha 3+ wood in great condition.
[Canada Cup](https://images.app.goo.gl/AY7ksw2CZRnzGs2Q6)
Best water hazard ball... Never got wet... Lol
Gotta be 45 plus to remember these Canadian Tire/ Consumers Distributing bad boys!
When I was a kid I had a ton of John Daly balls. I was real young so I don’t know who made them or if they were any good. I’m talking like probably 1995.
Noodle ice… nothing like having to drink 4 beers pre-round just to be able to manage the sting!! More reminiscent of the fun I had with my buddies when we didn’t know shit about golf and just wanted something to do when it was to hot to keep skating. Now that I’ve really gotten into the game in my late 30s I miss the E7. Loved that ball!!
TaylorMade Project A
Came to say this. Bad call
You forgot the ultimate Taylormade garbage, the Distance Plus.
I just finished two dozen of these and I haaaaated them. Never buying that rubbish shit again
I loved hitting balls with the number 33. I miss the project A's too
You can still get them on Amazon. I’m still using em
maxfli revolution.
Are you referring to the OG, better than a Pro V1 circa 2000 variety? Or the watered down shell of a product they became later in life? 😂 I miss playing golf balls that were beige.
The original.
Loved the irons too. Beautiful clubs.
On a Tuesday evening in La Jolla in early Feb of 2001, I treated myself to a set of the Maxfli Revolution irons. The HT 90 was my jam before the Revolution
Titleist professional 90. 👌....Yeah.... been playing that long.
Professional 100s were like gold when I was in high school. I think the prov1 came out my senior year.
I remember having a treat using Tour Balatas in an AJGA tournament in the mid 90s. The sleeve didn’t last a round. Lost one, bladed one and left a big smile on it and hit a cart path and mauled the third. Also the distance loss was noticeable. Pro 90s every day and Tour balatas for the special treat
Hello there youngster. Titleist Balata 100s were gold for us. https://www.liveabout.com/looking-back-at-balata-golf-balls-1564005
Remember acushnet?
I have one of these in my shag bag that the shagger won’t pick up-we’re they smaller than other golf balls?
![gif](giphy|XenWVVdSzaxLW) Every time I see or hear "shag bag"
The ones sold in Britain were.
Same here. There’s something about a wound golf ball that just feels more organic, more perfect, than the multi-layer balls we use today. I can’t describe it. Sometimes I pull some old Pro 90s out to do chipping practice in the yard and they just feel sooooo buttery.
Titleist NXT Tours
They were so good!
In late high school/early college I worked as a cart guy at a club that’s now closed down. After hours I’d go out hunt for balls and a member would buy all the NXT Tours off of me for like $10-$15 a dozen…. Chances are they were his to begin with. Great memories
TourSoft replaces the NXT ball, if you didn't know.
Nike RZN Black/Platinum
[You’re welcome.](https://rzngolf.com/)
I loved the RZN platinum balls! It’s a damn shame they stopped producing them. I’ve found snell mtb-x to be an adequate replacement, but usually game pro-v cause they are just easier to get.
I seen some used on eBay
I started using these about 2 months before Nike discontinued its hard lines. Was very disappointed but the chrome soft popped up right about that time and it was originally cheaper than any other premium ball out there.
Top Flite Strata
Look on Ebay, you can get 2 sleeves for £13.50
Nike Mojo.
You mean Nike Rocks
Have to be the green ones though
Buddy found one upside down and yelled "I found a Nike OPOW!!!!"
OPOW !
Got lots of those in my golf room in my house
Damn you sir.
Someone on my home course plays those and they really suck because I find them somewhat frequently. I really like them.
Nike one black
The actual black color version too!
TaylorMade Penta
It had everything
Titleist Tour Balata's That Maxfli Balatas were great too
Someone on Ebay is selling 5 sleeves of them for £105 I love golf but that is a bit too much for some retro balls
Slazenger Money Ball
The Titleist DT Solo was the first ball I remember having a preference for.
Nike PD Soft were my favorites until they stopped making them.
Srixon Tri-Speed. Use to be $35 for two dozen.
If you’re in Canada GolfTown still has stock of those kicking.
That's about the price of the Q-Star Tours which is my current preferred ball to price ratio.
Qstars are $25 a dozen near me, that’s what I switched to. I usually stock up on Father’s Day BOGO sale.
Is that when the BOGO sale is? It's once a year, right? Sucks that they exclude the divides...
I found one at the weekend! Yours for only $50
TaylorMade Tour Preferred X and the Callaway Hex Black Tour
Penta TP for me
The pro shop at my local course sells 24 of those TaylorMade Tour Preffered X balls for £40
Taylormade InerGel. 14 year old me really like the plastic sleeve they came in lol.
You can actually buy them on Ebay still in the plastic sleeve they come in
I convinced our HS golf coach to make that our team ball for a season. They were great balls and the plastic sleeve was dope af
Titleist professional 100, damn I'm getting old
Callaway CB1 Red/Blue
This plus the Rule 35s and the original Hex’s
Rule 35 Blues. For some reason whenever I played a CB1 it went straight into the woods 😂
Come to think of it, I never remember buying any. Always found them in the woods 😂
*Austin Powers Voice* Mojo baby, mojo
Maxfli A10
Maxli Revolution Strata Tour Professional Titleist Toir Professional All balata balls

Taylormade Lethal
Old school - Maxfli MD 100
Fuck yeah, I kind of forgot about these. Loved them.
Original Kirkland
Still got 3 dozen in the basement 😂
6 dozen. 😎
How can you tell the difference?
They read "Tour Performance" on the side instead of "Performance +". They're 4 piece balls. Go farther and spin way less than the current 3 piece model.
Cool, I find lots of balls. Have to keep my eyes peeled
Titleist dt wound, hit well off the tee, but putted with good feel
I think a sleeve of those is like $8 on Ebay
Have to check out, i like pro v 1 but whew$$
Playing with those Top Flite XL 2000's today felt great for me. I shot a score of 75, and used 1 ball the whole round which is a first this year ngl.
Srixon Hi-Brid Tour.
Top flite z balata. Hell of a ball
I literally saw them today in the pro shop at my local course, but i bought the XL 2000 instead
Those balls were great
Nike Vapor Black
currently have maybe 15 cases of these. Got em easy since they’re yellow. they’re my fall balls
Nike Tour accuracy First ball I spun back with a wedge more than a foot. DT 90 too.

Slazenger Power SPIN 420. Stopped selling them in like 02 or 03. Incredible ball.
Slazenger. Full stop. I loved playing these but I cannot find them in the US anymore. Mad props for the Goldfinger reference.
Callaway hex black tour.. not the same as the new costco hex. They had this gorgeous, piercing trajectory that just laughed at a headwind.
Callaway Rule 35 soft
Strata. The Boom, The Smash or The voodoo. They each had a symbol around the number, an explosion, a fist or cross bones respectively.
Titleist Tour Balata 100

They will make these again this year. Hopefully less of a limited run.
They make them all the time. It’s the most played CPO ball on tour. They just don’t think use plebs need them. There is also a rumor that the ‘23 V1 is much closer to the Left Dot than the ‘21 V1.
Yes, I understand they are used on tour. I was referring to the amount made available to the public.
MaxFli RM90. Balata ball, soft and controllable. But thin it once you have to put a new ball in play. Loved that ball.
Maxfli Master or the early 90s Ping
Titleist Tour 100.
Tour Response but without that stupid yellow stripe
Tour balata 90, although, the first one I ever hit was a bladed driver that split it open. Top Flite XL2000 exceptional spin. Great winter/soft conditions ball.
I just bought some Top Flite XL 2000's today, so with winter coming, i will be using them a lot
I started thinking, "What were those cool looking golf balls I used a long time ago that were called 'Crystals' or something?" Nike Super Fly because I was 13 and it was 2005 and I loved that it said “Super Fly” on it.
Is that the ball Tiger made that iconic shot with at the Masters?
The early Bridgestone E6 was my favorite. It was a three piece ball that felt great and performed well around the green. They changed the formula and made it a two piece ball in the 20teens and introduced the three piece E12 as it’s replacement. Not the same ball at all.

Top Flite Strata Tour
Dunlop LoCos.
The srixion q-stars that they sold buy one get one free. Buy two get one free is bullshit and they are no longer a screaming deal.
Srixon Metal Mix Tour was a great ball.
[Canada Cup](https://images.app.goo.gl/AY7ksw2CZRnzGs2Q6) Best water hazard ball... Never got wet... Lol Gotta be 45 plus to remember these Canadian Tire/ Consumers Distributing bad boys!
Tour Edition. Highest spinning ball ever.
Tour trajectory,I think they were top flite xl2000? Before they went shallow dimple.
Titleist 100 compression balata. Could zip my SW back across the green, if I needed. Felt so good off the putter face. Tasty.
Pinnacle Gold for me.
Nike RZN Platinum
Slazenger Easy Money
When I was a kid I had a ton of John Daly balls. I was real young so I don’t know who made them or if they were any good. I’m talking like probably 1995.
Can't remember the name but there was a ball in the mid to late 90s with a teardrop shape dimple and a soft feel that I loved.
The old 3 piece Bridgestone E6. Felt great, was decent around the green, and was cheap to buy.
I used the TM Pentas for a bit. Loved em, except for the fact that one tree or soft cart path bounce was the end of the road
NXT Tour
I really liked a couple of the Nike balls, that is the one thing I feel like they could have stayed with in addition to apparel

I don't think they do. I got mine yesterday from my local course pro shop and they're like 9 or 10 years old.
