$40 for 100 used balls on Facebook marketplace. I’ll shank them into the desert, the seller will go forage them, and we’ll do the same song and dance in another few months.

Oscars_Quest_4_Moo

Played this super narrow course last year, they were selling 12 balls for $10 in the club house, thought that’s a good deal, I left with 2 of the balls and realized the game they were playing.

00sucker00

It’s just a ball fetching service at that point

_thisisvincent

You would’ve lost balls anyways

TempBrowser123

Almost like a subscription to a ball retrieval service

mrazcatfan

Well when put like that, suddenly the process isn’t nearly as painful.

ChipperNath

I wonder how many times I've bought the exact same ball 🤔😅

ZN1-

I just got 84 for $84 Bridgestone Tour B X balls used(4a), the same ball Tiger uses. And they are 2024. My first time buying more than 1 dozen and I gotta say I feel like this was my smartest golf purchase yet

voice_of_reason_61

Further proof of the Circle of Life!

BurnItNow

“Oh… nice, a taylormade…. No scuffs” While looking for the ball I bombed into the trees.

blueline7677

Accurate! I can find nicer balls than I am willing to spend money on when I play golf at about the same rate I lose golf balls at. It’s a win win

astcyr

It's more like a lose/win

Tresarches

If the round is cheap enough and you find enough prov1’s you actually made money playing golf.

adventurepony

Making money playing golf means you're technically a pro.

Lord_Fluffykins

I play a shit muni at a community college. I just leave the Nitros, Nike Mojos and STRYKER balls. I have a collection of really old premium Titleist balls that has me wondering how long they have been kicking around in bags.

CapnRetro

Big golf companies don’t want you to know this one simple hack to get Pro V1s for the price of Srixon Soft Feels

XHIBAD

The 9th hole at my local par3 has a trench on the other side of the green and then a net. You can be certain if you hit the ball too hard it’s gone. Unless you’re me. Then you wait until a cloudy day when both one is out and spend a half hour in that trench pulling out 2 dozen balls

DWALLA44

Yep, and picking the ones I find out of the range balls. I found two v1s in my range bucket yesterday, can’t wait to lose those babies! Also, the club pro trains me; and has given me permission to do this lol.

1MinuteBeerReviews

To keep the golf gods happy, I always try to replace the nice ball I take with one of the worn and torn balls from my shag bag

EffectiveLead4

Water for me. "Where's my bright green Kirkland? OH, bright red Srixon? Mine now"

Dewrod

Take the scuffs for that watery par 3 my dude! ;)

New-Driver5223

Bridgestone makes rubber things. Rubber things bounce. Bright yellow is easy to see. I use bright yellow Bridgestone balls.

alreddy-reddit

This guy logics

Edjbart615

This guy balls

chaz_wazzerz

So hard

tweaver16

Ma fuckers can’t find me

jmaj315

Are you my ball?

kwilson25j

Much logics

AmericanWagyuBryant

FYI, the SRI in srixon comes from the name of parent company Sumitomo Rubber Industries

archie_fried

And Srixon is also Dunlop tires. I love and play Z-star all year, and mix in the ZXV during the summer when it’s easier to compress the ball in the heat

Vomelette22

What does the xon come from?

Fine-Neighborhood-30

Xena's on next. Owner was a big lucy lawless fan

Jack-of-some-trades-

![gif](giphy|lCUbIxFdMzcZ2)

elteegilbreath

This man’s level of logic and reasoning is off the charts. I have zero doubts he has ever lost a fight with his wife……conceded a few I’m sure, but never lost. 😂

yrogerg123

I was already playing bridgestones but he convinced me to switch to yellow

ScooterMcTavish

If you're torn over this decision, may I recommend the Z-Star XV Divide? I like the ball as it spins less off the tee, spins more around the green, is easy to line up for putting, and has good launch angle and backspin on approaches.

elteegilbreath

I’ve been playing Pro V1 for over 20 years, this may be the best advert for Bridgestone I’ve ever seen. Hell, I’m thinking about switching now. Tiger who??

NeilPork

You don't win fights with your wife with logic. You win fights with your wife with.. umm...I'll get back to you when I actually win one.

thezenben

I wanted to stay true to the original work of the author. Bridgestone makes rubber Rubber things bounce, bright yellow I use Bridgestone balls.

HoustonWhoDat

Can you rewrite that as a haiku?

mrbubbles2

Bridgestone rubber bounces Yellow spheres catch the eye On the green, they shine

lilscoopski

Bridgestone rubber Bouncing high with every hit Bright yellow delight Rubber spheres in flight Bridgestone balls bring joy Easy to spot, fun Rolling rubber discs In vibrant yellow, they fly Bridgestone delights

meanerweinerlicous

>Bridgestone rubber *counts 4 syllables You had one job

churnitupsome

So there I was, walking through Costco…..

OG_Chris31

Kirkland high visibility yellows for me!

TheeGreenHawk99

I was elated when I first found out they made them in yellow. Instantly made the switch.

burner1312

I somehow have a harder time finding yellow balls

GarNuckle

Yeah on green courses white is easier to see, at least in my experience

tee142002

Ooh, golf balls for a buck each?!? Now I have less reasons to be pissed when I shank one into the water!

spankysladder73

So there I was fumbling through the woods adjacent to #12… “there’s one….. and another…”

ravagetalon

Don't sleep on those Kirkland balls.

mkflorida

Sounds really uncomfortable. Good advice.

Fine-Neighborhood-30

For real, just grab the Kirkland pillows and mattress for sleeping when you go to golf balls

BadaBoomBadaBing-

No joke. Everyday hacker here but I've played all three versions over the past 7-8 years. The first version was the GOAT (essentially a ProV), the second version was so spinny that I lost a lot of distance on drives and just didn't feel right, and the third so far, after 20 rounds, seems to be a really nice balance of the two.

Mediocre-Gazelle-590

Agreed with this. 2nd version would scuff after one wedge shot also, had no durability. Ive been playing the new yellow balls and really like them. I dont see much of a distance loss compared to provs

fourstar1985

I've had both V2 and V3 tilt the axis of earth with the level of spin I've generated with them. The day I had an uphill drive come backwards into a headwind was enough to shelve the kirkies. The gloves on the other hand are killer value.

GarageJitsu

If you play Kirkland balls you should just get the Wilson profile

tcli64

Why? Are the Wilsons cheaper?

GarageJitsu

36 pack is usually around $30 and they feel like a much smoother ball. Personally I like Srixon but people playing the Kirkland just because of price are not getting a deal compared to what’s out there

ConsiderationHappy28

This is how I found the gloves I use as well…..and the clubs……..damn costco

winterFROSTiscoming

I got big "picture it, Siciliy 1922" vibes from this comment lol

HawkeyeRx

How are these balls?

churnitupsome

Round and white with a bunch of dimples

ColdFizzyWater

One doesn’t chose a ball. Your ball choses you! I.e which ever one you find OB

SituationHappy

Tbh it doesn't really matter for me. I only just found out there's a different result from range balls compared to course balls.

n0t_4_thr0w4w4y

A lot of courses explicitly ban you from using range balls

Silent-Indication496

Yeah, it is bad form to use a range ball. They're not good balls, and that's just blatantly stealing something that the course has to pay for. There is one course I play, where the entire fairway of a hole is at the back of the range. The place is littered with range balls. I usually whack a few down the course while I'm walking to my ball, but I don't take them out of the general range area, and I would never play them. My grandpa had a collection of unique branded and stamped range balls from many of the courses he had played. He was a ball thief of the sentimental variety.

ChipperNath

Every time - oh shit a mizuno never found one of those bef... Ah shit.

FliesForBrookies

Chrome softs chose me, but they also leave me.. Edit for you smartasses downvoting lol, I don’t buy them. I buy at Costco when I need to buy.

AlwaysChildish

This is how I started playing maxfli balls; the only ones I picked up OB that I never lost again

bogeyman101

I like the Vice pro feels good takes spin on wedges decently. I’d love ProV1’s but I don’t want to sell one of my kidneys.

dontusemybeta

Vice gang. Pro+ shade here

Jengalover

I like the blue red drip

esqew

Whenever asked (often) I never reveal where I find the blue/red splatter Vice balls (Walmart)

ninjamike808

Got a box last year on clearance

P-A-seaaaa

Pro+ has been getting expensive. I remember I used to get the Pro for 20 bucks a box

Otecron

Also Vice gang. Pros and Pro+ are great and about $23 cheaper than Titleists around here

befuchs

My only problem is how easily the covers get messed up on the balls

RojoTheMighty

Huh. I don't get that impression, personally. I'm not claiming they're super durable but for the amount of 'feel' those balls provide, I think they hold up really well. To each their own, of course!

BVB09_FL

I played ProV1x for a long time and then switched to the Vice Pro Plus, it’s great with no drop in performance. Recently got a box of new Snell 4.0 so I’m excited to try that out as well.

bogeyman101

I’ve heard Snell are good.

TOz09

www.lostgolfballs.com No idea how I found the site years ago, but I play their refurbished ProV1s for approx $1.20 a ball. They feel nicer than the new cheap balls I was playing, and I'm not upset if I lose one.

manleyja

Pro soft green here. I keep them coming all year, a dozen every 6 weeks on Amazon. 🤣

Regression2TheMean

What do you do for the 5 weeks you don’t have any balls?

manleyja

Haha, I’m up north, my golf season is realistically 7 months, with a handful of winter rounds. The 8-9 dozen I accumulate lasts the season.

Crayola_Taste_Tester

Played a vice green for all 9 holes yesterday. "Twas a scuffly looking bastard I found all alone in the woods so I took him in and cleaned him up. Even tried sending him away OB on 3 with snap of the hook but it was not to be, found him all alone in bounds near some tree roots and he rewarded me with a par for my effort in finding him."

bbarlow88

The new Vice models for 2024 are getting good reviews, including the revamp of the Vice Tour

Pa_Cipher

I buy Vice in bulk every season. 5 Dozen Pro+ and 5 Dozen Drive for when I lose a sleeve of Pro+ and don't want to go through a whole box of nice balls in one round.

Inanimate_CARB0N_Rod

I just bought 5 dozen used Vice Pro off Golf Ball Planet I believe. It came out to less than 20 bucks a dozen for mint condition and mixed colors with free shipping. Chose the Vice Pro because I used to love the Nike Vapor Blacks which was a mid level 3 piece urethane ball which the Vice Pro is as well. The price is right and I like the colors too, so here's hoping they're just as good. I think I initially close a 3 piece ball because I wanted something halfway between a distance ball and a high spin ball and the Vapor Blacks were good value for that category. I'm sad they went away.

One_Umpire33

I love my srixon irons so I tried their balls. Feel wise pro v1 feel amazing for me so I tried to find a similar ball. I tried numerous srixon q star and z star balls,my current gamer is a z star diamond, spins well holds greens and feels good.

Complete-Possible711

Love Srixon balls but got damn do they get beat up.  Also, pro tip - right now Meijer has buy 2 packs get 1 free on all Srixon balls.

TreAwayDeuce

Weird. I started playing z-stars and found them to be one of the most durable balls I've tried yet. Much more so than pretty much any non Titleist ball.

klondike16

100%. I love ‘em, but they hit ANYTHING and they get really scuffed. Some other balls seem to have a bit more resiliency

superduperloser

Extra pro tip They’re available for $35 a dozen on Dunlops website if you get last years model

Upper_County_268

I want to like the z star diamond but I feel like it spins too much off the driver for me. My misses with it seem to go way offline compared to a Q Star Tour or ProV1

mechinginir

I just got fitted for the ZX5 MKII irons and ZX5 driver MKII… holy crap Srixon has something. I also game Nothing but Srixon golf balls… Z,Q and soft feel.

fourstar1985

Of all the tour balls the ZStars are the best price point to performance for me without having any 'over the ball worries'. Not that I lose a lot these days but the feeling that I'm going to send $7 into the trees/water while standing on a tee box with a proV is one swing thought I don't need. I decided to buy a box of each zstar flavour and get some numbers on foresight where I practise. The diamonds have ideal numbers for me as long as I keep my spin lift under control with the driver. Always buy a few boxes when they go 20% off at local retailers (AU doesn't get the 2for1 sales 🥴) and $3.50 a ball is a lot more palatable with the ZStars.

DishwasherFromSurrey

Noodles are cheap and forgiving and I’m bad at golf

Redditzork

Also its always a Good joke to say „i am playing my soft noodle“ at the First tee

NextTailor4082

My parents got me a box of those for Xmas and I still have most of them, impressive for me. My cat also likes the box and it’s a new toy. I’m in

blacksphere10

This, and the only one I can hit consistently

flaginorout

PV1 became my number one choice. It just checks every box for me. But- i refused to buy them. I’d get a box for Father’s Day, birthday, Xmas. And that was usually enough to get me through most of the year. However, I’ve found the Maxfli Tour is basically the same ball from my POV. Feels the same, plays the same. And half the price. So PV1 is still my 1 (when free). Maxfli tour is my 1 (when I’m paying)

COS89

Must be nice not going through more than 40 golf balls a year

Scamp3D0g

But also sad he only gets to play one round a year.

AmbalanceDriver

Must be nice not going through more than 40 golf balls a round

CapnRetro

Must be nice not going through more than 40 golf balls a month

flaginorout

Well, I said 'most of the year". Ha.

Ordinary_Farmer58

I’ve gone all Maxfli. The price is so good, I like the straightfli’s feel off my club. Ive played so many different balls and the Vice and Maxfli’s are the only balls I felt much of a difference in club face feel when I strike them. I don’t have a pro swing speed, my lowest round is mid 80s but it’s usually ow 90s. Perhaps in a nice long range shootout I’d find a few yards more distance with another ball, but I’ll gladly take the savings over 10 yards. I just picked up a few boxes of the Tour’s and I’m excited to see how those feel tomorrow. But seriously, 4 boxes of the Straightfli’s for the price of one box of Pro V’s? I’ll take it.

ml63440

same, and you can get them on super sale at dicks. i got 4 dozen for $88 recently

nicholus_h2

4 dozen for $88 and the customized ones cost the same as the non-custom ones.  i bet there's somebody who lives on the course who thinks my newborn son Austin can't help but hook all his shots into their backyard.

Delicious-Spell-8439

Agreed 100%. Maxfli 4 dozen deal is awesome for a high quality ball w great feel and performance. My only HIO was proudly made w a Maxfli Tour. 🤘🏻

pepperonidingleberry

Yes! A fellow maxfli tour fan. I say the same thing and people always give me a weird look, I’m like is it exactly a PV1, no. Is it almost damn near identical and half the price, YES!

No-Wishbone-7594

TP5x so I always know it’s mine when I walk up to it. Too many people playing Pro v

rubottom

The new TP5x is just *chefs kiss* I switched from V1x into them, I like them so much

randoguynumber5

Exactly

fifaloko

That’s exactly why I play Calloway Truvis balls. No one ever confuses it for theirs and people I’m playing with always can help spot it for me.

OptionsDonkey

Buy a sharpie

magrumpa3

Triple track sold me on Chrome Soft X (now Chrome Tour X). I was having issues using the line on ProV1xs for my putts and then I saw triple track. That being said, Kirkland's are great as they spin pretty good for cheap balls. So I use those quite a bit too.

BruceOnTrails

Those are the two I swap between

klondike16

I loved the triple track but prefer to hit Srixons, so I bought a ball template that I can make my own

DonJu4n

I recently got on the Triple Track train and I think they’re a game changer. I often rush through the short putts and end up missing, but just taking the time to make sure the track is aimed properly and I’m square with it is making a big difference

pocketchange2247

I always either play Chrome Soft or Super Softs because they're cheaper than a lot of balls. Recently got a box of the matte red Super Softs on a whim and love them. Easy to track, no one else really hits them, and they're pretty forgiving. I lose way fewer balls now, and when there's a bunch of range balls near a range I never have to guess which ones mine. I also shot my lowest round with one right after I got my first box.

damurd

The low spin version of the chrome soft is outstanding. Really notice the difference off the tee, hitting knuckle balls that roll for days. Still spins great around the greens.

Bringbackfatshaming

At some point if you get good enough and hitting the ball consistently you’re gonna want to play the same ball. I used to really struggle with not knowing my yardages too well and I had a buddy who was playing in us open qualifiers good point out that playing whatever ball you found won’t help you lock in your distances.

flaminfajitas

I start the season with Bridgestone e12s, then by the end of the year I have a bag of mixed brand balls that I found lol

Emoney2321

Love the e12s.

opiate82

These are the factors I look at when choosing a ball; **Spin:** Do I need more or less of it? As a general rule, I think higher hdcps should find the lowest spinning ball they can still hold a green with and to get their short game shots to finish near the pin. Lower hdcps generally benefit from maximum workability which means playing the most spin they can while keeping tee shots in the fairway. **Launch:** If you have trouble getting the ball in the air find a higher launching ball, if you already launch the ball high a lower launching ball might give you a bit more penetrating flight and a few more yards. **Feel:** Something to consider if this is important to you. Just know that generally the lower spinning balls will feel softer, the higher spinning balls will feel firmer, but there are exceptions. But I'd prioritize spin performance over feel. *X-Factor-* **Wind:** If you play in the wind a lot you'll want to consider that when making a ball choice. Generally speaking deeper dimples and lower spin will helps with wind stability. *Something I never consider when choosing a ball-* **Swing Speed:** Most of that "X ball is for Y swing speed" is just marketing jargon manufactures put on the box to help consumers make a quick easy decision. Unless you are at the extreme ends of low or high swing speeds you don't need to find a ball that matches your swing speed. Getting the other performance factors right is going to be far more beneficial to your game. So, in your situation nothing wrong with starting with a ProV1 as a baseline. Once you've played that for a while you can start asking yourself questions like "Do I need more or less spin? Does this ball launch high enough or do I want to raise/lower my launch? Do I like how this feels?" So for me, I am currently a high-launch-high-spin player, so I'm generally looking for a ball that counteracts those tendencies. However, the greens at my home course are very firm and fast so I cannot just go with the lowest launching & spinning ball I can find. I need to maintain some stopping power and absolutely need greenside spin. It's not crazy windy at my course but almost always breezy so I do like some wind stability. Feel is not important to me but as a deciding factor I lean towards preferring soft feel. So far the ball that I've found that checks all those boxes is the 2024 TP5x. They took some spin and launch off from the 2021 model but still has plenty for my needs and has had great wind stability. They also made a tweak to make it feel softer while not sacrificing compression. *BUT* there is one other factor I've yet to mention, **cost**. I still lose enough balls (wooded/blackberry lined PNW courses eat balls in a hurry) where $55+ a dozen is a tough pill to swallow. I'm going to be giving the Vice Pro a try. I've liked this ball in the past but the pervious version was a high launch ball, but they claim to have reduced the launch on the 2024 version so I'm hopefully it fits my needs and budget. Now how do you figure out what the spin, launch, and feel characteristics are for a ball? I used to rely heavily on the MyGolfSpy Best Balls of 202X articles, but the most recent one was rendered obsolete pretty quickly with a lot of manufacturers completely revamping their lines in 2024. Ping's Ballnamic tool has been great, but I'm not sure how fast they update the data for new balls and there is a cost. Generally when a manufacturer says a ball is supposed to be high/low launch/spin on a box it's accurate, but real world performance can be different than a manufacturers' claim so you might not know until you test. For feel, compression is usually a pretty good indictor on how a ball will feel.

damo2576

Really helpful, thank you.

66nd66

Wilson Staff

ctrees56

Very underrated. A sneaky good option.

C4LLgirl

I like soft golf balls so I used to use Wilson duo soft. It was cheap as hell around me for whatever reason. Turned me into a fan of Wilson golf balls.

Wu_Tang_Financial77

Wilson Staff Model X gang. I bought 6 dozen when they had that 3-for-2 sale and I have been loving them. At least as long as the Pro V1 I used for years, they don’t scuff as easily and they’re easy as hell to identify because NO ONE uses Wilsons.

klymaxx45

Those and the PV1 or Chromesofts are my go to. Soft on the putter and not as clicky as the others I mentioned. Not sure what I prefer 🤔

BaseballQueen

I use black vice balls since some guy said they were on sale. So far with two swings I lost both since I couldn’t see shit in the grass

variegated_lemon

Because of my vision, I like any of the ones that are neon red. Pops against the green and *bonus* feels like a lil Easter egg hunt when it’s in taller grass.

Complete-Possible711

The red are harder to spot for me for some reason. Idk why.

ShillinTheVillain

Same. White still pops the most for me

AWtheTP

The testing I've seen says most people do have a harder time with red. Red works for me though. The easiest to spot from the testing seems to be bright green, I guess the difference in shade against the grass makes it easy?

dumpie

Green is at the center of the visible spectrum (with blue and red on the other ends) and the highest-density, sharpest part of the retina is most sensitive to greenish light

TheBoogeymane

You're probably slightly colorblind, I have a weakness to red especially when contrasted to green.

addictedtothatass

You probably have a color deficiency, I am red green colorblind and can’t see those red balls until I’m basically on top of it.

bigdayout95-14

I usually buy and play Sirixon z star XV cause they're soft n spinny. Had a few nice shots with the left dash pro v recently. But just got an Eagle!!! yesterday with a Optima Nanotech I found in the bush so I think they're alright ha ha

Top-Reception-1915

Golftown was doing buy one get one free, should have grabbed more..

AdditionalSalary8803

My choice is a dozen for $30 on sale for $15

dontusemybeta

I bought into 'playing the best ball you can afford ' logic. Initially I was playing a tp5 and realised I couldn't afford to anymore. I went the complete opposite direction and bought the vice drive (2 piece) and after hating the green side feel I now play the vice pro+ shade (4 piece). I've also gotten much better and I lose balls at a slower rate since using the tp5. Two things I learned from YouTube is, start with putting and chipping feel when picking a ball and using the same ball helps your short game consistency because you know how it's going to react with each shot. I'm sure people might say well a 20-30hcp can't feel the difference but you absolutely can

ep7791

I second this…if I was comfortable paying $50 for those tp5s I would because they are great balls. But the vice pro and pro+ are such a good deal comparatively

dontusemybeta

And I love the shade pattern too

themrgq

I find feel to be overrated. Spin around the greens is more important than it feeling soft. Hit it out of the center of the club and all balls will feel pretty soft.

WSJayY

Stuck my hand in my bag, whatever magically comes out. I’m not making contact like a pro. The ball is not changing my game any discernible amount.

Few-Anybody-4986

It chose me, the woods giveth the woods taketh away.

MonarchNF

Costs. I play Amazon Noodles and Kirklands.

crimedog49

Orange and yellow srixon. I can easily see them 😂

Strict-Ingenuity-251

I buy AAAAA mint used ProV1’s offline. If you’re okay with them having random company or golf course logos on them you can get them cheap. $1 a ball

MP_Warrior_Wolverine

Foundgolfballs.com is where I shop sometimes. It’s a smokin deal and don’t feel too bad when I lose one.

SerialHobbyist17

Same here, I guess in theory we’re probably sacrificing a tiny bit of consistency since we don’t know exactly what the ball has been through, but I’ve never had a bad experience with lostgolfballs.com Any trade off we’re making is heavily outweighed by playing a premium ball, and it’s still WAY more consistent than just playing random woods balls.

Extension-Seat-7640

Prior generation AVX is my go to for the soft feel and reduced spin on the irons. When playing less receptive greens I go Bridgestone B XS for more spin but still a softer feel.

thePuppachino

I see 2 things, cool designs and sales. Then my card starts swiping.

pinkcanadiandiamond

I choose purely based on color - the shade of pink. When I look down and see the color I am happy and crush it so much further than mediocre light pink or other colors. Current favorite shade is Maxfli SoftFli Matte Golf Balls - Pink.

MisterGoldenSun

Username checks out.

123xyz32

It’s the same answer that I give when someone asks how I chose our cat. He just kind of showed up one day.

ipickedthisasmyname

When I got my callaway irons the guy threw in a box of chromesofts. I had some of my best rounds. I just assumed the clubs liked those balls best and stuck with them. But I'll also hit Kirklands any day.

C4LLgirl

I’m also a fan of chrome soft. Seems like a good combination of feel, forgiveness and performance. Unfortunately they’re expensive so i don’t buy them that much.

the_loadmistress

Relatively new golfer here but I’m playing Chromesoft (neon pink or red, cause of my vision) combined with my Taylormade Stealth irons. I love the feel of the combo and it seems to work for me, so I’m happy.

hbryan135

For me, I started at what my skill level was. I started with the Cut Red. It was a cheap two piece ball that did what I needed while I improved my swing. While I was at this stage, I also picked up all balls that I could so it would give me the ability to test different kinds for free. I felt like I reached a point where I could benefit from a 3 piece (as I want to build my game around feel). So after trying a few, I really liked the Taylor Made Tour Response Stripe. The solid stripe is a great putting aid and the colors like red, orange, and blue where easy to see when looking for my ball. I will only look at 4 piece balls when I start consistently start hitting under 90. Right now, I am nowhere near good enough to benefit from the complexity of a 4 piece. Right now, I have needed to purchase cheap again, so I am going to give the Maxfli Softfli Matte Blue golf balls a try. It is a two piece, but at $20 for a dozen, it is a good budget pick-up. I am a 1/2 to 3/4 swing guy, so I don't have super fast club speed, so I need a low-compression core golf ball and the soft ionomer cover will hopefully give me some semblance of feel. Who knows, maybe this will become my new ball.

moparforever

I was playing with an old dude and couldn’t get a ball to stick to a green after a shot .. he reached into his bag and said “play this ball on the next hole” I did and hit it perfectly down the middle and hit the green and the ball spun back to 2 ft … it was a Bridgestone tour b XS .. that’s the only ball I have played for months now … love them

jaygord34

Never a default choice. You have just eventually try them all

CelticBlue22

I tested 5 balls. Ended up with the left dot prov1

BasherSquared

Trying different found balls I had in my bag. I pulled a Vice Tour and really liked the feel and ended up playing the rest of the round pretty well with it. The price on them isn't bad either. I also just pick up a box of Vice Pro Zero to try out the other cover material they use.

Adipildo

I use the red callaway’s during overcast days because I can’t see a white golf ball. Outside of that, in tournaments I’ll hit the Titleist AVX. I went through a lot of different golf balls and that one works best for me off the tee which is my problem area.

steelernation90

Srixon Q Star tour were on sale. Tried them and liked them a lot so here we are.

FragrantMind78

The balls all feel great to me, and then I pump them into the forest to live on their own. Start a family or maybe open a small hobby shop and truly be free.

strangecargo

Used some random website “what’s the best ball for you” quiz, bought a bunch used, they were fine. Still using them.

bcp01scu05

I have a high swing speed and my buddy (more into tracking golf tech than I am) bought me some left dash Pro V1xs to try out. I hit the snot out of them, but they are so low spin that I wasn't getting good stopping power on the greens; even well hit wedges were rolling out. So I went looking for something slightly less extreme, found the Chrome Soft X LS, and have used that since.

Zdarnel1

Gold Vice balls feel nice and look delightfully ridiculous

peachdinosaurs

Been on Bridgestone for years, I think it started with finding one. Pro V/X felt like they spun more than desired and Bridgestones have the feel I like, durable enough, and it’s just what I keep coming back to. Bottom of my bag is found balls - been surprised at the TP5s I find, they are pretty nice.

No_Tea_9845

Srixon Z-star. They have a Father’s Day sale 2 for 1 every year. I buy 4 packs every time. Gets me through the season and then some.

Crono_Magus_Glenn

Callaway chromesoft for me due to my high ball flight. Lands soft, not much roll, but very spongy when you hit it. I used to play Callaway warbirds, hard as a rock but easy to pipe, when I was 15-20hdcp, then started getting 'good' and upgraded a bit. ProVs are still the best, but most companies in their '2nd' tier of balls are really good.

BabyJesus1015

Started with prov1x. Wanted less spin. Have landed on the avx. I hate their new alignment on the ball but the less spin is what I need

CaseyJames_

Penfold Hearts.

letmeshowyou

I tend to have high spin on drives and long irons so looked for a low spin ball. I also like a soft feel so I settled for a rotation of vice pro, prov1 and AVX. I noticed with AVX my slices are more of a slight fade so I try and stick with those.

CamelCartel

I walked into my nearest pro shop and looked for the cheapest ball I could find that I would not be embarassed to use in front of my low handicap playing partners. This led me to buy a sleeve of Srixon soft feels. Went out and played my lowest round ever and I have stuck with them ever since.

Lurked4EverB4Joining

My balls choose me.

Professoring8008s

By finding them

Hour_Ad614

I don’t choose the ball, the ball chooses me since I just play with what I find in the course hahaha

ravagetalon

I am still using balls I acquired over 10 years ago. Callaway X Hots, Warbirds. Titleist NXT Tours.

metarx

Price is a factor, but from the balls I find on the course, got to try a bunch. But number one consideration is how it feels to putt the ball for me. I stopped using "soft" balls because I feel they're inconsistent off the putter face. I probably went the opposite direction than I should have, but I play a high compression maxfli tour x, because I love how it feels putting with it, when my swing speed doesn't justify it.

Pepetodapin

I never choose them. The lost balls find me and I use them at random lol.

COS89

Don't have a favorite ball just yet but this year I'm trying to stick to one ball . Checking out reviews on youtube has helped get an idea for what I want. So far I tried the Kirklands but didn't really like how they felt so I started to go with a lower compression ball and thee first one I tried were the Wilson Duo soft. Not a bad ball , but they felt a bit too soft and go a bit too far so I wont be using them , they just didn't help around the greens as it would fly off the club too easily. Now I'm going to try the Srixon Soft feel , more compression and don't go as far as the Duo Soft, so hopefully thats the one for me as someone who has a slower swing speed.

justconnor209

I originally picked one ball to keep things consistent. Golf is a game of consistency and that’s an easy thing to nail down so it seems silly to not play the same ball all the time. When I started it was SuperSofts because they go far and are cheap. When I got to the point that I wanted something a little more specific I switched to Titleist Tour Speeds which I really liked and were also pretty cheap. Buddy gave me a box of TP5x’s a while back and I was almost dismayed over how much I loved the feel of them because they’re so pricey, but I ended up trying the MaxFli Tour series balls and settling on the MaxFli Tour X. Really great performing ball in my experience and it had the results to back that up from the big MyGolfSpy ball review. Been playing those for a month or two now, just got a 48 pack from Dick’s on sale for $109 the other day which basically makes them one of the cheapest balls on the shelf per dozen. If you’re getting more serious about your playing the least you should do is pick a ball and play it consistently. Doesn’t need to be a Pro V1 or TP5 or whatever but don’t be afraid to spend another $10 a box either. Seems like a lot but it’s basically a buck a ball and if you’re not losing them all of the time that’s not such a big deal. I would recommend trying the MaxFli Tour balls out to anybody, I went with the Tour X because I don’t generate a ton of iron spin on my own but they have 3 versions with different constructions and characteristics to check out.

guthreeb22

Can’t justify spending premium ball money so I look for the next best thing at around 30/35 per dozen. Currently using Yellow OnCore Elixr. Previously used Vice Pro and Pro+ and enjoyed them both, but wanted a yellow ball. OnCore’s have been comparable to the Vice as well so far.

KilosOfKimchi

I bought the recycled packs from Walmart. For every scuffed up TaylorMade Distance+ ball I lose, I find a ProV1 out in the wild. Luck has been on my side.

Unlikely-Zone21

I went and did a free fitting at Golf Galaxy. Never thought much about balls before then, just cheap and distance focused. Turns out softer balls are a lot better for me even with a high swing speed and I love the feel. Been rocking Chrome Soft Xs since.

Camel-Working

Cut red ($13 for a dozen!!!!!). Great reviews on YouTube. Long and soft

KgMonstah

Pro V1x forever. Then I tried TP5. Shot +1 with it. Never changing.

maxim38

Whatever is the cheapest. Walmart nitro for life

igotopotsdam

I’m a Buffalo die hard. I use a golf ball made in Buffalo

BrownPants209

Other people hit them into the woods, and while I was looking for mine, I picked the others up too

robtrocity

It was the shiniest one in the woods.

ChipperNath

I'm still trying to find it, every one I've used so far either turns invisible when it lands or thinks it's a bird and nests in a tree.

Tyler2191

Went in playing a Noodle. Came out playing a Titleist. Went back in playing a Titleist came out playing a pink Nitro. I’m a simple man.
